if you flash any custom recovery it'll knox it up, also on any custom kernel
probably when you'd flash a aosp rom without a custom kernel it can work (but most likely the system will crash)
Probably if there are any touch-wiz based roms with odin, and without a custom kernel (or with removing it from the tar) you could stay safe
but after all i'm not liable if you knox your device up
i've knoxed it up by the way running cm11 with custom kernel from F4K and get up to 21333 in antutu :highfive:
Wooow, antutu is very hight! Awesome performance
Question: knox put up in any kernel mod? If it's thats right i prefer lost my warranty

any custom kernel will knox it up as far as i know, but this maybe doesn't go for build prop tweaks

You can download stock firmware from www.sammobile.com
enter download mode
put the file into PDA or AP in odin
press start
wait until the phone restarted
then you have stock again!
/edit:
you'll probably need to enter the recovery after flashing it and do a "factory reset"

1, It's preferable to flash the same original firmware version.
2. Most Samsung apps won't work, watchon works

Ok I think I'm really f*cked.
I had installed ProBAM 1.2.4 but because I had some serious problems with data loss and not making backups properly I decided to flash official 4.1.2 and then root+install recovery and install Phoenix ROM. After trying to install the 4.1.2 from SamMobile for my carrier(Cosmote GR) using dr.ketan's instructions for stock ROM ODIN said failed. Then my phone booted up and It said something like "Corrupt Android upgrade please use emergency install using Kies". So I installed Kies, followed the instructions and my phone finally booted up, all working! Now here's the problem. I opened settings and it said I had Android 4.3(it also prompted me to make a new update/OTA). So what I want is:
*How can I downgrade to official 4.1.2? I dont care about warranty.
"*How can I reset KNOX WARRANTY AVOID: 1" ? Or at least how can I root 4.3 without tripping KNOX so that I install custom recovery and install new ROM?
Thanks in advance, really need help quick.
You and me again
1. After official update to 4.3 via Kies, afaik no more downgrade to 4.1.2 cause you flashed knox-enabled bootloader too. (Check this!)
2. At this moment there is nothing known to reset knox-counter
3. Knox counter has tripped already, therefor I recommend http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531965 to root.
Stay cool and now you are in the same situation as most people here: You can test as many custom roms as you like.

@Androidwizzard YOU ARE THE MAN!!! OMG you are SOOOOO helpful!! I love when members here are soo nice and helpful to others Anyway tomorrow I will try rooting my phone using that method(I will first for to service to replace the screen like I told you ) but now after reading so many knox threads I'm confused. Here's my question. After rooting and installing Philz recovery, can I flash MJ5 Bootloader and then Phoenix ROM? I want a KNOX free ROM Thanks again
Please check your bootloader with the app z-device, cause I think after that kies-update you should have a newer BL than MJ5 and then downgrading the BL is impossible, don't even try that (in many threads you can read about that failure!)
With the newer BL you can flash all roms 4.3+ here without even thinking about wifi and so on.

https://imageshack.com/i/0wn8lep and https://imageshack.com/i/ngyrblp
So after rooting I can flash any 4.3+ ROM without problems? And how to remove KNOX?
As I have told you: It is a newer BL! (Trying to downgrade will end in bootloop and errors).
And as mentioned in Post #2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531965
for me the best and easy way to root and deknox :good: if you are sure, that knox-count is x1

@Androidwizzard So first I flash Philz recovery with ODIN and then boot into recovery and flash dr.ketan's aroma tool to root and deKNOX right? Do I have to DeKNOX everytime I flash a new ROM or just once?
You do it only one time, cause custom roms are deknoxed :good:
In the moment you have an official rom with knox.

Well not really 100% sure, you need to deknox with the tool, if you flash a custom rom immediatly, but it won't be wrong, so do it that way.

i have so many question ...
if I install a custom rom does my boot loader have to be unlock or i shouldn't care ?
I do i check if my bootloader is unlock ?
Is the carrier is important when you put a custom rom ?
where I can find the gapps file made for my phone ?
1 rom that interest me is wicked sensation rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2286350 it look so sick but once again it says for at&t can I install it if im with rogers because they are the same model ?
it's some little tecnical question that I have can some one help me
Are you on stock Rogers 4.3? If you are, loading a custom recovery will void the warranty by tripping the Knox counter.
If you have no warranty and just want to install a custom ROM, you can install a custom recovery via Odin and flash the ROM you want.

I prefer Philz Touch which is based on CWM because I had problems flashing with TWRP.
There should be no problem as long as the ROM is supported by TWRP.

You shouldn't just go around flashing all the ROMs you think look or sound cool. I would suggest doing your research beforehand. For example, if you want to install the newer KitKat ROMs, you HAVE to be on a JellyBean bootloader. Click HERE for the bootloader guide if you need it.
Also, your TWRP should always be up to date. The link for the latest (may be outdated, idk...)TWRP is HERE
Lastly, if you ever run into any problems and want to go back to stock, or you just want to start fresh and start from scratch, then use this. This has never failed on me. Click HERE
Remember, YMMV.
Best of luck!
I don't think you need a 4.3 bootloader for all ROMs. I have loaded Cyanfox, CM11, and Vidalus which are all 4.4.2 ROMs without issue. I personally prefer to stay away from the 4.3 bootloader because I want the ability to return my phone to stock for warranty purposes.
The OP is running 4.3 stock and the link you provided could brick his phone.

I never said that the OP needed to update his bootloader, I was just mentioning as an example if he wanted to then he would probably need to if he wanted to flash a KitKat ROM.
But you are right, for him, I would stay away from 4.3 since you can't downgrade.
Hey guys I was wonderng if using this app will trip the counter to 1? Or are there other ways to install custom recovery that won't trip the counter?
far as i know any custom recovery. ie twrp, cwm, philz, will all trip counter. stock won't but any others will.

what's stock recovery? oh crap, is stuck recovery available all the time? Like if you messsed up bad on a ROM flash, you can go into stock recovery and restore your system?
Or is that only possible through custom recovery?
the one that comes installed on the phone. i'm not sure if using the twrp app will trip it if you use it to install a custom rom but i do know if you install any recovery other then the stock recovery it will trip it
custom is required to fix a bad flash. it can't be done from stock recovery

what is it exactly that your trying to do. i assume it's not pop your warrenty counter. i also assume your on 4.3. from my own personal experience installing a custom rom kind of requires a custom recovery as you will want to do a backup. i also suggest using an app called samsungtool v 2.0 to backup your efs partition just in case. instructions related to installing a custom rom can be found in any rom thread on here. for the most part it's the same for every rom with exception to a few. but again you do all this on your own. btw this will pop your warrenty counter but if your sure about what your doing and your warrenty is up. might as well pop it.

yeah I bought the phone used heavily on eBay, I guess I want to make it look like i never rooted it, in the future when I want to sell it or however much I can get it (phone is kinda beat up)
What I want to do is install Sky Note Air on my 4.1.2 BL without going to 4.3 BL (I hate that thing with all the stories I've heard). I wonder if I can flash Sky Air with TWRP or if I need Mobile Odin in order to do it without touching my BL?

as long as the rom your trying to flash isn't a 4.3 rom you should be good on the counter. flash counter can be reset with triangle away and the warrenty counter only gets poped on 4.3 roms. 4.1.2 and 4.1.1 are fine. flash a custom recovery and flash any older rom and you should be fine

what is the efs partition?
efs holds all your t-mobile settings. or at&t or whichever company you go through. backing it up is just a precautionary thing. you do it just in case it gets messed up so you can restore it
i found the program i mentioned works and can restore it from your backed up file so
Flashing almost any custom ROM will increment the flash counter on any GN2. If you have the Knox bootloader it will also pop the Knox warranty bit.
The flash counter can be reset by using triangle away. No biggie. Knox can't be reset at this time. I avoid doing anything that would install the 4.3 Knox enabled bootloader it at all possible. If I need to return to stock for whatever reason I simple flash MrRobinson's root66 ROM (stock plus root) and triangle away my flash counter clean then unroot my phone to stock. No way to tell I was not on official firmware with it.
TWRP is not an application. It is a custom recovery like CWM etc. It can functionally do anything the stock recovery can and more. You have to use a custom recovery to flash a custom ROM on the gn2 with very few exceptions.
Stock recovery can be restored via an Odin flash of root66 or the Sammy stock ROM. I usually do root66 so triangle away can clean up the counter and still have stock recovery so as to avoid incrementing the counter after clearing it.

Build.prop edit. Do a nandroid backup first, if you make a mistake you can have problems. Reboot into android. Save a copy of the file as build.bak then edit the build.prop so that any reference to SGH-i317 is changed to SGH-T889. Also anything that shows t0lte or anything similar can be changed to t0ltetmo. There are editor apps in the play store.
If things go bad, simply restore back to your nandroid via recovery. No fuss, no muss.

No de-knox available. Are you still under warranty?
Deknox is available for roms. Not for bootloaders. So, if you aren't already on a knoxed bootloader and want to stay that way do not flash anything stock 4.3+ through odin. I'm not sure of the specifics with the n7100, but with the n7105 4.3+ kernels do not work with 4.1.2 bootloaders (no network) so a custom one is required. Again, if you are not already on a 4.3 bootloader (check by going to download mode and seeing if there is anything about knox there - which would mean you are on 4.3+), then you can flash a custom recovery through odin, and then backup and flash a rom and kernel in the custom recovery. Otherwise, if you are knoxed already, I imagine can flash some stock rom / modem combo.
I've made some assumptions about the n7100 development scene.

No, I am not under warranty, I currently have rooted 4.3 on, and I think it is Stock UK, Rooted and deknoxed

I am just sick of this one having long delay on un lock screen sometimes, and thought a fix may have been done

Phew
I've been waiting for months for an official samsung kitkat update for my phone. (i9195L). Today I checked on sammobile and saw that the update has arrived, for Trinidad and Tobago.
Now that it has been released, I want to know if I can flash it over my Carbon Rom, which has Android 4.4.4.
I want to know if I can go back to stock and flash this new firmware with kitkat on my device via Odin, or if I will have any problem considering I'm actually downgrading to 4.4.2.
Thanks in advance.

Good rule of thumb with OTAs. Don't perform then on a custom rom. I would use Odin to report to stock. Then see if you can get the update via OTA. However keep in mind that the newer update may not have a root method so if that is important to you, check into that. And always back up in recovery! Flashing back to stock should not harm you device.

U won`t really downgrade But take into consideration this :
Do u have Knox bootloader active ? 0x0 or 0x1 in download mode ? Once u flash KitKat u can`t downgrade to samsung jellybean. U can flash aosp again if stock samsung won`t fit u . If u don`t have Knox bootloader i woyld flash an older firmware that does not contain Knox, 2 3 times in a row until u bring your phone to Official not custom and after that flash samsung kitkat. That way u will sure have knox not triggered, all flashed good modem and so and no problems. I think i write too much and u won`t understand a thing ( i`m bad at explaining stuff )

I have Knox set to 0x1 so I guess it's activated, but I don't have any plan going back to jelly bean. i will stay with kitkat.
Besides I think there's already a way to root stock with kitkat via Towel root, so I guess it's a lot of help.

Besides I think there's already a way to root stock with kitkat via Towel root, so I guess it's a lot of help.

I don't completely agree. Towelroot worked on stock 4.4.2 for me fresh after an Odin restore. I believe it doesnt work on HTC phones and something else. Don't hold me to that I could be wrong. But Towelroot should work great for the OP

I'm currently on DU Rom, if I want to test offical Kitkat I have to flash it with odin? And if I want to go back to DU how can I do it? With a backup?

Yes if you stock kit kat without root and such you will need to use odin. Using odin will give you a complete stock. Recovery, kernel, etc. Meaning you won't have a custom recovery to restore a back up. Back up your current setup using your custom recovery and keep the back up on your external storage. If you choose to go back if stock doesn't work for you, you may be able to restore the back up once you re-root and install the custom recovery, but it may cause some errors. I'm not 100% sure that the restore will work or not. My suggestion is to find a stock rom that is only rooted and not modded. Less hassle that way. And much easier to go back to your current rom if you don't want the stock rom.

One question: If I already installed this firmware (kitkat) How can I root it? Towelroot? I don't want to trigger Knox, I want to Root it workout having to enable Knox and put that message with yellow letters..
Edit: I rooted it by installing recovery and flashing the rootkit. So far so good.
