I want to flash an older sorcery ROM and had troubles. It was suggested I try flashing an older recovery but in the gooim app I can't see how to flash old recoveries. Ideas?

Which variant do you have? Toro? Maguro? Toroplus?

Go there, search for your variant. Should have multiple downloads available.
But you shouldn't need to install older recovery to install older ROM. I thought they were all backward compatible.(I've never fully tested it but I've flashed older ROMs using newer recovery versions so that's how I always thought it was)
Are you using NEWEST twrp?

There are certain people which found that when they revert their recovery to an older version, they can flash older 4.2 and 4.3 ROMs. I find it strange and thought recoveries are all backward compatible too. However, 4.4 recoveries work differently.

Yes I am on the latest. Thank you. I am Toro. I had a problem last month or two months ago installing the ROM and it was suggested that I downgrade my recovery. I am just getting around to that now. To be fair I haven't tried flashing since then but I guess I might as well give that a try first.

I recently found out that my rooted stock sprint gnex running 4.2.1 needed to be unrooted in order to receive the recent update to 4.3 . I wish to unroot, receive the update and then reroot. My question is if I unroot and reroot will I lose any personal data, or is that "problem" only associated with unlocking the device? Thanks!
Why not just flash the 4.3 stock rooted ROM posted in the Sprint GNex thread

yea it would make more sense to do this.
google galaxy nexus 4.3 roms and look for the factory image title... then scroll down to the gnex that is yours (maguro, toro, or toroplus based on your carrier) and download and flash
---------- Post added at 09:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:43 PM ----------
you could also google galaxy root toolkit
a real easy tool to use to root/unroot/backup/install custom recovery
and as I look for the factory images, it doesnt appear that there is a factory image for toro+ atm... so i dont even know if unrooting will get you the update.

I have my phone rooted with this only. I used Odin and this file. CF-Auto-Root-d2spr-d2spr-sphl710.tar.md5
I do have super user and that's it. I was wondering with this new update rolling out from Sprint soon for 4.3. Will I need to un root or can I just update it and lose root.
If I have to un root can someone tell me the easiest. I'm new to this.
I have the Sprint SPH-L710
What I've read is that you have to be on stock ROM doesn't matter if it's rooted/non-rooted. But my suggestion is to wait because there is no coming back to an older version once you upgraded to 4.3. (I maybe wrong on the rooted part ) But it doesn't hurt to double check the threads

Same boat as OP. Can anyone confirm if a rooted stock ROM can be updated to 4.3 without having to unroot?.

This might have more to do with custom firmware count...
Though I started messing with Android and Linux only 7 or so months ago.

I would recommend checking out "High on Android" video's at youtube, that guy got me started and I haven't looked back, he makes it easy for noobs like us.
Honestly I would go and read up on the general section. There is a ton of info over there. This has been discussed beyond end. The answer is yes you can be rooted but you have to be 100 percent stock! Meaning you have to have stock recovery and stock rom. Once you update to 4.3 OTA you will be stuck on stock for awhile! You will not be able to flash roms or kernels. PLEASE BEWARE! Cnexus has an entire thread explaining knox!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541343
I would do what is recommended and wait..it's being worked on and we will be set free of the Knox Ness monster soon enough.

OK guys, There is no way I am the only one with a 900T itching to get my hands on KK and X-Note 9.0. I am very new to the whole rooting android devices but I am quickly learning the ropes. I have been reading many posts were where this is available to the 9005 versions. I also know that the 900T and 9005 are almost the same phone with 900T being locked (temporarily) to TMobile. I have been searching the threads for the past week looking for the answer if anyone with a 900T has been able to install the Official Poland Version 4.4.2 on their 900T. As some help I have been emailing someone else with a T-Mobile phone that helps to specialize in hard bricked devices. I am including the emails and I hope to get this thread moving forward. If it is not possible I would like to see if there is a way to work the system to get us the X-note 9.0 upgrade.

Side note: What I am going to attempt is to install the Poland version of kk to my phone. It is for the 9005 model (which the tmobile device is). Tmobile phones can run 9005 roms with a few updates, but I am not sure about the kk upgrade.

Please do not flash another bootloader phone's model. it will hardbrick or IMEI number will be gone.
Until we get an official Kernel for 4.4.2 for Tmobile we wont be able to install it. I even tried it last night since I've used previous X-note editions in the past. Hopefully in a couple more weeks we'll have a kernel.

A few questions since I have spent a lot of time digging here in the threads.
1. Did you install the Official Poland 4.4.2 KK update?
2. Did you install the latest compulsion Kernel?

I didn't. If I remember correctly Odin wouldn't let me install the bootloader

Not to question your methods as I have not attempted yet. Did you have the correct boxes checked including the install bootloader? Also did you have your device is usb debug mode? Or is it impossible to flash another regions bootloader?

None of the 9005 roms will run on the N900T without a official KK kernel made for our device, I have done all the research, and it has the same issues that I went thru with Vision.

Axeman, Thank you very much for commenting on this post. I have seen your information alot dieingmy research. I have been attempting to gain traction on this topic. I do have a few questions.
1: is it possible to flash the official Poland KitKat version?
2: if it is possible, what are the risks that we are looking at?
I can see the problem with not having a custom kernel. Here is a link to one that I found earlier today.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5027195
I also saw a thread today where the Canadian version is now able to upgrade to Kit Kat and flash x-note 9.0
Thank you again for your input.

There is a link in the q&a forum for xnote. This gives specific instructions for getting it to work on tmobile versions of the note 3. I tried on 4.3 and was successful and also on 4.4.2 successful as well. im aroma I just selected the uk version to flash. you probably already know this but I thought id post this for future reference for other members. this rom is real stable and has not gave me any issues whatsoever from version 11 to 13
I'm on V12 and I LOVE THIS ROM

The only thing I flashed through odin was the 4.4.2 bootloader for tmobile
Everything else was done through recovery
Tmobile version xnote 13
Civ version 2.1 kernel for tmobile note 3
And nfc wifi fix
I do recall reding along the threads somewhere that if you flash a non tmobile bootloader through odin you will end up with a fancy paper weight.

Who have the D2CAN Spanish file.
csc 4.4.2
Its not a file that makes a language work. It has to be built in throughout the rom. Then the languages.xml file can be used to enable it.
---------- Post added at 07:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:42 PM ----------
You can flash this to enable all Available languages.

If it didn't work, that means your current rom is not capable of using the languages you wanted.

Am using Carrier I747MOYAFNF2_I747MVLUFNF2 from SAMMOBILE.
Thanks @Docholiday
..
I don't know what languages are available in each carriers build. But flashing the file I posted should enable any language available on any rom. Have you tried the Wind NE6 base rom that CNexus? Pretty sure I heard that one of the I747M carriers had more languages than the others.

Yeah, that's the one I was referring to. Not sure if it does or doesn't have what you need, but its the only one I'm aware of right now.
Alternative: get Mobile Odin and read up on how to use it. You can use it to flash the other carriers firmware. Just make sure you de-select the modem and recovery.
It will be safe to use in your case because it does not flash bootloader or base parts of the firmware. It only flashes system, kernel, modem, recovery and cache. So if you tell it not to flash the modem or recovery, it'll easy be like flashing a rom by selectively using only parts of the full firmware.
Hello,
Ive spent the day just googling away about rooting this pda.
Ive found a lot of stuff but im afraid ill brick it if i choose the wrong option.
I got the build: KOT49H.P5220XXUBOA2
I was thinkig about following this guide with odin and CF-AUTO-ROOT but the build number they refer to is : KOT49H.P5220XXUBNH2 (as you see it has "NH2" in the end and mine got "OA2"
.....
Can someone please give me a helping hand?
Thanks in advance!
The best/safest way to root is to flash TWRP and then install SuperSU.zip file with TWRP.
I believe, a build as old as this, kingroot or kingoroot will root it.

Doesn't TWRP require a SDCARD ?
I do not have a separate sdcard at the moment, need to buy one.
Or am i confusing it wih something else?

TWRP doesn't require an external card. You will most likely be flashing it with Odin, so you will only need the file on your cpu. Also, if you get ahold of TWRP 3.0 or newer, it will give you the option to root the device.

One last question, Im reading on the TWRP site on the supported devices list and my model TAB 3 10.1 isnt on it.. onyl TAB E and TAB 2...
Does this mean it wont work for the modell I have?

Yes, but I'll do some checking... there's probably an unofficial version for the device made by someone here on xda.

There definitely is a custom recovery of some type for it, it appears that they have lineage 14 for it. Check here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3340938 and then check out the Samsung Tab 3 10.1 android development section for ROMs.

You don't have to install a ROM. You can do that down the line if you get bored with the one you're on currently.
