The problem there is that you haven't unlocked your bootloader. As the kernel is not stock you cannot write it to your phone with a locked bootloader. Open up your phone dialer and then type *#*#7378424#*#*, then tap Service Info and then Configuration. Look to Rooting Status, if bootloader unlock allowed says no then you cannot unlock the bootloader. If it says yes then follow this method to unlock the bootloader. It will wipe all data on the phone so make backups before you do so.
Once the bootloader is unlocked you will be able to use flashtool to fastboot flash the kernel with CWM embedded.
If the unlock status says no then follow this thread to root your phone with a locked bootloader.

Hello, I want to install a custom rom on my Virgin Mobile HTC Wildfire S. It is rooted, and i already know which ROM I want to install. The problem is, when attempting to make a backup using ROM Manager, It just reboots the phone (with the little "Tell HTC" icon at the top). I also cannot boot into recovery. I have alreay searched far and wide but all i see are " enable erase recovery and flash clockwork mod again" I have but to know avail I would be really grateful for any help (i'm a bit of a noob)
here is the info i see at HBOOT

Have you flashed the recovery yet?
If not, you won't be able to make backups nor will you be able to flash ROMs.
have you tried manually booting into recovery by powering off then holding volume - and power and then selecting recovery?
i had some issues with rom manager in the past, but when i went to backup manually it seemed ok.
Yes I have I flashed CWM Recovery and have also tried rebooting into it by that method >.<

YOU CANNOT USE Another device's recovery. "openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-hammerhead.img" is for Nexus 5 and won't work on Nexus.
Try flashing another recovery WHICH IS for Maguro.
OR if you have toro or toroplus then flash the correct recovery for them.

Done Flashing Stock Recovery, have fun!

downloading 'boot.img'...
Nothing after ...
But i can flash ota via sideload, o don't have local flash ...
You have to go into settings -> developer options (google how to make it visible) and then check "allow oem unlock" That will do the trick
Then you can unlock bootloader via adb, just as you were trying earlier.
Thanks you.
