Well guys this is my problem.A week and a half ago i got the Nexus 5 as my new phone, and in the mean time my previous phone the Htc One X was having problems with the battery and so on.Turning off by itself so i sent it for repair here in Slovenia to the authorized repair service in Ljubljana,And today i have got a call from this guy and he said to me that not only the battery but also the motherboard needs to be replaced and that would cost aprociametely 210 Euros with work and that the phone was rooted as it was written on the bootloader "RELOCKED" because to get the new one he needs to send it to Htc in Taiwan where they check them and if it says RELOCKED that they need to pay htc 200 Euros and the week before i was so happy because the Htc One M8 just arrived in my country. So i am asking after being litteraly scre**d by HTC two times, this is the second one and the first one was with my first Android phone the Wildfire S at that phone the digitalizer never worked correctly and every time i have send it for repairs the just factory reseted the phone until i just stopped sending it there as it was in repairs for eat least 5x times.
But still i love HTC phones for the build quality and everithing else,i really do so what is your opinion should i go for the M8 as the Nexus 5 is really fast in comparison to the One X but i miss HTC Sense and that sound quality and power it even cant beat the One X or M8 in this ?

Edit: and if i root the M8 and then S-OFF can i later change the UNLOCKED back to the RELOCKED state as i would really hate it being again without warranty.

Hello,
I have a HTC Desire HD that has just died on me, it just stopped detecting the SIM car. Everything else works just fine.
Gave it to HTC service here in India and they gave me a quote of 13000 INR ($260) to replace it. Since its out of warranty (15 days over) I'll have to bear the expense.
Now I got this phone for 25000 INR($500) it makes no sense to go for this replacement. Now my dilema here is what more can I do with this phone besides using it as a glorifed paper weight
I doubt root it would solve this issue. But would love to hear from you.
Kind regards
I'd just went out of the similar problem. One day my DHD turn off and... That's all ! It just turn of and never came back. I'd to send it to HTC support, they return it to me saying something like "we changed the motherboard".
Now I think "Whatdafuck is this phone whitch can die one day without any aparent reason !!". At it's next death I'll get a Motorola.

Atleast you were lucky that you device was under warranty. I am well and truly screwed.
cheers
Personally, I'd get it repaired, since you could easily get another years' use out of it (more, but other devices will start to make it look old).
That would then work out at $20/month, compared to say $40 ($500/12 months) for a new phone, even via an operator's subsidy.
I'd also let HTC do it so that they can respond directly, should anything go wrong.
Sorry I saw you replied.
If you pay the HTC support can repair your phone.

I would try to buy very cheap non working phone with broken digitizer or similar - many people (at least in europe) sell their phones when they are broken and get new ones. And I would change the mainboard myself. its not that difficult. Ive done it with my old htc topaz...
Suffering at the hands of HTC
Last week, my 1.5 years old Desire 816 was working absolutely flawlessly. 5 seconds later, I pick it up and it is dead! :crying:
The HTC Service Center guys are asking for Rs. 9,700 for changing the Motherboard and I am like WT*. I can buy a new phone at that price. A bit of research and find out that Motherboard issues are very common in HTC. This surely was my last HTC phone.
Now I have 2 questions:
1. Is there any way I can get this phone repaired in the open market?
2. I was using CDMA as my primary number. I am not finding any other reputed manufacturer who has CDMA smartphones. I am not willing to ditch CDMA as of now. Any suggestions for a good smartphone that is not HTC?
Hi, i'm thinking about taking out a contract to get a HTC One X, seems like the best phone that's in my price range, however i'm seeing this offer with my network for a refurbished HTC One X that I get free on a low-pay contract. (meaning I won't have to pay the £100 to get the phone to keep the low-pay contract.) It says it's as good as new, but I was wondering will the refurbishment change any HTC settings or what not that will not allow me to root? I currently have a HTC Desire Z, and like the freedom to flash custom ROM's and change phone settings etc. So will a refurb affect this?
Note: This is what the website says for the refurbishment.
It's a used phone that's been restored to its original state, so it's as good as new. You'll receive a phone, battery and charger. You can start using it straight away!
It'll be same as a new one, except refurbished. Wont be any differences software wise.
You will still be able to root.
Some people are reluctant to take refurbished handsets. The reality is you still get your 12 months manufacturers warranty (can be 24 months in some places) and if anything your refurbished phone has actually gone through more testing than a new handset.

Yeah that's what I thought, I have to say to begin with I was one of those as you so put it reluctant people just because of the refurbishment, but the more I think about it the more appropiate it seems... I need a contract anyway to be honest, at the minute i'm on Pay as you go, which is alright but more often than not I forget to top up, plus it's my birthday in 8 days D) so this could go to that Plus I already have a fine rooted G2 running CM9, so if it does go bad after the warranty always got a backup phone Looks like i'll be the proud owner soon of a refurbished rooted HTC One X Thanks a lot
Has anyone used the Three UK repair service before? got to send my phone in due to phantom touches and not sure how they are normally?

I used them for my desire last year. They took a week. They dont give you a handset so you will need a spare one. I restored it back to stock so im not sure how they would react with a custom rom on it.
I plan on putting it back to stock just weren't sure if they will check the boot loader although the problem I'm having is nothing to do with custom ROMs and is quite obviously hardware

Just send it directly to HTC UK, they have a pretty fast turnaround
sent my three uk hox in last month same problem as you with severe overheating and case had become loose, i had used custom roms but when returning it i went back to stock. it clearly said relocked they didn't ask any questions as to why it was relocked just fixed it and sent it back although when they opened the phone the engineer damaged my case i have a black stress mark on side of phone from the tool they use to open it not only that they changed it from relocked to locked my phone has the same imei number apparently they replaced the main board but surely if that were the case i would have a different imei
I work with three and to be honest I would send mine back to HTC direct. If you have an issue with the repair complain as its the only way to make our service better...
I to have an issue with my one x, it has yellow spots appearing on the screen. Not sure how three would react to my boot loader being unlocked but when I called HTC direct I have them my imei no. He knew I had unlocked it as it was done through their dev site and told me they would fix the screen as its heat burn, caused by charging and watching movies at the same time. And had nothing to do with boot loader unlock. Result

Sent my one x back to HTC direct cutting out 3 when my phone had yellow spots on the screen I had unnlocked the phone so just relocked the bootloader and put the 3 ruu rom back on it and they had no problems in fixing my one x and I had it back in my hands within 4 days I had a great service with them and now my one x is how it should be my advice just send it back to HTC for repair just make sure you relock the bootloader just in case but im sure as long as the problem is hardware related and not a dodgy flash or anything you wont have a problem.
only downside was I had no phone for 4 days but thats something you will have to live without for the time being.
oh and I had to reput all my software back on and re-setup the whole phone lol
Dear all,
this is a farewell to you all after almost a year in the HOX forum.
I would like to thank you all for your help in the noumerous problems I have encountered with my HOX.
After a screen replacement in July and also a mainboard and battery replacement in September the HOX worked for 1 week before experiencing BSOD.
Service said they would have to replace the mainboard and battery once again.
All repairs were done on warranty.
HTC Greece declined to replace the device so I decided enough was enough and went over their head mailing HTC Europe.
HTC Europe at once forwarded request for replcement and within a week came back with official info that my device will be replaced with the HTC One in the upcoming week.
So with my farewell I d like if I may to give a word of advice.
When in problem with your device contact HTC directly through the www.htc.com site mail cause as I understand that Local Dealers are pure rabbish.....
All in all I gain a new device but somehow I am sure I will miss my briliant HOX(when it was working) and our camera as HTC ONE is very bad in that section
wow thats great!!:highfive:
Contacted htc europe before and they contacted me back. The conversation ended with me screaming that they are incapable braindead idiots. They said sir just use your data connection if your wifi is not working that kinda pushed me...over the hedge

I recently had the BSoD on my One x (rooted and flashed with custom rom) I could not boot into bootloader, see the screen when turned on etc due to a constant black screen.
I decided, what the hell, lets try for a repair at HTC, the worst that would happen is they would charge me for the repairs.
Well... To cut a long story short (after waiting 3 1/2 weeks for my phone to come back).... HTC sent me a HTC One!
Just wondering if anyone else has had this instance or if it was an error on HTC's behalf?
Thanks for reading!

Nothing really, Just general day to day usage of the phone, maybe an hour of gaming, social networking, Gmails etc.. Stated getting graphical glitches about a week before the phone's screen went completely off, but never thought anything of it.
They probably couldn't fix it and were out of One X's so they just sent what they had.
Or maybe it was just a mistake ( someone forgot to add the "X" on some paper )
i know one guy who lives just 20 km from my home and he said he also has to send the phone in ...got back also one...because his hox had also problems with apx like mine...i have to wait till next week or so...my phone couldn't be fixed too...my whole system/mainboard is ****ed up...i will see if i get a new mainboard or even new hox...or if i have luck the htc one
