can this directory be deleted to save space or will this wipe the actual photos from the gallery?
thanks

It can be deleted (the contents of this folder, not the folder itself) but thumbnails would be re-created. It might still be good to delete it from time to time since it might contain "orphaned" thumbs....

Is it possible to keep certain picture files from showing up in my gallery?
My problem is my gallery is flooded with pics from all my UCCW files , very cluttered it is !
Thanks for the help .
Yeah just name them something else the gallery won't be able to show like .txt. or you could mount USB to PC and select and delete any pics you don't want there.

If you create a file named .nomedia and place it in a folder, any pictures in that folder will not be shown in the gallery. There are probably a few .nomedia files in folders on your phone already that you could copy/paste as well.
Either that or use QuickPic

i did this several times.. didn't work either..
Where did you copy this instagramm folder? Try renaming it or moving it to another path on the memory. Also check out if there is a .nomedia file somewhere in the folder or in the folders above (depending on what file browser you use, you maybe have to turn on "Show hidden files"). If you find a .nomedia file, just delete it so that the media scanner is allowed to search for pictures in this folder and all the subfolders..
Setting > App > All > Media Storage
Clear data and cache.
Media rescan.
Settle.

Τhank you so much!! that was the answer!! I found a.nomedia file in the folder of pictures, so i suppose that was the reason why it didn'd show me the files edited after the update.. Thanks again..
You're welcome
My internal memory's 50% storage is occupied by .thumbnail folder..I am running short of memory so I need to delete this folder.so is it safe to delete this folder? If I'm not wrong then this folder ONLY contains gallery pictures thumbnails.
〽 ???✌ ?? ????Ⓜ?
It's safe to delete them but they'll only come back next time you open gallery.
Inside the thumbnail folder there maybe a few hidden files (ie file name start with .something) some of these may well be a few gb big in your case. You can just delete them instead of each thumbnail file of about 100kb each.
Before deleteing them, make a note of what they are called and after deleteing them make a folder of the same name to avoid them getting created automatically by gallery.

He means dont delete the .thumbnail folder as it will be recreated. Go into it and delete the huge files over 100kb to make some space.
Those big files in the thumbnail folder. Called something like ".thumbdata3--1967290299" the clue being the data part. They can get very large.
Just copy the name of these files. For example by doing a rename then copy and the whole file name. Delete the file then make a new folder and paste the filename as the folder name.
When later gallery try to automatically generate these thumb data file, it'll find that it cant as there is already a folder of the same name and skip it.

There are a lot of images in folder com.sgiggle.production which belong to Tango application. These small images are always show in my stock gallery. I do not want to see these small images in my gallery then I deleted folder com.sgiggle.production and all images were disappeared from gallery. But after reboot, these images were showed again.
I am on Ommi 4.4 with stock kernel.

put a .nomedia file in the same folder and clear your gallery data. This will prevent the system from scanning that folder for images.
.nomedia file solved my issue. Thank you very much.
The .thumbnails subfolder on the DCIM folder takes more than 16gb on my 5t.
At the bottom of the small images list, there are 2 files named thumbdata4-nnnnnn, where "n" is a digit. Each one of them takes more than 16gb...
What can I do? Is it possible to delete these files.
What can be affected?
Yes, you can delete it.
it's a thumbnail for all your image (including your deleted image)
so, if you delete it. it'll create again with current image in your phone.
I have deleted it. That had no effect on the SD free space (??)
