Which ROM are you on?
What did you do to loose your CID file?
And can you clarify what is "CID"
is it Caller Identification?
I don't know, but I found this:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
Note: Repace 11111111 with your CID.
Source: http://androidforums.com/hero-all-things-root/495319-worth-changing-possible-change-cid.html
Dunno if that would help.

I have unlocked my phone via htc dev, and i installed the 2.17 RUU and i have problems with my phone and i would like to change the cid to super cid (mine is ht_j15 at the moment), i would like to revert to 1.29 firmware via ruu but it gives me an error because my bootloader is an updated version, so is it possible to downgrade to the old bootloader version as well as get super cid, please help
cheers
The short answers for the three questions is no, no, and no.
but i have s-off :s, and will these no's ever change to yes ???
XD XD
Have you tried the fastboot command (In fastboot):
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
If thats succesfull then you should be able to flash any rom.
Note down your original CID for warranty by issueing the following command in bootloader:
fastboot getvar cid
Why would you use HTCdev if you're s-off?
It's useless

I get none when I issue fastboot getvar cid, is this equivalent as having the 11111111 set ?
Have you actually got s-off or have you just unlocked with htcdev? There 2 different things

Huh~ never mentioned OP singanture's stating s-off.
Yes, I think he is mistaking he had s-off device through htcdev.
holy s***, am sorry guys i didn't see that its still s-on, but i sent a message to htc dev about not getting s-off and some harsh words as well. hope they will reply.
sorry guys am such an idiot

You had mistaken some facts, HTC never providings any official s-off. The htcdev.com offers you to unlock bootloader, it had limitations and you're not getting s-off through it.
ya sry about that . btw I contacted htc dev and to my surprise they told me to check the internet forums for ways to s-off the device (i did mention to them that the device s-off ed now is the snapdragon varient) and they said they have no intentions of releasing the s-off :S.

This is interesting question.
I know that when we got S-OFF using Sonic's Java Card, it gave us S-OFF/Super CID/ and Super MID.
I would think that changing your phone to Super CID, and not sure if there is a way to change your phone to Super MID, but that might be worth a try.
It would seem if super MID you would not get that error any longer.

AFAIK change to SuperCid is easiest of you S-off already:
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
Is it possible to add a CID in a RUU.zip?
I have a bricked phone without oem rebootRUU working, so I was trying to flash a zip RUU. I tried to replace a random one but it gives me error
I have 11111111 which should be universal, but I think it doesn't work anymore like previous phones, so I wanted to add it since I can't change my CID
Thank you for your help.

Does your MID match the RUU? I had some difficulty flashing an RUU despite having SuperCID because the MID didn't match.
