Does video work for you all with this version? I get voice only.
thank you!
Works on Galaxy S - only video-transmission doesn't work, but maybe it's a problem with our wlan...
I installed this on my Galaxy Tab and I can make and receive calls from and to my Evo, but the Galaxy Tab doesn't use the front cam for some reason and the back camera doesn't appear to be transmitting video...it's only working one way.
SN: I know this was for the Epic
Nice! Works fine by me - thx
Sent from my fully armed and operational frozen Epic using XDA App
no video only audio
I can't send or receive the video transmission although the audio portion works fine. Anyone else having this problem, or know a work around?
works fine on Mytouch 3G slide and 4G

Have you tried downloading it via the market website?
Try this link and sign in with your google account.

You don't get app with wrong phone model. that app will tell you that your phone is not supported. So download Apk from xda.
Update: It doesn't work on SGS2. I can start it, chat, but connection brake on Voice calls. And video call doesn't work at all.
Hey, there's a much needed skype update out enabling video calling. However the new version, Skype v2.0.0.45, only allows/enables video calls on Nexus S, HTC's Desire S, and the Xperia Neo and Pro.
Any chance to hack it to work on the SGS2?
ETA: Sorry forgot to add [Q] on the thread title...
would be awesome, here's the apk if someone wants to try out, everything works except videocalling.
I dont know why it is just for 4 devices , the GS2 has the best front camera on a smartphone , i wish they will hack it like google talk .

hi,
Im no developer, but I've extracted this skype .apk file attached above and i found a file classes.dex, which contains something like this:
{white:[{name:"HTC Saga", mft:"(?i)HTC", board:"(?i)saga",model:"(?i)HTC saga", product:"(?i)htc_saga", device:"(?i)saga"},{name:"HTC Desire S", mft:"(?i)HTC", board:"(?i)saga", model:"(?i)HTC Desire S", product:"(?i)htc_saga", device:"(?i)saga"},{name:"Nexus S", mft:"(?i)samsung", board:"(?i)herring", model:"(?i)Nexus S", product:"(?i)soju", device:"(?i)crespo"},{name:"Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo",mft:"(?i)Sony Ericsson",brand:"(?i)SEMC",board:"(?i)unknown", model:"(?i)MT15[ai]", product:"(?i)MT15[ai]_.*", device:"(?i)MT15[ai]"},{name:"Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro",mft:"(?i)Sony Ericsson",brand:"(?i)SEMC",board:"(?i)unknown", model:"(?i)MK16[ai]", product:"(?i)MK16[ai]_.*",
I don't have any idea will it help to hack it in any way, but really hope so

Op! Please edit topic as SGS section has an around universal apk working on many nb devices including sgs 1 and 2.

Just installed on LG O2X: it keeps Force Closing. too bad. I saw that there was an other, older version. Gonna try it.
EDIT
well none of above versions work on mu O2X: when hit the camera button, the screens goes in landscape (still, the autorotation is disabled).
When firstly making a skype call and then hitting the video buttn, the application FC. so, so bad :-(
i use version from villainrom.co.uk and video calls on my sgs2 works great switch between camera too

Download Gemini apps manager from market and remove from autorun all system events like on boot completed, on connectivity change, on package install, etc.
Don't touch unknown events (usually uppercase) or it won't work unless you see it still active and remember that this way you won't be able to answer incoming call when program is closed (that's why it keeps reopening)

How do you enable video? I've installed it, but there's no option for video call... only the regular.
Edit: nevermind that: I uninstalled the previous first, and after the first force-close, the second time it worked fine. Awesome job. Thanks pulser!

Hmm... There's a new update available in the Market: 2.0.0.47
Hi,
I just sold my SGS II and plan in near future to get a Nexus, most likely because I believe stock Android is less bloated than touchwiz'ed ROM and because of the zero shutter lag camera.
But a friend told me, Nexus cannot do video call over GSM (I may be using the wrong term, but what I want to address is, video call over paid line without using internet).
Is it true?
Since I can do video call on my SGT 7+ and SGS II.
For now I just use my 7+ tablet as my phone, luckily it fit my jeans.. but look terrible wheneve I make call w/out speaker/bluetooth Lol.
It seems that there is no way for the Galaxy Nexus to natively video call which means you'll have to Skype or GTalk or some other apps to video call.
There is also a previous thread regarding this topic found here.
Just use Google hangouts

there are certain area where Internect connection pretty bad here so that's why I need over GSM
since my wife want to talk with our kid so video call is a good choice.
tried with several apps (tango, ym video call, gtalk) and they're seem lagging, so not really comfortable.
There's no native 3G video call on the Galaxy Nexus.
Thanks for all replies

I guess video call over gsm could work in the place where internet connection is bad, yes?
So that is why I think it is an important feature.
Wondering what stops the phone to use this feature since afaik it has front camera like sgs ii

Maybe I'm wrong but Android has never had native video call support. What you had on the SGSII was probably a TouchWiz addition?

You're wrong, Stock ROM in SGS has Video Calling over GSM aka 1G and it works since I have used it in the past. No data connection is required.
In the first video we saw a feature to record the screen and sound making a video.
But now nobody have this feature on their phones?
I am missing anything or samsung finally removed this feature?

It seems to also not be working right now.
This is damned odd to put stuff in your videos that aren't available.

They were using this as a selling point before release, we have to hope it will come back like split - screen, maybe it was just not ready.

I was looking forward to this feature, sad to see it's not available.
The thread linked below goes into a bit more detail about it (not much more detail). It may come in an OTA... I'm guessing the kinks they are working out, as mentioned in that thread, is the ability to block the recording or movies from Netflix, and Play Store Movies, etc.

Same issue as call recording or camera shutter sound then I would guess. Can be enabled using the csc feature method maybe?
I would be interested in this feature to record skype calls, if thats how it works (ibhavent watched the video lol)
Maybe the feature can be extractd from one of the earliest ruu's? (If somebody knows what theyre doing there)

It must be the shady ROM you're using, that is the culprit. On stock ROM, loads of recorders work great.
What REALLY sux, is the fact that it's impossible to record both ends, when you're using a BT headset.
I've tried every possible setup, with every recording app around, I'm rooted, enabled recording in ROM.
Nothing helps. Is this 2013 or is it 1995? Even the good doctor Ketan stands speechless! Grrrrrr.....
A nice recording app is the "Call Recorder" Link An even better one for our phones is "Total Recall" Link
doesnt work.

This really do sucks, but i'm using Slim Bean and not shady..
I used to have Alliance ROM and recording indeed was great, but the ROM became too slow after a while, so I decided to move to AOSP.
now everything works flawlessly including high DPI and lockscreen camera app, but the call recording is not working with none of the apps in the market. Incl. the ones you stated.
any other suggestions?
Thanks!
You can use the XposedFramework and the calll record app in there. That should work

You're joking, right?
I have tested Sanity as well, but to no avail.
Are you using stock ROM, & latest 4.1.2 build?
In case you REALLY got it to record both ends

@TS: I was just being somewhat ironic, calling
your ROM a shady one. As in "fishy"....

Well, I have now tested once again, and as expected, it only records the far side of the conversation.
I wonder what could possibly differ between our settings? You're, in fact, the only user ever, to report

Unless you're using a BT headset. Then the record button is greyed out.
I've come to the conclusion that this simple task is impossible to achieve.
User "Tubgirl" claims that it works on her phone. I really don't know. If you
google the problem, you'll find that no one else have managed to get it right.
I'm prepared to give up on this one....
I could be mistaken, but I think in-phone recording (that doesn't involve speakerphone) is not possible, at least on the ROM's I've tried.
