How do you get this thing out of Factory Mode, don't know what I did to get it there .
I've searched here and other forums, found instructions for other Samsung devices but, nothing worked for this device.
Tried editing with terminal emulator using Echo and Chown commands. Tried accessing through efs. Nothing.
Any help would be apreciated.

Fix the EFS partition then:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My_g28MrlwU
Or try clearing all caches and reinstalling a custom rom.
If that wont work, tell us why/what didnt work.
Did a full wipe including extsd and internal storage. Odin installed Bennys stock rooted rom and Twrp. Showed factory mode on first boot, did it all again, no love. Installed paid version of root explorer, it shows EFS as empty folder. Tried mounting EFS in Twrp, will not allow me to check the box.
Tab works in factory mode, it's mostly just annoying.

Does Wi-Fi, Mobile Data connection still work, I thought if EFS gets messed up you lose some functions?
I messed mine up but luckily had a working backup.

I have the stock ROM, hardly modified except root and busybox. My updates download but do not install, saying the device has been modified. That's all fine and dandy, but WHERE does it download the update.zip so I can apply it using Mobile Odin? I hate downloading whole firmwares due to a shaky internet connection. Or a way to disable the message about modification?
If you downloaded with a browser look for a folder named download either in internal or on sd.

You can't locate it in routine folder, as it saves in fota folder, and once it failed it may not be available longer there.
Even supposed it will be there (you need to reroot to find it) and find it, it surely won't work with Mobile odin, so don't waste your time.
This can happens when your device is priory rooted, even it can't be solve with unroot
You have to factory reset, even after factory reset it's not guaranteed.
Try this
-clear data from setting - application manager - all - software update (you will find two), after clearing data reboot and check for update
If still not work
-factory reset and check
If still not works
-flash any older rom you have already downloaded with pc odin, then it should work

if you have rooted in past and later unrooted.
Hello
I rooted my Optimus G F180L and uninstalled some of the preinstalled apps.
Today I got a Software Update for my phone which I downloaded and was about 50 Mb.
When I tried to install it gave me an error that a rooted device couldn't be OTA updated.
Then I removed root from the SuperSu app but it gives me the same error as if it was still rooted.
I'm guessing it is because of uninstalling those apps.
If that's correct now I'd need to return it back to stock which i don't dare to do without being 100% sure I wont mess it up.
Would a factory reset do the work (how to do it?) or do I need to flash the whole stock ROM?
Any help highly appreciated!!
try to factory reset your phone, if that don't work maybe reflash or check with your phone carrier before doing anything else, maybe they haven't received the update yet.
Because when i run stock rom, i could receive OTA updates even while it was rooted
Would the factory reset bring back even the apps I deleted?

yes, a factory reset brings the phone back to stock, which is how it came out from the LG factory, but only if you run the original LG rom ofc which you do.

you can use a program like Titanium Backup (it requires root), if you wanna save data of the apps you got installed, if you wanna save contacts you can export them to an xml to storage and copy out, and sms' i personally use "SMS Backup & Restore" from Ritesh Sahu does the job good, as long as you don't got any drafting messages.

I downloaded the file "V20t-DEC-20-2013" which was 50,76 MB successfully using mobile 3g network, but after the phone restarts and begins the updating process it gets stuck at 3% ang gives me an error. Then it reboots and gives a message of the device being suspected of root.

hmm, that i never have seen before, but if you want you can download the newest original firmware here: http://lge-phones.org/check-latest-lg-official-firmware
used the site a couple of times myself for my E975 and then flash the whole rom.
because i never had a problem, but maybe it's just different in some countries.
but if you decide to use LG's flashing tool remember to backup your data on your computer, or else they will be lost because LG's tool formats the phone totally.

you have to relock ur bootloader to install ur update...best way is to flash the kdz, do hard reset, install update...everythin will go fine..

hi,
maybe using aromafm in recovery mode
could help you get around it and fix things,
also sometime a dalvik/cache wipe will trigger cwm
to notify you that you've lost root and ask you if you
wish to fix it.
twrp does it to but, aromafm doesn't work in twrp.
lastlynsearch supersu update .zip and follow
bye
no root
I think that you're not root. Use root check o titanium to verify.
root checker said I'm root and I've been using other forms of root required apps... I just can't write to system... cwm "fixed" root but even after that I couldn't write to system. I even tried re-flashing the universal root but still nothing

go online search aromafm, get, boot to cwm then flash aromafm, give it a second to get going

now cd directory and chmod file wherever and whatever those may be.

if supersu is installed and groovy start it
in automatic responses set to grant/allow
search for total commander get it from home page or play
a side note ; when youre in terminal youre pretty much in linux
meaning case matters spaces matter foward and backward slash matter, underscore dash, syntax etc
I already use total commander I have had the su app and it works with most everything except writing to system. total comander cant save to system it asks to remount as rw it asks for root and is granted it but then it displays a toast message saying "remount error"

okay if you flashed root/supersu with twrp it might have gone wrong
take a moment to get philz touch cwm flashable zip and twrp recovery's flashable zip [not the odin ones]
i keep both on my tab for specific flashes calling for twrp or cm
now, if you haven't beefed up your rom with apps and stuff yet
reboot into recovery flash/install cwm then reboot recovery, do a factory reset, then reflash supersu
make a back either way
if you want twrp back then cool but let's stick with cwm for now

did you do any .prop mods eith in default.prop or build.prop ?
did you download aromafm yet if not get it from dev-host [use cwm to flash it]
in /system/bin/.ext should be a file named .su it's permissions should also be 6754
also did you get busybox setup and allow root functions everywhere in total commander
i do know that system rw doesn't stick between sessions and it not irregular for tc to need another rw button click

does supersu crash on open?

get cwm recovery up, flash aroma and let me know

scroll to philz setting and select re-root supersu
I recently got in the buisness of messing with my android phone's rom. Long stories short, during my attempt at flashing Cyanogen mod(which didn't work) some of my drivers got uninstalled. I can tell because of a few symptoms.
First, my phone will not see my sim card. It isn't the sim card(Ive checked) and I've narrowed it down to my efs folder is blank. I think this is because of a missing driver. I have no imei number or anything like that
Also, media just doesn't play. I can not hear anything as well as the media just flat out doesn't play. Youtube and any other app/browser just cannot get it to play anything.
These are the noticable things. I think its because of the drivers. Ive tried flashing new roms including stock. Problem is that im limited to 4.3 roms and above because I have samsung's new 4.4 locked bootloader. Any ideas?
PS I have the Samsung Galaxy s3 from AT&T. model number is SGH-I747
PSS This is my second post so sorry if it is in the wrong catagory or if anything is wrong. Im a newbie to this forum

No I have not created any sort of backup of the necesary files. Yes, I know that I should have, but I had no idea about these folders before I started to play with my rom. Definitely a lesson learned.
If you read further into it, it tells you how to get your imei back even without a backup

I tried to download the documents, but it wouldn't work. It gave me an overtraffic error from Dropbox. Although this might fix one issue, I do not think that I have a lost imei, since other things are not working as well. I still believe that my phone is missing drivers.
I don't believe it is a driver issue. The first thing you need to do is install terminal emulator from the play store and enter the following:
getprop ro.bootloader
If, and ONLY IF it says you are on NE4, try flashing the NE4 modem. You can get it from my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53627484
If you are on any other firmware build, find and flash the modem thst matches that build. (If the getprop command says you have MJB firmware, flash the MJB modem)
If you still have problems, flash the same firmware as you currently have via odin and factory reset. Backup first though!! This will wipe all your data including the internal sd.
(DO NOT FLASH OLDER FIRMWARE!!!! Only the same or newer as what you currently have!)
Explanation: if you have an incompatible modem installed, it will usually show unknown for your baseband and imei. This can also cause the EFS folder to appear blank. The reason your media won't play is because drm content relies on the contents of the EFS, so if its blank/cant be read, most media will not play.
Also if the wrong modem is installed, it will not be able to read your SIM card.
If after flashing the modem, and the full firmware you still have these problems, and your IMEI is not properly showing, PM me and I can help you further.
I followed what the other post said. I installed the modem and everything worked. However, then my wifi didn't work. I then installed this http://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=f...bd88b6557ee11c9f89f1cb9a8013a0e6a640e15f746e7 using TWRP (CWM works as well, tho haven't tried it). After that, I wiped all cache (Dalvik and normal) and did a factory reset. It worked like a charm. I am so happy, now I can go back to the phone I love!!! Any more questions, just post it or pm me. Thanks for all who help

if the file is on your internal sd you don't need wifi to flash with twrp. I would recommend making a backup of(nandroid) in case you have problems that require a pc! then your really stuck!
I did backup using twrp, is that considered a nandroid backup? I saved that backup file to Dropbox, had the correct cm11, gapps & SuperSU 2.2 zip files, then I done the dumbest thing & wiped all data including internal storage I guess cause my main device is a RAZR M which has separate sd card storage, so can I use adb sideload when I get back to my PC to install that backup I made?
Thanks for ur help in advance
Sent from my XT907 using XDA Free mobile app
Since you're stuck in a hospital for a few days, why don't you use the time to read up and learn? Just sayin'.
Yes, a nandroid is a backup made with TWRP or CWM. You don't sideload a nandroid, you restore it in recovery.
So you had CM11, Gapps, and SuperSU on your SD but then deleted everything? Or do you still have them available to be flashed in recovery? If you don't have anything on your SD, boot into recovery and push either the nandroid or CM11/Gapps/SuperSU to the SD. If you don't know how to do that, you use adb push. If you don't understand that, Google it.
Yeah thanks man, I actually deleted all the cache & internal storage thanks to twrp u can do it in 1 go & I wasn't thinking cause I'm used to having an external SD that I would have files like cm11 & gapps so without thinking I hit clear on everything wiping out my all files but I gather from ur statement I can install the backup I saved to my Dropbox
Thanks to anyone who gave me advice though

I suppose when I get back to my PC I can just flash Cyanogenmod & be done with it
But I'll definitely keep that backup I made of stock KitKat though
Sent from my XT907 using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah, download the backup/nandroid from Dropbox, put your phone into recovery and make sure adb recognizes it, then type 'adb push [insert file name here] /sdcard'. That command will only work if you place the backup into the same directory as adb.
Just wanted to say thanks to anyone who gave me advice & report that I was finally able to restore my nexus 7 using the nexus root toolkit
