Planning to buy a 8inch tablet. Would like the owners of the tablets, to tell the opinion, which is smooth? I like the multi window in samsung but is it smooth? I saw a review and it was little slow. Thank you in advance
I had the G Pad first and it was really nice. I loved the knock on feature but for my taste the screen was too dim, mainly for movies. Exchanged it for the Tab Pro 8.4 and couldn't be happier. Awesome screen. The only lag I have noticed is a slight pause when scrolling over to the Magazine ui, which I only do accidentally.

Same experience for me. I actually liked the physical design of the g pad better, put the tab pro 8.4 is much faster and the screen is night and day difference.

So if i root it, will it be one of the best experience ever???
Yes, indeed !

Hi I'm thinking of buying a tablet to do some art and was thinking of getting a note 10.1 and saw this tablet as a cheaper option, I wanted to know what the responsiveness is like if I wanted to use a stylus with it (dagi stylus looks good)
Do you recommend me holding out for the 10.1 note or buy this as a cheaper option.
I'm very tempted to buy this tablet but don't want to make a mistake.
Think I should have put this in the gen9 general, can someone move it there please?
Are you talking about the 101it ?
Honestly if you can buy a more recent tab I would suggest you to do it (I heard that the Samsung ones are not that bad)
To be honest I'm not that clued up about tablets, I did see there was a g9 10 inch archos which is cheap if I buy from amazon but after reviews I've read about the touchscreen failing and usb port braking and people having to send theirs back the archos doesn't seem too reliable.
I just wanted option of drawing directly onto a tablet instead of a art tablet connected to my usb on my laptop.
You think I should get one? Would using a stylus cause loads of lag while drawing?

I don't know about the gen9 but the gen8 that I own is not that responsive and precise...
It's way behind your galaxy S3 (at least concerning the gen8)
But once again I've never seen a gen9 so I can't tell anything about it
Thanks, think I'm better off saving then. Nothing wrong with seeking out a bargain though but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

I'm guessing the Gen 10 will be good, but honestly, the note tablet would be my first choice for an art tablet because of the s pen. My note phone is great.

Thanks, had a go of the note 10.1 and it was very responsive, had to press a bit hard to register anything but I loved it.
Looks like I've got to do some saving

I own a g9 tablet with a capacitive stylus. The touch screen is very responsive but have a very bad precision...
A Samsung note will be better for art, due to s pen.
But the only true way to do some art is a graphic tablet with a PC or MAC.

I just got a note 2 and I love the battery usage I get out of it and it's so much smoother and faster than the s3. No lag or stutter. Game play is awesome on it! Nova 3 is smooth and has the same graphic effect as ipad3 with the autofocus and blurr background, smoke, etc. Modern Combat 3 is super smooth. Haven't really fully utilized the spen yet and havent done the OTA to get dual screen mode. I'm contemplating on going back to s3 due the better size of the s3. I just can't really hold the damn note 2 right (no case yet). Too bad I cant upgrade to bigger hands lol. Just wondering if I'm alone here. Everyone in the note 2 loves the device coming from an s3.

I swapped with a friend for a couple days, because we were both curious about each others phone. I have an S3 and he had a note 2. After using it pretty heavily for two days, I couldnt wait to get my S3 back. I like all of the features and specs more on the note 2, but it ultimately came down to size. I use my phone to listen to music at work and at the gym, all day long; so its always in my pocket. Carrying around a note 2 with a dual armor case, feels like I'm carrying a brick in my pocket. Also, I do a lot of moving and bending at my job and the phone was just really uncomfortable to be lugging around. I'm hoping the S4 is the same size, with only hardware upgrades....

I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one that prefers the S3. I bought the Note 2 and returned it after only a week. It was just way too heavy in my hand. So happy now to be back with my S3!
I don't know why it takes people to actually get the tablet to realize is too "big".The note 2 is a mini tablet and it just doesn't have that phone feel obviously because is too big. They are both the same phone just the note 2 is a bigger s3

For me when I tried the phone in store it felt fine but again it was on display and had security cable and charging cable attached to it and was holding it with 2 hand so couldn't really get a feel of how it is to pick up off the table or hold it with 1 hand from prolong period. So now that I have it, it's a bit different.

What decisively made you go Note 2 over S 3?
2Gb of RAM and usability
Spen, 2gb ram, bigger screen, software. Absolutly everything!

Battery for my concern, s3 battery simply not enough for me.
Only had the S3 for 6 months then decided to go bigger. Chose it for it's battery life, bigger screen and much better speaker sound.

Missus has an S3. Apart from being lighter and slightly larger than my HTC DHD it didn't seem special. Still too small to comfortably use as a laptop replacement. It also looks cheaper and more like a toy, my grey note looks considerably smarter.

Reasons I switched to the Note 2 from S3:
1. Stopped eyeing the RAM usage after closing every app.
2 . I barely use my laptop now thanks to the bigger screen for watching movies or editing documents on the go, the S3 could handle it but the screen just felt small and the Note2's S pen helps alot especially with lower DPI.
3. Newer than the S3 and felt like it would be a while before it goes outdated, again it's partly because of the additional RAM which makes it feel future proof for the next year or so.
4. My wife has an S3 and I felt like since I'm bigger than her I should have a bigger phone
5. Because of the wider screen, the keys are bigger and it's more comfortable to type on with both thumbs.
6 . because I think I deserve the best!

Me too. I decided today to get Note 2 after 10 months of owning S3 and S4 seems not to be really big step ahead. Note 2 battery, RAM and screen FTW!
Screen, battery, RAM, in this order!
REALLY???

Unless you don't want a big screen phone, there isn't anything better about the S3 compared to the Note II. The Note II is better in every way possible. If you are truly on the fence about the two devices, then let me tell you to stop wasting you time comparing the S3 vs the Note II and start comparing the S4 vs the Note II.
Hi all,
I'm planning to get one of Samsung's new lineup tablets to replace my LG G pad 8.3 but I can't make my mind which one to get. I like the 8.4 form factor but it has a poor battery (4800 mah) compared to tab pro 10.1 (8220 mah).
A little personal background , I actually use two tablets in my daily life: iPad mini 2 (for browsing, apps) ,and Android powered (for downloading and watching movies and tv shows).
Any word of advice would be highly appreciated

The battery life on the Pro 8.4 is very good for this size tablet. The Pro 10.1 has much more internal area that is why the battery is bigger. The Pro 8.4 has a bigger battery (4800) than your Gpad (4600) and a much better processor. My brother has the retina iPad Mini and the Pro 8.4 has a better screen and the camera is actually pretty good.

Thanks for replying, and yes G pad has 4600 mah which barely gives me 6 hours of screen on time so I figured tab pro 8.4 with higher resolution would fail to achieve even 7 hours in best circumstances. I don't really understand why Samsung didn't provide a bigger mah capacity while apple could with iPad mini 2 which has 6500 mah with the same size (despite square like appearance).

I get 8 to 9 hrs of screen time on the 8.4 with 30% brightness.

I think it is the slippery grip what gives such impression but according to GSMarena http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5735&idPhone2=5946
They surprisingly have the exact wieght 331g, and the ipad mini 2 is just a tad thicker (7.5 vs 7.2).

question in the title.
Are there any direct competitor to the Note line on the market? That is, phablet with stylus.
I believe LG G Pro Lite has stylus.
Thanks.
Seems there is no real competition to the Note II, guess I will get the Note IV for my next phone.
The xperia Z ultra has a special touchscheen that you can use with an actual pen or pencil.
But it's not a Wacom digitizer like with the Note series : no hovering, no pressure sensitivity and I suppose no palm rejection.

Note devices are definitively unrivaled with their stylus.
Other devices may work with some pen input but nothing compared with the complexity of S-Pen and it's programs.
Check out LG series. 2 of its applications are better than Note 2. Very important its for INR 17,000.
So go out compare it yourself hand in hand and then decide for yourself

Xperia ultra is not a stylus device because it's not a digitizer.
