Help me guys, my phone suddenly started not to be recognised by the Windows, not even in the download mode. Whatever charger i plug in it says that to be ac charger, even connecting to pc charge the phone as fast charge. Now i cant even use lg flashtool. Help whether its a hardware issue or software problem i flashed kitkat over 4.1.2 for checking that might be a rom issue but that didnt correct the issue

Changebthe usb cable. That maybe causing the issue

That is not the cause of this, changed almost five cables

Bad port?
Sent from my LG-E980 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes i think so, because what i believe it's that if i change rom then the software issue should have been resolved, has any one gotten any experience of repairing the port

Ugh same problem
My LG E980 is bricked. I can access download mode and that is it! I am unable to boot into recovery,
and the hard reset screen simply sits there forever. My computer only recognizes my device as an "unknown usb device."
I'm unsure what can be done about this, but I feel like this is better than the infamous QHSUB icon displayed when the device cannot be recovered.
Does anyone have a remedy for this problem?? I have GOT to fix this phone and can't afford to Jtag the device :crying:

Try uninstalling the unknown device from device manager on your computer and see what it does when the computer scan for new hardware. All when the phone is in download mode of course.

The question is that whether it fixed the problem or not, can it be a software related issue

Hi Sir,
You might also want to check LG Hidden menu settings
1. Dial 3845#*988# (change 988 to model of your phone)
2. Scroll down and search for "Charging mode on/off" then try to change the setting
Hope this might help

My Phone does not recognize its connected to a pc. I've tried with multiple pcs (4) It only worked on 1 of them (a old xp machine at work) Yet it wont work on my win 7 machine and my other 2 xp ones. It will not ask me what to do or even show up in device manager. Like its stuck in charge mode. It does not connect in hboot either, I do not think it is the port because it is the same with my husbands phone.

I'm having the same issue. The GPS keeps coming on, even with everything turned off in the general settings and within my apps. I did a factory reset and wiped all my data and the problem still persist. I also have taken out the battery, sim and sd card too and still no luck. So if anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I have not had this problem, I'm on ATT as well. Although I do not have the value pack upgrade as it seems to cause degraded battery and gaming performance on my phone.
Try factory reset from settings...save all your data first on a ext-sdcard or on your pc then do the factory reset...

I call at&t and they have no complaint reports for this issue. Or know anything about it. They guy from tech care recommend a master reset. Wich i say No. Cause i work for tmobile and thats what i do to clients lol! Karma is a bi#$%.
Anyways location access so far turn on while making a call, conecting to wifi or data. Or waking the phone from stand by.
I went to google settings and under location i turn off the location reporting & location history. So far so good. So i will keep testing this and let you guys now.

No this is becoming a widespread issue. I had this problem and literally would watch the switch go from off to on in a matter of seconds. Everytime I received a phone call it would turn the GPS on, each and every time. I had to disable the carrier iq and all the services associated with it, and surprisingly my battery life has significantly increased on standby.
How do you disable the carrier iq? What did you disable exactly?

Never mind i did already. I totally forgot about the carrier iq. My previous phone did not have as it was a international version. Finally gone the annoying gps turn it on.

I have noticed this issue as well. I am trying to pin down exactly what is causing it. I believe I am getting close, as I have noticed a specific Google location service being active each time I have had problems with the GPS. After stopping that location service the gps isn't turning on every 2-3 minutes.

Soo. My phone is bricked for almost 4 months now, cause i installed a kernel manually thru terminal, and i typed the code correctly but a bootloop and yeah no recovery. So i tried odin and that Son of a truck isnt detecting my phone. Is it because i swapped Pc's and i never connected it in normal state to my pc ? Or is it cause my charger is derpy and needs to be inserted correctly still. What should i do dudes?
Can you get into download mode, or is it proper hard bricked?

Do you have developer mode activated?
Activate it and set USB to USB debug and try to connect your pc. See if 7 cdc still the same.

If flashing clean rom is an option then do it. Flash the rom that you are actually on. Stock rom. Clean install.
Edit : on your last try you made a mistake of flashing other model rom?

So last night I went to check my phone and it was off so I figured it had gone off on its own but upon trying to turn it on again I found that nothing was working. I plugged it in and got no response. Took out the battery, tried to boot to download mode, or reboot and have tried just about everything to be found online. I left it plugged in all night and nothing. I called samsung and their suggestion was to hold the power button pressed down for a few seconds so after that extremely well thought out suggestion didn't work they said that I'll have to take it in on monday as their service places here are closed during the weekends.
my problem is that I haven't backed up my info and I can't afford to lose it and they said that they will wipe it once they get their hands on it. I don't have a second battery to test but I just plugged it into my computer and it was recognized as a USB device. Nothing more, not what it is and doesn't show up anywhere and nothing has happened on the phone but at least it was recognized.
This is the most messed up issue I have every encountered and it happened entirely on its own. Im all stock and am running purely simple apps like viber and whatsapp and seriesguide and family guy. Its the most mild mannered phone and has the most messed up issue. Its like someone sucked the electricity from it. Please give me some ideas
