As the title suggests, I am not having much luck with the wireless.
I turn it on, but it does not see any wireless INTERNET in the area at all. This was working fine a few days ago, but have only noticed it now.
Have tried a factory reset and cleared the SD card to no avail.
Cheers for any help

reset the password on the wireless (can be the same password as ur old one) but it will cause ur network to go down for a bit, and come back up and when its coming back up, ur phone will report it as avalible, and u can access it again, i have noticed this my self. and found it extremely annoying, it seem to be appearing when turning off the wifi on the phone and then turning it on again, after that the phone wont be able to reconnect to any rememebered device(even if u choose to forget it)
Can u please try this, and report back here if its working or not.
incase it is, it might be a issue with the 2.1 for the desire, and should be reported back to android devs.
Thanks for the reply, but Im afraid no cigar.
Reset the router, changed the password and the desire is still not picking up any wireless networks around me even though my Nexus one is.
Pain in the grass as I was to sell my HTC desire today, but if the wireless isnt working thats a deal breaker.
download the free app wifi analyzer and have a look if that one can spot any wifi broadcasts in your area,
Downloaded and it cant seem to find anything at all?
Does this mean somehow my wifi has broken?
Funny thing this because my desire has just done this today.
I went in to my router and disabled the security. I deleted the key on the phone and the phone found the network and connected OK. Went back into the router and re enabled security and rebooted the router. The phone then found the network and asked for the key. Entered the key and all good connecting now.
I've been having the same problem for quite some time now..., send it back to repair came back after a month...,, did it the first time i used my phone. disconected it for battery saving.... and when i turned it back on again it didnt found any wireless connection...
I'm lost... dont really know what to do next....,,, I'll try this method when i get home today....,, hope it works... but does that mean u have to do this everytime you want to use your wifi?:S:S

Are you using stock android or a custom ROM. I seem to remember some custom ROMS having issues with wireless networks on certain channels.
Try changing the channel of your wireless router.

My WiFi eventually stops working. It's been working fine for two months but for these last two weeks, it would not connect to any wifi network, regardless if it were home, someone else's home, or even the wifi at my school.
If it helps any, I'm running juggernaut 4.1 with bullet kernel.
I've looked around to the related threads but there was never a solid fix. Anyone have any insight on my problem?
bump? Any help?
Well if a clean instal doesnt fix it your phone probably needs replacing

It works like 75% of the time. It works when I reset it sometimes. It's not a "never works" type of thing. Do I still really need to replace my phone?
I have a smiliar problem, Once I disconnect from Wi-Fi and then try to connect to any network, it would say it's connected with full signal strength yet there would be no connection...
Not exactly sure if that's the problem you're having, but so far the fix I've found for my problem is to boot into recovery, wipe battery stats and fix permissions and then it's good to go. Only problem is it sucks having to reboot your phone everytime you have to connect to a new Wi-Fi network...
I had the same problem as you. The wifi icon had all the signal but still did work just on my phone... I tested it on my PC and it was all fine. I decided to go back to stock then reroot again. It fix it a little bit bit still happens sometimes
I suggested unroot it via Odin then test the issue for a few days on stock. Just to see what the problem is. Then root if wish

Weird... I seem to have this problem too!
Sometimes my WiFi says connected Excellent connection, but it does not work. I know my internet works because my PC works fine.
I just disconnect WiFi and use 4G, yeah it's a lot slower, but it is manageable.
WiFi seems to randomly want to work.

Yeah it sucks... It was working normally before but not its mess up
I still haven't found a solution to this problem. My only solution has been to disable wifi, turn on data, turn off data, turn wifi back on, and it will work.
With this information, does anyone know what's wrong? I have restored back to my freshly rooted nandroid and wiped and reflashed to three different roms, all with the same wifi issue.
Is there anyone with a solution?
Try this:
turn off wifi, then...
in adb shell:
su
rm /data/misc/dhcp/dhcpcd-eth0.lease
rm /data/misc/dhcp/dhcpcd-eth0.pid
or:
if you dont want to use shell, get Root Explorer (or equivalent) and navigate to /data/misc/dhcp/ and delete those files.
then:
restart wifi. You may need to reboot.

I can't find those files. They don't seem to exist in my phone.
So far the only way I have been forced to turn on airplane mode and switch it off to use my wifi. I have to do this every half an hour or so. Does anyone have a more permanent solution?
same issue here. on wifi or on data, it will just drop, even though i have full wifi bars. I get between 75-100% packet loss. Sometimes jumping to airplane mode and back fixes it. Sometimes jumping to data and back to wifi, rebooting fixes it.....it seems.....for a while. Tried multiple roms/kernels. Same issue. during all this, my phone will try to sync data (2 gmail accounts) and just chug and chug, heat up my phone, and drain my battery. Any ideas?
I deleted those files, rebooted, lets see what happens.
T-mobile my account..... Do u have it installed? If so freeze it or uninstall it and problem will go away. I had same problem made a thread and posted my findings and turned out lots of people had similar issue of wifi sometimes working or both data and wifi signal showing when only wifi supposed to be on, wifi losing connection after a little bit. etc. In the end tmobile my account was the culprit
nope. No tmo my account, no green (or whatever) battery saver.
Deleted those files, and still had issues yesterday and today.
I had this problem. turns out my sgsii wasn't playing nice with my wrt 400n, gradually lost connection more frequently. flipped back to the trusty linksys g router, never had a problem since. I think it has something to do with n.
Turns out that it happens with all routers - for me anyway. It just loses internet every 20 minutes or so even while I'm still connected to the router.
Greetings! so, I installed Jelly Bean, super slick. I love it. HOWEVER: It seems to have some issues with Wi-Fi and it is not the usual issue of not connecting. I have tried re-installing, and (Just to double check that I had completely wiped the phone before installing). Nothing.
The issue is that, when I connect, it seems to wipe out the internet for my entire house after a second or two. It does not turn the internet OFF, it just makes it impossible for me to load any web pages. Any help?
I have set my wi-fi on the phone to a Static IP, and then set the IP to 182.168.2.1 (I tried a couple of others but none seemed to work

Sounds as if your phone is sending a packet storm.
Can you enable logging on your route (mileage may vary), and see what may be causing it? Maybe it's trying to go to a particular source?
Okay, I figured it out. I had to open up my router settings on my computer., and navigate to where I can see the connected devices. I look for my phone and beside it is an IP. I just set the Static IP to that and BAM. works like a charm!
But you have this issue also when ur screen was on???
For me wifi works. But when the screen is off my wifi turns off. Once I turn the screen on bam it's back. Although I have wifi turned on always in advanced settings.

I have the same thing going on.. Has anyone figured out a fix yet?
T mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 2 sgh-t889
I rooted and installed a jedi rom about a year ago. In December my cell signal started getting spotty. I reverted to stock 4.1.2. Thankfully I was able to use my phone on wifi calling and that worked for a while. I replaced my antenna cable because it had a kink. The cable I got came with a new charging port which oddly went bad shortly after changing the cable, so I replaced that too.
Later the phone started having other issues, trouble playing back audio, it started skipping like a cd player. Then wifi would work but if I left the wifi network it would freeze the wifi signal requiring reboot to disconnect from the old network, cycling wifi alone wouldn't work, didn't ever turn off. Somewhere near this time wifi calling wouldn't even produce enough strength to make a phone call. Would sound like bad signal.
Then yesterday wifi wouldn't turn on after a reboot. Looking it up I found a suggestion to take out battery, sim card and sd card then hold the power button for 30 seconds. This worked and the post said something about it being caused from undervolting. I decided to start hacking at the phone more figuring how much worse can it get?
I started with a benchmark test, and when I compared my results to noye 2 listed on antutu the only major difference was ram, which I scored 660 about half what it should be.
Everything else was within a few hundred.
I updated to 4.3 stock with firmware from samfirmware (something like that) and had my first phone call in months!
But then it lost signal again. Then wifi again.
Deciding to keep going I tried rerooting, failed, finally got philz bootloader and new jedi master x 4.3. Installed that and had selinux issue finally solved that now wifi juat stopped being able to turn on. Tried power button trick, didnt work. Wifi still wont turn on and mobile networks still dont work.
I wrote this offline then tried wifi again and it worked.
Anyone have any idea what's going on? Anything I could fry to fix this?
Ok so suggested posts when I posted is leading me to try things. I have an empty efs folder. I just wanted this posted due to signal issues atm.
I have an old old nandroid im going to try restoring atm
So my old nandroids didn't work, so I went to my backup after this happened. I still have an empty efs folder, and no backup. Wifi is more steady however. I've tried numerous things and cannot seem to recreate any of the files.
I found some random files in the efs folder when using root explorer, but no nv data.
Nothing is being generated on reboot or rom flash except the folder structure.
Under the status in my phone my IMEI number is intact.
I'm still under the impression it's missing files in my efs folder, but I've also come across some posts stating that some phones don't have an nv data bin file?
Can anyone point me in the right direction? It seems like every google search of a term ends in failure, and a new term to search.
Hey all. I need some advice. This morning my G3 (D850) dropped WiFi connection for no reason. It says the signal is good but the network info says saved, secured. It will attempt to connect over and over again and if it does connect the signal is weak as can be and it drops the connection within 2 seconds. My coworker has a G3 also and is connected to the same work network I am. His connection says excellent where as mine said good. His device connects just fine with full bars. I'm baffled. I've already tried manually selecting 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz instead of auto select and that didn't help at all. I've tried manually turning off WiFi and turning it back on. I've tried turning airplane mode on and then off to refresh the connection and that didn't help. I've done a battery pull as someone in one of the android authority forums suggested that (apparently I am not the only one having this issue.), didn't work. I've unchecked WiFi optimization - no dice. There was another post on a different forum here on XDA that said turning off WiFi and then deleting the WiFi config folder located in data/etc/wifi and then rebooting fixed the issue for them so I tried that. After reboot when I tried to turn on WiFi my G3 rebooted itself. Does it everytime. SO, I had to restore to a nandroid backup (btw I'm on rooted stock 10f) to get the phone to stop hating my WiFi toggle attempts. Last ditch effort I did a factory reset hoping for an easy fix... Nope. I don't know what else to try. It was fine yesterday all day. This morning it was perfectly fine and then randomly started having this issue. I haven't altered any system files whatsoever. I really don't want to send my device to LG for warranty replacement so I'm hoping someone can help me out that may have had this issue and resolved it. The only difference between my device and my coworkers device is he is still on 10d and I am on 10f. That could be the issue I guess but that doesn't really explain why my device has been perfectly fine until this morning and I've been on rooted 10f for weeks. I am planning on flashing back to straight bone factory stock 10d when I get home here in a few hours from work but Idk if that will help or not. Judging from the amount of google search results of "LG G3 WiFi connection problems" this seems to be an issue for several people. I won't know if it's on the software side or hardware side until I get home but in the meantime has anyone had these issues at all? People have had success in changing to Static IP but I would have to do that for every connection I attempt to connect to and that's a pain in the a$$. Also, that does nothing to identify the root cause of the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. =)

Thanks for the reply. So it turned out my phone just randomly decided it doesn't like my work network anymore. Idk why lol. I got home and it hooked right into WiFi. Gf's WiFi and open networks as well. I call shenanigans. I went ahead and flashed back to 10d anyway though.

I am having the same issue! But it is happening in other networks too...sometimes I get the phone to connect but it only works for a while and when I check the networks it only says Saved, even if I try to connect again
Having the same issue, whether at work or home, my wifi has become near useless. I've even gone as far as trying a different ROM. Didn't work.
Same thing here
I also have tried factory reset, installed a new ROM, changed settings in my router... but the problem remains I don't know what to do anymore, I use wifi a lot!! I searched through other topics but no one seem to know how to solve it. Unfortunately my warranty already expired, I took my phone to some technicians but honestly it didn't help at all...they all said it was a software bug and I should wait for an update but if it was just that a new ROM would fix it,right?
I am not very familiar with phone hardware but I assume that if it was a hardware problem I wouldn't be able to turn it on or connect to any network, right?? (any experts here???)
Any solution is welcomed.
anyone please?? :crying:
P.S : I tried a new baseband, new kernel and new ROMs. So far, nothing changed.
I can connect sometimes but get kicked out within minutes. At other times I only get the saved, secured message.
This is happening in every network
