Jet car stunts issue. - Samsung Captivate Glide

I hope this isn't against the rules, but I recorded some gameplay of the issue I'm having. If you'd like to take a look and try to help me ---
http://youtu.be/e7R55AKQBg4
As you can see in the video, when I rotate my phone right, the car goes left, and vice versa. As well, when I try to fly, as I rotate up, it quickly snaps to the other direction.
Now, I've no idea why this happens as it never happens to my other gyroscope games. Any ideas?
Info: running on CrDroid 4.4.2 (I think) the latest version.
Sent from my dictionary.

Had similar problem couple of months ago with Asphalt 7.
Try to lay your phone flat (on the table) and reboot it. It should recalibrate gyroscope on boot. Helped me, but I found using on-screen wheel more convenient anyway.

Ah, I use the wheel also. I'll give the reboot a shot and let you know.

[Q] Accelerometers won't see above horizon?

Hey folks, I've got SyndicateROM Frozen running, and have the following problem:
When I use Google SkyMap, it won't let me see above the horizon. If I use GPS Test, which shows pitch/roll, it'll detect up to 90 degrees up, but doesn't seem to register anything higher than that. I mean: when I hold the phone flat on a table, no problem. Pick it up, and face it in front of me so the screen faces me, no problem. Tilt it upward so the camera is looking at the sky, and it doesn't seem to register.
I've tried calibrating compass, accelerometers (with the GPS Test tool, and with sensorcalibutil_yamaha), but to no avail. Tried the calibration tool in system settings, too.
This happens with any Froyo build/ROM I've tried. Did battery pull, etc., no go.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Finally someone else has asked about this. There is an app called "Surveyor" that is used to measure distances with the camera but ever since I started using custom ROMs it isn't able to find horizon. Any help with a possible fix would be appreciated.

I had a problem similar to this (the compass was pointing way off and very erractic). I used an app called Sensor Debug and found that my pitch axis was reading -178 lying flat on a table. I went into the phones display settings and chose the Horizontal Calibration, put the phone upside down flat on a table, but hanging over it so I could reach under and push the Calibrate button. This worked for me like a champ! (Calibrate upside down). I noticed this after the OTA Froyo.
I have the same issue as the OP. I tried installing that sensor debug and it showed 0 for pitch and 0 for roll when laying flat... note... I put it flat but with the camera hanging over the edge of the table.
Anyways, Google Skymap fails for me too...
bump... any word... hopefully from a dev on what is happening?
Not flat with the camera hanging off... upside down flat.. screen side down.. with enough of the screen hanging off to hit the calibrate button..

Hmph.
Welp, looks like I've got to post here, as I'm a new enough member and don't have the necessary # of posts to post to the Developer forum!
In case anyone from the ACS/SyndicateROM team is reading this: AWESOME JOB. Flashed EC05 and Takiya (1.1.0) without a hitch. Amazing that it just keeps all data/settings. I can't thank you guys enough!
Back to the point of this thread: Accelerometers are still not working correctly, even with EC05. I've re-tried:
- Android horizontal calibrate (under settings) both screen up and screen down
- system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha, both screen up and screen down
- Battery out/battery in
- Recalibrate from within GPS test.
Good news is compass works, GPS works. Within GPS test there's a pitch/roll sensor. Doesn't seem to want to register above 90 degrees.
If someone is running EC05/SyndicateRom 1.1.0, would you try running Google SkyMap and see if you can see above the horizon? Basically, I can tilt down and look at the Nadir, but when I tilt up, no matter how far I tilt up, in landscape or portrait mode, it won't show anything above the horizon.
Thanks!
EDIT: Er, the app I use is called "GPS Status," it has the pitch/roll/calibrate stuff.
It seems to work for me (running SRF 1.1.0).
Unless I'm just interpreting what I see incorrectly, but if I start out pointing down, and gradually shift to pointing up, it crosses what I assume is the horizon (because it has directions like north/south written on it) and keeps going.
I'm pretty sure it worked for me on previous versions of SRF though.

[Q] Notifications bar not responding in portrait mode

Alright my screen itself may bed bad? I am unsure. I flashed CM7, and for a while everything appeared to be going smoothly. The real trouble began when I started playing Stupid Zombies(fun game, angry birds with guns and zombies). The game worked fine, but at one point the touch screen started acting weird. I would be holding my finger on the right side, but the cursor would be having a seizure on the left side of the screen. This random behavior didn't seem to affect the rest of the phone though, I pulled the battery and the same thing occurred. Eventually it simply stopped, but left me with a notifications bar that I cannot pull down in portrait mode. When I flip to landscape I can pull down the notifications bar, and the top part of the screen seems to respond just fine to my input. I reflashed and wiped and the same thing occurred. I flashed into a sense rom(while wiping of course) and my bar still will not respond to my touch whilst in portrait mode! I am vexed, any ideas would be swell.

If you wiped/reflashed and wiped/flashed a sense rom and still have the same problem, it might be a hardware issue! I'm not an expert on this but I had a similar issue on my HTC HD2 where part of my screen would work and the other part wouldn't, it turned out to be my digitizer that was messed up! I would take it to a cell phone shop and see if they can give you a free estimate on fixing your problem for you.
If you feel froggy like they say, try to do it yourself.....

I was afraid I would get this reply, I may indeed give it a shot myself. I'm pleasantly surprised by how cheap the replacement digitizer though. Thanks for the links.

Hi, I have a question. Did the digitizer replacement fix your problem? I am having the same exact issue with my girlfriend's EVO (rooted, with Cyanogenmod, done several wipes and flashes with no luck) Works in landscape mode, but not in portrait mode.
Get an app that highlights keypresses/gestures and test the area or test a different ROMs landscape orientation
Then you would know almost for sure if it was hardware.

[Q] Moto Defy + Cm7 nightly8211618 accelerometer/compass issue

Hi I'm on the latest cm7 nightly (8211618) and I noticed that the accelerometer/compass might be badly calibrated. On apps that do pre-calibration (i.e speedx, gps status, labyrinth, etc.) Everything works fine, but when I run apps that don't have any calibration options (i,e, noogra nuts, lane splitter, riptide gp, etc.) the accelerometer/compass (don't know which one exactly) doesn't seem to respond quite well (noogra nuts - the squirrel always goes left , even when put on a flat surface, riptide gp - jetski steers left). I can't post in the dev thread but hopefully someone will try to recreate this issue or help me out with a fix.
Thanks!
Lane splitter has calibration option...

For my Defy manual calibration works well - I have to do it permanently because my handy bag has a magnetic lock >.< ...
Hold the Defy horizontally in move it in shapes of an 8 some times.
Sounds weird, I know - didn't want to believe it as well when I first read it.
thanks for the replies, unfortunately still no proper calibration for me. Lane splitter calibration only works for the first round, if you die and start over, motorcycle starts leaning to the right. I recently installed NFS shift and this game also suffers from this (keeps steering to the left). Maybe my compass is just already fudged up I guess

issue with the game Cordy in controlling

maybe this is the multitouch issues people are talking about, but i've tried other games with similar controls and i had no issues, so i'm assuming it's just cordy, but i'm hoping someone here can double check with me before i go send the company an e-mail.
when i try to play, if i'm holding back, i can't jump. no matter how many times i press the jump button if i'm holding back it simply will not work.
also many times holding forward and pressing back sometimes causes you not to jump.
i've tested it on my asus transformer, and my nexus one, and both work, the nexus one not so much but it still does.
so i'm assuming that it's either a multitouch issue with the phone, or just an issue with the app and ICS, which is what i'm hoping since i've tried other games with controls in the same spot and they worked just fine.
just want to bump this, but come on? can no one take 5 minutes out of their day and download a free app and test this?
here i'll make it even easier, the market link
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.silvertree.cordy
I also have this issue, sometimes multitouch doesn't workd (OR i run left/right OR i jump), i think is the classical multitouch bug (if i switch from cordy to multitouch tester i can see the bug, and when you are in cordy simply lock and unlock the screen to remove the bug).

Multitouch problems on the Note 10.1 (updated 03/05/2014)

[Update March 5th 2014]
Probably all 2014 Note 10.1's sold these past few months are suffering from one or more multitouch issues. From what we now know these appear to be software issues, effecting all current firmware versions for this device.
There are 2 known manifestations of this bug (or more likely: these bugs), described below. In both cases it seems to be a software issue because normally the 2014 Note 10.1 will work fine and the process of re-creating the issues is very clear and repeatable.
It looks like the multitouch driver becomes unstable if either one of the following occurs:
1. (Some models) You place (a part of) your hand on the screen for (at least) 5 seconds without moving it. This would usually happen when you are writing or drawing with the S-Pen.
2. (All models?) You place a finger (or several) on the screen for a longer time (close to 30 seconds) without moving it (them).
After either of these situations a 'defective unit' will show very erratic multitouch behaviour for a while.
It is easiest to see what happens if you use a so-called "Multitouch testing tool" (available Free on the Play Store). Such a tool typically shows all the screen areas where screen touches are detected by the device (in this case: the 2014 Note 10.1). Examples of such tools are: MultiTouch Test, MultiTouch Tester and YAMTT.
Erratic behaviour will usually start with all screen touches suddenly disappearing, meaning the device forgets that you have fingers (or part of your hand) on the screen. If you remove fingers (your hand) from the screen and again touch the screen several times a whole range of behaviour is seen: touches are detected and erroneously forgotten in quick succession. Sometimes so-called ghost-touches appear (meaning, the device will detect touches not anywhere close to where you are actually touching the screen).
This erratic behaviour will usually disappear when you leave the screen alone for a while, although several people (including me) have reported longer running issues (for instance during typing and editing using an on-screen keyboard). A surefire way to get rid of the issues is rebooting your device.
Since this is a "Note" device many people who's 2014 Note 10.1 suffers from these multitouch issues will encounter it while (or after!!) using the S-Pen. Others will notice issues while gaming or during typing/ editing.
The following clip by Kizune shows an example of what can happen while being inside a Multitouch testing app:
More videos you can find below (in post #16) and in the SwiftKey not working well on 2014 Note 10.1 topic, where the roots for starting this topic sprout from.
As of yet Samsung appears to be unaware of these issues, although several have approached them about this, returned their Note tablet, exchanged it or even handed one in for repairs. Hopefully we get this fixed soon.
Note 1: from early reports (in post #83) it looks like the new Note Pro 12.2 doesn't suffer from these issues.
Note 2: It is possible that a build up of static charge (through capacitance) is causing these issues, possibly caused by bad wiring (grounding) of the touch/ S-Pen detection circuitry.
Note 3: A new video has surfaced (in post #89) which shows 'noise' introduced in the touch-detection software while pinching/ zooming (see video below). It is unclear if this is related to the issues mentioned above.
i noticed this using the stock kb. i'm not a particulary fast typist on the screen but i'd get far too many lack of responses when typing on the split kb. standard qwerty was fine, but that have been b/c i'd type slower. i'm able to hit keys quicker on my gn8 without any misregistering of keystokes.
the fact there has been to OTA's in just a week is a sign they let this one out before it was ready. i still love the tablet though.
It happens to me too just like you see in the youtube video.
Just tried YAMTT and I am luckily not showing the issue seen in the video. Perhaps the second OTA solved it?

Did you try the "whole hand" thing too? It would be super if Samsung solved things that quickly, but I feel a little aprehensive. We didn't get the recent updates yet in my area so I cannot see for myself.

Same here. I tried a couple touch apps and all were fine. The YAMTT app just seemed buggy at times. but I could not replicate what the video showed on any of the apps and do not have problems in real world applications either.

I changed the opening post because I feel many will be tempted to just try the youtube clip and not bother reading anything else. Hopefully we won't have too many people voting before properly taking all steps because you cannot change your vote once you voted (an xda forum limitation).

I did what the person was doing in the video and could not replicate what was happening on his. I also placed my whole had on it and put all ten fingers on it. No bugs. I am on the second update. Build number ending in AMJ4
Edit: the YAMTT app seems buggy because the other touch apps don't go crazy when all ten fingers on on it. But I could not replicate what YAMTT app was doing to the one in the video.

Did you place your whole hand on the screen of the 2014 Note 10.1 for several seconds, without moving it? Did you put your fingers on the screen afterwards? The video is not meant for reproducing the bug, the written procedure is. The video just shows what happens when you write, as the bug has already be introduced before the start of the clip.
Edit: The YAMTT app is not important, puting your hand for several sevonds on the scyeen IS. This creates what goes on afterwards. You can repeat it in any of the Multitouch testing apps, just place your hand (or part of it) on the screen for a while and see in the MT app what happens.

Ok, I see. So when I put my whole hand/palm on it for 2-5 seconds then I try to put all ten it starts to "wig out" a bit but it still registers all ten its just sporatic. Also it seems to only have a problem with like 7 or more after because I can put many fingers on it before it wigs out. I still don't see a real world issue on mine even after I do the full hand thing.
Side note once I exit out the app the ten fingers on it are fine again.
What problems are people seeing due to this?

As far as I am aware the problem doesn't disappear as simple as that. It would be great if there was a way to get rid of it without rebooting.
You could get any type of interface problem afterwards, as even one finger touch can give ghost finger touches. I noticed things being wrong in SwiftKey before finding out what it was.

Oh I don't have that at all. no ghost finger touches ever. I have not rebooted over the period of testing either today. Are you fully updated?

Well, actually the method shown in the video is the "previous version" of the current one. I could produce the bug with that method very often right after booting. But the "whole hand" method is more reliable.

1. When taking notes at the university, I sometimes move the viewport in S Note using the zoom gesture without the zooming motion. And as you can see, putting my hand on the screen as shown in the video triggers the problem for me, so doing that gesture is almost impossible for me. I know there are scrollbars, but they move the viewport too slowly (but of course I use them when I notice the multitouch issues are occurring).
2. Same as above, but when drawing in Sketchbook or ArtFlow. And here it's extremely annoying because there are no scrollbars I could use.
3. A small annoyance compared to the others but: When I play Carmageddon, the multitouch issues get triggered once in a while. And then I can only either control the car, or accelerate or break, but not both simultaneously. Sometimes my touches aren't even registered at all. I often get destroyed due to the multitouch issues.

I changed the description in the opening post. I never had it happen like that yet. Did you know you get the errors just by holding the side of your hand on the screen for a bit? I thought that was how you discovered this. Doing that looks very similar to how you are holding your hand in the videoclip.
Did you find another way to get rid of the issues besides resetting your Note?
Btw: With Carmageddon, if you are high enough level and want to kill pedestrians, not having control means your opponents die crashing into you, ending the race before you finish all pedestrians.

Exactly, I noticed it while taking notes. And then I made this my test method to replicate the error.
Anyway, here are some videos. The first shows a real-life situation in S Note with that problem, the second and third show that the problem also occurs in other multitouch test apps (yes, I'm looking at you, atg284 ).
And to make it more "real-world friendly", I used my old "provocation method" because that's how you put your hand on the screen while drawing and writing.

I do stand corrected I can reproduce this issue on the new Note, old Note is fine and dandy.

Did it take longer to get the erratic behavior like you said in pm? I'm trying to get the description in the opening post right, since we got 4 people now who claim they don't have it. I think the score should be 100%, and just included the Poll so that people at Samsung would quickly realise how big the impact is.
I can duplicate this.. just didn't figure how to repeat consistently until now..
First noticed when trying to pinch zoom in adobe reader .. you get very jerky redraw back and forth.. this could be app specific , but i haven't seen this on other devices

I'm also experiencing this. It's a terrible issue when taking notes in class.
Can we expect a fix?
