anyone know how to downgrade from kitkat to jellybean?
kitkat is bull****. no notification light, now screen doesn't even light up when I recieve a text.
thanks.
1. Open flashtool
2. Flash jelly bean firmware
flashtool is a rar. do I use it on PC?
Flashtool is a program for Windows. You can download it from here: http://www.flashtool.net/index.php
You can find jelly bean firmwares (ftf) in the sticky thread in General section.

If you download the latest version it's an executable so you don't need to decompress it with winrar.
Download Jellybean ftf's from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2631291
I've got kitkat myself and I have to say it works 100%, I have no bugs whatsoever, battery life excellent. I wiped my phone completely before upgrading to KitKat maybe that's the difference between bugs and no bugs.

Since kitkat, my notification light stopped working, and now my screen does not light up when I receive a message... bullcrap.
I downloaded emma flashtool, and signed up, but no authentication email yet (hours ago) and you can't use it without that.

My one still works and my screen does light up when I receive a message. If you're going to downgrade you might as well reset your phone. I'm sure that'll solve your problems.
Of course it's up to you.

How do I reset my phone?
Does this wipe photos/contacts etc?
Is there a deafults option?
Thanks.

Yeah it will wipe absolutely everything. But so will a downgrade to Jelly Bean.
Files on your SD card will remain but I would take it out before you reset it just in case.
Contacts should be sync'd to your google account?
The only thing I've needed to do after a hard reset is download my apps again. You can backup your SMS and Call log using an app on the playstore called Super Backup.
To do a hard reset:
Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.
A factory reset will just wipe all data on the ROM you're on. If you're on Kitkat and you do a factory reset you will remain on KitKat but all data will be removed (apart from factory data/apps). If you're on JellyBean and you do a factory reset you will remain on JellyBean but all user data will be wiped (factory data/apps will remain).

Will the update through the lg mobile tool wipe everything ( apps etc ) ? Is it recommended to do a factory reset after the upgrade?
Thanks.

Yes, it will erase everything. I'm guessing a factory reset wouldn't be necessary since I think it starts you with a clean slate to begin with after installing it, but if you prefer to do it, it wouldn't hurt I suppose.
LG Update tool
LG Update Tool or whatever you call it. I used it yesterday for update from official first update (vj10?) to official ICS. It leaved all contacts, messages and WiFi access codes intact.
Everything as it is described on LG page (remove spaces, add www in front)
lg . com/us/ NitroHD-Upgrade
1. Install driver
2. reboot
3. install Tool
4-and-5. connect phone and run tool
In ~25 minutes I've got ICS installed.
The only issue I have is the battery life. My usage mode is "Mostly idle" and battery lasts 1 day +. Now it is running out 10% per hour. Not sure what is the problem.
There is my issue, I cannot get the tool to see my phone is connected? Where in CM9 do I activate the "PC Software" mode or have the USB connection menu come up?
In my case (Stock ROM) that was in phone's Settings -> Connectivity -> USB settings then it was a menu { Mass Storage, Charge only, PC Software, MTP something } and "Always Ask" (I'm Paranoid ). I'm not familiar with CM, so check other threads. May be it's easier to get stock ROM first.

No, it won't erase everything. just start LG Update tool & connect your phone and start updating. after everything is done you will see your installed apps are still there even call log sms everything remains there.

Fail on LG's part. In that case, I'd suggest that everyone who installs this ROM perform a factory reset after installing it.

Not a fail at all... It backs up your info before doing the update.
Personally, I find this to be a huge win. I find it very cumbersome and annoying to have to go through and download my apps and customize the settings.
Way to go LG!

No, it doesn't back anything up. It's just means it's not clearing your data partition at all during the update. It's the same as not doing "facory reset/wipe data" from CWM before installing a ROM.
The problem is that can lead to all kinds of weird problems once you're in the new ROM. It's probably why some people report bad battery life and others don't, etc.

I would suggest that you do a factory reset and see if the battery life improves after doing that. You'll have to set up the phone again though. Make sure your contacts are either stored to SIM or Google so that you don't lose them, etc.
If you don't know, you need to turn the phone completely off, then hold down volume down and power button at the same time -- keep holding until the text appears that asks if you want to factory reset. Then let go and follow the instructions.
There shouldn't be any reason to install the update a second time.

Thanks for your useful point about factory reset. i did factory reset and downloaded about 30 apps which i installed earlier. now i will notice battery life. i will confirm it after using a day.
Does anyone know if this update could apply to P936? I'm currently on CM9-RC2 for P930...
Thanks in advance, cheers!

I attempted to restore my fiance's S3 to full factory stock about a month ago now, after I received a prompt for the ~82MB OTA update, and she didn't... She was tired of me taking her phone and keeping it out of her hot little hands whilst I made nandroids and flashed the latest updates to BlazerROM, and she didn't have a problem with stock ROM, so I figured I'd put it back for her.
Well, I did, and I KNOW I left CWRecovery in, and not sure if I left root or not, but she STILL has not received the OTA update which still bugs me... So I need to know what is the BEST method for FULL STOCK RECOVERY? I don't want her missing out when the Jelly Bean official drops, and I may flash mine back when it hits just to test it out...
I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1935973
Which directed me to QBKing's site, but also warned that the video was now somewhat dated...
Am I assume that by saving her text messages and contacts, and flashing the ODIN .tar listed on this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919919 and just letting her re-install her apps, is an effective way to return to FULL and UNMODIFIED stock? Should I run Triangle-Away before proceeding? Will this return the device status to Unmodified (or whatever it says) as opposed to "Custom" in the Status page, as it currently shows for her, in case of warranty needs?
Sorry to be "That Guy", but some of the other topics where a bit vague and lacked details, so I figure if we can get something Semi-Detailed and answering most of the big/general questions, perhaps this could serve as a Go-To thread for others who wish to do this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099
Thread youve mentioned above also works fine. If using odin method, run triangle away beforehand. Neither method will wipe data. Depending on the rom you're coming from, it may not be necessary. If you flash without wiping and the rom fails to boot(hangs on glowing samsung logo), go back to recovery and factory reset. Itll boot right up

i cant thumbs-up you hard enough.... thanks for that awesome pile of resources
JUST TO CLARIFY!
On your thread you updated just this morning with the flash-counter reset included, just run in CWR, and all is good, if not, then factory reset, and all is good? Or factory reset, reflash, all is good?
EDIT: FLashed
In download mode;
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SPH-L710
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (not sure what that one is haven't done more than root with oden and flash)
System status troubles me... ODEN flash, or let it full reboot? I went into download to check before first initial boot after flash. will allow full boot and see what happens...
EDIT 2: Well, android system status shows Normal... Girl woke up and took her phone back, so will check oden later.
Yup the one updated today is just that. Flash and reboot. Youll be 100% stock
The system status in odin will probably fix itself after booting. If not a factory reset should do it

Whoever I need to tell, I support sticky'ing the thread.
I have a T-Mobile Note 3, all stock, not rooted. I recently installed the lollipop update, and now my screen rotation stops working.
A reboot fixes it, but it will stop working again later in the day.
I have auto rotate on, smart rotate is not on, auto brightness is on (a search said this worked but it was for an older firmware).
Has anyone seen this or possibly know a good fix?
Wow, nobody else has seen this?

hello
i had a few issues when i upgraded from 4.4.2 to 5.0 stock lollipop... first of all check if the baseband shows same as the build name.. it should both finish in OB6 ....also try booting the phone in safe mode to see if its and app/tweak error... u could also try a factory reset or a full factory reset from recovery screen with a full wipe and cache and dalvik cache erased but i dont know if its possible in stock android recovery since first thing i do when i unbox the phone is to root... always running rooted and with custom recoveries since i like to mod and tweak my phone i suggest you to try to root and release your phone full potential hope this works for you.

Reinstalling the lollipop firmware may correct it.
Odin, Kies or whatever method you used, try a reinstall.

I just went to Settings, General, About Device, Check for Updates and installed it from there. When I go there now it says the device is up to date, so no way to do it the same way as the first time.
Tostido has a full firmware zip available, you can download extract and reflash using Odin 3.09.
Find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59257327
This will reinstall the latest update and should correct rotation problem.

Funny thing is my wife has the same issue on hers. I guess we'll both have to reflash.
Is there a way to flash that toastido version without losing everything? I have a bunch of apps installed, pictures, memos to myself, etc.

sure there is... i suggest you to root your device... its very easy and means no harm unless you start playing with system stuff but basically it just unleash your phone full power.... and once you rooted you just install titanium backup which is the best back up ever (in my opinion) and u do a full system data/user data back up which it will save ALL phone and apps settings and data and you just save the titanium back up folder to your pc and then put it back once you done flashing... also be careful once u flash and you are reverting the back up since the error might be a misconfiguration somewhere... but u can choose manually which stuff u wanna restore like accounts messages phone call history and more... also remember to root back again and installing a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM so i can flash stuff and back up and get a better recovery experience and also u could flash the SD card write fix since on newer versions phone wont let you write data directly to a SD card.... hope it helps at all and good luck

Help ! I own an LG G3 and randomly had a problem with the stock messaging app as it was failing and crashing, so then I decided to reboot my phone but as it rebooted, it was still the same except it had a stock background, no knock code, and my home + recent apps buttons do not function at all but show touch feedback... also when I long press my recent apps button it brings up the settings tab which it should do, which is odd, also my return/back button still works fine. I switched my background to my original one and enabled knock code again, then tried rebooting, hot booting, and powering off and on the phone but nothing worked it even reset my background again to stock and disabled my knock code. I can answer any questions other questions, Any help would be appreciated, Thank You !
Edit: Notifications do not show and the stock camera shortcut ( Hold volume down ) stopped working.
I'd probably try a factory reset if you haven't already. Also list your current software version and carrier info., which might be helpful to us in helping you.

Well, if you are rooted, you might try going into your custom recovery and wiping cache and dalvik-cache.
Since you suspect the messaging app, maybe wipe the data for that one as well? You'd lose all your messages, of course.

I don't have a custom recovery, whoops. The messaging app was fixed after the first reboot, which is when my phone booted that all the other problems occurred. Thinking of just backing everything up and factory resetting, although I wonder if I back up my phone and reset it then load my back up would the problem persist ? as maybe it stems off the soft/firmware, feel like this is the problem since the buttons show touch feedback but do not work.

Glad you seem to have it resolved.
BTW, a couple of notes and suggestions on best practices:
1. If you root and intend in any way on using the elevated permissions to modify your system, you should install a custom recovery, such as TWRP. This will allow you to backup your entire system at any time and restore in the event of an oooops! event.
2. If/when you have a custom recovery:
NEVER accept an OTA (over the air) update. It will bork your phone.
NEVER perform a factory reset from a stock ROM. It will bork your phone.
Hello,
After upgrading to Android 10 yesterday, I notice in whatsapp, and I believe also for regular calls, when people call me it seems to decline almost immediately to them to where they will have to call multiple times until I call them back, or I just have to call them back.
It does not ring until I answer.
Is anyone else having this issue? Any ideas on a solution?
How did you update to 10?
Did you take the OTA update?
Did you flash the OTA package?
Did you flash the full factory images?
If you flashed the full factory images, did you do a clean install or did you "dirty flash" without wiping?
You might want to try a factory reset if you haven't done so yet.
I have a similar problem. I took the OTA update last night and I have verizon. I can't hear anything when I receive calls and it doesn't ring for the caller. Can someone please link me to the downgrade instructions for the final release? All I can find is "opt-out" downgrade instructions for the beta which doesn't work.

To downgrade, you'll need to:
Factory reset
Unlock your bootloader
Flash the previous factory images with fastboot
But a factory reset might fix it for you. Since you will have to do this anyway to downgrade, you might as well give it a shot and see if it fixes your issue. If the issue persists, then proceed with the downgrade.

Hi,
I upgraded by flashing the new firmware from here:
https://developers.google.com/android/images
. My concern about a factory reset is I don't think root works fully yet, meaning I possibly won't be able to use titanium backup?
I read yesterday that it was related to the My Verizon app. Try uninstalling that and see if it fixes it.
See here: https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/13584442?msgid=13602297
Thanks. I don't have that app, and the issue is more with whatsapp incoming calls.

Ah. Yeah, that's why I haven't chosen to upgrade to 10, I want to wait until it looks like root is working like it should.
So you manually flashed the images without wiping?
