How do you modify nfcnci to work screen on,locked? Is it ok to swap apks with nfc on, or switch it off before replace?
Although APK would be nice, I want to learn how to do it. Cannot find anything using search.
Thanks in advance
Download the nfc lockscreenoff enabler module from xposed.i think that will help you.
Press thanks if i helped

Has this been tried, after looking in my own phone and in FTF dumps, I see no NFCnci.apk/ NFCnci.odex
Will the XPosed thing work without this or not.? will try. Just not yet. Need to flash 4.1.2 as cannot root 4.3 with locked boot
@theperson333, you can update to 4.3 maintaining root access with locked bootloader using Nicki Root, but you must already be on 4.1.2/4.2.2 before using it, otherwise you'll need to downgrade...

I have downgraded to 4.1( My battery is happy!). the xposed method works! I also have tasker using secure settings so that when I'm connected to my wifi, it changes to swipe lockscreen. Also, It switches off wifi when I leave the cell area around my house. This way, setting a router to same name is not enough to unlock the device.
@mbc07 Thaks for the 4.3 rooting guide, but I mainly wanted root to do TA backup. Along side that, battery seems to be better for me on 4.1 and the google now 'swipe the home key up' doesn't work for me on 4.3, so I'm happy on 4.1 Thanks anyhow.

I'm looking for couple Widgets for my new Arc.
1) I like to be able to restart the phone with out pressing the power button. My fingers are kind of fat and with having case it's hard to press the button, almost need to use pen or something.
2) Need to be able to blank the screen. Same as above, fingers too fat and sometimes need to blank the screen right away.
Thanks for any pointers.
P.S. I don't want to get nothing that does some extra stuff, just those 2 things (2 separate widgets are good enough...2 separate programs are good as well).
For rebooting via widget, widgetsoid allows you to do that. But you need root to allow that command.
for reboot you can use Xperia Reboot Options widget from DooMLoRD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123576 (root needed)
Widgetsoid also has the option to turn off the screen (root needed).
Darn, all of them need root....new to Android and only have the device for a week and don't want to turn this in to brick.
Now the question, is any one on Rogers rooted with 2.3.3 (just took update couple of days ago). Current build number is 3.0.1.A.0.145.

So I guess the only way to root the device right now is to downgrade?
If so, any one on Rogers done that yet?

I use 'Screen Off and Lock' to blank/turn off the screen.
When I first bought my ZL, I rooted the phone using binary4 V27 on superuser mode and that was very fast and simple. I could modify system files and do everything.
One day using my ultimate stupidness, I updated the firmware to 10.1.1.....253 then I did factory reset without doing a backup for my root.
Right now, when I go to settings -----> about ----> I get Kernal version 3.4.0 with android version 4.1.2 but unfortunately It seems like I don't have a rooted phone + I am unable to do any function of a rooted phone like modifying system files or ....etc .
I've tried million ways such as:
1- rooting the phone using the same method --------> the result is stucking at the wight screen and nothing happened.
2- Using motochopper method --------> doesn't work
3- Using the method of installing Android SDK and using the command prompt window to push (Su-busybox-superuser.apk) files to data/local/tmp/ --------> when reach sysrw step (sysrw not found)
tried to type SU (su not found)
tried to use one of the alternative commands like cd /system/usr/we-need-root or ./su-backup -----> file not found
or mount -o remount,rw '' /systemmount ---------> Operation not permitted
I will be following your instructions directly and give u the feed back
I am not gonna move anywhere until solving this issue BC I am getting crazy
I would highly appreciate your help guys , ... Thank you so much in advance

Ur bootloader is lock or unlock? If lock, you have to be patient for new root exploit method to appear.
Another way is to degrade ur Rom to. 434 and root. Then flash doomkernel v7 (this only apply to bootloader unlock) and flash .253 xcluding kernel. When finish once u want to reboot, there will be request to root appear.
Another another way, download rootkeeper, then temp un root and run OTA but some people in Z forum reported that it still fail to update, some successfully update.

Some aspects of modifying this phone can leave you a seriously broken phone, notably the TA partition. You would benefit greatly from doing a lot (like hours and hours) of reading in the "Z" section. All the activity is there, not in the ZL section. 99.9% of all the information there applies to the ZL (but practically NONE of the download files, so do not use software there unless clearly labeled for the ZL). The sections on backing up TA (look for DRM and TA), on using flashtool.
Note that all the information on root that does not specifically mention 253 is obsolete.

Still looking for help!! Anyone??...
Basically you seem to have tried everything at least that I can think of.
Are Bluetooth and Gps working for you?
Try flashing another ROM like Ditto Note 4 and see if it is working.
Ravi.
Yup. Both bluetooth n gps is working fine.
I have also tried wififix frim dr.ketan but failed with version conflict. Suspect thats because my bootloader is much newer. Is there a fix for latest bootloader??

I am not sure and I was thinking about downgrading the bootloader too as older bootloaders are incompatible with 4.4.4 kitkat but don't think it would be the other way round.
It could probably brick the device and downgrading a bootloader is generally never recommended.
It would be worthwhile to flash a Rom of kitkat 4.4.4 version and see if you get back your wifi as per my previous post.
If you liked my post, please hit the thanks / thumbs up button.
Ravi.
I have search thru the forum n most point to a boot loader issue. Thats why i m already on latest bootloader but my wifi still stuck....anyone have the same problem?

Search is your Friend ....
As far as i Know it doesnt work on lollipop & only works for KitKat. it doesnt work for mine on Lollipop. Also its not a Perm Root, Root is lost upon reboot
Search the Form there is a bunch more info on it
Yup, only works on kitkat and it's temporary only.
The devs are working on a permanent solution. I personally have held off with trying king root because I don't trust it.
I am downgrading and i am going to attempt kingroot because i wanna get rid of bloatware and i never turn my phone off unless i really need to.

I believe there is a debloater that's been out for lollipop that doesn't need root.
I also think I've read that even if you don't reboot, over time or after messing with certain parts of the system, you'll lose root.
Debloater doesn't remove bloatware, only disables it.
Kingroot has been reported to cause random reboots, which is why I haven't tried it in spite of the fact that I rarely if ever reboot my phone either.
Also, something I've come to wonder... What good would deleting bloatware be if those no custom ROM with reworked partitions? We wouldn't be gaining any space from the ROM partition (where system apps are stored) But we can already delete all the updates for system apps (since they go in internal storage instead of overwriting the original app in ROM storage). At least this is the way I've come to understand it from using Titanium Backup on my old devices.
I didn't think king root was actually rooting your main system rom? Thought that was why you had to use multisystem and from that point you would install the rooted kitkat rom, etc..
But if kingroot does root the factory system, then you could simply root with kingroot remove the bloatware then it wouldn't matter if you lost root after a reboot. Correct?
I am not sure but i am trying to downgrade my note 4 right now and i hope it doesnt brick

I was wondering if I went through this temp root path and modified my hosts file as well as using "SDFix: KitKat Writable SD" to give me write access to sd. Would they stay that way modified host file and write access if I hard rebooted and removed king root or SU after doing those things originally with root permissions?

You can downgrade to NJ5 4.4 rom and get temporary root with King root, if you're on OAF. However, if you took the OTA upgrade to OF1 or above, you cannot downgrade. You stuck with LL with no way to root.

I dont think kingroot is root at all.
I dont understand the term "temporary root"
Even if its temporary, changes it makes to the system should be permanent yet they go back to normal.
I tried using system app uninstaller and it said "succeeded "
I tried to use AdAway and it said "successful"
I even opened up the system/hosts file to confirm the change was made, yet after reboot everything went back to stock.
Not only that, but kingroot comes with FULL SCREEN ads that pop when you exit application that requested root access, and they are annoying playing videos and eat up your data.
I think kingroot creates virtual root environment inside RAM. Changes made inside RAM do not apply to device storage. Nothing is changed to say the very least but allot of garbage and spyware is added.
Even after uninstalling the app, its service is left behind and you gotta remove thru "Settings/applications/All"
Smart Chinese should have put their knowledge into cracking the locked bootloader instead of creating fake trash like this.

I was playing with my buddy's note4 (sm-n910v) this evening and I used Kingroot's Purify app. After running it, I went through every option and it finally gave me a link to the Kingroot.net download (XDA's wouldn't parse for me).
I installed Kingroot and ran it... fail.
Rebooted
Ran Purify again, followed by Kingroot.... Root Successful!
Ran RootChecker..... haha... tripped the knox.... auto reboot. (Note to self... don't run RootChecker)
Ran Kingroot.... much faster root success this time!
Verified root by turning on the root explorer in ES File Explorer's options.... Root was asked for and granted.
Instead of removing the bloatware using ES File, I opted to give the Purify app another try in hope of getting root to stick.
That's when I came Purify's 'Debloater' app.... It started ok, so, I handed my buddy his phone and told him."Better get some while the getting is good!".... He had about 30 apps checked when I stopped him and suggested he make a back up before he does anymore!
Apps uninstalled successfully and my buddy rebooted (ok...I guess we're done).
After reboot.. root was gone but, so were the 30+ apps!
Long story short.... Getting root is possible... You just have to get root when you need it and be decisive in your actions.... Remember anything that trips the knox and try to avoid it!... Work Purify and Kingroot back and forth like a couple of wedges... I think I was close to getting root to stick permanently but, my buddy had to go home and he took all the toys with him
I guess the next step is getting rid of, disabling or re-configuring the knox.... So, please read up on the knox system change detect-o-matic before trying to uninstall it... Do it right and you'll be a champ!
But... if you automate it for everyone with a small program and you'll reach 'Hero' status for sure!
Oh yeah.... That Note4 was running Lollipop 5.1.0 (or 5.0.1?... I didn't pay much attention)
Hope that helps
<8^)
P.S. Sorry if I posted incorrectly ... I'll get it right one of these days!

Hi mate,
what method did you use to root 5.1.1?
I spent hours last night clearing 5gb of space on c:\ so I could update my z1 to 5.1 using pc companion.
Finally got it updated and now I realise kingroot doesnt work on 5.1 yet.
Any pointers would be much appreciated,
Cheers

One user in Kingroot thread says they rooted using an older version, (I think he said 4.1). I haven't looked into it more than that, but maybe worth a look. Besides that, probably a PRF is your only option with locked BL for now.
