Hey guys,
I want to change the CID of the HTC Desire to receive OTA updates by HTC in the future. Recently the CID is T-MOB101 and I want to change it into HTC__102. But I do not know how. At the weekend I tried lot of things and failed.
The Desire has root via unrevoked. It is really difficult for me. At Desire HD it was easy but here ...
Thanks a lot!

its going to require jtag in order to change the carrier ID, maybe you should contact someone at RIFF Box for more info
http://www.jtagbox.com/
You dont have to change CID to do that. Once you install a RUU of that carrier with a goldcard, the OTAs you subsequently receive will be of that carrier.
Why change the CID at all?
yea doing as droidzone tells you will let it download, but you will need to keep the goldcard in the phone in order for them to install properly.
Yeah, when I received the last ota I could download it and so I did. But then it aborted on installing and an if clause appeared proving which cid the phone has.
And therefore I ask. Goldcard was inserted.

for the Desire HD you can change the cid to what you want (super cid):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857444&highlight=super+cid
Can´t that be done with the normal Desire?

i think its because the DHD has radio s-off and we only have a patched bootloader s-off

You cant change a CID in a Desire, you can only bypass the check with goldcard IMHO..

it is not optional. xtc clip gives supercid s-0ff and simunlock.
do you have full sim unlock? i would check that first.
if you do not place this onto your sdcard and boot into hboot. then clean the s58 data.
see if it helps.
I have unlocked my phone via htc dev, and i installed the 2.17 RUU and i have problems with my phone and i would like to change the cid to super cid (mine is ht_j15 at the moment), i would like to revert to 1.29 firmware via ruu but it gives me an error because my bootloader is an updated version, so is it possible to downgrade to the old bootloader version as well as get super cid, please help
cheers
The short answers for the three questions is no, no, and no.
but i have s-off :s, and will these no's ever change to yes ???
XD XD
Have you tried the fastboot command (In fastboot):
fastboot oem writecid 11111111
If thats succesfull then you should be able to flash any rom.
Note down your original CID for warranty by issueing the following command in bootloader:
fastboot getvar cid
Why would you use HTCdev if you're s-off?
It's useless

I get none when I issue fastboot getvar cid, is this equivalent as having the 11111111 set ?
Have you actually got s-off or have you just unlocked with htcdev? There 2 different things

Huh~ never mentioned OP singanture's stating s-off.
Yes, I think he is mistaking he had s-off device through htcdev.
holy s***, am sorry guys i didn't see that its still s-on, but i sent a message to htc dev about not getting s-off and some harsh words as well. hope they will reply.
sorry guys am such an idiot

You had mistaken some facts, HTC never providings any official s-off. The htcdev.com offers you to unlock bootloader, it had limitations and you're not getting s-off through it.
ya sry about that . btw I contacted htc dev and to my surprise they told me to check the internet forums for ways to s-off the device (i did mention to them that the device s-off ed now is the snapdragon varient) and they said they have no intentions of releasing the s-off :S.
I have T-Mobile branded HTC Desire with s-on with T-MOB101 cid code. Now i need RUU with same cid so i can flash it. Btw phone is stuck at boot screen. I looked everywhere with no success, could someone help me finding RUU I need?
Try the 2.3 RUU. It isn't branded, and you don't need a goldcard. It should work just fine.

First of all thanks for the quick response. I just realised today that all the RUU files i found before was posted in 2010(all froyo i guess) which forces me to match cid when flashing with s-on. Anyway I downloaded 2.3 RUU from the official HTC site which rebrands my Desire(didnt know that), and its all fine. Huge thanks to you bud.
Hi,
I have been searching for an RUU for the australia optus branded HTC one V (CID 980 or OPTUS_001) but have had no luck.... does anyone know where I can get it? I would be eternally grateful as my one V constantly reboots due to a radio update ota...
Have since rooted and installed many different custom roms with no change in the outcome... so i unfortunately need the RUU otherwise the phone is going to have to become a paper weight.
I've also tried many other RUU;s for different CIDs but with no luck (they all say wrong CID).
I would even be prepared to pay someone if they needed me to!!!
check the htcdev website. if an ruu was released for your device,it would be there.
There's no RUU for OPTUS001 CID as of what I know.

Ok thanks guys. So am I right in saying that there is NO way I can change my CID (to 111111) because its not possible to gain S-Off on the HTC One V?
Then this means there is no way I can use another RUU to revert the phone back to stock because it will only accept the OPTUS001 RUU?
