Hey all. Fist off, sorry about the new account and posting here in the Q&A and not development, but let me explain. I have been a member of XDA for a few years- my main account(and only account until being forced to create this one) is andr0id23. However, I am unable to login to that account. I keep getting an incorrect password error message and am constantly locked out of my account. I have emailed the people who can help with this issue, but still not having any luck. They did reset my password(even though I knew my password), but that still doesn't work. I try it once but it says i have used up all my attempts and locks me out for what is supposed to be 15 minutes, but seems to be forever instead. But I digress, just wanted to explain why I am posting from a brand new account and in this section(new accounts are not allowed to post in development). Now on to my issues I am hoping someone can help with. I typed it up in notepad last night while waiting for my account to be accessible and am just going to copy and paste it:
Hi all, I was hoping to get some help on my Galaxy Note 8.0. It is model number GT-N5110. It was given to me by a friend, who likes
to try rooting his devices, but has no experience and is actually quite computer illiterate. When I received it it wouldn't boot up,
but only go do a screen that says something like "Downloading. Please do not power off". I have no idea what is on there as far as firmware
or custom ROMs.
I am pretty comfortable with Android development as far as flashing custom ROMs, rooting, unlocking bootloaders, etc, but haven't been active for
some time now. I have owned a Droid, Droid 2, HTC Incredible, Droid X, HTC Thunderbolt, and Motorola Xoom and have rooted,
unlocked, and/or installed custom ROMs on all of them, ass well as doing so on several devices that aren't mine. I have used "one click" type methods
as well as more hands-on adb methods. I just mention so to show that while I am far from an expert, I do have some experience.
But I am stuck on this tablet. I can boot into Download Mode and was able to flash CWM Recovery via Odin. In CWM I tried
wiping data, cache and Dalvik cache, but when I go to reboot I get a message saying the device is not rooted and would I like to root. It doesn't seem to do any
good. I did try rooting thru odin, and it said it was successful. I have also flashed the stock firmware thru odin, but am still not able to boot. The
closest I get is a boot loop. Also, Kies does not recognize my device.
So, I can boot into download mode and CWM Recovery(though I don't know if I am actually rooted
and it will be of any use), and Odin does recognize the device. I have tried flashing stock firmware to no avail. If anyone
has any suggestions, I would be greatly appreciative and definitely willing to try. I can give you any additional info you
request. I was thinking of flashing a custom ROM, but not sure as I don't know what the tablet is currently running. If anyone
has anything to try as far as flashing a ROM or firmware, a d/l link would be greatly appreciated if at all possible.
I have been having the worst luck with samfirmware or sammobile(two sites that are named something like that). I have spent
literally hours waiting for the downloads, and the 2 times i did get lucky, the files were messed up. Again, I would be
extremely greatful for any and all help.

I would download stock ROM and flash with Odin 3.07. There are a number of threads that explain the process. Here is one... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2728370&page=3
GT-N5110 & GT-N5120 - 64GB 633x on board, Status Official on SafeRooted OEM ROMs with Wanam Xposed and RootCloak. The only way to fly 8+ hours!

I was never able to grab any downloads from SamMobile or SamsungUpdates. It just loads forever until it times out. I did, however, grab a stock firmware download from another thread. I flashed it with Odin 3.07 but it did nothing for me. I am attempting to download the files from the 2 sites again now. Hopefully I'll have better luck. Thanks
Idiot
Ok so I am a complete tool. I was able to get it going. I knew what to do, and was doing it, but was doing it wrong. The thread you linked made it dawn on me. I was able to flash the stock firmware through odin 3.7. Sorry if I wasted your time and I thank you wholeheartedly. Now time to root and have some fun :good:

Hello, I tried to post this in the developer forum but I am new so not allowed. I currently have a Galaxy S2 White t989 from t-mobile. Two days ago I upgraded my phone to official ICS via kies, I was already on Stock GB before and ICS made me phone practically unusable. I read a thread with directions on how to flash to stock from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513359
I followed those procedures to a t and now when my phone boots I can't get it past touch "android" to begin and a million things begin to "force close..g,apps,etc) Is there something I am missing? Just got this phone and I hope I haven't forever messed it up. If anyone has a link to a thread already solving the same issue...please let me know. I am a newbie with flashing so please have patience.
factory reset data
Thanks for your reply, but how would I go about doing this...I can't get pass the set-up screen to access the phone features. Is there another method to performing this.
Happened to me also, what I read was install clockwork recovery via ODIN (look for the thread in the other sections). Then you'll need to wipe cache and dalvic cache. Then you'll be able to continue to set up your phone.
OK great, will try it out, please wish me luck everyone. Love my s2, would be terrible if it is unusable.
Ok, so I installed clockwork recovery and still having the same issues...how I didn't anything with the recovery prompting to clear those caches?
yay!! back on stock and everything is working great..much thanks!!
Hello
I'm having the same issue that was stated above. I used the SGSII toolkit to do the stock rom flash and that is how I got to this point. I just wanted to know if using the process shown here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1858435 ? I skipped number 1 since it says it is optional. I now cannot find the "T989UVLH1.tar.md5" and all I can find is a file named "T989UVLH1_T989TMBLH1_T989UVLH1_HOME.tar.md5". Am I supposed to rename this one? Thank you very much.
edit.
I used the file T989UVLH1_T989TMBLH1_T989UVLH1_HOME.tar.md5 in odin>PDA>start. Then had an com.android.phone stopped unexpectedly problem. Used the toolkit to do a factory reset and everything is fine now. I'll have to do a little more research before I try rooting again, gave me too many headaches.
Hi xda!
I've been reading lots of posts from the shadows and this is my first reach out for help. I am fully aware that I most likely bricked my phone due to carelessness. The short version of the story is that after 1.5 years of having a happily rooted note 2 with 4.1.? firmware, I decided to upgrade to 4.4. When I finished the upgrades (after one or two failed upgrades), I blindly tried to flash route66 to root (I know... I was exhausted from travelling). Well, this gave me the "verizon hates what you did and you need to bring it to the store.." message. I thought, f-u verizon, I can recover from this. To the internet!!!
galaxyNote2root.com was my primary source of information and I downloaded the stock firmware as instructed. I had been using Odin3 1.85 before transforming this great device into an $800 paperweight. When I tried to flash the stock firmware, it would hang or fail right at the beginning. I decided to download Odin 3.07 and try from there. When I flashed, it made it most of the way (99%ish) and would fail at the end.
Back to the forums. I found androidcentral and xda-developers. I dug through so many similar stories to mine and found many of the same instructions which weren't working for me. One new suggestion I tried, which was deemed a last-resort solution by some was to flash the stock partition. This was successful when I flashed it, but I still got continued failures on the stock rom.
I have taken the phone to a "tech" booth at the mall... waste of time. Before I give up and sell a bricked note 2 for scrap, does anyone have any suggestions or know any wizards I can bring this to?
The files I've tried to flash (downloaded multiple times from multiple sources to ensure a good download) are below:
Note2-CWM-6.0.4.3-SCH-i605.tar
Samsung-Driver.exe
sch-i605-16gb.pit
I605VRAMC3_I605VZWAMC3_VZW
Odin3v185
Odin307
root66_VZW_stock_system.tar
I605VRAMC3_I605VZWAMC3_VZW.zip
Thanks for reading!
Edit: found a thread to go through that I hadn't seen before. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2296441&page=2
Can't flash anything now. Tried to flash the bootloader in Odin. When I get home, I can post the bootloader file I tried to flash. I can still get to download mode, but flashing in Odin won't even kick off the progress bar (I left it running for hours).
Now seeking out a wizard.
...because as an avid forum user, I can't stand when someone writes a new post when all of the information is right at their fingertips. BUT WAIT! This isn't one of those situations! Well sorta. The last time I was on this forum was probably when I was tapping this great resource when I got my S3 and wanted to root it. I read and read until I was fully versed on how to go about doing so. Haven't been back since. The phone has been great until about a month ago.
When the kitkat OTA update became available, I along with many other naive fools, decided to go for it only to softbrick the device. I came here and found THIS thread. I have been having some major difficulties getting through the process due to my general lack of knowledge.
I digress...when in recovery mode, my phone shows Clockwork Mod 6.0.1.4 at the top. When trying to boot normally, I get stuck on the AT&T splash screen and it goes no further.
Can anyone point me to a simple guide other than the one I linked in this post? Should I even be following that method? Any help is MUCH MUCH appreciated as I am stuck with my old Skyrocket (which isn't half bad still, except i have a lot of app compatibility problems).
I might add that I don't use custom ROMs (never got that far into it) and would like to be able to use the latest ATT rom if possible. Keeping the root would be ideal but at this point I just need my phone to WORK.
Have you tried wiping cache, dalvik, and data in recovery? Just remember that doing all 3 will wipe out any data and apps on your phone.
Before flashing anything at this point, what exactly happened when using the ota? Did it fail after a certain percentage, did it fail immediately? Error messages?
Also, that method needs to be followed EXACTLY, from using twrp to flashing back to 4.3 stock before the ota.
I don't know about cwm, but tarp has a built in terminal emulator. Go there and enter this,
getprop ro.bootloader
Let us know what it returns before doing anything else.

Hey all,
I have read all over the place on how to get this working but I honestly get more confused the more I read. I wanted to switch to another OS since my phone was starting to become bogged down (too many pictures, videos, old files, etc etc etc; My phone is my work tool since I'm a field sales engineer)
So I went ahead and rooted it with ODIN 3 v1.85 and I317-UCUBMK6.tar.md5. I also installed TWRP although I have no clue which version it is. I suppose it's the latest one. My bootloader is LJ2.
I always do the full swipe and a NANDROID back up. However, when I flash a custom ROM, I always end up stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Note II screen. It won't go.
I have tried to install the following ROM's:
DN3 - Always says "Failed" when I try to flash, even when following instructions of reboot recovery and flash again.
JEDI X 20 - Go through the entire aroma installer - it installs - asks for reboot - when rebooting, stuck as Samsung Galaxy Note 2 screen
and it pretty much happens with all of them. I have decided to back to stock (because I was a retard and accidentally deleted my NANDROID backup) and now I find my WIFI is broken.
I pretty sure this has all been discussed in various threads but I rather bring it all into one so that all that are having the same issue as me (I read a lot of people complaining about this issue with very scattered replies) can have a single thread that addresses how to fix this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks man. That post brought a lot to light. So I have the MK6 firmware but the LJ2 bootloader. I'll try doing what Zen Arcade says there but unfortunately I cant download his files. The website he's hosting the files from has severe lag and the files stop downloading.
I'll get back to you on how this goes once I'm able to download them.

Finally downloaded it. Installed it and got that particular operating system working. I will try to get some customs roms installed. Thanks for the help man!
No OS installed. I have twrp installed. So literally when i turn it on it goes directly into recovery menu. Apparently I have no back up or restore point. This is a Sprint galaxy note 4. Does anyone have any suggestions. I have been looking for a factory reset firmware somewhere online cant find one. Funny thing is my wife has the same exact phone. I thought making a back up and restore point for her phone would work on mine, but it didnt lol. Please I would be very grateful for help.
Hello, you could get the official software and use odin to get it back all the way to stock, or you can also just flash a custom rom since you already have twrp. To install a custom rom, all you need to do is download the rom and place it on a micro sd card, boot into twrp, and flash the rom from the micro sd.
Thank you for your reply how ever my trouble is finding an OS that works for my note 4 sprint device. I have downloaded dozens and dozens of different roms and so called " factory firmware" but seem to have no lucks. i have the recovery software installed twrp. when i go into there and try to load rom i still get error that says no os installed..
Thanks for the input i will close this thread now. my problem was not being patient at the bootload screen. I automatically assumed that something was wrong because it was stuck at the sprint spark yellow screen how ever little did i know a little bit of patients would have saved me numerous amounts of hours of research. Lost sleep, called off of work, and canceled weekend plans due to a little lack of patience. Well you live and you learn i really appreciate you taking time out to reply.
