Anyone was able to video chat with skype? It states the program supports GSII, but no option for video available.
THanks.
Mike
It works in mine, I'm using a hacked version tho, the name of the app is Skype_2.1.0.46_v11, look it up in the known places
I'm using the official Skype from the market. You have you to enable video chat under settings.
It works fairly well. I hope this helps.
yea but i hate this skype app really buggy they need to add epic touch support

It does list having Galaxy S II support...hmmm? What's buggy about it? Seems pretty solid to me.

It works on mine. Did you enable video calling in the skype settings?
It won't let me select the "enable video calling" option on skype. It is just greyed out. How did you guys select it?
EDIT: Had to restart the phone and the option came up. It works amazing man. People say the camera quality from my side looks awesome.
I go to download Skype from the market and it tells me my device isn't compatible, both on my phone and from my laptop.
I'm sitting 3 feet from a coworker that's Skype chatting with a friend on her E4GT. Did they change something?
I was able to enable it but can't do video.

I think the app is a little buggy right now so that might be the issue.
So after much waiting, Google has finally released youtube with Material Design. Below you will find screenshots and download link.

Yeah, what's with that? 720p on a 1440 screen. Does the Nexus 6 get 1440? How about the G3? Is Google hatin' on the N4?

I guess YouTube doesn't like the Note 4. A few threads on it in the general and Q&A section. Think like 10 steps to get it to work. LoL. Guess we need to ***** to them.

I figured out the force close. It was the old version of youtube xposed module.

Went through some debugging and to be more precise, the Xposed conflicting module is:
YourTube
YouTube AdAway seem work just fine and so does YouTubeAllowFullScreen HDMI.
Eventually the developer of Yourtube will update soon.
Most of Lollipops changes and design is a good refresh from what KitKat offered. Most of you may dislike it at first but personally, I'm finally glad to see changes from the old 4.0.

Or are you stock without root?
Thanks,

Stock, no root. I just flashed. Really hate the lack of info about these updates. You would think that they would want to provide specifics so users can report back on any bugs, etc.
Too early to tell whether it did anything to the cell standby issue. Could be placebo effect and/or wishful thinking, but I feel like auto brightness is less aggressive on the dimming than before....

Have you checked yet to see if you have an "advance messaging" in your messaging app under it's options?
Have a great day!
Under settings in messaging I don't see that option but there is a option for "share typing indications" & "send read receipt"
The messaging features are useless to me, as is the video calling. Why do we need carrier and device specific features that duplicate apps such as Hangouts and FB messenger, which are cross-platform and carrier agnostic? The short answer is we don't!! Waste of investment by TMO if you ask me.

I don't ever see Apple allowing TMO to bake in video calling into the native dialer, so I doubt it will ever truly be cross platform. It's just a completely unnecessary feature to implement on the carrier level. Same with advanced messaging. There are plenty of globally adopted messaging platforms that handle video and advanced messaging just fine. These features will never be widely utilized by the carrier's user base until they become network independent.
I like the advanced messaging so far since I have older family members that only use text messaging and don't use hangouts or other services. Now I can see if they read my messages etc... which is convenient. Same goes for the video calling. They use it since it's baked into dialer. ☺

For me, VVM is a must.
Will we able to use the Verizon visual voicemail app on this phone? Or should I plan on switching over to Google Voice?
I pay 3 bucks a month for Verizon visual voicemail, and honestly it's been great on my moto x pure.
Why dont you ask Verizon ?
I was told by 2 Verizon employees that all features will work. Visual voicemail, wifi calling, tethering, etc is a function of your plan is what they said

Because they are useless?
On Pixel XL 1, built-in VVM works great and is free.
Is there some additional feature that makes the paid VVM a must for you?
The Verizon Visual Voicemail feature routes to the phone app on the current Pixel. You can't even download the VVM app separately as it automatically has a place to go. Same as the iPhone. I can almost guarantee that the same will be true of the Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL.

I have Verizon. In the dialer app, the tab on the far right is for visual voicemail. It does not provide a text transcript though, in case that's the feature you needed.

I am on TMobile and have vvm in Google dialer. I had to install the Google dialer as a system app to get it to work. I also uninstalled the stock dialer. Not sure if that matters. And I changed the flags to true in the dialer_phenotype_flags.xml for voicemaill.

Here is the xml file. Unzip it and copy it to /data/data/com.google.android.dialer/shared_prefs
It has the flags set for vvm and call screening. Call screening doesn't work properly though. The caller can't hear the Google ai. Still trying to figure that out.
And yes, new voice mails show up and get transcribed. And I'm on T-Mobile, not Verizon.

If Spam Caller ID doesn't work, what's the point in using this instead of stock dialer? It's an honest question, I'd like to understand what advantages I'm missing. My previous phone was a Nexus 6P and I used and appreciated Spam Caller ID.
