What happened before this?
Did someone try doing something like down grading?
Your symptoms sound like someone tried to flash a froyo ruu on a device that had gingerbread on it which means your bootloader is possibly messed.

the 1 post is the original and current problem..

Is your bootloader unlocked? Is it S-Off? Did you flash a custom ROM? Did you wipe /system? What exactly did you do to get it into that state?

Im not really sure if the bootloader is unlocked since I didnt use this phone before, but pressing power button + vol- doesnt do anything, my friend who is the owner said that the phone was rooted he wiped everything in the system options, after that the phone did not start anymore and got the problems mentioned before

He might of formated something for the phone to boot up properly, tryed flashing ruu or ADB(ANDROID DEVICE BRIDGE)

Problem when i tryed "one click to root" (black screen with HTC Desire and "/!\")

Problem when i tryed "one click to root" (black screen with HTC Desire and "/!\")
Hello,
I tryed to root my phone using "unrevoked".
I installed HTC Sync to have the drivers, and then, i removed it.
Unrevoked asked me to connect my phone to the PC. I did it. It printed a "warning window" (as often), and i pressed ok.
It rebooted my phone on fastboot mode, and the window on my PC says "Waiting for bootloader mode".
This was not written on the tuto that i was looking for, and then, i tryed to reboot on recovery, to reboot the phone normally.
Now, it dosen't want to boot, and print a black screen with a HTC Desire and "/!\" this red sign.
Any help please ? :/

Thanks for the link but there is no the same situation as mine. :/
It says that we have to boot in hboot mode, but i tryed to boot on recovery after this step to reboot my phone "normally". And now i have this black screen with a picture of HTC Desire and "/!\", and i don't know what to do now. :/
What happens if you hold volume down and press power button you do this from Fastboot not recovery
When I press volume down and power at the same time on this "black screen with HTC Desire picture and /!\", nothing happens.
What happens if i remove the battery ? Brick ?
Press volume up and power. What happens then?

The phone has to be switched off to get into fast boot menu you won't get the menu if the phone is switched on
That screen is the one you get before you actually enter recovery by pressing vol up and power at the same time. Can you show us a picture of the screen? It's ok if you cant

If the power button doesn't do it yes
As long as you can get into fastboot menu you can root the phone with unrevoked
But do it properly!
Install drivers from here
unrEVOked modified USB driver
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install
After installing driver
In Device Manager
make sure Android Bootloader Interface is listed under Android Phone. (Drivers installed on PC)
Fastboot phone ( Volume down then power button)
Select Hboot menu
Connect Phone to PC confirm phone says "HBOOT USB PLUG"
Run Unrevoked as admin phone rooted
Then if you have a backup restore that or install new rom as recovery should now be working
Ok thanks, i'll try.
I'll remove the battery because it don't turn off with power button.
When i'll try to boot, have I to root in now, or can i boot in "normal mode", and try to root it tomorrow ?
Thanks for your help.

Hey guys I really need help here. I have no clue how but my phone into some weird mode displaying the message in the title. I have a stock Nexus and didn't try to flash or anything like that.
I tried everything on the internet but nothing seems like its working. I am a real noob and need any advice. Is there a way to get the phone back to normal without having to unlock it, root or something like that?
you most likely turned it on without realizing that your fingers are on the volume down and power at the same time. try pulling the battery and turn on the phone again

You put your phone into download mode somehow.
At least, if your title is what your talking about.....then yea, your in download mode.
If you didn't flash anything....try just pulling the battery and restarting the phone.
I tried that. Nothing is working; the phone gets stuck on the google logo and then the logo itself goes and comes back really quickly then the phones turn off. When the phone turns off it takes 10 mins to get it up again!! No clue...
Now the phone won't turn on.

Is the battery now dead? Will the phone turn on when its plugged in?
I got back to the same screen now, I removed the battery and phone won't even turn off. It's stuck on the same screen even without the battery??? what's going on?
Update: Ok the phone turned off and then I tried to turn it on. It goes to the Google logo and then the screen goes blank.

Can you get to the bootloader?
Vol. Down + vol. Up and power together.
If so then you'll be fine. Just flash a factory image.
There are a few threads that will go through the process in more detail than I am willing to at 6:08am!
Is there a way to take my photos and contact from the phone while it's in the downloading mode or any other way before I flash it. Or am I screwed? I don't have my stuff synced with google+

If the phone doesnt completely reboots to android, I dont think you can get your photo's.
Can you still get in fastboot mode?
my phone is doing the same thing, the downloading screen. I am totally stock, and i can easily turn my phone on and off except i wanna get into bootloader to flash CWM recovery and i cant do so because this screen is popping up.

he can if adb is already running on the system. seems to be that he can't.
@op, if you're stuck on download mode, try odin (damn i really hate suggesting it); i was trying to see if heimdall supports our device, have yet to find proof.

Is there a big green outlined arrow box at the top of your screen that says start, and it points to your power button? If so you are just at the Odin screen instead of your boot loader screen. You get here by just holding vol down and power instead of of holding both vol up/down and power which would bring you to the bootlloader. Also your phone obviously needs to be off before doing either of these. If in fact you are at the Odin screen simply push power and your phone will boot.

It sounds like your volume-down button might be stuck in the pressed-down position (or just shorted out). If that is the case, every time you try to turn your phone on, you will see the screen you described. You can try pressing the volume buttons many times to see if you can get the volume-down button unstuck. If you can't, you can replace the buttons fairly cheaply.
Of course, it could be caused by something else entirely, but that's what it seems like to me.

If the vol-down button is stuck, try booting it up with both up and down held. You might be able to get either recovery or bootloader.

[Q] Xperia S bricked ?

I was installing cyanogen mod 10 via CWM and everything went fine until I rebooted after installing. The phone would not reboot in to android.
The phone is stuck on a black screen with no power light showing - it vibrates if I try a hard reboot but that is the limit of what it's doing. When it was plugged in via USB the computer installed a couple of drivers but that's it as far as any form of life goes.
Does anyone have any ideas ?
Is your bootloader unlocked?
CM10 only works on unlocked bootloader.
If your bootloader is locked, use PCC or Update Service to repair your phone.

Do this -
1. Download stock ics ftf and prepare to flash it using Flashtool by androxyde
2. Press and hold the power and volume up combination until you get 3 vibrations
3. Now holding the volume down key, attach the usb cable and allow the flashing to get completed
4. Turn on your phone normally after the flashing and enjoy
Thanks.
I used the sony update service to get up and running again. As far as I was aware the bootloader was unlocked but presumably it was not which caused the problems ?

To turn it off completely, press and hold the volume up + power combination until you get 3 vibrations. At this point, your device will be completely turned off. Now in order to unlock your bootloader, kindly follow this guide - http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
Good luck

Cyanogen Recovery? I haven't seen anyone here use it, and wan't even aware it was supported on this device. Did you get the recovery flashed and operational, than tried flashing the ROM? The exact sequence is not clear, from your description.
thebeanogamer said:
It now will not turn on unless I plug it in, when it will do one of two things. Either it will hang on a photo of a battery, or it will hang on that with the red text at the bottom. It always does the latter when plugged into the wall, and mixes it up when plugged into the computer. If it is the latter I cannot turn it off until the battery dies, but in the case of the former it waits a few seconds then powers off. No combination of buttons will turn the device on. I have backups saved, so if I can get into fastboot I can easily fix it.

Does there seem to be any change in the screen appearance when you do this? Such as the screen looks like it's actually on, but it's only displaying a black screen?
Or any reason to think your vol rocker is broken (does it work when booted to Android OS?)?
