Alright, so I'm using a Nexus 7 with a stock ROM and i'm looking for some way to change that boring white color that they use for the battery icon and WiFi icon and pretty much every other icon. Does anyone know any basic themes that either:
1. Make the whole nexus more colorful and bright
||
2. Turn the basic white color to green
I've searched for a while and found a couple of them that were incompatible with my Nexus. After that, I found a couple of ROM's, although I'm wondering if you can just change the theme without changing ROM.
To change the status bar icons, you can look into XPosed Framework, and install the GravityBox module as well.
To change the keyboard color, you can try alternate keyboards.
To change the color of the elements throughout the home screen, try using a custom launcher that supports themes, icons, and colors.

OK. I understand most of that, I'm just wondering what exactly the custom launcher is. Is it like a new version of boot loader that launches the device differently or something?
You seem to be thinking too much about the word "launcher." It is simply a change of the default homescreen that you see when you unlock your phone.
In the Play Store, here are a few names that you can search for:
Nova Launcher
Go Launcher
Apex Launcher
MIUI Home
Lucid Launcher
You can also search for icon packs for your launcher, and it will change some of the default icons, depending on the pack.

You may be thinking of a custom theme. You have to use CM or AOKP as they have theme engines.

Or you can use HKThemeManager from Xposed. It doesn't work as nicely as CM theme engine, but it gets the job done.

Hey guys. I have been on CM7 for a while now but have never used or even looked at the Theme Engine before. I was hoping that you guys could answer a few basic questions about it:
1. Are these THEMES also launchers as well? Currently I am using CM7 with GoLauncher. If I install a Theme will it replace Go Launcher as the default launcher or will it theme Go Launcher?
2. Is there a massive thread that has a list of all the CM7 Themes? I have only been able to find individual theme threads (MattedBlues, etc.)
3. I like custom icons but I hate when I have apps that aren't supported...they stick out like a sore thumb on the desktop. Is that the issue with the THEME ENGINE themes or do they alter the default icons on their own?
Thanks in advance!
1)the themes dont overwrite your launcher, use what you prefer.
2)I believe there is a thread somewhere with all themes try google, there is also alot of them on the market.
3)some themes do have custom icons, depends on what the theme creator included.
Here's a list of some themes.you want HDPI for the evo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046108

Thanks a lot for your input guys! I tried a few out. The only thing I'm not liking is when there are custom icons. More than likely they don't have customized icons for ALL the apps you want to display on your desktop. Then you either have to have ugly mismatching icons or remove the unsupported icons from your desktop altogether.
Can any of you guys advise on a THEME that themes all your existing icons?

Thank you Fergie....that is the exact idea I was looking for. Do you know if there is a black theme that has a similar effect (making all of your icons have a dark/black tint? I already tried DarkGinger. but it only has customized icons...and not very many of them.
Hi anyone know of a way to change all the status bar to white in slim I can change the clock to white but still signal and wifi data etc still blue.

Try a kanged ROM, they usually have features, like that...
If there is nothing else, that features that sort of mod, then download Jack Pham, he had that stuff built in, but he also distributes pirated software... :/
You could prob compile your own rom with it white. But welcome to screen burn in city. That's why Google changed it to black.
Thanks for the replays its just the icons to change I'll look into that jack pham you mentioned. As for compliling wouldn't know where to begin lol. Any dummies guides?

The icons are already white, you just have to reduce the transparency (available in AOKP)

Do you even know what kanged means? Slim is basically a kang of AOKP.
AFAIK there are NO roms that allow you to change the signal color, or the battery color, without a theme.
Hmm..shame I'm not looking to theme just the icons hopefully the kitchen will support ics soon

If you want the whole statusbar in white, you can try a few themes if you have AOKP or a rom with theme chooser support.
Syk Sky is a predominantly white theme for AOKP.
Frost is a paid theme in the market but I think it is the best white theme out there so far. It has a white statusbar with black icons if that suits your fancy.
Ghost is a combo AOKP flashable.zip + theme chooser theme for those that want something more complete.
Sorry, I was thinking the nav bar when i have my earlier response...
If you want to switch icons, i would recommend finding a battery circle mod and switching the icons out in the mod before flashing it - I use CirclesMod by Hooolm

They also changed it to black, because they wanted Android to look sleek, and modern ^^
Hey guys,
Back when I still had a Motorola Triumph, I was able to flash a mod that made the notification, apps menu and other menus white (or light or whatever) instead of the usual black coloration. Is there anything like this for the nexus 4 yet? If so could it be flashed as a mod or would I have to install a custom ROM first? If there isn't I'd like to request one... Once I find the screenshots of my old phone (I know they're around somewhere) I'll upload them for reference.
AW: White System UI/Notifications
Install miui, you will probably like it. It has a light theme and runs ultra fluid
Problem :miui isn't available yet.
What you could do is install PA/AOKP/CM and install a light theme

Using a ROM with Theme Chooser, install chromium theme. It makes the many of the menus white.
I'm using cm 10.1 and have also been trying to find a white UI theme. Not really a fan of the miui style. I like the vanilla android ui but would like to try it with a white holo look instead of the all black.

Not a bad theme. Small issues here and there, but otherwise very good. May be perfect for you.
I'm going to give it a try. Not a fan of the notification icons, desktop icons, or soft key themes but I suppose those can modded.
Hey guys.
I searched around and haven't been able to find anything , but I'm running MOAR 5.01 and I was wondering if anyone could possibly make a MIUI morphology theme.
And please don't suggest installing MiHome etc, I want a theme to make all of touchwiz to look at least somewhat like MIUI.
It would be GREATLY appreciated,
Thanks.

By all of Touchwiz, I'm guessing just system apps with icons and layouts?

You're gonna have to go to AOSP. It is SOOOO much easier to get themes for AOSP and just change themes on the fly with Theme Chooser. This is why I just stayed on AOSP, too much work flashing zips here and there, corrupting system files and bootloops etc....
I have an MIUI theme on my phone now and it looks just about identical. Touchwiz is just a pain in the ass to work with and mod.

Setting menus would be difficult and toggles would be near impossible if you're trying to get
the two page setup and not running 4.2. The custom layouts of the system apps would be ridiculous.

Universal solution: Unicon/icon themer + play store miui theme
Are there any devs or someone smarter than me, that could theme the top notification bar and bottom navigation bar to be semi transparent/fully transparent like how it is on the homescreen w kitkat, so when im in an app it could still be transparent instead of big black bars?
I'm a newb when it comes to editing ui files etc, thanks for the help.

I think when you update to 4.4.2 Google gave all the devices the transparency on both the nav bar and notification bar. Its even on the lockscreen too. If you open up some app they take advantage of it. Some apps don't such as fb. I think its up to the developers to update their apps. So I'm not convinced you need to modify your frameworks or anything like that its all enabled bone stock =]

yeah im just wondering, if its possible to modify the files to make it to where even if an app hasn't, the black will still be semi transparent, b/c im sure there will be plenty of developers who choose to not bother adding it

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I tried this before on aokp jellybean, its ugly because the transparency isnt within the apps (just like iOS) but the homescreen you can see your wallpaper while inside an app lol i guess it all depends on the app if it wants you to use full emersion :/

Use gravity box module with xposed
Only nexus 5 has transparent bar, nexus 4 update to 4.4.2 cannot install latest android home launcher.
You mean like this?

Just went thru an rooted installed this mod, literally does everything, except transparency lol Thanks tho for the help/replies guys.
Just use a custom rom with it built in. Custom roms have had transparencies way back in the day. Where do you think Google got the idea?
Xposed does this well. You have to enable transparency AND have a launcher and touchscreen that supports it. If your launcher doesn't support it then it won't work. Gotta have both.
