TWRP with Multiboot possible? - 8.9" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Absolutely love my kfhd8.9 running cm11 (huge thanks to Hashcode!), but was wondering if the twrp running on our devices is capable of being modified like the Galaxy S3 that allows multiboot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2646528
It's great to be able to run the latest and greatest roms on my phone while preserving a "stock" environment for Wifi Calling/Messaging (T-Mobile) when I need it.
Probably not possible with this device and it's piggybacked boot loader, but I've been curious for a while and figured that I'd ask anyone who may know...
Thanks!

Well this was looked at before but if you compare amazon os to cm the ecosystem is too different from what I heard so it couldn't be done. Might work between other ROMs but I don't think anyone is going to create it for that purpose though but you never know.

Dual Boot on S4

Is there any way we could get dual booting on the S4? It doesn't matter if its a port or whatever, I just wanna be able to easily dual boot between stock and CM10.1
Currently we do not have an option to duel boot. I would love to see something like this but with the size of the roms we are dealing with the system partition would not be able to handle it. Not saying it absolutely cant be done but it would take a pretty dedicated dev to knock this out i think.
I'm pretty sure that it's possible to boot off sd (I'm pretty sure that's how the hd2 has stayed alive all these years) but i wouldn't know if it's possible on our phone. Would be awesome though, would be able to test ubuntu os n fire fox os if they are ever ported to our phones

There is a dual boot kernel for the galaxy Note 2.. Maybe the same guy can make one for the s4

So far, this is the only thing my Thunderbolt could do the S4 can't.
The second (and third, fourth...) ROMs are stored on SD until you boot them.
I was booting between 10 Roms on my evo3d , check YouTube for my nino-boot video, if anyone has the time, porting bootmanager would make it possible.
This would be awesome to have.
I would pay for this.
I'm on Sprint BTW, if it matters for this feature?
I found this thread via Google search s4 dual boot.
if we achive the dual-boot will be possible to boot another os without any other work? as said a guy up here it would be lovely to try firefox os or windows phone or any other os...
Dual boot would be awesome. I had 4 different roms on my RAZR... Downside of the sa4 having a huge os I guess.
Hopefully it can be done! I would pay for it as well

i wouldnt recommend messing with that, since its in the i9500 forums , our phones cant use anything from those forums because of the different hardware, unless this is an exception

[Q] N2Aos

Has anyone else seen or tried this OS for Kindle Fire HDs? Seems to be based on Cyanogenmod, but you pay for the installer and support. Was wondering how this compared to Hashcode's version?
N2Aos
I was using my faithful, trusty rooted Nexus 7 for the past year, but really needed a bigger screen. Was given a used fire hd 8.9. Hated it.
Decided to give N2Aos a try. Twenty minutes and twenty dollars later, I drove away in a new, pure android tablet powered by Cyanogen 10.1
and I never had to touch the tablet during the process. It was all done remotely.
That was approx 6 wks ago and still running like new. One caveat though, some launchers have weird glitches in landscape mode, but work ok in portrait. A coding problem of some kind. Other than that, it's perfect.

Nope, never tried it. My tablet is customization as it is with CM 10.2 kernel. I put on it what I want and remove what I don't. This might work well for those that don't want to fool around with modding their tablets themselves, fair enough. But seems like a waste of money for those capable of doing it themselves.

[Q] Android 4.4 KitKat

Hello everyone,
We all know Android 4.4 KitKat was released today(1/11/2013). Since the source will be availible, is it possible to port it to the kindle fire(1st gen)? If yes, please make a stable rom.
Thank you and have a nice day
(Wanna get rid of CM 10.1)
It will take at least a week I am guessing, because the update "will be rolling out over the following weeks" as Google said, and then people will have to port it, so just have a little bit of patience. Also, why don't you switch to CM10.2 if you don't like what your on, or AOSP for that matter, as that runs better I personally think.

Not very likely since TI (the chip maker for the KF) won't be supporting android any more... or that's at least what I read. I'm hoping that I'm wrong though.

Google said it can run on low end devices, and we do have Hashcode's 3.4 Kernel

I cannot change too quickly. Mom allowed me only for CM 10.1, and now for CM 11(It will come, right?). Cannot do CM 10.2.
That kernel is not ready for primetime, also there is code that the chip maker will have to release code for it. See hash and others posting about it:

Google says that kitkat can run on devices that have as low as 512mb RAM. We can sure overclock our processor to 1.2 GHz

You know, hash doesn't say anything about not getting it to work. In my opinion he clearly stated that he is really trying to get 4.4 to work. It was others that were being sceptical.

True, the first ROM for any android version for our device is done by hash. Same case for 4.1,4.2,4.3,4.3.1

As was previously stated, Texas Instruments is out of the microprocessor chip game and they have stopped supporting the binaries for newer versions of Android. It wasn't directly stated by Google but it's very likely that it was for that reason that they chose not to support the Galaxy Nexus in the newest iteration of Android, as it also uses a TI chip. I'd like to think that it would be possible to run Android 4.4 on the old Kindle Fire, especially since it lags pretty badly on stock, but I am afraid that the likelihood is fairly low.
True that it also what is written on hash's thread for the new kernel. He sure I trying hard and so my hopes are pretty much alive

They already have 4.4 Roms for the Verizon galaxy nexus...it won't get official Google support but they have gotten Roms for it:
Example:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2508073
So,is it possible? Yes. Will it take a while? Probably....don't expect it soon but as others have said hashcode is working on
It...keep your fingers crossed

4.3 binaries can be hacked for 4.4.

Is there a need to root and flash any ROM over here?

I already own HTC One X and HTC sensation Rooting and flashing ROMs over these devices gives you different interfaces to have fun with like flashing sense 5 over sensation or an AOSP ROM over HTC One X
And that like giving your device a new form and shape . so went should do that on Nexus 7 . will I gain anything different from what I have ?

I have rooted all my Android devices, but never owned a Nexus until now (briefly owned a Nexus 7 1st gen and was so impressed, sold it and bought my FHD). I just don't see any need to root my Nexus 7. It does everything I want out of the box. (Plus, I don't want to go to the trouble of having to have my memory erased when I unlock the bootloader).
My other devices "needed" rooting to work the way I like them to. For instance, stock on my Rezound would still be Ice Cream Sandwich if I hadn't flashed a custom ROM running JB 4.3.1, and the Transformer is still technically on 4.2.2.
Of course, YMMV and my guess is most folks here choose to root.

The answer to your question of course depends on what you want. I personally don't feel the need to flash any roms on my Nexus devices but I also can't live without the options rooting gives me. I'm a Huge fan of Xposed Framework and some of the modules like GravityBox and YouTube AdAway which works great for someone that has a lot of YouTube subscriptions. This is just my opinion but I just can't imagine having a Nexus device that is not rooted and I do realize there are plenty that are not, my brother is a good example. How can he have a 1st gen N7 and a N5 and not be rooted? The Horror! Horror I Say! No backups (Titanium - Nandroid)! And there are way too many easy mods out there like modified host files, and headphone volume mod and many others. There are some great kernel choices like ElementalX.. Is there a need? I won't dignify that with a response! Wait... I just did!

Just a word to the wise...if you must root, do it early. Data lost will be minimal (I rooted within 24hrs, so I lost nothing).
Don't forget that rooting and flashing custom roms are two different things. I feel that rooting is necessary for me, because I like having backups of all my apps, and being able to restore the same app and setups when I transition to a new device, or if I get my current device replaced (which I have had my Htc Evo replaced 4 times, and my tablet replaced once). I can live without it, but I really rather not to.
As for custom roms, that is my choice. I tend to have my main rom, and I flash new roms for fun. Sometimes, the troubleshooting helps to learn more about flashing and encourages trial-and-error. However, that's exactly what some people do not want to deal with.

New Fire HD 8.9 LTE- is there a funcitoning AOSP LTE rom?

So I got a deal on the Fire 8.9 LTE on Woot, bought one for my mom for Christmas, since she's been wanting an LTE tablet so she can look at maps "on a big screen!" that she can't currently see on her phone.
Part of me just wants to leave it stock and not mess with it, but I know she'll get frustrated by the Amazon ads & clunky interface. I was hoping to install Cyanogenmod or something a little more stock Android-ish, but everything I've read so far is that none of them support LTE, which is the main feature my mom needs to be able to use. Something about an old 10.1 CM build was mentioned in some threads, but it looks abandoned and buggy.
So is there any daily-driver worthy ROM that has functional LTE? Or should I try to go with rooting the stock image, or just leave it alone? Thanks!
