[Q] M8 Dead/Bricked/Don't Know !! - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
One of my friend got M8 and one fine day phone went to bootloop automatically and then he rebooted the phone into bootloader and did a sideload of custom rom/may be stock back (he don't know actually) but he said he flashed TWRP. Now after flasing the ROM the phone never started.
Issue is now the computer also did't recognise the device. If I plugin into the wall charges sometimes orange LED glows and sometime not.
It also not booting/ Not going to bootloader. Please help me to fix the phone as it's a imported version from US and indian service center will not help this.
Many thanks in advance,
Mahesh

Did you try volume UP and power until the 3 soft keys stop flashing? That is the equivalent of a battery pull. After the soft keys stop flashing then try to boot to recovery or bootloader. I haven't used ADB Sideload, but I would try using the microSD card to flash a new ROM.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

i suppose you tried volume up and power together?

Yeah you'll have to get an SD card and then put a ROM on the SD card with an adapter from your computer...hold down both volume keys and power button for 10 seconds and then hold down vol down and power right after and go to recovery, wipe and flash

Yes mate, I tried that combination power+vol. down. Nothing happens.

And it won't power on in any way?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

Press and hold Power + Volume up for about 10-15 seconds. Does anything happen?

nops mate

Odd how it starts bootlooping so you automatically install TWRP and flash a rom and don't think 'why was it bootlooping in the first place?'. Now you voided the warranty

Sorry bud. It's bricked.

Did he tried htc one m8 toolkit? It has options to push to the device command to reboot, or enter recovery.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk

It just uses adb, which will not work in his phone in this state. Toolkits are never a good idea for troubleshooting.

Just one question, are you having a bootloop or the device wont power on at all? Do you feel any vibration while holding Power+VolDown?
Did you unlock your bootloader before this happened? If you didnt, you can still return it...

It's not powering up at all. No vibrations. As its a Developer edition so bootloader was factory unlocked.

[Q] incredible brick

My Incredible is bricked. It powers on and stays at the white screen that says "htc Incredible" no recovery, no bootloader, nothing. All I did at the time was place a rom on the root of my sd card then tried to flash it. From there I got this damn white screen of death. Is there a way to possibly salvage this expensive paperweight or do I have to go buy another phone?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can't even get into bootloader? (Reboot while holding power and volume down).

adb is your best friend. adb reboot recovery, adb reboot. can use those instead of pulling battery

Try from a completely powered down state, as opposed to a reboot.
Edit: yes, I know that's what you meant, but he might not.

Completely powered down if I hold the volume and power button it vibrates 3 times and I get nothing after that just a black screen. The only way that I can get it to come on after that is pull the battery and and just use the power button only.

Not sure exactly. A friend of mine got me back into recovery somehow. From there I was able to flash my backup. I wish I knew how he did it.

I'm in the same boat. I accidentally loaded an Incredible S ROM. I can get into hboot, but any of the options just take me back to the white screen.
Try plugging into the computer with the battery out. That could get you bootloader. It works like that on most androids.
Thanks for the tip, but unfortunately it didn't work. A buddy of mine said "If your hboot will let you switch into fastboot, then u can search on XDA there should be a way to wipe and flash a command line through usb if u can get fastboot" but I couldn't find anything on here about a command line. It does let me into fastboot.
Also it recognizes when the USB is connected.
Do you think that you could flash back to stock?
If you can get into hboot, you're all set. Go here and get the PB31IMG.zip file http://dougpiston.com/?page_id=108
It's the RUU that will bring your phone back to stock. Put it on the root of your SD Card (use a card reader or any other way of connecting the sd card to your computer). Make sure it's labeled exactly PB31IMG.zip or it won't work.
Then put the sd card back in your phone. Get it back into hboot. After a few seconds it will ask if you want to update, press volume up to start the update. It will reboot and all will be fine again!
Thank you soooo much. It worked.

Volume DOWN and power. Volume up and power does a hardware test where that is the response you should get. For it working.

[Q] Please tell me my phone is not bricked, thankyou.

It all started when I was having trouble downloading an app of the play store, looked online to see what needed to be done so cleared the cache and data of the store and its services; rebooted the phone and now it's...stuck (in limbo or purgatory) on the xiaomi.com logo. I'm using a rooted htc desire, what's the problem?

First of all, that's my signature and here I removed it for you.
Secondly, take out your battery wait a min or so, then try going to recovery or download mode. If you can't access any of them then only the company could help.

For recovery first turn off your phone (i.e. take out the batterie, wait some secs and reinsert).
Push the vol-down button an hold ist. Then power on the phone.
Now you should be in recovery.
Hope this helps.

Did someone try doing something like down grading?
Your symptoms sound like someone tried to flash a froyo ruu on a device that had gingerbread on it which means your bootloader is possibly messed.

Is your bootloader unlocked? Is it S-Off? Did you flash a custom ROM? Did you wipe /system? What exactly did you do to get it into that state?

Im not really sure if the bootloader is unlocked since I didnt use this phone before, but pressing power button + vol- doesnt do anything, my friend who is the owner said that the phone was rooted he wiped everything in the system options, after that the phone did not start anymore and got the problems mentioned before
He might of formated something for the phone to boot up properly, tryed flashing ruu or ADB(ANDROID DEVICE BRIDGE)

Flashed bad Rom while porting

I was attempting to port SlimRom for the Desire 816, and I stupidly forgot that the one m7 had a different screen size. As a result, the phone screen doesn't work. I attempted to reboot into recovery, except for that you need a complete off and volume complete off and volume + down. with no screen, all I can do is reboot. adb is no help either. Please Help me!:crying:

Once you see it power off let go of all the keys then quickly press Volume Down+Power and it will allow you to get into the bootloader. You can then proceed to the recovery from there.

Iv tried but it doesn't seem to work. I was able to drain the battery so it might work now
Update: I fixed it, the only way was to wait for battery to drain and then go into recovery...

HTC won't boot

I tried to root my HTC Desire 820. While rooting it with supersu i checked reboot system instead of wipe cache/delvik (which is probably why it wasn't detected as rooted). I noticed it, so I went back in, and while choosing .zip directory i went away for ~5mins and now my phone doesn't boot (LED doesn't blink either); battery is well over 80% and charging. What should I do?

Well if I had to guess I'd say it's a screensaver because I didn't really press anything; I can't access it in anyway, unless there is a special type of button combination?

Try holding power and VOL+ together for some times. It should then bring up the HTC boot screen. Then the device should start boot normally again.

You are welcomed?.
For most of the Android device that has a non-removable battery (not by screws), VOL+ and Power button is a universal trick to force reboot/shutdown your device.
