Physical home /back buttons - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

I have been looking for a dual SIM mobile phone and decided to have a look at P6 . Ive not yet had chance to have a play with it , but when I watch a review on youtube I noticed that it appears that the P6 does not have physical home / back buttons*but they are instead shown on the screen , which to my mind uses up some of the screen area . *I was wondering if its possible to some how to not show that area when not required
I really like the thought of physical home /back buttons that light up on a phone .*

There are several possibilities to hide the navigation bar if you don't need it.
i.e. here

Yes you can hide it and also use floating navigation button instead. But anyway you should wait and buy the P7 which is getting released tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice guy's :good:
I can't see any mention that the P7 will have a Dual SIM Option ?
any links please

If you want use P6 dual SIM outside China, you can't use second SIM slot which is locked for China CDMA provider.
In fact P6 - C00 is CDMA phone and in Europe for example it will work only on GSM network.

P7 could probably have dual sim without being locked for China. See the table here: http://www.huaweiblog.de/handys/huawei-ascend-p7-uebersicht-der-versionen/

That is not true, and I will explane why!
Thaimobile center have made some mistakes.
1. Dual SIM version don't have SD card slot, it has second SIM slot insted SD slot.
2. Dual SIM version has a 16 GB of internal memory insted of 8 GB on the one SIM version.
HUAWEI Ascend P6 has only three models and they are:
1. P6-U06 Unicom version - GSM / WCDMA networks, one SIM and slot for SD card, metal case;
2. P6-T00 Mobile version - GSM / TD-SCDMA networks, one SIM adn slot for SD, metal case;
3. P6-C00 Telecom version - GSM / CDMA networks, dual SIM, without SD slot, plastic case with metal frame;

Thanks for the information :good:
Just looking at some more Thai web sites it does seem that they are using the same misleading specifications , here's an example
http://www.shopat7.com/mobile/huawei/ascend-p6-white.html
I would be upset if I purchased a P6 after looking at the specification on that web site only to find its not true

Dont take risk and buy from not so well known dealers. There are also fake p6 with mediatek chips being sold.

From what i know, dual-sim will only work in China, since at least one sim will work only in TD-SCDMA (not GSM/WCDMA available worldwide)

P6 S - U06 known issues

Hi, I am an owner of this very nice smartphone, I'm very happy with it but there are a couple of problems that I'm not able to fix:
- it is sold as a 4G (LTE) phone for the sim card on the main slot and 3G on the second slot, it works only on 3G network for the main slot and 2G for the secon one
- an annoying metallic voice or strange noise when I receive or make a call from/to some numbers with a specific sim card (it's random but always the same numbers, I mean... not all numbers of a specific carrier but only some numbers of that carrier and never, till now, with other carriers).
It occours when that sim card is in the second slot (2G) or in the main slot and I force the 2G network on the main slot.
Did you experience the same problem?

Which ever version of the phone that you get is not able to do 4G or LTE so thats a scam of the carrier and for the noise im not sure what can it be.

You are probably right and it isn't an LTE device... but for sure the specs on gsmarena are wrong when they say it is a dual sim dual standby.
It is dual active, I can receive calls on the second sim while I'm engaged on the first, hold this and answer on the second and vice versa.
On huawei.ru they say it is 3G, no P6S found on huawei.com.cn
Yes, you are right about dual sim specs. It is definitely dual active.
On GSM Arena are practically all phones dual sim standby. But this is wrong. However, we must admit the fact, that dual sim active phones are very rare.

Dual SIM tray

Hey I see that you can use a dual SIM card tray... Where do you get them from ?
Thank you
Edit I have 5g version if that matters
Update - I have UK on ee 5g pro but SIM tray will only take one SIM it's not double sided.
i bought one from ebay
just search for oneplus 7 pro sim tray
I don't think the 5g model will take 2 sims. (Noticed your 2nd post so you presumably already know this )
I don't know if the 5g is dual SIM how can I find out? It has no settings in UI for a 2nd SIM
Anyone know if the 5g version is dual SIM... Two different people say two different things.
Regards
has anyone checked this out for the 5G version yet? might just order one and try it.
The 5G model can do dual-SIM, but you will lose 5G. You literally would have to flash it do a different firmware to achieve this or hope for someone to create a ROM with the 5G firmware that enables dual-SIM. The hardware is capable of dual-SIM, it's just disabled in the 5G firmware.
eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-OEM-Du...var=522291973382&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Due to arrive in 7 to 10 days.
Update: it works perfectly!
How did you get.it to work

A705FN to A705FN/DS ???

Hello, i have the sam A705FN (non dual sim varient, however other network providers here do have the DS varient)
When i took this phone i assumed i would get th Dual sim varient.
I see on my sim tray i have shouldhve had space for 3 cards (one last slot is blanked out)
Now my question is, if i get a ds varient sim tray will i be able to ise dual sim, even if i need to somehow flash the ds firmware.
And does the fn varient even have the hardware to support dual sim

I don't think you can use dual sim even if you used the tray form a dual sim model. If the phone only shows 1 IMEI number the device probably only has 1 sim card slot.

true but you can trick the phone by adding a 2st imei from another phone , also the firmware check of your hardware is compatible , so if it detect a dual sim it could theorically work and the settings would appear again or not be greyed out anymore

Yeah you can't be sure. My guess would be that it does not have a second sim card reader because it doesn't make sense for a company to make hardware and disable it through software (Even though it could and has happened). Cant be sure until somebody does a teardown comparison.

Hey, sorry for only getting back to you now, life has been busy..
but here's what's happened since i last posted.
I have an a70 from MTN-SA (mobile telecommunications network south Africa)
it is a single sim tray.
i used a sim tray from the Samsung galaxy a50 Dual sim variant, with no second sim detected unfortunately.
i wonder if the device has the hardware to support a second sim. If so, i do have an extra IMEI number to use that i got off a cheapo dual sim china phone.

i wondered the same thing.. But there is a dual sim variant of this device out in the wild.
My country doesn't allow dual sim (only with 2 specific carriers [cell-c & Telkom Mobile (8ta)])
so it's weird that they would make two separate hardware revisions for the same market?

eSIM on S20+

Hi All,
I just took delivery of the S20+
Mine came with 1 esim, 1 dedicated simcard slot (SIM1)and 1 simcard/sdcard (SIM2) hybrid tray.
went ahead to sign up for esim for the network i use most often.
Now, i have a question. What happens if i factory reset the phone. will the esim "profiles" remain or do i need to drop by the network provider and request another esim activation code?
This is because i have the habit of performing a factory reset on my android phones after a major firmware update, or every 6 months (or if i feel the phone feel sluggish).
Any idea guys? i cant seem to find information on this anywhere. is the esim data stored on the phone data or in the esim itself.
aah.. found it.. if you go to the setting to factory data reset, at the bottom there is a checkbox to select if you want to retain the esim. tick if you do not want to.. and it is unticked by default (keep your esim data)

My unlocked S20+ didn't come with a sim card. I used the Verizon sim card from my S9+ in it. Works perfectly. If you go to Verizon and ask for a sim card for your new phone, they charge you like $40 for activation. I paid nothing.

U can check it out on your phone settings.
Go to settings - connections - SIM card manager.
If your device has esim, you will see SIM cards section and a Esim section.

That's pretty neat having both hybrid and esim.
Essentially you could have 1 esim and sim card plus sd card.

vodafone UK doesnt support esim on their phones yet (and they didnt sound keen on changing that soon) which is crazy but i think they are afraid people will start using dual networks and they're not happy about that
Glad I bought S20 plus rather then waiting for the ultra version.
More sleek and practical.
Vodafone phones come with esim option also for those who might be wondering.

Nope. Only 2. But u can have both sims and registered esim profile in the phone but at any time only 2 can be active.
To be precise only esim and sim1 or sim1 and sim2. Sim2 can't be used together with esim.

Will be useful to know which variant of s20+ you have there. Samsung released many variants.
Single sim
Dual sim
Dual sim with esim
This 3 in 4g and 5g.
Mine is 4g dual sim with esim.
Sm-g985f/ds
Sim2 slot shares same imei with esim.
So I'm using sim1, microsd card and an esim.
Imei won't show up on settings unless it's active. As in having a sim card in slot 2 or esim profile on.
If u don't have esim set up you'll only see the add mobile plan option if your phone supports esim.
