I noticed that my LG G Pad's (V500) screen rotation function does not work properly and that apps (e.g racing games) that rely on the G-Sensor/Acceleromenter do not work properly.
The result from the sensor is about 30 degrees to far to the left.
Is there any way how I can recalibrate/fix this.
Note: Using GPS Status I can calibrate the Accelerometer & Compass but that does not influence other applications or the system settings.
Go into settings, then into display, scroll right down to the bottom and click on motion sensor calibration.

I am searching for an app to toggle the screen on and off when you rotate face down or turn reverse portrait (or even shake the unit possibly).
I have been using MobileMagic to do just that, but it's not completely stable and I don't use any of its other features.
I had hoped that Gyrator 2 would do it, but it only offers screen off, not screen toggle.
Any suggestions?

Or should I move this request to,
xda-developers > General discussion > Development and Hacking ?
I Would love that too, only I would like the screen to lock instead. As do you, I've been using MobileMagic for that, but it is unstable and for rotating applications I'm using FlipIt now (since it is included in Dutty's ROMs)
Search for g-trigger on xda, it as a screen on/off toggle action that you can set to a specific shaking. Hope it help.
Try this
it`s Ccalled ChangeScreen.....

Hi guys,
I have a next problem. In my car dock (with pins) the phone is positioned the way that power button points down. The phone detects orientation no problem, so all apps have proper reverse landscape layout even those that suppose to have fixed landscape. The problem is the apps that use camera are showing and recording video upside-down (I tried DailyVoyager, Track Recorder from Torque PRO). Stock camera works fine. The rom is CM10.1
Is the any fix for that?
Thanks for reading

Additional input. This camera bug happens only with apps that force "landscape" orientation, so when dock overrides this setting by "reverse landscape" everything except camera gains proper orientation.

It's very inconvenient to use my phone when lying on bed. I sometimes switch between landscape view and portrait view but I can't turn on the g-sensor auto rotation because what is "down" in my view is actually horizontal. Are there any "intelligent" rotation toggles that can calibrate the "ideal" gravity direction and automatically rotate the screen to fit the user's view?
PS: Technically, I think the compass is also needed to perform this function.
Same here. I switched off auto rotation and can now easily use it when laying in bed.

Use the rotate app from market. It's great, can force rotation if app normally doesn't too.

So you rotate manually when lying in bed? I think it's technically possible to make a software that rotates automatically after the user point out the ideal "down" direction.

A solution to offset the rotation +-90degrees would be nice

I've just made an app to solve it. See

Hi everyone this is my new app and I need some testers...
Remember when we were young we used to imagine drawing shapes in the air by moving hands.. Now this is possible; this app lets you draw a picture or write words simply by moving your hand in the air...
Hold your device face up, hold your touch anywhere on the screen, move your hand in any direction and the movement will be drawn on the screen.
Keep in mind that everytime you start drawing the app will create a virtual drawing field from 90° left to 90° right this is the range you can move your hand in (ie: you can't turn around).
Additional feature: In the app settings you could change the drawing field to +-35° that means you could draw the scene in front of you by moving the device toward the edges of things that you want to draw..
it's about fun and activity, although your drawings may not be that perfect..
Requirements:
# Android 2.3+
# Orientation sensor (compass) available on device.
** the performance of the app depends on speed an quality of the sensor which could differ according to the device model and brand, so the test should focus on performance**

Just played around with it for a minute or so, your up and down features are working well but only when tilting the device. Your left and rights aren't up to par yet for sure. If you can edit it to make it more reliant on the phones position and not orientation I think you'll have better luck! Great concept!

Thanks for your reply,
First of all the device should always be level (ie: not tilted, unless when pressing the "brush" size button (the last button on the right)).
Second, your problem is a little bit weird because whenever the device contains a compass the pointer (circle) on the screen should follow the movement of the device (left, right, up and down), but the problem that may occur on some devices is the latency (slow sensor responsiveness) especially with fast movements.
Third, the device orientation sensor is one of the main sensors that determines the device position, so I don't know what do you mean by "position".
this is a demo about using the app on my galaxy s3:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=St63EKIBxAg&feature=youtu.be
could you try again, and describe the problem in more details..(Latency, No/Wrong horizontal/vertical pointer movement, No pointer at all..)
After some tests a problem have appeared on some devices caused by the need to calibrate the magnetic (orientation) sensor which result in an irregular pointer movements..
to check if your magnetic senor (compass) needs calibration:
1- open phone and enter the code: *#0*#
2- press Sensor button
3- on the bottom of the screen there is a black circle with a line in it that represents the orientation.
4- if the line's color is not blue and the number under is less than 3 that means the sensor needs calibration.
5- to calibrate the sensor simply wave your device in 8 pattern https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzQSsUsOWJc, continue to do it until the line becomes blue, this mean that the sensor is now calibrated..
** if the device have a cover that have a magnet in it, you should remove that cover **
open the app and check if the problem is solved..
As title, whenever I open the Camera app, the brightness changed to max level, is there anyway to disable it ? Thanks
It is really inconvenient to hv forced max brightness when using stock camera app. I cannot find a way to turn it off, but you can temporarily fix by openning the cam app, scroll down from the top and adjust the brightness, then, the brightness will be normal until you restart the cam app. You may also consider to install Google Cam app mod, which is available here in XDA (thx for the developers)
You can override it using other app, called Applock. It has function to override app brightness setting. It also can lock your app using PIN, password and biometrics.
I just updated to Android 13 and the Camera app seems to fix this there's also a setting to activate/deactivate "more brightness" in Camera app
