Anyone able to advise me how to reinstate back to factory setting?
I am having issues with my n7 usb port or prolly the battery. my n7 is unable to charge or detect any PC/OTG usb devices when it is on. It is able to charge when powered off. the battery now depletes abit faster.

If you checked the recovery option during rooting with the NRT, you'll have an app called Quick Boot which will boot you into TWRP.
If not, ask to use a friend's PC or something.

I was charging my Galaxy Nexus and the USB burnt out. I cannot connect or charge my phone any longer. I am rooted and want to send the phone back. I want to unroot it and lock the bootloader to save my warranty. I have tried to connect via Wifi to relock the bootloader but I cannot stay connected when I boot to recovery. I have also tried apps like "ginger unroot". I have found none that relock the bootloader. Please help!!!
You need fastboot, which only works via usb - sorry!
Sounds like you need this part. If you feel comfortable taking your phone apart you may be able to fix it yourself.

Hey guys. Im sorry for this I am having a very hard time finding a flashable zip of the complete stock (non rooted) image.
I need to send my N7 back to ASUS because the USB port is busted. My device will only charge when it is powered off and when it is powered off nothing will recognize the device. I cannot plug the device into my computer (tried a million times on different machines.. pc mac linux).
I have unlocked bootloader / twrp. Since I am already going to be sending them a device which technically has a voided warrenty (I am going to cross my fingers and hope for the best) I would atleast like to send them it with a stock image (non rooted).
Is there a flashable .zip which is 100% stock without super su installed on it? Otherwise, what is the best way to uninstall super su and unroot the device while on the stock rooted rom ?
Thanks for your advice.
EDIT:
So I ended up doing the following:
install rom toobox pro
convert super su to user ap
uninstall super su
uninstall rom toolbox pro
I did a wipe so this thing looks as close to stock as possible other than the fact that TWRP is installed and the bootloader is unlocked. I really hope asus will take my device and fix it still. so goddamn annoying.

Have you considered flashing the factory image?
That is how most people return to complete stock.

The problem with this is unless I am mistaken, I cannot flash the .img files because my usb port is broken.
The whole reason I am sending it in is that unless the device is 100% powered off the usb port is 100% useless on my device. Will not get recognized by any type of PC or Mac, and will not charge. The only way I can get my device to charge is by totally powering it off.
I am thus screwed and am going to have to send my device back to ASUS with a unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed unless there is a way to get it back to total stock without plugging the device into the computer, which I ahve not found a solution to.

Sorry, I misread "My device will only charge when it is powered off and when it is powered off nothing will recognize the device" to mean the charging will only work when powered off and nothing will recognize the device when powered off (but will recognize when powered on)
But now that I see how that doesn't make any sense, I realize I misread what you meant to say.
There was a bone stock update.zip floating around somewhere but I can't remember where.
Been trying to figure this out for the last few days, Google support has been too. I've tried the basics, different usb cord stock and not, factory reset going to stock, different kernels, different roms.
I can only get my nexus 7 2013 to charge when I go to bootloader, then to power off, then uplug the cord and plug back in fast. Once the device is on I get nothing when I plug the usb in, computer or AC. I used to be able to connect to PC no problem. I use the OTG cable a lot for HDDs and my camera, now nothing works. Tried USB debugging on and off and MTP.
I would just say the usb port broke somehow and go for an RMA but since it charges while it's off I feel like it's software related... If you guys have any suggestions I would really appreciate it.

If you've tried different kernels, roms, and I assume different a PC, USB ports, USB cable, then you've eliminated software as a possibility, as well as external hardware, I would do a backup, (unroot and flash back to stock and relock is applicable) then RMA it, you're only delaying the inevitable by waiting it could be some corruption in the emmc, or some other hardware fault that might act unreliably.

Is there a way I can put it to full stock, bootloader and recovery through just the device. Since I can't connect to PC. The only way I came across was through the toolkits.

Well, you can boot into a custom recovery I assume, so you can flash a rom from there (you can get zips from here), then you can root the device (needed for next step), that part is easy enough, the following is only theoretical, go into the OS, install that bootloader lock/unlock app, lock the bootloader, then unroot from within SuperSU (that last part I'm not sure of since you just relocked the bootloader, so not sure if it will work.) Of course even if all that did work, you will still have a custom recovery, so hopefully they won't see that, I believe there are apps which can install custom recoveries from within the OS, but I don't think they flash the stock one.
Maybe someone else more knowledgeable knows of a better/effective way and they will chime in and correct me, etc.

I do think this will work. I don't think flashing a recovery voids warranty if you aren't rooted and unlocked... Thank you for the help man. Wish it wasn't RMA but is what it is...

I just did another factory reset. This time with Elemental kernel, stock 4.4.2 from google. Probably the 4th time I've factory reset but first time with this kernel. All of a sudden I got ADB connected to PC, first time I've had any response from usb while tablet was up and running for 3 days. Might not have to RMA after all

I hope it stays fixed, sometimes problems caused by hardware can be intermittent. Keep testing it daily.
I need help, my ZF2 suddenly cannot be detected by my windows 7 laptop and pc. When I tried to plug in usb 3 port, it wont get detected. If in usb 2/1 port, it will be detected but with the yellow exclamation mark. I tried updating mtp but it wont update (shows device is up to date). I tried reinstalling ROM and factory reset thru the ROM, but still not working.
I returned to stock but still it wont get detected on my pc or laptop. I ****ed everthing up when I returned to stock since I cant root it back anymore since it wont get detected by adb.
Evereything is up to date including 15sec adb installer 1.4.2 or 1.4.3 and intel usb driver 1.10 from 1.9.
I will try to reformat thru stock recovery and see if it will work. But before doing that, any suggestion or ideas?
Does it charge while connected to the laptop?
Have you tried using other micro USB cables?

Still usb device malfunction code 43. Thanks man
I had the same issues when my Zenfone's chip set fried - PC did not recognise the phone, phone did not recognise USB drives, fast charging not working. To be precise what happened: one day I plugged in the cable (original one, with original charger), the phone showed high temperature warning and shut down. Then after a while I turned it back on but USB wasn't working any more, except for the slow charging. Sent in for a warranty repair, it was stuck there for like 2 months before they sent me a new phone.
Had the same problem, it turned out that my zenfone 2's charging port and microphone had been damaged. Replaced the parts from a third party repair man as my warranty was void. He returned me a very well functioning and no more problematic zennie within a week
It surely isn't a software problem..
Hope it helped..

I went to a 3rd party repairman and he said he just replaced the flex data cable or something like that, he also said it is common for zenfone smartphone. Then my phone is detectable again.
Hi everyone,
I have a OnePlus 5t with unlocked bootloader. I want to flash a custom ROM, but my device's charging port is destroyed (Can't access USB debugging) and I am unable to get a replacement for some reason. As it is a device with unlocked bootloader, I wanted to know is there any way I can root and install recovery without using PC or the conventional methods that involve USB debugging?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I think it might be complicated to install a custom recovery without a charging port because you have to ''unlock a partition'' for install a custom recovery and you can't unlock it without a pc so I think it's not possible but my knowledge are not infinite so maybe there may be ways to do it without charging port.
I hope I maybe help you
How do you charge the phone with a destroyed charging port?

Haha good question. Well the thing is I have to push the wire real hard in it at a certain angle, but all I can get by that is simple slow charging. No dash charging and no USB debugging what so ever.

According to "activity" in this thread it seems you're stuck with oos until you fix phone's USB. Unrooted OOS doesn't even support ADB over WiFi out of the box and unlocked bootloader doesn't help in any way. You need custom recovery to enter flashing game but you can't install it...
I don't how to answer your question, but in the past I have had faulty charging ports fixed by manipulating the "lip" inside the charging port. You can use a toothpick or something like that.
