[Q] Updating my rooted Note 2 Question - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I heard there will be a 4.4.2 update for note 2 on T-mobile. I'm so new at rooting but I was able to root my phone. Now, how can I update my rooted note 2 from 4.3 to the latest one without bricking/breaking it? I don't have any custom rom, I am still on stock rom and I used chainfire auto root. Is there any way to update my rooted note 2? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It'll be awhile before it's released, probably a month or two. There will be plenty of time to figure it out.

you need to install a custom recovery such as TWRP 1st of all. This will allow you to install a custom Rom. You can find the link & all information related to the t889 note 2 under android development.

[Q] rooted T-Mobile Note 2 OTA Update install issue

I have a rooted T-Mobile Note 2 that is stock, other than being rooted and disabling/uninstalling some apps via Titanium Backup.
These past 2 weeks I have been trying to figure out how to get the OTA update installed. I am currently on 4.1.2 and manually added the 4g LTE radio a while back.
What, where, and how should I look for info that might help me figure out why I can't install the update? Thanks!
Seriously no anwer to this question? I want to know this too. I don't want to download whole manual roms and flash sometimes for just 28 mb update ota it takes 2 gb for manual flash rom. Right niw I have Note 2 running on 4.3

If on 4.1, you should download Mr Robisons pre rooted 4.3 image if you want to remain stock rooted. This will be the easiest way. You will need odin and a good usb cable.
Upgrading using this method will also update you to the 4.3 knox bootloader as well though, but this will ensure ypu are running as closely to stock as possible.
If already on 4.3, you may need to uninstall supersu and busybox in order to pick up any ota updates. Theres also root cloak if you happen to use xposed. Might be worth checking into. As far as OTA patches go, I wouldnt stress all that much. Any major update generally comes as a full system update.
Otherwise, look at some stock based custom roms. They are awesome alternatives to sticking with an oem build. You tend to get more features / speed when using a custom rom.

Thanks for nice detailed answer. I flashed stock 4.4.2 from sammobile on my Note 2 and since it is just flasheed it don't have any root access so I checked OTA and it was saying OS is modified try to get update from Kies.

[whisper]If you read it, 4.3 will come[/whisper]
When you rooted, you got a custom recovery, and that stops the OTA update.

[Q] How to update to KitKat and ROOT ?

Hello, I have rooted my stock Galaxy Note 3 T-Mobile 4.3 and now I heard that Samsung is rolling out soon KitKat update for the Note 3.
My questions is, do I have to unroot and return to stock then update then root the exact same way I did before ?
Does updating to KitKat require a different root method ?
Can I restore my apps and how ? I dont seem to know how to use Titanium backup and I even purchased it!
Please help me and thanks

I believe that you can update to Kitkat via Odin when the official update comes to T-mobile while rooted but you will lose root in the process. As far as rerooting, I believe you can flash recovery with Odin and then flash SuperSu in recovery to get rooted again, although, I think I read somewhere that it wasn't recommended anymore?. Not sure though. I used auto root method which I'm sure would still work just fine with kitkat. For restoring apps I would recommend the App backup and restore from the play store. Very easy to use.
Why dont you flash a 4.4 rom that's out there

I generally NEVER accept OTA updates until Devs have a chance to look at it and okay it, or see what others feedback is after accepting. Don't take for granted that you are rooted and have unlocked boot loader access. And until official KitKat is released its all hearsay as to when it'll come out.

OTA to 4.3, can i install JediX20?

Hi all,
I just got a Note 2 T889 with OTA updated to 4.3. I rooted and installed JediMasterX2. Running well for past 3 days. Can I flash JediX20 if I wanted to or not possible on boot loader T889UVUCMK7?
Since I don't have warranty not issue with Knox.
Reason is that I remember getting exceptional battery life on 4.1.2 on my previous Note 2.
Thanks in advance.

Update, after suggestions from experienced xda members. I flashed jediX20 on 4.3 dootloader. So turns out as the zip file does not have the bootloader to install so installed as usuall. JediX20 does require to install twice as this is an issue with 4.1.2 install not the 4.3 bootloader.

[Q] VZW Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2(JB) going to 4.4.2(KK) what's needed?

Hello, I moved onto a Note 3 but I recently took my VZW Galaxy Nexus out of the drawer it was in and I am going to use it as a secondary device at home on wifi only.
I'm rooted and running a 4.2.2 ROM, can I simply flash a Kit Kat ROM?
On the Note 3 there was a very specific process to upgrade involving flashing firmware update in odin.
Is anything like that required here or can I just flash a KK ROM like any other ROM?
Thanks in advance for the help. I feel like I should know this but when I went from ISC to JR back in the day, I took the VZW update and just maintained root with supersu pro.

Make sure you have the latest recovery twrp or cwm. Also make sure to use kitkat gapps. Everything thing will just work like normal as far as installing.
Thanks much. I was hoping it'd be this easy.
