Anyone capable of unlocking bootloader R800x? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Unfortunately, my bootloader is locked and I don't even have a status to see if my bootloader status can be unlocked when I type in the code to my Xperia Play. Now, I've read that some people have R800x unlocked, and i'm interested if anyone here (trustworthy), does it? I am also willing to pay...
Most people say go to "Alejandrissimo", however, his website doesn't seem to exist anymore. I sent him an email but i'm not too sure how good that will work. If anyone knows of a trustworthy website or anything that would help very much.

how were you able to do that when step #2 says:
"In your device, tap Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed says Yes, then you can continue with the next step. If it says No, or if the status is missing, your device cannot be unlocked."

Skip #2, The R800x is different then the rest of the Xperia Play line. Just enter your MEID to get your code and then follow the steps to unlock.

As for the kernel I suggest DoomKernel. [DoomKernel Thread] [(CDMA) DoomKernel Download Link]

Ok, so I have X-parts downloaded. Now I have no clue what to do. I wasn't sure which kernel to download
[CDMA][v2] DoomKernel + WiFi Drivers.zip
[GSM][v14] DoomKernel.rar
However, you put CDMA, so I'm assuming the CDMA one. How do I put that onto my phone though?

Yes, the R800x is CDMA. If you're NOT going to use your R800x as a phone (call, sms, etc...), then it doesn't matter. You also don't need X-Parts if you're going to use DoomKernel as it has it's own recovery built in. Doom explains how to flash his kernel in his [THREAD] or you could use Flashtools. Also here is a [LINK] on how to enter recovery on DoomKernel.

Wow this is awesome, I read his tutorial and I have doom kernel on my play. Only problem is that I am without wifi, I read his tutorial, but I do not know how to do this part:
reboot phone and enter recovery
flash the wifi modules update.zip for my kernel
reboot phone and enjoy the kernel
now that i have a custom kernel though, how would I go about putting new roms onto my play?

You do not have to hold the Back Button you need to press it multiple times(As it boots up).

Oh no! I am using v2
What does this mean? If it means I have to get v3, I think I may want to use what you have, LuPuS instead since it seems more popular. I also feel it is more easier. But I am so confused with what .FTF files are, kernels, and ROMs. I'd like to just be able to use the new 4.1.2 jellybean rom and have it completely working with overclock, but that seems impossible..

Okay, first the way you enter the Costume Recovery on both Doomkernel V2 and V3 should be about the same.
FTF stands for Flash Tool Firmware(or Flash Tool File) they can be both Official Firmwares or Costume Kernels.
The Kernel(.img or .ftf) is basically whats between the Hardware and the Software(the OS and applications)
And the ROM can be described as the Operating System.
If you want you could use what I use:
Lupus Kernel Version 13 and Racing SPEED EDITION EOL ROM

I'm guessing that you downloaded the ROM to your computer, in that case you have to move it to your phone's MicroSD Card. There are two way of doing this(Since you are stuck on a bootloop), the first is to remove the MicroSD Card from your phone and use a MicroSD Card Adapter to move the ROM from your PC to the MicroSD Card. The other way would be to enter the Recovery(while its powering on press the Voulume- Button Multiple times) and mounting it.
Once you have the ROM on your Phone's MicroSD Card you can flash it by selecting "intall zip from sdcard"(In the Costume Recovery)

Ok sweet, I've learned how to do the custom kernel and recovery. I'm almost done asking you a ton of questions (I appreciate you a ton, I tried looking through guides and was severely confused since this is my first Android altogether). Now I ultimately decided on using Doom Kernel because it comes with CWM, which is nice. However, are there any roms with 4.1.2 that work with Doom Kernel? Upon looking I didn't find any in the rom area.

I think DoomKernel is only compatible with GB and ICS ROMs, if you want to get JB you need to use Lupus Kernel or Turbo Kernel. IDK why the Recovery would be important but Lupus Kernel also has CWM Recovery(All Costume Kernels have some type of Costume Recovery).
EDIT:
In Lupus Kernel you can chose what Recovery to use(CWM or TWRP)

CM7.1 Questions (Of the Freexperia variety) Updated

I'm getting ready to install CM 7.1 onto my xperia play, and I have a few questions.
1: KERNEL! What do I need, is stock fine? What runs best?
2: Will somebody link me to the FreeXperia Project page for the Play? I can't find it, and I don't want to accidentally install the wrong one. I got it.
3: Anything in particular I should keep in mind while doing this?
4: Um.... Any information I should know about, but haven't asked about? (please keep it about CM xD)

CDMA FXP044 - URL WAS HERE <---- This is the ROM, Right?
please don't mirror (we want to have download conunt)
HOWTO
to flash cm7 rom you have to take 3 steps (after unpacking the 7z archive)
step 1 - copy update.zip to sdcard
step 2 - flash new kernel (always use the kernel provided in CM7 / it is incompatible with stock ROM)
ON PC - run fastboot flash boot boot.img (an black window will open and will stay open untill kernel is flashed)
ON PHONE - put phone in fastboot mode (power off then press lower right key and plug usb cable) and phone LED will light BLUE
step 3 - when phone is booting (first 5 seconds) press volume key several times to enter recovery and choose apply update from sdcard <---- Recovery is part of the ROM, correct?
WARNING - if you used another rom (stock or custom) you have to wipe data or device will not boot<---- Huh???

OP:
Code:
I'm a bit cautious about what I'm doing with my phone, so I was wondering what all I need to do. I have CDMA Xperia Play with 2.3.2 stock. I've rooted as well.
Now for my questions:
1: Will I need Superuser?
2: If I need a fully functioning phone, will it be better to keep stock?
3: Is there a "for dummies" guide on installing?
4: What all will I need? I have fastboot working and everything, so what else?
5: Any information that you find absolutely CRUCIAL that I have not asked about?
Thanks for your time.

ok. I was still talking about the freexperia distro.
1) No you wont need SU.
2) cm7.1 is fully functional so don't worry..
3) There is no need for a dummies guide there are like 3 steps.
4) Download the CM7.1 package, Flash the boot image from fastboot, boot into recovery, (Tap down after powering on). and flash the rom.zip. done!
5) No
*Edit* sorry steps are for GSM play I didnt read the OP correctly, I don't know about the CDMA CM

How To Install DoomKernel

Hey clever guys on XDADevelopers,
I want to know how to install doomkernel for the xperia play. But I have no clue what this fastboot exe and drivers are. My Xperia Play has got an unlocked bootloader and is run 0.42 baseband which is rooted. I want to install 0.62 baseband then install doomkernel but dont know how to to.
Thanks in advance,
zeshansajid
Use the command window that you used to unlock the bootloader.
Download dooms Kernal and rename it from. ??version?? .img to boot.img for ease, place that file in the fastboot folder that is on your pc from unlocking.
Now type this code into command window with the device unplugged.
fastboot flash boot boot.img
It will then say waiting for device. Now connect device holding search button it will then flash doom Kernal
When ok type
fastboot reboot
Your device will now boot up with doomkernal, recovery and pre-root installed.
You will need to install the modules.zip in recovery (doomkernal press back key when booting) to get WiFi working on the Rom you choose to flash if you do install one that is.
Hope this helps don't forget to say thanks

[Q] Searching for Kernel manual

HI mates,
I'm searching for a link/doc/manual on how to install the latest Franco Kernel to my JB 4.1.1 GN, I've read several posts and couldnt find a guide on how to do it; also I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367341, but no guide on how or what kernel to install.
Please I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks a lot.

if its a zip file, flash it in recovery. if its an img file, flash it in fastboot. until you do a bit more reading and educating yourself, i dont think that youre ready quiet yet. but, thats your choice. just be careful when asking for help in the franco kernel thread without first educating yourself :silly:
Meaning, I just copy the a zipped franco kernel to 'sdcard' on my GN and install it from CWM Recovery and that's it? It'll boot on the new kernel? It reminded me when I had HTC running xdandroid, everything was smooth and easy

yup, thats it. unless its in a .img form, since francisco likes to do that sometimes. if its in .img form, then you need to fastboot flash it.you have a nexus now, its the easiest to modify
Well, I installed Milestone 4 and after installing it I sent it to reboot and it's now frozen on the 'Google' initial screen, should I allow sometime to the Kernel to read the hardware and stuff or its just screwed

was it in zip or boot.img form? maybe it was a bad download. to get back up, either flash a known good kernel or just reflash your rom(in recovery). it shouldnt take more than a minute to pass google.
Its was an ok zip file, how can I access recovery mode? I used to access trough a program called QuickBoot, but since I can't access the userland anymore, how can I access it?

Urgent help required. CWM problem, phone dead.

Hello everyone,
I wanted to root a Sony Ericcson Xperia Arc S and install CWM (ClockworkMod Recovery) on it and later a custom ROM. I’m a noob at this stuff. I did root the phone and it was working fine. The problem started when I tried installing CWM in fastboot mode with instructions from a random site and the instructions were of Sony Xperia S. I was stupid to follow the instructions. I thought that the method might be the same for both the phones.
Here is the link.
I’ll also post the instructions I followed.
How to Install ClockworkMod Recovery on Sony Xperia S
1. Use the computer for downloading the CWM file from here.
2. Then, on the same computer download fastboot from here.
3. Extract fastboot on C:\ drive.
4. Then, copy the downloaded “ecovery-nozomi.img” file to the Fastboot folder from your computer.
5. Now you must connect the phone in fastboot mode with the computer.
6. In order to do so you must plug the USB cord to the PC, then on your phone press and hold the Volume Up button and while doing this connect the USB cable to your Xperia S.
7. Up next, on the PC click on “Start -> Accessories -> on Command prompt right click -> Run as administrator”.
8. The command prompt window will now be displayed.
9. Now, enter the following commands (press enter after each one): “cd c:\Fastboot” and “fastboot flash boot recovery-nozomi.img”.
10. CWM will now be flashed.
11. In the end the “finished / OKAY” message should be displayed.
12. In command prompt enter “fastboot reboot”.
13. Your handset should now reboot into ClockworkMod recovery.
14. Remove the USB cord and disconnect the Xperia S from the computer.
That was all; your Sony Xperia S can now be updated with a custom ROM firmware as the ClockworkMod Recovery (CWM) has just been installed into its system. Run the tool and see which its options are. You will use most of it when you will apply the mentioned update so get used with the same. Remember that you have on Android.gs how to guides from which you can learn how to flash a custom or beta ROM like CM 9 on your Xperia S so don’t hesitate and follow the same.

Now when I press the power button, there is a vibration boot the screen doesn’t light up anymore. It stays black. The phone only starts up in fastboot mode when connected with a PC. I need to urgently solve this problem as the phone isn’t mine.
No matter what I try, the phone won’t boot, no recovery menu, no nothing. Just a vibration and then it turns off. Please don’t tell me to find it myself or look through other threads. I did look and didn’t came up with anything.
I’ll also post the picture. Please have a look at it.
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Ask me any question about the phone and I’ll try my best to reply as soon as possible. Also how do I install CWM now? Is there anyway to reverse the process via fastboot mode? :| Will the phone work? Any sort of help would be highly appreciated.
Regards.
with flashtool flash the original firmware or try to use PC companion to repair the phone.
To install CWM simply download from te market the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5wdnkuQ1dNaW5zdGFsZXIiXQ..
Hi there,
OK, try not to panic - it sounds like things are not a total loss.
First thing you can try is to unplug the phone, and pull out the battery.
Then put the battery in after a few seconds, and try to start the phone again.
Maybe the phone will start up nicely again.
If the phone starts up again, then have a look at this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1304634
(it shows all about rooting and flashing roms and kernels). Look for the section "Fastboot & Custom ROMS".
See if that can help you get to the next step with the setting up the phone like you want it.
There is another good thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
(it is a kind of reference that links to different places that can help you).
At worst you can pick a stock rom (one with a .ftf extansion) and then flash it with "flashtool".
This will definitely recover the phone, but it will probably lose data.
Between those two threads you should come right.
Good luck
flashtool flash back to stock .42 ftf always revive my arc s whenever it stuck at sony screen, never fail me unlike my galaxy tablet 7.7
Downloads of CWM gave me the same problem, use adb fastboot bootloader reboot and flash the appropriate version of TWRP. Find the links off xda to direct download from team win, don't download from 3rd party sites. Corrupted IMG's gave me a bit of headache when I started. It was fixed when I gave up on cwm & switched to twrp.

@deniel @Hotfingers @bruce16878 The phone is dead. When I press the power button it would vibrate and then nothing. No display. So I have to take out the battery. I tried PC Companion just now but it won't work. It can't detect the phone. The phone is only starting on fastboot mode. It won't even charge normally. Orange LED doesn't switch on. So I'm downloading the stock firmware and will try to install it with flashtool.
I hope this works. I did take out the battery many times and tried to start it but it won't. I'll update as soon as the download of the stock firmware is done. Thanks for the replies. Hope this works.

Don't attempt to power on the arc s when it's stuck, the outcome will always be the same, flash stock ftf via flashtool is the route to revive the arc s. Always works for me which is why I can enjoy flashing alot of custom rom on my arc than on my 7.7

Maybe you just flashed a bad kernel, or one that isn't made for your device.
EDIT: Dude you flashed an Xperia s kernel with cwm. Get a kernel for your arc s. ics or gb specific

Phone started! It booted up and is working normally. Am so happy. LOL. Many thanks guys.
Now can you people please ttell me how to install CWM? Some proper instructions, exact links to those threads. I did go through this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
1) Now I need to install CWM. I use it on my HTC and works great. I need instructions on how to install it. Please suggest a link.
2) I need to install a kernal. Want to overclock the phone to 1.6 Ghz. Your suggeestions or recommendations?
3) Have to install a good custom ROM with minimum bugs. I already have downloaded MIUI but can't install it since I don't know how to install CWM.
4) Is there anyway to reduce the consumption of the battery? I did reduce the brightness of the screen and some other measures but it doesn't make a great difference.
5) Any other tweaks you people recommend?
Again many thanks guys.
Flash a custom kernel or use pvyparts cwm installer for locked boot loaders.

For the XPERIA phones the best way to get CWM is to install a custom kernel.
Then to get into CWM you reboot the phone,
as the phone boots, you press (and release) "volume down" (just after the led light shines purple).
Most roms come with a custom kernel that uses this trick.
If not, then this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188 has a whole list of kernels that work with stock-based roms.
Enjoy - It's amazing how the right rom makes all the difference to this phone.

Well if you have access to your recovery you should be able to mount your SD card there and then connect it to your PC. From there you can transfer a zip file to your phone and flash it.
I don't see anything mentioned about which custom recovery he flashed.
Could this be a stock recovery that he is in? (that may not allow mounting etc.)

I think a little more studying should have been done before flashing things. Now that we know you can get into CWM Recovery, you can flash a custom ROM. Note that doing so will involve wiping your data/cache/system - so whatever apps you were using on your phone will be gone (along with the data for each app, like your preferences etc.)
And since your bootloader is unlocked, you can flash pretty much any ROM you like because the unlocked bootloader allows custom kernels to be flashed.
As an example, you can flash SlimKat. It is a custom ROM with a custom kernel. The page is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700456. You can find the download links in post #3. There will be a ZIP file for the ROM, and then optionally, another ZIP for the Google Apps (aka GAPPS), which would allow you to sign in to your Google account, use Play Store, etc. SlimKat offers 3 gapps (which I will link here because the GAPPS link on that thread seems to take me to a login page): They have mini, normal, and full. Take your pick..
http://www.slimroms.net/index.php/downloads/dlsearch/viewcategory/1150-addons4-4
Once you've downloaded them, copy the Slimkat ZIP to your external SD card. Also copy the GAPPS zip that you chose (if you wanted that).
Put the external card back into the phone and power it up, and get back into recovery like you did earlier. In recovery, before flashing the zips, you should do your wipes (this is where it wipes your apps/data/system). But as a precaution, maybe go into "install zip from sdcard", navigate through your external card to make sure the ZIP files are available to you.
I think that most ROM install zips take care of these wipes for you, but it's a good habit to get into when flashing custom ROMs.
You're going to:
1) Wipe data/factory reset (this will wipe the data and cache)
2) Go into Advanced and wipe Dalvik cache
3) Go into Mounts and Storage and format /system
Once that's done, you're going to go to "install zip from sdcard", choose your external card, and choose the SlimKat ZIP. That will flash the ROM and kernel. Once that's done, you're going to do one more flash - which is the GAPPS zip (if you decided that you wanted it).
Once that flash is done, you should be able to just reboot and the phone will start to boot into the new ROM. Note that on first boot, it will take some time - so you may be staring at the boot animation for a few minutes.

When you say you want to root, it means that you want to root the current system that you are on. But from what you have described in this thread, you are currently having a problem with your phone, where it does not boot normally into the system/ROM. You boot straight into Clockworkmod Recovery, every time. Correct? If this is correct, then rooting your current ROM probably won't help your situation (because you are not able to boot normally into the system).
Slimkat is a ROM that has root access included. I believe that pretty much any custom rom has root included. I'm not sure what you mean when you say that slimkat does not support your Z1 compact. You should be able to flash Slimkat to your Z1 Compact. The link from my previous post points to the Slimkat thread, which is in the Z1 Compact Original Android Development forum, so it is made for Z1 Compact.
That said, you don't need to choose Slimkat - I provided that just as an example of a custom rom that has a custom kernel included. Look through the Xperia Z1 Compact Original Android Development forum for custom roms that use custom kernels. Most of those roms have the custom kernel included in their ZIP. Whichever custom rom you choose, make sure to READ the original post (and other posts if necessary) to get the information you need on how to install it, or to find out what files you will need for that ROM (as some roms have add-ons and stuff you may find interesting).
There are also ROMs that are stock-based. Those can be found in the Xperia Z1 Compact Android Development forum. These roms also have root included, and are built to run on the standard stock Sony kernel. Some of them may be based on a specific stock Sony kernel version, so pay attention to that.
If you want to start over, and flash a pure stock Sony ROM to your phone (also known as an FTF), you can do that at any time by downloading an appropriate FTF for your phone, and flashing it by loading the FTF with FlashTool. It will then ask you to put your phone into FlashMode (which is done by making sure the phone is OFF, then holding the VolDown button, and connecting the USB cable while still holding the VolDown button. Once the flash begins, you can let go of the VolDown button) But !! Please note that if you haven't used FlashTool before, you will need to install some drivers. They are included with FlashTool, in a folder called Drivers. You would choose the driver specific to your phone, plus the FlashMode driver, plus the Fastboot driver. If you are using Windows8, you will have to do some extra work to get those drivers to install correctly. It involves booting Win8 into a mode where Driver Signature Enforcement is disabled, then installing the drivers found in the drivers folder of FlashTool. You can easily find out how to do that by searching online.
Hope this helps... don't make any risky flashing moves if you aren't certain about them - just keep reading and searching and you will eventually find the answers you need.

You could try to flash Kitslim (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2743177)
It is a slightly optimized rom based on the original Sony stock rom.
I use it and ist awesome. You have the stock feeling with this.
