[Q] Rooted HTC One M7vzw S-Off KK Rom Trouble - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Ok so I'm exhausted at this point because I can't find a fix anywhere, and am fairly certain the issue I've been having is due to my flashing a custom ROM with an incompatible Firmware or something of the sort.
The basics are I have an HTC One M7 from Verizon that was on JB when I first purchased it. I HATED Blinkfeed, but also a lot of the sense things. I had previously rooted and put a custom rom on my HTC Incredible and had a totally amazing experience.
So I ran with the M7 and custom rom for over 6 months without issue. Finally I found out that dev's had found the exploit to get rooted users up to date with the new 4.4.2 KitKat. So I read up on the flashing instructions from a couple of different sources, researched the Developers I was interested in Rom's from, and eventually flashed a Venom Rom. Well immediately my freshly wiped clean rooted, s-off phone, now running
3.1.605.1, HBoot 1.56, and supercid started having troubles. I would wipe/flash/boot run on the ROM for a few days, it would crash, I would wipe/flash STOCK/boot let that sit for a while, then wipe/flash another ROM/ boot etc.etc.
So now to the issue. I cannot get audio out of anywhere else on the phone besides just holding it up against my head. No speaker phone functionality, No headset, No ringtones, No Notification sounds, No touch sounds of any kind, ZIP, NADA. No matter what I flash STOCK/Custom ROM/XXYYzz same issue no sounds. I can place calls and get calls fine, but only if I am actually holding my phone to feel it vibrate. If I'm in a call people can hear me just fine as long as I am holding the phone to my ear and talking. If I try plugging in my headset suddenly they can't hear me, nor I them. If I try to put the phone on speaker, same thing occurs, it's almost as if we are both on mute. Then there is the strange and unusual issue of me not being able to get a single sound out of the phone. No matter what I do I can't get it to make a peep.
For days I have been trying to find a fix for this issue, to no avail. So I turn to the community and hopefully you all can be of some help!
Specs are below. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried doing an ruu to conpleet stock to see if it still happens, or are you just flashing stock roms? If you do an ruu and the sound still dosent work, its more than likley a hardware issue.

Yes I have tried both the ODEXED and DEODEXED versions for my version/system.
It's crazy that this problem hasn't been encountered before, and/or been discussed in the search terms I have been using.
At this point I am running completely stock with the exception of being rooted and S-Off with an unlocked bootloader. If I can't find a way to wipe & restore the entire phone contents from fastboot/bootloader/ADB shell commands, I am just going to give up and reset, lock, and S-On so I can bring the phone to Verizon to get another.
This is just the last of many problems I have had with this phone since I got it. My husband has the exact same phone, and hasn't had any of the problems I've had.
I wouldn't say I am a n00b with adb and fastboot, flashing recoveries & ROM's, but I am not a coder, and really can only operate the basics without a coder's help.

Odexed and deodexed refer to roms, not ruu's. You need to do an ruu thru hboot using fastboot commands.

My apologies, I have flashed and done so much in fastboot over the last few days my head is spinning.
I downloaded a 2.10.605.1 RUU Decrypted file, went into fastboot and downgraded my system. Hoping that the entirely different operating system would get the speakers working. NOPE
At this point I'm exhausted, tomorrow I plan on finding the thread that has the steps to get everything locked and back to stock and use the warranty for this POS. I miss my Incredible
Thank you so much for you help though, I appreciate someone responding.

Well if you did the ruu, all you need to do is take the kk ota, then use fastboot commands to lock the bootloader and then go s-on.

That's my plan I'm downloading the needed file to remove the tampered/relocked warning before going s-on. What makes me sad is everything was fine with my phone (unlocked and all) until I broke down and decided to update to KitKat.
Thank you for being responsive to me. The first few days I was feeling very sad that no one had given any kind of response to my issue. You also were the only person who responded to another cry for help by me a few weeks back when this all started. So thank you again for being such a valuable member of this community, even when you have to repeat yourself, I'm sure, many times to those of us who are just starting to get the hand of all this information/terminology/etc. :good::good:

Need help Flashing stock Android 2.3.5 ROM

Hi, I've got a Desire HD phone which I got unlocked and unbranded from the start and it came with some version of Froyo out of the box. Since then I've updated it through via wifi and currently it's on GB 2.3.5 and after the last update the phone has been telling me that it has no updates available. Furthermore, I have never flashed or rooted this phone so it's still a virgin
Further information on my phone is as follows:
Android Version: 2.3.5
HTC Sense Version: 3.0
Software Number: 3.13.707.4
AND some pics of the specs are in the attachment, please check them out.
Now due to some performance issues I wanted to reinstall either 2.3.5 or lower version of gingerbread or if possible the latest version of Froyo available for my phone. I have already tried restarting, taking out the battery, doing factory reset, wiping the phone and sdcard both from within the phone settings and from the HBoot and Recovery menu as well to no avail.
So I would like to ask you guys for steps and possible links to correct RUU for re-flashing the stock version of unbranded 2.3.5 or lower version of gingerbread or if possible the latest version of Froyo. I don't want to mess with the phone too much by going into the rooting and installing custom ROMS just yet, but that would be my last resort if all else fails.
I'm a newbie so please be gentle in replies
Thanks in advance!
STOP STOP STOP DONT DO ANYTHING!
don't flash any froyo ruu or wwe this will mess your hboot and you'll be in a whole world of hurt.
If you've done a factory reset you shouldn't be having performance issues as that takes you back to factory condition of course.
How ever
Your first course of action now should be goto market and get emmc checker and see if you have the bad chips (sain I think).
If you dont have issue I suggest you do HTCDEV unlock and root your phone or flash a new rom, ive only used SVHD which is ics sense rom which is pretty damn awesome, but im moved on to samsung galaxy s4 (unrooted) now so haven't used newest version yet.
Have a look around the dev forum there are a few really good guides .

I recommend getting s-off and unlocking the HBoot to get the best performance from your phone. I must say that this is not for the faint-of-heart and things sometimes can and do go wrong .
I bought a second hand Desire HD running stock Telus GB for very little money so I didn't have much to lose if I pooched the phone. If you do decide to unlock the HBoot, make sure you upgrade to 2.00.0029 first.
What performance issues were you having?

Ran that app and it says " Brick Bug? NO. Sane Chip "
So I'm guessing my phone is good, right?
I've been having some major bugs popping up on my phone ever since I upgraded to the 2.3.5 update. My phone camera gets stuck while taking pictures, at times it has restarted my phone when I take a picture, the GPS/Location keeps popping up at every boot and I can't seem to disable it, the Connect To Computer message which used to let me select in which mode I want to connect my phone to the PC has stopped showing up and the phone only connects in charging mode to the PC, the speaker phone keeps turning itself on whenever I make a call or receive a call. I've read up on all these bugs on many forums and tried all the solutions to no avail, I have already done factory resets, battery pulls, cleaning of the usb connector, tried different usb cables on different computers, formatted the memory card etc, but none of these things worked for me.
So I'm left with one choice only, that is to erase everything on this phone and flash a fresh ROM onto it to see if it fixes the issue. And just to be on the safe side I want to install anything lower than 2.3.5 since that's when all these bugs popped up one by one for me. And I don't want to root my phone just yet or unlock it or do any experiments with it yet.
So my question is, how do I backup my current ROM in case if anything goes wrong I could revert back to this one and then how do I flash an official earlier version of GB compatible with my phone and where to get this ROM. Since my phone came unbranded and unlocked, I'm assuming the WWE versions would work well for me right? I once saw in my phone somewhere that it told me I have htc_asia_WWE version on my phone, if that helps. But I would rather get an English only version which has no other language settings in it, like chinese, vietnemese etc etc which my phone currently has.
Thanks in advance!

I guess you could run the RUU but since you think its wwe_asia it will be tricky to get a proper link for your RUU.I'd suggest unlocking the BL and if you're only after the stock ROM, flash Android Revolution HD 6.6, it's stock.First you need to upgrade the HBOOT though, you need .0029 for the unlocking process. You unlock the BL via HTC's site afterwards.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38947050&postcount=10
Download HBOOT Update Kit and rom.zip from attachments there.Put the rom.zip exactly in C, and the update kit doesn't really matter, aslong as it's in a folder.Make sure you have your drivers installed, found here , install them.Run the hboot update.bat, but turn on usb debugging first.

I did get a RUU which meets my specs exactly, or so I think:
http://www.shipped-roms.com/downloa...60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_234022_signed.exe
I ran it, updated my phone, it's the same version which is already on my phone, it completed without any issues, but the bugs are still there. So I'm assuming it didn't really reinstall the software from scratch, it just updated the software without making much changes to it, pretty much like a factory reset, right???
Can you please tell me why we need to unlock the HBoot??? Is it to enable us to flash custom roms???
What I want to do is erase the 2.3.5 GB software completely from my phone so it has no trace of it, then install stock/untouched 2.3.3 GB or any other GB version compatible with my phone. So please provide steps and insight into this process.
Thanks

Updated and unlocked my Hboot and now it's on 29 with S-Off.
I flashed CWM recovery, installed SuperUser and flashed the latest version of SVHD and rebooted but phone won't start, after the HTC logo with a white background, the screen goes black as if the ROM can't boot.
Could this be a SuperUser issue or a S-Off issue? I'm not sure if SVHD requires S-On to function properly and it's nowhere mentioned on the thread either.

Did you do full wipe before flash?
Apparently you really should be using 4ext recovery on dhd as clockwork doesnt quite do the job right?.

Choose full wipe in aroma installer. i recommend you to used SVHD 1.70 then upgrade OTA 1.73. does not flash version 1.74. this got so much error.

Need some help with my M8 after flashing ROM

SO, let me start off by mentioning that I am not a noob, but I JUST got this HTC M8 ( moved from M7 ) , I unlocked the bootloader and flashed a custom recovery and rooted it, but I am having a problem every time I flash a custom ROM.... Any time after installing a custom ROM , the boot time on the phone becomes RIDICULOUS, I mean 5-10 mins EVERY time, not just initial boot ... The phone sits at the " this builld is for developers only blah blah blah" warning with the HTC logo in the back for a solid 5 mins usually, then the screen will turn off, and when I turn it on, it will be fine, but while it's in that state ( "loading?" ) if I receive a text message, I will still get both haptic and audio feedback, any ideas? I was trying to flash ARHD!
FLASHING STOCK ROM GETS RID OF THIS! ( but I want a custom ROM )
What custom rom and did you update your firmware already ?
I had the same issue. It's the firmware mismatch. The ROM is built on a different firmware than the one you are currently on.
Most of the time flashing the correct firmware will require S-off... (Sunshine was the only one that worked for me)
I've never run into this before on other phones or ROMs so it was definitely a learning experience for me.

ROM is Android Revolution HD and, no, I haven't updated my firmware yet. Is there a way to do it without S-OFF? Firewater doesn't work, and I realllllly can't afford to pay $25 for software to do it for me, after all , as a programmer, I know it's probably one line of code that changes it from firewater lol, in the end, they need to do the exact same thing, it's not like there's many different ways to achieve S-OFF, they all essentially follow the same process. Someone is just being greedy ( they probably designed SunShine for themselves, then thought " heyyyyyy profit", not cool in my books )

Thanks for the help, managed to find a way around!
I didn't S-OFF yet, but I reverted to stock, and did the 4.4.3 OTA which bumped my FIrmware version past the ARHD 10.2 version, and now it works flawlessly!
Yeah, it's firmware, I also had this issue until i fixed it few days ago. I'm s-on (can't go s-off) and I've made it to upgrade my firmware to the newest one.
I just downgraded to 1.54.401.10 (or something similar) and then did official OTA. Now I don't have problems with signal, wifi or long boot times.

[Q] Did some searches, spent more than four hours looking..

Hello,
My adb devices is not showing my device.
I'm pretty sure I forgot to activate developer mode and turn on USB debugging. I can not flash any room and I'm stuck in a boot loop or just using TWRP. I'm completely lost in a way to get beyond this. I've been searching XDA for 4.5 hours straight and it seems some people have 80% of my problem but not 100%. I decided initially to follow a Youtube video that didn't mention anything about USB debugging so I'm wondering if that's the main issue in all of this. I've tried going back to stock RUU, through Hasoon2000's allinone but I keep getting failures. Just at a loss and would appreciate any help. I'm trying to go to the Skydragon Rom, but I'm willing to go back to stock to work my way back up. I've initially rooted this type of phone before, but I didn't follow the same method as last time(which was Hasoon's) as I thought it would work the same, I used this Youtube video, youtube/watch?v=_yo4eoCfxmE. (sorry link is weird cause I can't post links yet, add a .com after youtube!) I do not have S-Off. I just wanna know what I can do to get back to Skydragon or at least back to stock before my girlfriend beats my ass for messing up her phone

haha... Love :victory:
Now back to issue.
If you're in the bootloader you don't need USB Debugging enabled, you can still use the fastboot command regardless of USB debugging mode. Check
Code:
fastboot devices
not
Code:
adb devices
.
Make sure all the drivers are still fine on the PC, reinstall if you must.
On a side note, try not to use all-in-one toolkits as you really don't get to learn from using something like that. If you did it manually you'd already have a pretty good understanding on which command gets used in which instance i.e bootloader vs in-system.
I actually didn't use a all-in-one this time around but as soon as I unlocked boot loader and rooted I had issues installing the custom rom. I've used both phil z and twrp but it still gets stuck when I install the sky dragon, or viper for that matter to test and make sure it wasn't just a bad download. Earlier when I did fast boot devices it did show something but now it's just a blank space. I'm in bed now I would double check again to make sure but like I said it's been a few hours and now it's 4:38 am and I'm tired. I'll double check in the morning but I appreciate your response and I'll double check. Drivers should be good from last time but I will double check and make sure. Again thanks for responding!
Alright, now after some rest I've checked the fastboot devices and it does show up.
Tried flashing to latest SkyDragon again and it just sits on the HTC screen before boot looping.
The device is S-On, unlocked and says tampered. I've tried flashing the boot.img in bootloader after flashing the rom but still no dice.

Latest skydragon, ARHD, InsertCoin and many more are meant for hboot 3.18 and above. If you boot to bootloader and see your hboot is 3.16, these ROMs won't work properly for you.
So check your hboot no.
Next ... check your CID and MID
If possible the OS version no. on bootloader too
You may need to revert to your stock ROM ... then check any OTA for your device

Gonna try flashing stock recovery again.

And there are RUU for both 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 (hboot 3.16 and 3.18) ... it's best for you to head over AT&T forum for better guidance.

And there are RUU for both 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 (hboot 3.16 and 3.18) ... it's best for you to head over AT&T forum for better guidance.

Alright, thank you for your help. I relocked and I tried the second link you posted, but the ruu messes up after I accept the EULA and just keeps popping up boxes. Downloading the RUU from the first link now and gonna try that. I just run the RUU in fastboot usb right?
Again thanks, I had no idea to check for hboot versions when rooting/flashing in the time I've rooted some devices so guess I'm learning something the hard way.
Edit: Same thing with the first link. I feel like I'm in the wrong place trying to run the RUU in fastboot usb?
Alright, tried running the RUU's again on the black screen with the silver HTC letters as suggested by someone else and the program still acts up after the EULA.
Alright, I was able to find a nandroid backup and restore it through there, so now I'm back in business. Thanks for the help!

Returning to stock issues.

I'm currently running Android Revolution HD on my new M9, unlocked, s-off also.
Found out that I have the battery is faulty, so I need to return it to stock, and get it back the shop for a replacement.
However, I stupidly didn't make a back up of my stock rom.
The CID of my phone is O2___01
I've downloaded the stock rom from this site, and flashed it using the RUU command. However when it flashes, then tells me to reboot, it still has Android Revolution HD on it.
I've spent a few hours browsing the forum, and still I've come to no avail.
Any help would be well appreciated!

You don't provide much information so it's hard to help. So let's start at the bginning: What firmare version are you using? (It's stated in Download Mode in the line with "OS" at the beginning.)
You tried to flash a RUU? Which one? Have there been any error outputs? If yes, which ones? Since you're S-OFF flashing a RUU should not be a problem at all so these outputs are very important if you want any help.
I tried to flash 1.40.206.8 -> 2.10.206.2 from this page
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/stock-nand-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698
Also I followed this,
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/firmware-t3068243
downloaded the correct RUU zip, tried to flash, got the error code telling me I need to immediately flash again which I did. Rebooted, and it just set up Android Revolution HD again.-
My firmware currently is 2.10.206.2
Im sure it's something stupid I missing out?

As far as I know Sneakyghost doesn't provide any RUUs. Those are only firmware packages that do not contain a rom. So it's no miracle that you're still booting ARHD.
You can download O2 RUUs from here, here or here. Any of the X.XX.206.X files will work since you are S-OFF. Do you have a SD card that is not bigger than 32gb? If yes, format it to fat32, copy one O2 RUU to its root directory and rename that file to "0PJAIMG.zip". If you then boot to Download Mode you will be asked to push the Volume Up button and the RUU will start flashing. If it reboots to system instead of rebooting to Download Mode you will have to power off your phone and boot to Download Mode manually. The RUU will continue then. At the end you will be asked to push the power button so that your phone gets shut down. If you now start your phone you will be back on a stock system.
Be aware that there is no RUU for your current firmware. Since you're S-OFF that doesn't matter but your phone will be downgraded at the end.
Ahh no wonder! haha
Going to try this shortly, so will let you know how I get on!
After its flashed, I'll be good to lock again and go s-on? Then return to the shop?

Relock only after you successfully tested that your device is booting normaly. After that you theoretically could re-S-ON. (But I would never do that because there is always a risk of hardbricking your phone if you re-S-ON and there is anything still modified that you didn't notice. For safety reasons S-OFF should always be considered as a oneway.)
Edit: I'm not completely sure but I actually doubt that they will check whether your phone was S-OFFed or not. If I think about the people who are working at the O2 or vodafone shops in my city I would say they do not even know what a bootloader is...
Agreed, use the s-off command to change back to "LOCKED" and leave it s-off. Too much of a risk otherwise.
If in the unlikely event they see it, you can play dumb, because a few rare people have gotten s-off phones from the factory and it doesn't prove you did anything.

Relocked, OS won't boot

Hey so here's my situation:
Installed the CM Nightly on my AT&T One M9, didn't like it, so I tried to revert to stock. I didn't want to pay $25 to S-OFF so I just tried installing various RUUs, but none would work. I read somewhere that I needed to relock my bootloader in order for the RUUs to work, so I did that, and now my phone just boots to Recovery Mode. I've tried installing AT&T RUU 2.6.502.16 (which didn't work because my phone is on a more recent firmware) and reinstalling 2.11.502.18/flashing its 0PJAIMG.zip (which didn't work because it's apparently broken). I've even tried installing T-Mobile's 2.11.531.19 RUU, which of course didn't work because my CID doesn't match and I can't change it because I'm S-ON.
I realize I went about this very badly almost from the start--no stock backup in TWRP, etc. This is my first Android phone so I've been learning this as I go and I was a bit sloppy.
I'm pretty sure I'm screwed, at least until a new update comes out or the current AT&T RUU is fixed, but I'm wondering if there's something else I can try. Any ideas? Thanks.

I downloaded and flashed the 2.11.502.18 ruu from the HTC website with no problem. Ate you getting an error?
Edit: in my experience, if an ruu.exe starts to run and then never does (like you get the spinning wheel for a minute and then nothing) it's either a bad download or antivirus is blocking the file. But just to repeat...the exe on the HTC website works fine. I used it about three weeks ago.
Hm. Out of the myriad RUU.exes I've tried the most recent AT&T one was the only one I couldn't get to start, and when I tried installing it via .zip it would just restart the phone and nothing else. That in combination with other posts I've seen on this forum saying it's borked (although I might have misread the numbers/misinterpreted the jargon) just lead me to think it was broken. I'll redownload and try again. Thanks!
Edit: Well, it worked! I don't know what I was doing wrong. Thanks a lot!
