I saw that the ND8 modem was removed from here and the thread for it closed. I am in a very urgent situation where I was going back and forth from newly flashed ND8 stock tar to backed up CM11. I was, maybe, stupid enough to reflash CWM recovery instead of going with the Philz recovery and now my baseband is 'Unknown'.
Please, please, please, anyone that still has the ND8 modem can send me a link via PM, so that we do not go contravening forum rules by posting it publicly, and I will be eternally grateful. Without this, my phone is useless until I can get to the office on Tuesday(I work shifts) and use the stock tar on my laptop in the office. My internet at home is capped and downloading nearly 1GB will burn it drastically.
Thanks in advance to any helper(s).

I know that is the best solution, but like I said earlier, the stock tar I downloaded is on my laptop in the office. I'm at home till Tuesday. Going without service till Tuesday is just unimaginable for me. The 'banned' ND8 modem will fix this just fine for me, since I am already on ND8.
FIXED!!!
I had to download the stock tar and odined again. All working now. Word of caution to all: Do not go back and forth between stock ND8 and AOSP like I did. MODs, you can close this thread please.

There are several ways to accomplish this..
Do you have any experience using Odin? You can flash the original Fi27 tar which would take you back stock unrooted. You can locate that in the Stock ROM Repository by RWilco.
You could flash the rooted one click (you'll need to do the restore, not the no data) then you'd have to remove root.
Or you could flash an old GB build and then update the really long way and be pure stock.
Yes you can flash back to ics the same way to did to fk23. Go to dev section and download odin 1 click restore fi27. It will fully wipe and will put phone to brand new state.

i was looking for it n found it but i also see [OC] FI27 Full Stock ROM One-Click.exe does it matter if it sez oc or odin???
OC means one click and they are odin based. Easiest way to get back to stock or stock rooted.
never mind i got it thanks again guys

Hey guys/ gals,
Im new at posting here but not new at lurking around on the forums...
anyways like the title says, i unrooted with SuperSU before i used triangle away. so now i cannot flash the stock rom.
i am following "Towle's" guide on ((How-To Completely Unroot Your Galaxy SIII |Zero Flash Counter|"Normal" Status)) now. but before that i got carried away.
my question is how can i re-root or take away the triangle in order to go back to stock?
Thanks in advance
Odin to the latest firmware, which you can find in this forum or at sammobile. Then root your phone like you did b4. By this time you can use triangle away and odin back to the latest firmware without triggering any flash counter.

EDIT: thanks for your quick replies!
No. You can use odin.
I'd suggest Odin flash the root66 firmware, then use triangle away, then odin the stock firmware. Thats it!
Everything you need is in my sig. (Except triangle away.

so i have UVALEM and i noticed that when i click on the T999_UVALEM it sends me to a link called minus(dot) com???
also does it matter if i download this:
"((Old Image
Note: This is based off of the stock image TMO T999UVALH2 (August 4.0.4 ICS)
Perm Mirror: Download - root66_TMO_T999UVALH2.7z))"
if i am a UVALEM since i noticed its from UVALH2?
Ill check the link in a few. Just got home. But any of the official firmware should be fine to use (assuming you're doing this for warranty)
Not sure what ypu were asking about UVALEM and UVALH2.
LEM was the original firmware when first released.
LH2 was the last official ICS release.
Either one should be ok to use.

i thought we were supposed to be consistent with the Baseband version. since mine says T999UVLEM i thought i was only supposed to DL files that said UVALEM..lol ok, im probably making this harder on myself than it really is. im getting it now. but im still not able to download the Firmware. keeps directing me elsewhere.
EDIT: i see what you mean now. i have right now 4.0.4 ICS,
so i went ahead and started to download the latest route66 for JB 4.1.2....instead of the 4.0.4... (i thought i was supposed to stay with 4.0.4 lol)
so does the baseband change according to the firmware?
also the Route66 4.0.4 ICS is the one that the link is broken.

Ok, I see what you meant now. I think youve got yourself on the right track now though. The firmware includes everything you need. It will update your system, modem, recovery, kernel as well as several other partitions (you dont need to ever worry about them though)
So Yes, if you flash the MD5 firmware, you will end up with the latest of everything. Your baseband will change to MD5 along with everything else.
The Root66 firmware isn't mine. MrRobinson has a thread dedicated to it and I only direct link to his files just to make them easy to find. I think he took down some of the early ones, or minus.com may have terminated his account. Ill mention it to him, but I wouldnt worry about it and just flash one of the others he has available.
The baseband comes with the firmware, so it does not matter which firmware you odin

thank you kenny sorry about that :/
I have seen many posts on this issue but I still didn't get a clear answer. Since many had the same issue thought this mat deserve a thread. I am a new bee hence the questions.
We know that the free unlock does not work with 4.1.2.
We also know from several threads that flashing older modem solves the problem
atti317ucalj2modemfixed from previous threads (several thanks to other users who provided this information)
I am having some difficulties in updating the modem
I provided modem.bin file in Odin & used Phone button and Auto reboot. Odin fails to upload the modem. Am I doing something wrong?
Can I directly upload modem.bin or do I need to convert it into something else (tar)?
Am I getting the correct modem (baseband) files?
What is the best way to flash or install the modem/baseband without rooting the device. I don't have an option of rooting as I need to connect my phone through Good (does not work on a rooted device)
Any help will be appreciated.
You need to flash the entire 4.1.1 ROM. Not just the modem. Once you unlock by using the instructions in one of the existing threads you can simply hit the update button and go back to 4.1.2

Based on what I have read from the forums, people still can't access certain options in the modem after flashing the entire rom. Have you tired it? Which rom have did you use? Samsung-Updates.com-SGH-I317_ATT_1_20121005095854_bpaaavv07o.zip from hot files?

Well that's the easiest way to flash anything on the phone!! Is using TWRP recovery.
You can try this then, when your done you can UN root it thru the superuser app.

STOP!!! PLEASE READ!!! Before you flash this zip file in recovery, you MUST FIRST flash either the NDC tar(see below for link),
or the ND8 tar, in order to obtain the KK bootloader and modem. If you flash this directly over JellyBean bootloader, you WILL brick!!
Alright folks, here we go again. Just as the title says, this is the NDC 4.4.2 Kit Kat update for Boost/VM in flashable zip.
Stock, rooted, busybox, zipaligned, odex or deodex. That’s it. Pretty basic. More to come in the future, but this should be enough
to keep you busy for awhile. Enjoy!
Notes: PLEASE READ!
1. In order for this to work, you need to flash the NDC tar first! Flashing the tar will/should not wipe your data.
2. And yes, NDC tar does come with Knox, so if you flash the tar, you have Knox. And if you flash CWM via Odin to flash this,
it WILL trip Knox, thus voiding your warranty.
3. This MAY cause you to lose your modem, but not to fear, we got you covered.

This is from jmatherly11, over at Android Forums, who found a good way to get rid of the "Samsung" title in the drop down, as well as some other stuff.
For those of you that are seeing "Samsung" in the pull down menu as well as the network type displaying "Samsung" there is a fix in the PlayStore, its called "Refresh Customization" by Samsung MNO Labs. This will factory reset your phone after you download select the first option called "Refresh Customization Opt1," if it is unsuccessful try "Opt2." This fixed my phone after the KitKat upgrade and if your like me and use Sensorly to map Sprint's network it will not correctly map the info because Sensorly thinks you on a network called "Samsung."
This app was designed for Samsung Galaxy devices ONLY running on Sprint's networks. If a Samsung device's initial customization settings has been lost due to the system upgrade to the KitKat platform then this is your fix. This also repairs the "My Account" app that displays "MobileZone."
Also my device is completely stock on 4.4 so for those of you that are rooted I have no idea if this will work.

awesome work JD, I don't post a lot because I do a lot of reading and I find I do not usually have to post because if you do your research everything is covered. But this one has me concerned as it seems a little out of my league. I do not think I am a noob but, not far past. Can't I just flash that car and then the zip using the custom recovery I already have? It's business as usual right? Just flash those items in the order and then the new modem and I'm good to go? Just a little nervous and thank you for all of your hard work and answering my question in advance. I love the work you guys do and I think it's awesome everyone in this community stick together and help each other. Anyways I will lay back in the bushes and patiently watch for a response!

Question 1: Do you have to use Odin?
Answer: You'll need to be on the ND8 or NDC bootloader for this to work. When he says you have to use Odin, he means for flashing the stock tar for either the Sprint ND8 or the Boost/Virgin NDC ROMs. The tar files can't be flashed from recovery and please don't try to use Mobile Odin, as it doesn't like ND8/NDC.
Question 2: Can you revert back to 4.3?
Answer: You can revert to 4.3 insomuch as using a 4.3 ROM. You can either flash a 4.3 zip from recovery or restore a CWM/TWRP/etc. backup . You will not be able to revert your modem or bootloader to anything prior to ND8 after flashing the ND8/NDC bootloader. It just doesn't work.
Hope that helps.

Most notice no change but you may have better reception with the NDC modem, no guarantees. They are about the same, just carrier specific. You can always flash back to ND8 tar if you do decide to try it, just fyi.

Hello, and again, thanks in advance for this.
I have searched all over the internet, and I can not seem to find a stock ZVC recovery image for the Sprint LS980.
My friend is not tech savy, and I am tired of having to fix his screw ups, so I just want to put him on stock, but I dont have the download speeds to download the full firmware where I am at. Can anyone please link me to a stock recovery.img (preferably ZVC).
He is just stock rooted, so I just want him on stock recovery so he cant mess it up. I am gonna remove his root after too.
Again, Thank you again. It is much appreciated.
