Okay here's the deal mj5 is a 4.3 bootloader which is knox free and one can downgrade right back to 4.1.2 but issue using mj5 (or any other 4.3 KNoxed bootloader) is that phone cannot be charged on 4.4.2 when powered off it will power on if you try so.Get into download mode and see if it says "Knox warrant void 1" if it says that then you should upgrade to the latest kitkat bootloader which is ND 3 ,you can power off your phone and charge it while using Kitkat TW rom.Also you can use custom ROM which are 4.3 based.Here's the link to ND3 and how to flash bootloader.
If you are under warranty it will be void cause KNOX will be triggered if it hasn't already for you so beware.

How to flash Bootloader via pc odin

Just checked dowload mode and there where no reference to Knox. Just custom binary counter readings and system status modified. So it should be safe to flash mj5 with out fear of loosing efc/imei.
The thing is that i dont remember have i been using later bootloaders than mj5. Thats why im bit conserned to flash it.
Thanks for your suport so far.

Thank you all from help.
My problem is now solved and I'm on stock 4.4.2.
Used pc Odin and sams french firmware. What is strange is that now download mode shows me
Current binary Samsung official
System status official
Knock warranty void 0
And I have flashed at least 50 times with various roms and have had two different recoveries.

MK4 is the bootloader after mj5 ,mj5 is knox free 4.3 bootloader which worked really well with 4.3 aosp/tw and 4.4.2 aosp rom,it works fine with the 4.4.2 tw builds as well except that none of the 4.3 bootloaders (mj5 and higher) can charge the phone when powered off if you are running 4.4.2 TW rom.Many like myself are sticking to mj5 and shunning from flashing the knoxed bootloader cause charging phone by turning it off is not a deal breaker to us,since you are mk4 you already triggered knox so you're warranty is void so might as well upgrade to ND3 bootloader after flashing 4.4.2 TW ROM

Thanks mate it was really helpful
But now some questions!
Should I upgrate to nd3 bootloader?or this upgrating(going to 4.4.2) gives me nd3 bootloader automatically?is nd3 better than mk4?
Is it worthy to flash a 4.4.2 rom? When there's no completely official based release?
Thanks for your help

If you care about warranty then don't upgrade ,if you don't care about warranty (warranty is expired) then upgrade to ND3 bootloader.No the ROMs won't give you the bootloader,only the modem which is ND3 (i flashed it this morning and got the newest modem and still on mj5).Well nd3 is pure kitkat tailor made bootloader anything prior to that is for JB hence this charging issue we face when phone is turned off while on KK TW ROM.it's officially released for a week now ,france got it first so all the 4.4.2 TW roms you see on the thread are from the french version,Indian version released today on sammobile and some people are getting OTA in India,they are both the same only difference is in modem.So now ball is your court as to what you would like to do,wait around for sometime more or jump the Kitkat bandwagon

Well it seems that flashing 4.4.2 has cleaned your counters. Do you still have guarantee? If not then you are all good. And welcome to the Knox club. Now you can't downgrade bootloader Nor going back to 4.3 or 4.2.1, but who wants to go back.

Brightness bar problems
Hi guys.
I have strange problem after flashing ND3 bootloader on my Note 2 with 4.4.2 ARHD 30.0. The brightness bar in notification bar is not appearing even when the brightness control checkbox is checked in toggle settings. It was always fine before changing the bootloader. Wipe data/cache/dalvik is not helping. Maybe revert to MJ5? (As I assume that it was the one on ARHD 30.0)
Thanks in advance.

Download link is broken.

[MDL Bootloader Only!] How to flash 4.4.2 NB4 Modem

I would like to start off by saying that this is for 4.2.2 bootloader only! If you see a KNOX counter in your bootloader, that means you have a 4.3+ bootloader!
If you want to flash the 4.3 modem, please follow my other guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544612
I have updated the modem package with the official Samsung modem.
This process can be done on any firmware.
Alright folks, back again w/ a tutorial on how to flash the 4.4.2 modem on your T-Mo S4!
*Please make sure your phone is in download mode before starting this procedure.
1. Download my 4.4.2 modem package here: http://goo.gl/09W6fR
2. Unpack the rar file to anywhere on your computer, as long as you can access it.
3. Open up the included Odin and uncheck auto reboot.
4. Click on phone, select the modem.bin, and press start.
5. When you finish the flash, manually reboot your phone back to download mode and flash the modem.bin one more time.
6. When the flash is complete, reboot and you're finished!
It should look like this after the flash:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

If anyone has issues w/ their GPS after flashing, try downloading the Google Specific No-SSL build from http://goo.gl/ha1KC0 and flash it.
Credits to @Fenny for his patched 4.3 modem before the official release.

Is this is just the modem and not the LTE radio. Sorry if my terminology is off, but I remember there being problems when the 4.3 radios came out and flashing the LTE radio messed things up.
Thanks!

This can also be flashed if you are running a non-stock kitkat rom with the MK2 bootloader and want to try your luck with the new kitkat modem (gsm). Unless I'm missing something. Why do you call it "patched" modem? did you do something to the modem.bin? I could swear it was only necessary to pull the modem.bin of the kitkat release and flash it, without flashing the non-hlos.

Patched as in I manually took the modem files and updated them using the patches in the OTA. So, these ARE the official modem files.
Is there any suggested way to flash this from the phone directly?
Is the modem partition of the tmobile variant in /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 ?
We could take rockratt's at&t flashable modem zips, substitute the modem.bin with our own for tmo, then edit the partition where the modem is in the updater-script and we'd have flashable zips. No?
If anyone tries mobile Odin or already has please let us know the results?

Thank you so much. So it is confirmed that Samsung did the same thing with the latest (4.4.2) as they also did with the 4.3? Going forward, this will be a necessary flash to allow for the coexistence of the "Knox-free MDL boot loader" and any future "Stock TMo TW 4.4.2 ROMS" ? (By coexistence I mean Roms that have working audio and WiFi and data). Is this correct, or am I way off?
Thanks OP.:good::highfive:

Should I follow the instruction to flash 4.4.2 NB4 Modem on top of the hybrid MK2 modern or do I need to go back to MDL and start?

Tried flashing with mobile Odin with no success but no apparent cost either? At reboot to mobile Odin flash mode it aborts and says write protected or something? On MDL boot loader and mk2 modem ATM running custom 4.3 nemesis ROM. It says something about flashing triangle away to resolve it but without a working PC to restore a soft brick I'm gonna cut my losses until I see someone do it successfully. Regards

Yeah Samsung did the same thing with this modem. I don't think it's necessary at all to use a 4.4.2 modem on a 4.4.2 TW ROM. I mean, I used a i9505 4.4.2 ROM with a 4.3 modem and it worked fine. But I would do it just to keep myself updated.

[Q] help Debrand S4 mini GT - i9195 with out rooting or custom Rom?

Hello all,
I have the Samsung Galaxy s4 mini (GT-i9195) on EE in the UK, I am wanting to know how I debrand the phone with out rooting it or putting a custom Rom on it. (main reason I don't know how to and don't want to mess up)
From what I have seen I just do the following
Unlock the phone. (code from EE), then use Samsung's kies to update the firmware from EE's 4.2.2 to Samsung's 4.4.2 KitKat.
If I get the code from EE, is it just that simple? I enter the code and it unlocks to any network provider, meaning I can use kies to update the firmware and debrand the phone? or am I missing some step's?
Again I do not want to root the phone or put a custom Rom on it as I want to keep the warranty and have OTA updates as well as keeping the 'flash counter to 0'
Thanks for any help you can give me sorry for the n00b questions.

First of all is your firmware a Knox?
What's you're firmware version, is in your download mode the word Knox?
To enter in Odin mode or download mode, shut down phone while off press power button and home and volume down at the same time then release power button and wait until a screen appears release and Pres volume up.
If you have Knox you have to flash a rom with same bootloader version or latest
Don't flash anything if you're not sure what you're doing

Hi, just flash any stock rom you want. If you are from UK there is unbranded BTU kitkat version. Download it from sammobile.com and flash it by Odin. Its only a few simply steps to get it done.

If your bootloader is MK9 then you don't need to upgrade to latest bootloader which is ND3.Only drawback of being on the older bootloader is that you cannot charge your phone by turning it off it will turn back on.If you don't care about this then stick to MK9 if you want to upgrade to ND3 then you can do that after flashing the ROM.Also my advise for you to is to flash DN3 V5.2 it's the latest release and based on KitKat 4.4.2.
DN3 V5.2 scroll all the way to the bottom for the links,there are two versions full and lite only difference is that lite has bloatware removed such as samsung apps and all that full version has all that but while going through aroma set up you can choose what you would like to keep.
nd3 bootloader to be flashed via pc odin using the bootloader tab only after flashing DN3 ROM.
Thanks very much for your help. Noob question number 2 : how to know what my bootloader is ? And number 3 : I thought the bootloader going with 4.3 was locked and couldn't be changed so I feel lost, could you explain this ? Thanks already !!
Hey, did it, it works flawlessly. Thanks for your help I appreciated it.

Sorry I just happened to check your reply on the thread since you didn't quote my post while replying.Glad it worked out for you.To know which bootloader you are on download phone info app for samsung from playstore it will tell you that.Regarding 4.3 bootloader from 4.3 onwards all bootloaders knox and they can only be upgraded not downgraded so if a newer bootloader after ND3 arrives you can upgrade to that but you won't be able to go back to ND3.
Just lost my wifi/bt & wifi hotspot after using dn3 5+ for a several days.. I return back to 4.3 custom rom and stock rom hoping to fix this problem but no luck..

Oh, yeah sorry I'm not used to quoting. I am really happy with this rom except for two things : battery life is a little shorter (didn't install greenify yet), and there this app always stopping when I play music with deezer : soundalive. Changed it for the other FX something I can't remember but now it's OK. Thanks!

There are two bootloaders that you can choose.One is MJ5 which is knox free and will not trigger knox nor void your warranty (but phone cannot be charged when turned off) v/s ND3 the latest Kitkat bootloader which will trigger knox void your warranty (phone can be charged when turned off).You need to flash either of the bootloaders to get wifi working.Another alternative to get wifi working on custom rom which i learned few weeks ago ,flash DN3 rom , then flash latest agni or nadia kernel for kitkat and you'll have wifi working.Custom kernels have some sort of wifi drivers which enables wifi to work properly.
Tq bro for u suggestion....

Actually all the current 4.4.2 custom roms are stable,it all comes down to what features you're looking for in them.Whether you want S5 look and features or want to stick to stock N2 rom look with some stuff tweaked.So it's hard to tell you "awesome stable" ROM.Try a few yourself like a week each and then see which suits you the best.
Regarding which bootloader like i said the pros and cons of the two bootloaders I myself upgraded to ND3 after being on MJ5 cause i don't care about warranty and sooner than later we all would have to upgrade to ND3 and i am not going to downgrade back to 4.1.2 (if you flash mj5 you can go back to 4.1.2 rom).So just take your pick,both bootloaders are fine.

Note: You can flash mj5 then upgrade to nd3 if you like but you cannot upgrade to ND3 and then downgrade to MJ5.Bootloader downgrade is not possible only upgrade.Flash the bootloader after flashing the DN3 rom.

MK3 is newer than MJ5 and it is most likely a knoxed bootloader so you cannot go back to 4.1.2 you can only flash 4.3 and 4.4 ROM.Only reason to ugprade to ND3 is if you want to charge your phone by turning it off which is not possible on any 4.3 bootloaders. We might not see anymore updates from samsung when it comes to major android release from google cause google announced earlier this year that they will stop supporting phones after giving them upgrades to two android versions so our phone originally came with 4.1.1(mine came with 4.1.2 since i purchased it much later) then 4.3 and now 4.4.2 so the most we might get is 4.4.3 but that's only a bug fix update if any.So in my suggestion stick to MK3 bootloader and see how your phone performs especially wifi/bluetooth and if it's stable when you flash 4.4.2 ROM

Ah that sucks man! Thanks for the data bud, i'm Phantom rom 4.4.2. When i bought the phone it was 4.3 then i waited then used odin and put on cm 10.2 but the cam bug just made me get angry so i came off to phantom. I haven't had any problems with it and i was thinking of putting in the phantom ver 5, i'm waiting to see if anyone has had any probs with it.

Bootloader cannot be downgraded just so you know so once you flash ND3 you'll be on ND3 unless a newer bootloader after ND3 is out.

You can stay on it as long as you don't feel the need to charge your phone by turning it off or in worse situations your battery is 0% when you plug in your charger the phone will boot up and not go pass the splash screen cause the phone doesn't get charged during that period so you'd have to boot into recovery and charge your phone for sometime before turning it on and booting into the ROM but if you never let your phone battery die on you or dont care to turn off the phone to charge your phone stick to MK3 dont bother upgrading.

[Q] {Q} Downgrade from kitkat to jelly bean

hi guys.. i got a question,, is there anyway to downgrade from kitkat to jellybean?
thanks for answer, if you do it
You can, but it will trigger the KNOX flag.
Just follow the how to info in the Q&A threads.

That depends on how he upgraded to KitKat. If he took the OTA update from Samsung or used Odin to flash it he should have the KitKat bootloader and that would be true, but @civato has a ROM that allows upgrading to KitKat using the Jelly Bean bootloader. If he upgraded that way he can flash the stock JB firmware with Odin and not trip the KNOX flag since that's only done by the KK bootloader.
There's information in the Q&A section about how to check the current status of the KNOX flag.

hydrolynx, confused??? I am happy with JB, as most of the apps are good and a few tweaks makes KK less than spectacular to my needs.
I'd save KK for devices that lack Samsungs features... The newer devices will be anything but KK.

My note was dead last month, then I brought them to Samsung, they told me my software was corrupted, and had to reinstall it, they gave me KK, now I know what you mean gooberdude, KK is totally sucks,
Device overheating problem makes apps closed by itself and I can't even delete some files at my sd card from the folder...
Anybody knows if the software installed by Samsung can I do the downgrade without triggering the KNOX?
Thanks, I miss my old rooted JB and I want to get it back..
Flash x-note on kitkat
