The title says it all, but I will try to explain it more. So I have a contact that's linked to a facebook, so the contact's photo is taken from facebook. When I edit the contact, tab on the photo, change it with one from my gallery, then save the contact, it shows me again the facebook photo, not the one that I've chosen from the gallery.
Stock Froyo...
Anyone any thoughts about this?
Yeah, I have the same problem, no one bothered to help me, lets try again
If you view the contact in HTC People, tap on where it says "Linked" in the top right corner. Then tap on the photo - you can then choose from all the pictures you have assigned to the contact - including from facebook, google, camera and gallery etc.
yeah but it doesn't change them no matter what I choose
thanks anyway
if you know how to remove the f****ng FB contacts from the dialer I will apreciate it very much
Think you have to unlink.

You don't hv to unlink.. Be sure to display the "main" contact is either phone or google contact, whichever u changed the picture. Pick from drop down list..
If u don't wanna see FB friends, just uncheck it from People - Menu - View, uncheck facebook for htc
from my Desire + XDA App

It did actually work this time, strange I did the same thing several times before and it didn't
I was talking about the ones at the bottom of the dialer, I got rid of the others a while ago, but it still displays the ones that have phone numbers in the dialer
thanks guys
If I change the source of the contact pictures and the contact is linked to a Facebook profile the picture switches back to the Facebook pic instead. It seems to stay for a couple of seconds/miuntes then swap back. Is there a way to choose which picture is used?
Edit the contact, in the editing activity touch a (rather small) arrow to the right of the picture
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
You can click on the picture instead of just the arrow. If I select Google instead of Facebook the picture stays as what I choose but its a low res blurry one. If I try using a picture from the gallery it switches back to the Facebook picture after a while.

I've just turned off Facebook syncing so I can choose my own pictures now.
My contacts show no pictures, how can I sync it with facebook or something for pictures?

Just tried it but it sends them all pixelated?
Yea, that's android for ya. Don't know a solution bro.
to place a picture for a individual contact.
go to the contact you want to add a picture to in the contact folder.
then press the three dots on the top right corner = to the menu
press edit
on the far right of the name of the contact there is a square with a face that where the picture goes.
Check this out http://www.droid-life.com/2011/12/1...act-pics-to-your-galaxy-nexus-try-these-tips/
This is coming from a TouchWiz-based ROM.
1. The AOSP calendar is nice and slick looking, but I can't point and hold a calendar entry and drag it to a new time slot. I HAVE to click edit and manually edit in the new time, meaning you lose visibility of your other appointments.
How do I get the TouchWiz calendar on this AOSP rom, or is there any calendar you can recommend? I would LOVE to get the TouchWiz version of Calendar on the Nexus. I can't drag entries with AOSP calendar. The only other calendar app that can do this is Business Calendar, and here's what it looks like:
This is what a typical day looks like:
https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/8hfObdeEkVj9SV2NQMYs4tD9pFGyYEySeJ2XOt5Mynk?feat=directlink
Look at the entry for 11:30AM - 12:30PM! It's completely, utterly hidden.
2. "Send Contact Information" seems to be missing. I can't press and hold on a person's number and click "Send Contact Information" to automatically text it to someone with the person's name already filled out. I can only copy the number, then I have to manually click on text, then press and hold to paste, then type in the person's name, and click send.
I'm using Google Voice so this is now a moot point
3. Why doesn't the color coding of my calendar entries match the color coding on my actual desktop Google Calendar?
fixed
4. The stock dailer in TouchWiz is superior to AOSP since I can directly text through the dialer as well.
work-around found
5. Stock calculator in TouchWiz is better since it shows history. This can easily be fixed with another calculator app though.
not a big deal
The big thing for me is the calendar. When you have to manage and shuffle around 20-some entries in a single day, the AOSP Calendar is absolutely un-usable. I need to at least be able to drag and slide around entries. Tried Jorte, aCalendar, Business Calendar. Still can't drag and drop entries.
You can surely text thru the stock dialer, just click the text button.
The calendar doesn't have drag and drop. But I love using the calendar in tablet mode.
Is this thread a Q&A or a rant?
1. True, you cannot. Check the play store. There are 100s of calendars.
2. Not via sms. You can share using many other methods. Just choose a contact, then menu>share.
3. Mine matches up fine on all of my devices.
4. You definitely can. Click on their thumbnail and the contact window will pop up. Or you can click the number and press the "text message" icon on the right.
5. As you said, there are many other options in the play store.

Recommendations on cals that can drag and drop entries? Or how to install the TouchWiz calendar?

Doesn't on mine. I have 10 different color schemes. 5 main ones.

Where is there a text button?

Response in bold.
Another thing:
When I click on any of the contacts it starts to automatically dial them. I would like to click on a contact, view the contact (so that I can share it, copy the number, add in new info, etc), and then if I choose, dial it. Why does it start dialing automatically?
TouchWiz doesn't do this. It actually first goes to a view contact page when you click on the contacts icon through the dialer.

I didn't know you were talking about from the dial pad, but isn't it just as easy to open the messaging app and adding the number there? You can text through the history tab though.
I can't really help you with touchwiz-esque replacements from the play store because I haven't used touchwiz before.
I know you probably have a habit of doing things a certain way; we all do. Perhaps the answer to a few of your issues is learning a new way to go about certain tasks. If not, maybe the Nexus isn't for you, which is fine.
My advice would be to try a bunch of different replacement apps in the play store. Hopefully you will find ones that suit your needs.

Use the people app to do that. The contacts tab through the dailer is meant to quick call. Or you can click the thumbnail to bring up the pop-up and click the thumbnail again.

This bothered me as well at first till I figured it out. First go into Google calendar on a pc, and set everything to the colors you want (no idea if this can be done thru the phone)
Go to the calender menu and select 'calenders to display' and at the bottom of the list of calendars press the button 'calenders to sync' and make sure everything you want to sync is checked and oress ok.
Go back and select the calenders you want to display in the app, they should have the color coding right next to the names.
Hope this was what you were talking about and that it helps you..

Just press on the picture of the contact (not the name/number) on the left and a pop up will show you the rest of their info. Click on the big picture in the pop up to go to the people app where you can share, edit, etc.

I understand that there's a bias towards the way "things were always done." But in the calendar's case, say that you need to swap two entries.
Entry 1 at 1PM and Entry 2 at 5:30PM. These need to have their times swapped with each other.
In TouchWiz this can be accomplished with two swipes.
In AOSP this needs 10 or more taps, going in and out of the calendar view and the edit entry view, and for you to remember that you need to put Entry 1 at 5:30 (not 4:30, not 6:30), etc.
This is simply a matter of a horrible user interface and user experience.
Is it possible to get the TouchWiz calendar on this device?
Touchwiz is a skin on top, you can try go launcher with is other goodies like go contacts and more.
You can also try the touchwiz ux port search for it. Think its on market too.

Wow I just realized that you can't share a contact via sms as well!
How dumb....this feature was even available on Nokia S60 and I used it quite a bit on my Captivate and SGS2!

I wish it were that easy. The main concern is the calendar. It's more than just a skin.
I did search to avoid overlap post but found no post talk about that so if it is overlapped, please help me to delete this post. Thanks.
I found a small tip to view pictures from stock gallery of sense 4+:
Normally, you open the gallery, choose album to view and tap to picture that you want to view then you could sweep your finger to left or right to view next or previous picture. The tips is that in single picture view, you could do FAST DOUBLE SWEEP (both in portrait and landscape) to make pictures to be view in INLINE CONTINUOUSLY method, that enable you to quickly find/change to other pictures without returning to album view.
I am sorry if this tips may not be new with many people and may not to be new in HTC sense and sorry for my poor English.
Is this foreal? ..
- I wonder if there is ANY sense user since Sense 3 that dont know this feature exists?
That feature has already been known and is on sense 3.6
