I am currently running slimbean ROM v2.2 and am desperately looking for a custom kernel with undervolt capabilities to help extend my battery life. I have googled until I was blue in the face and can't seem to find any sources for kernels for my sgh-t989. Does anyone know of good kernel and have a link for its download?

Look for gingertiny kernel, or incredikernel. You can find both here http://www.incredikernel.com/?page_id=10, along with incredicontrol and app for tweaking kernel settings.
thanks for your answer! one last question which of the 2 is more stable gingertiny kernel or incredikernel? Both are installed recovery is true?

Hi everyone! Forgive me if this has already been posted, but I searched and couldn't find what I'm looking for. Just like the title says, I'm looking for the cifs modules for the cm10 m1 kernel 3.0.42. I flashed from stock JB and now I can't seem to get my cifs manager to connect. I tried a few different ones for various kernels and didn't have any luck. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch.
Regards,
Bennie
The Trinity Alpha56 kernel has CIFS support built into the kernel itself, so you wouldn't need the modules if you used that kernel. It should he compatible with CM10. You can download it from derkernel.com.

It works. I'm always skeptical of kernels though. Some chew battery, some aren't stable. We'll find out in a few days!

Glad cifs works. The Trinity kernels in general seem to be stable and good on battery if used with default settings. I use them exclusively and haven't run into any problems. YMMV.

it's chewing my battery... took it off the charger at 8am and I'm down to 18%... going to try and troubleshoot what is causing the drain... if the kernel has been determined as the culprit, i'm going to have to try a different one...
So I'm searching around for a kernel that will work with my ATT S3 running Rooted Stock Touchwiz (Updated to Jellybean 4.1.1.. This is what ATT released) but I'm not finding anything so far. I've seen kernels for other S3 but for different carriers.
Are there any kernels that work with Touchwiz that would improve battery life? If so can someone provide me a few links or even names of kernels you use.
I tried CM10 but find myself coming back to Touchwiz.
Any help would be appreciative.:fingers-crossed:

This question is asked many times. Yes flashing a new kernel would help.
I advice you to flash NCX kernel.
You can read more about this or other kernels available for AOSP Roms in the Original Development thread.
EDIT: In my own experience, Sense roms have better battery life in comparison to AOSP roms. But AOSP roms come with lots of goodies! Easier life!
Stable xm is also good. I guess 188(v4)
You can not flash franco, since it is based on ICS source.
So will the NCX kernel work on CyanogenMod 10.1?? Will it help improving the battery life?

Why do you want to OC?? I think that you see zero efect. Only battery drain and bigger heating.
Better way is undervolting less heating, better battery life
