I found the tablet came with a bubble filled transparent screen guard. . And there is an 'r' in the registration number. . Does that mean it's refurbished?

Sure it is, your new Note should not at the first place come with a screen guard, that`s an accessory you could get it later on.
So yes yours is a refurbished unit.:crying:
Could you be more specific? And uhmm . . Leave out the sarcasms?

There is no sarcasm in my reply to your post, just clearly stating that normally NEW units doesn`t come with a screen guard or a screen protector, so if yours came with one of these , then for sure it is a USED or REFURBISHED one.
How can I prove it's refurbished?? Cause I took off that shabby screen guard and put a new one immediately. So lost that claim right away

Seems that you purchased this online, if so re-check with them if they clearly mentioned on site being used or refurbished.
Don`t know about the returning policy.
I purchased it from a nearby retail shop. . Any ideas on how I can make my claim

I just received my replacement t989 from TMobile, and realized my original phone's screen quality was horrible! I powered them on side by side, and my new phone looks clear as day with bold colors, and my original phone looks distorted and VERY yellow! I will post pictures after work. Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes. Also got a replacement recently and I can attest the screens have gotten better on the newer-made phones.
Updated OP with a picture I took of them side by side. You can clearly tell which one is which.
Same here, my previous t989 screen was crappy and the moment I turned on my replacement phone I noticed a huge difference with the screen quality, felt like I am using a whole new phone.

I think the replacement just has a better screen. I don't see them degrading to that extent, especially in this short of time.
If you have insurance T-Mobile discounts the exchange to only $5 and you get free overnight shipping.

if it's a replacement from Tmo then it's likely a refurbished.

A lot of time with new fones, they don't have any reverbs so you get a new one in a white box -batt. and back cover.
But other than a good visual inspection its almost impossible to tell

There are a few ways to tell for sure....
It doesnt matter what it comes in...its all same packaging new or furb....
(Unless from store)
1. Look at the sticker on the back..(new)non-refurb phones will have the white sticker with a blue sammsung logo... reburbs come with a smaller white sticker no sammy logo...
2.If you call tmo they will not tell u if its new.... BUT.... if u call in and ask for an unlock code u will give them ur emei number... they will look it up... if NEW it WILL NOT Be in there system... if its a RE-Furby the emei will show up.. because someone else once used it... they can not erase imei's... (or Dont...
ALL a refurb is ...
1.a new case
2.new flash of firmware
3. (Possible) work done on phone motherboard...ect.. ^SUCKS CnB^
Hopefully ur refurb is just 1 and 2 ehh
Or a new one.....

Like the post says my sticker is wearing off...guess its from trying to keep my fingerprint magnet clean. Is it important? Do I need to copy the numbers down before they totally wear off? Has anyone peeled theirs off?

what i did was just take it off and stick it to the box my lgog came in, which is a bit redundant because the box already has the number on it lol

There's no need to keep it on. There are multiple ways to get the number through the software should it ever be needed for any reason. It is even located underneath the back housing, in case of complete device failure.
Thanks peeled what was left of it off...too bad the LG logo on the front doesn't come off that easy.

Can you explain? I've got a phone that has a cracked screen but regardless of what I do I can't stop it from randomly rebooting. Would this possibly be covered as well?
