HTC M8 Stock RUU.zip HELP - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I currently have the HTC M8 Sprint Variant pre Harman Kardon Edition. After rooting and making my phone S-OFF I was tweaking and modding my HTC. I was having tons of issues with my messages every since I had My phone and had read a forum online that said something about my version of the phone having issues due to firmware. I had decided to unroot my device so I could go to sprint and get a new or something because what the use of having a phone if I can not get Messages or Calls. In doing so I completely wiped my phones using TWRP recovery. But when I say completely I mean I accidentally wiped off My OS. Thus I could not take my phone to sprint as it would clearly be a violation. In searching for the pre HK Sprint Variant RUU.zip I could only find the the New HK Stock RUU.zip file. So I installed it and on the bright side, I know have a OS on my phone and it works amazing, I get the new Clairify sound as stock (vs flashing a mod) and My messages and calls now work. On the down side My benchmark score went from 37500 to 30100... Eventually I will have to take my phone back to sprint to get things all worked out but I have been searching every where and can not seem to find the pre HK RUU. If anyone has a link to this zip file I would greatly appreciate it.

Stock RUU has not been released yet

Which part of the software depends on rooting?

So I just got my HTC One M8 last week (my carrier is Verizon). After seeing how terrible HTC Sense is, I decided I want to root and then flash CM. I rooted my last phone, the Samsung Galaxy S3, but this seems a little bit harder. I've looked at a few guides, but I'm afraid that there is a certain piece of software that depends if the root will work or not. On my S3 I just had to see what Android version I was using, but this phone has a few different types of software. Which one do I pay attention to? Android version, HTC sense version, software number, PRI, PRL, ERI... Also, when I rooted my S3 and then wanted to flash a rom onto it, I had to reset the flash counter because I was on Verizon. Does it work that way with this phone too?

There is only one way to root verizon htc m8 because verizon doesn't allow htc boot loader unlocking. You have to visit the firewater site and gain temp root, then soff, etc.. You should check the verizon forums. I will go ahead and tell you that ALL aosp roms including cm are very buggy right now and not daily drivers. Sound buggy, wifi messed up, calls make beeping etc.. Maybe try a better sense rom that supports verizon. Here are the verizon forums

Converting GPE to T-Mobile Version

Hi. I recently switched over to android and bought an M8 GPE hoping to use it with ISIS on T-Mobile. I used to use an iPhone on T-Mobile so I couldn't use ISIS. I've been trying for the past few days to get ISIS running, but nothing has worked (Market Helper, I tried to restore a T-Mobile M8 Nandroid backup, which failed, sideloading APK's, replacing the build.prop with one from T-Mobile, flashing it with a T-Mobile RUU, etc).
Does anyone know how I can flash a T-Mobile Rom on my GPE M8? (Unfortunately I got the OTA update to 4.4.4 so I don't think I can get S-OFF, does that matter?)
You could still flash ROMs without s-off. There's a few T-Mobile based ROMs available, check out the T-Mobile forum. Also insertcoin and viperone has the option to choose the T-Mobile bloats. I haven't tried isis myself so i can't help you in that department. I don't have the "isis sim"

Thanks. I actually had already tried to install ViperOme, but it failed. I believe there was an errror when trying to create a symlink in /system/bin, due to missing permissions. Can I simply install a T-Mobile firmware like this one : http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23487008491964290 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2754063 by booting into TWRP Recovery mode and selecting Restore? Or do I need to select "Install" instead? What about using something like ROM Manager, could I use that?
I am just guessing because I had problems with OTA's on my T-Mobile m8 to EU m8 conversion. You probably need to convert your model id to 13000 for everything to flash smoothly. I had to change my model id to 10000. Beware. I hope you understand what you're doing when you start changing cid's and mid's. Took me a few days to figure ota issue because of the model id making flashes fail.
BTW, I think you're downgrading if you goto a T-Mobile rom. I would convert to an EU ROM and then use google wallet. Less bloat and ram management is so much better. Less loading from save state and apps just pop up because they're still in ram.

ISIS is still kinda eh... i havent gotten it to work properly on viper rom. you have to basically swap everything though. i would swap to a tmobile firmware make sure your CID is changed to tmobile as well as install the tmobile TWRP backup and just factory reset after that. then it should startup like a brand new tmobile phone.
My guide should give some pointers on changing GSM M8 variants see my sig
There is another thread regarding converson from GPE however :good:

Is there Stock Sense or GPE with OTA for T-Mobile M8?

Hey guys!
I'm European user. Few months ago I bought sealed 32GB HTC M8 from Ebay, not realising that all 32GB ones are T-Mobile branded. It came with unlock code and pinch of disappointment. The thing is, in Bulgaria there even isn't T-Mobile as an option and I want to get rid of all the T-Mobile bloatware on my phone.
I've already unlocked my bootloader, rooted and sunshine s-off my phone. I'm considering either going stock sense or going GPE (so far I've had 2 Nexus devices last 4 years, loved stock) but I want to keep OTA and I don't seem to be able to find neither GPE 5.0.1 RUU nor Stock Sense RUU with OTA for T-Mobile Can you give me any directions - I do realise that after flashing new rom, I will have to put back a stock recovery.

If you do a full GPE conversion including the MID and CID you should be able to receive OTAs. Try this thread. READ THE WHOLE SET OF INSTRUCTIONS!!! NOBODY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DEVICE GETTING BRICKED!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708589
I've actually done this conversion and later switched back to a stock Sense build. Make sure you read the entire set of instructions.
Thanks for the info, Phil! By "I went back to stock sense“ do you mean T-mobile stock room or stock international unbranded rom?

Stock T-mobile. The GPE didn't get very good signal here. On average I had half the bars and trouble keeping LTE.
You are not the first one that complains from GPE conversion signal issues around here... Is it per device basis or it's just in US that GPE devices have issues?

I've only had experience on the T-Mobile version of the phone converted to GPe, running on T-mobile USA towers.
I converted my device using the RUU from the thread you sent me. I seem to have good coverage but I kinda miss some of the HTC Sense apps. I thought that at least I would be able to download the HTC camera app. I will probably find it's apk somewhere as the stock google camera app seems worse.

a few of the effects are still available through the photos app instead of gallery. think you had to hit edit. I think I missed blinkfeed most of all. Really did like the google stock dialer though.

Has anyone rooted a Bell Canada HTC 10?

Hi everyone,
I've been researching for a couple days and I'm pretty much ready to root my phone. I have the Bell Canada version. All I want to do is unlock the bootloader, root it, and install Xposed. From what I can tell, I shouldn't have any problems. But I've been seeing a lot about the radio not working, and I'm concerned I might be screwing myself since there is no RUU for the international version of the HTC 10. Which means, as far as I can tell, that if I screw up my phone there's no going back. I haven't seen many threads addressing specifically the Bell/international version, so I want to be clear before I try anything. I have much experience rooting phones, but I'm new to HTC and it seems much more complicated and risky.
So I have a few questions:
- Has anyone successfully rooted the Bell/international variant of the HTC 10 without issues or radio loss?
- Further, has anyone gotten Xposed framework working?
- Is there a way to revert the phone back to stock/fully functioning in the case that the radio stops working or some other problems arise?
Thanks in advance.
I plan on getting one soon and root it. Would be fun to know if someone did it already.

Were you guys able to root and/or flash a ROM on the Bell model?
I am running Leeroid ROM on my Bell HTC 10. Very easy. Unlock bootloader, install twrp with fastboot and you're gold
Xposed works great too. Never had an issue with radio since rooting. I do have a minor problem which only started happening since i removed the rom encryption and my lte wont work until i go into mobile networks and reset apn to default. Once i do that my lte works like normal until i reboot and have to repeat the 10 second process.
And you can always save a twrp backup of your stock ROM if you want to go back.
sweet, thanks for confirming! Did you manage to get a Sharp display by chance? I have a feeling that literally all of the Bell ones are of Tianma.
Bell user here. I'm on stock rom with latest update with some mods. Phone runs pretty good now,
1.90.666.4 OS
Sunshine > $25 dollar paypal (S-OFF)
TWRP for recovery
AcoustiX_Audio_ZeroInfinity_v30 (make speaker louder)
ElementalX-HTC10-0.25-Sense (Plus $3.00 EX Kernal Manager Paypal)
Tweaked_pnp_thermal_ivicask_v19
I've rooted my HTC 10 using sunshine. I'm currently on Leedroid's ROM.
As anyone successfully restored to stock? I need to do so to unlock. I want to use a different SIM.
There was a bell ruu somewhere around. Just run that and you'll be back to full stock.
Do you have a link?
No but @xunholyx might be able to help
I have the 2.41.666.3 RUU. You can download it here.
Thanks a lot. I also need a stock recovery. Is it included?
Yes. RUUs always contain the stock recovery. They restore everything to stock. Also, it will wipe your phone, so backup anything you don't want to lose.

What are my options on a 2PS6400 with Android versions Rooting and S-OFF

I bought this new off eBay for development only. I have no plans to Activate it.
I would love to just run RUU for Android 6, 7, or 8 as needed.
Which RUU's do I need for a 2PS6400
I'm confuse what this phone is. It was advertised as "Sprint Unlocked". It was brand new sealed.
I put an old Sprint SIM in it, just to get rid of some warnings and wasn't sure if it would help GPS quality by pinging towers. GPS is running pretty poorly. Runs fine on Deactivated M9.
It doesn't have any Sprint Crap on it, which is really nice.
I would like to avoid S-OFF and rooting if possible. But I don't mind using the ZIP RUU on the SD Card to switch.
I just noticed this thread of someone switching from Nougat to Marshmallow but he was S_OFF, Rooted, TWRP etc.
But based on the Video he posted to finally make it work, if he put the ZIP on the SD Card my recollection is S-OFF wouldn't matter.
Anything other than RUU makes me nervous trying to go backwards manually flashing old firmware with S-OFF (with partition changes etc.).
I've also lost S-OFF that I paid for in the M9. I don't mind at all in paying once, but I'm not paying multiple times.
Also it shows 2.42.651.66 Are their Android 7 updates I can apply?
If I check for software updates, it might kick off the Android 8 update and I may not be able to stop it. What are my options there?
boot into download mode. If it was a true brand new sprint phone that was unlocked it would still have sprint apps. People on ebay are either buying new phones and flashing new roms themselves or buying new phones thatve been flashed by some other company.
Hold vol down and power button until the htc logo lights up and it should boot into download mode. Take note of the red colored data up top and write down the radio and os. Also do a imei and serial number check. If its anything other than an htc 10 send it back

The last update for the Sprint HTC 10 was for 2.51.651.31
You can download the RUU.exe directly from HTC for it, or you could check for updates in settings > about for the OTA
Here's a link for the RUU.exe Scroll down to the "Manual System Update Instructions" and read them. The download is at the end of the instructions.
If you would prefer to flash the RUU via your SD card, or you don't have a Windows computer (you need one for the .exe), let me know and I'll extract the ROM.zip (RUU.zip) for you so you can flash it that way. You could also probably just find the .zip with a Google search.
EDIT: Apparently Sprint has released Oreo via OTA, but there isn't an RUU for it yet
Cool it's already S-Off, Unlocked. I think it's an "HTC 10 Unlocked/Developer" but it's hard to confirm a matching RUU with the 2PS6400 model number.
It was factory sealed. But I still don't know what RUU's are safe to use with it.

Hmmm, well 2PS640000 is Sprint's MID so you should be careful with that. In general flashing, GSM firmware to a CDMA phone can be dangerous and lead to a brick. There is a way to convert the HTC 10, but I'm not up to speed on it. Since your phone is S-Off I have a feeling someone might have done that. You could try to do an ESN check with the IMEI and see what that brings up as far as what is was originally.
US Unlocked's MID is 2PS650000, and with your current MID you wouldn't be able to flash a US Unlocked RUU

Nobody did anything to it. He sold 60 of them and it was clearly factory sealed. I see it mentioned a lot when googling around with other people just as puzzled exactly what it is. It's some sort of developer phone.
Someone had a 2PS500 as well that sounded identical. It had S-Off and same bare bones Sprint firmware version.
Ting says it will activate. But it says no on other carriers. I don't care though, but if I ever sold it, it looks like Ting (at least) would work.
It would not let the Unlocked ( *.617.*) RUU Run firmware flash.
The current firmware it had is 2.42.651.66 which is a Sprint Variant.
The CID is set to 1111111
So I tried the Sprint 2.51.651.31 RUU update and it flashed fine. And now has all the Sprint Garbage on it. I don't care. I now know what I can flash to it or not.
It still shows S-Off and Unlocked and Official after Sprint RUU.
It would be nice to know if I could safely flash the Oreo Sprint RUU (which I highly suspect will also flash fine once released) and then go BACK to the Nougat Sprint one as needed back and forth.
Since it's S-Off etc. It would be handy to be to test Android 7 and 8 with one phone.
If I bricked it, I can return for 30 days. So I rather brick it now than later
I took a shot at updating to Android 8 OTA and it worked fine. Will test if I can flash back to Android 7 with the same RUU I used above.
I can't get a very good GPS lock on this thing. Every other deactivated phone I have can get a good lock.
sounds a bit like mine... a 2PS6500, came pre-Soff with SuperCID 111111 and MID converted to 2PS6200... had Nougat WWE.401 installed & GPS was great.
once i took the OTA to Oreo, i now have issues with GPS, as I can see all the satellites, but can't get any GPS-lock at all anymore
I can still get a gps lock just not a great one and sluggish to get a lock.
Tried flashing back to Android 7 with the RUU (I used earlier), no go. Once Android 8 is on their seems no easy way of going back and I'm not gonna try manually doing it as I'll brick it for sure.
Gonna probably send it back. I was willing to live with marginal GPS (which I need for my app debug) but was going to keep it if I could easily switch between Android 7 and 8 (and back).
But it doesn't look that way.
Charger just died too.

And no GPS lock. (running Oreo US Unlocked.)

Just a follow up. I sent mine back. Got a new real Verizon one for $200.00 on eBay (had no box but it looks new with fairly recent build date too). Works perfect, including GPS without being activated.
I had to manually flash it to the last Android 7 update via adb/fastboot couldn't do it OTA (WIFI) which I thought was a little odd.
