I was installing custom rom cm11 on my xperia m c1904. had installed cwm 6.0.4.6 and wiped all data as indicated. but when i tried to install from zip, it showed set_metadata_recursive some changes failed (class 7) error.. now my phone shows sony logo only in an endless loop and opens cwm recovery when volume up is pressed. what should i do? my bootloader is unlocked hence repairing from PCC doesnt work.
Thanks in advance

CWM is no more there after installing a new rom and new rom won't load. Then i have to flash the stock rom again > root it > install CWM. Again when i install any rom it would install normally but nothing gives a blank screen after reboot and the stock rom is not even there.
The situation is occurring with the following;
Phone: Sony Xperia ARC S (LT18i)
Bootloader: unlocked
Android version 2.3.4 (Build 4.0.2.A.42) -
I have made multiple attempts on installing new roms but nothing works. Every time i reboot after installation im left with a blank screen. Can anyone advise what the problem could be ?
Thanks
Did u flash the kernel for the ROM u flashed ? The ROM will not boot without its kernel.

you must be installing CWM into the system through one touch command prompt program.. as such as soon as the ROM changes and you wipe out data and cache, CWM disappears..try flashing a custom recovery kernel which are available even for stock roms.
Also follow these steps for a custom ROM (eg CM9):
download the ROM, extracted it into a folder, copy the boot.img where you can remember, then copy the original cm9 ZIP - not the extracted folder- into the root of SD..use fastboot mode of flashtools to flash the kernel boot.img which you had copied..its a recovery kernel so CWM should open..wipe out SD data..then cache..and then go into advanced option and clear dalvik..and then proceed to install zip from sd..then gapps.zip if u want..it should install fine..and then reboot.
Press Thanks if you think i was of help to you..:good:

Got it - Yes i was installing CWM within stock rom via market. though i tried to install it through adb/windows but still i guess the problem was all about not installing a custom recovery kernel.
Thanks a lot !

You must flash stock firmware again. You can do it with PC companion or flashing ftf with flashtool. Boot it normally, then root it, and install CWM again.

Bakisha is correct.
But if you flash a kernel that have a CWM support (doom kernel - volume up / Lupus kernel v7 is the search button) then you don't need to re-install the ftf anymore.
You can just manually turn off the phone by removing the battery then boot the phone and use the specific button command to access the recovery mode.
If you still can open cwm, you could mount you sd card and copy the Rom again... You could install it again...

Hello,
so today I've successfully unlocked my BL and wanted to install cm11.
I've downloaded appropriate files, succesfully flashed the boot.img via fastboot. But when I tried rebooting to cwm (while holding vol up button), after Sony logo I only get black screen.
There's no way for booting anything.
I don't want to reflash stock firmware again... what's the matter? Why can't I boot into CWM and install cyanogenmod?
Just to be clear: not only does the cwm not boot, neither does the system.
Jesus christ. Never mind. I got a brain-fart and didn't follow proper instructions. Happens even with the best
Which phone did you have

Hi guys.
I am unable to flash CWM or root my i9082. I followed the guide and even successfully installed cwm but when I boot into cwm it says no command found and automatically boots into stock recovery. Then when I tried to install rooting package from stock recovery it says E:Signature verification failed even though when i have not changed the name of the rooting package.
Can someone help me. I have Android 4.2.2 on my galaxy i9082 duos.
I even tried philz recovery but still same.
Thanks
Guys I have rooted and installed CWM successfully using this :

First of all..... you must place the "UPDATE-SuperSu-v1.25.zip" & "Fix-Recovery.zip" file in the root of external SD card....
While installing CWM using ODIN you must uncheck the "Auto reboot" option in the odin.....
after succesfull flashing of CWM remove the battery for 10 second and reinsert in after 10 sec....
now boot the phone in recovery using "vol up+home+power key" & not to the stock rom..... if you boot into rom.... the CWM will be automatically replaced by the stock recovery.....
after booting into CWM go to Install from SD card and flash the Fix-Recovery.Zip" first and then flash the super user....
and now you are done....
if you cant flash the fix recovery the after booting to rom it will again reverted to stock recovery...
hit THANKS if it helps you....

If you are stuck at the animation it is called bootloop
You just reflash stock .ftf file for your xperia.
It's called as a boot loop . Just re flash (stock rom 4.1.2 or 4.3) .ftf file
here you can get that - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524800
