There are allot of bricks on this device. But this one is kinda hard to figure out. Anyway....Ive flashed some things on my kindle fire before but this time i tried to flash honeycomb meant for the galaxy tab. YES i know it is crazy. But i just like honeycomb better than ICS. So then i rebooted and it didnt work but then i wiped the system and flashed it again. Reboot and it will not boot up or show a charging light. I tried kindle fire unbrick 1.1 and the utility and the kindle fire utility 0.9.3 and tried to boot into recovery. DID NOT WORK. PLEASE HELP!

Well if your PC regonizes it try reinstalling TWRP.. then boot into recovery and flash a new Rom...

Not even KFU? Try reinstalling your drivers.. if that does not work I cannot help you..

the drivers will install but kfu will not recognize it
Kindle fire Utility should work even without being recognized (well it did for me after turning on and off 3 times).
Does the device at least get's the firefirefire logo? If so, this is what I did
-Turn your kindle off by holding the power button down for at most 20 seconds.
-Plug kindle into your computer
-Run the unbrick utility
-Turn kindle on
-Wait for the Caution Sign with the fire logo (firefirefire logo)
-Choose first option on utility (Recovery Loop)
-Wait... (a max of 10 minutes)
This should work, if not, try to turn off your kindle on and off, and then try again.

Well, if that doesn't work, I know there's someone is working on "factory cables" which (I think) should fix this problems.

if adb is not working you still may have fastboot.
try powering kf off type "fastboot devices" into a command line. (open prompt in folder where you have fastboot installed on pc) it should say waiting for device.
then plugin kf to usb cable and power on if you've got fastboot it's easy, if you haven't it's a factory cable or a door wedge

Factory in the sense that the cable used is one in the same as the cable used in initially programming the device at the manufacturer, not in the sense that it is an OEM cable that came with a phone.

Hi everyone, yesterday i tried to flash the J.B.4.2.1 but i've got problem wth md5. after i've rebooted but the kindle was in a bootloop with his logo, after the video came black and the power button green. Now i can't do anything. Anyone know what to do?

The exact same thing happened to me, I ended up having to make a fastboot cable and use bodi524's restore utility. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035047. I highly recommend either buying a fastboot cable or make one. It took me all of 30 minutes to make one. I used a breakout board from sparkfun.com, which I think is a little easier in my opinion.

I agree, i have seen them on ebay and amazon, but the shipping time is what caused me to make a cable. I didn't want to wait.
Ok, but now there's another problem. The factory cable, on amazon and with Skorpn isn't shipped in Italy.
i tried to found something on google, but i haven't find anything. I can't do it at home, or probably i'll brick KF forevere
any suggestions?

Im sure Skorpn ships all over the world, fast. Pm him and ask for a price. I've seen several people say they've damaged the usb port by incorrectly making the cable, so read twice do once.

What are the steps that you used to restore your Kindle? I'm kinda new to the Kindle Fire 2. I have the fastboot cable and the utility downloaded but that thread doesn't give instructions on how to do it. Can you please help me out?

My Kindle fire 2 is stuck in the initial boot logo. It just restarts and stays there. When I connect my device with the fastboot cable to my computer it enters fastboot. My question is, with this recovery, what are the necessary steps I need to take to restore my device? Do I need to type in some code or just plug and it will be done automatically?

So I have read and re-read the FAQ and I have come to the conclusion that I should do what it says in question 11. To do that with this utility I just connect my device to my computer using the fastboot cable and just enter the command below? I'm assuming that the utility already has a flashable image.

Good. Now, we're getting somewhere.
As long as you have access to fastboot, the SRT tool from that link should restore your KF2. Just run the "SR Tool.bat" from it's location and you should be ok.

I have something similar. The Kindle Fire 2 is in an infinite loop of the white and orange kindle fire logo. No ADB, no fastboot, isn't even recognized by my computer 100% at all. Please help...
Hi. So the other day I installed TWRP on my Kindle Fire successfully. The KF was at 10.2.6, I'm not sure if that means it's a Kindle Fire 2 or not. Anyways, when I went to flash FFF, I stupidly flashed the .zip as a bootloader, thus making my Kindle Fire completely unusable. When I press the power button, nothing at all happens. Nothing I do will make the screen turn on or the power button to flash in any way. I've tried using Firekit with usbboot and the shorting trick, but that hasn't worked for me. (I just installed stock Ubuntu to a flash drive with the fk file on root, I'm fairly certain that's all that needed to be done?)
Anyways, my Kindle is unresponsove, and the usbboot trick has yet to work for me. I really want to save this guy. I've heard the KF cannot be completely bricked through software/flashing. I hope it's true! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks fro replying. I'm pretty sure a factory cable only puts it into fastboot if you have a working bootloader. I don't, so I don't think it would work.
I remember an instance where a friend of mine had a broken bootloader, and we used a factory cable to restore it, this was on the kindle fire. we had to first reflash the bootloader. I hope this is possible here.

I think you need a Factory cable to recover.
If you connect the Kindle to the PC and try adb devices in a terminal window, what do you see?
From the software version, you have KF2, as such you need to use the tools and ROMs from the KF2 threads. You could try to use the one click freedom boot and TWRP installer, to see if you can get that on.
From there you would probably have to push one of the 10.1 ROMs on, or the 10.2.6 recovery image, and then start again.
This seems to be happening a lot, and could be avoided if people read a bit more before using the wrong tools.

Howdy. I just fashioned a factory cable, just jumping +5V to pin 4, right? It seems to be doing absolutely nothing. No lights or anything are turning on. The freedom boot just spits out "error: device not found" and hangs on "Pushing Stack". Again, I was under the impression that the factory cable only made it boot in fastboot if you already have a working bootloader. I'll try loading into Ubuntu and see what it says in terminal. Thanks

Leave your Kindle plugged in for an hour using the normal cable, as it may be totally flat.
The attached diagram shows what pins need joining. If you can, make sure none of the other pins are shorting.
Hold the power button for 20 seconds, plug in your fastboot cable, power on the Kindle.
You should see some traffic lights on the screen.
If you can get fastboot enabled, you should be able to push the correct partitions back on using the partitions from the factory restore image, your backup files or from the recovery thread. Hope you get it running.

I tried the fastboot cable out on a working Kindle Fire, and it worked correctly, so I did wire it right. I did as you said, holding the power button down and then plugging in the cable, and nothing happens still on the KF2. I have access to the insides, should I unplug the battery? It should be around 85% charged. Thanks again.
Edit: BIG NEWS~ Not really. When I plug the Kindle Fire with the fastboot cable into Windows, it appears under Device Manager as "Unknown Device" with a yellow triangle, but nothing shows up on the Kindle, no lights or anything. Hmph.

I'm in exactly the same boat as you, also flashed FFF (by accident) on my device. Haven't been able to fix it yet but I do have a factory cable. Also did the USB trick, but that didn't have an effect either.

In my case, I did by accident because it wasn't clear to me which KF generation I had (I've bricked mine just after christmas). These forums were not really clear either, I had a Kindle Fire so I just looked for a KF guide. After I bricked it I found out my device was a second generation Kindle Fire.

Nothing whatsoever.
I can't really send it back to Amazon, because of two reasons:
1) I already opened up the back
2) It was gifted to me from the US, and there is no Dutch Amazon, so I'd have to send the device back to the person who gifted to me, that person has to mail it to Amazon from there, and the replacement device has to come back the same way (via that person). That's not a situation I'd like to put that person in.

shorting trick is not working for me :crying:
Now I'm in an even worse position to further prove my dopeyness. :crying: I installed CM10 and GAPPs in the root of my KF2. Went to do the wipes as instructed and then I couldn't get those files or access my KF2 via ADB or USB and I was stuck in TWRP with no OS. I couldn't do a sideload ADB through TWRP or Terminal Emulator since they couldn't find the device. FYI I successfully installed the drivers by restarting my Win8 computer and going through without signing drivers, but the device still wouldn't show up anywhere.
After that nightmare, I shut my KF2 down to do some work and then when I started it back up again, I was stuck in the dreaded orange Kindle Fire bootloop and I can't get into TWRP, ADB or anything else.
Any thoughts?

Thanks!! I didn't realize. I also could swear that a KF2 thread lead me to KFU. Either way, what's the best method to get TWRP on my KF2. I love Jelly Beans. BTW I was able to install GAPPs with KFU without a problem. I just can't get a recovery on it.

Now I'm in an even worse position to further prove my dopeyness. :crying: I installed CM10 and GAPPs in the root of my KF2. Went to do the wipes as instructed and then I couldn't get those files or access my KF2 via ADB or USB and I was stuck in TWRP with no OS. I couldn't do a sideload ADB through TWRP or Terminal Emulator since they couldn't find the device. FYI I successfully installed the drivers by restarting my Win8 computer and going through without signing drivers, but the device still wouldn't show up anywhere.
After that nightmare, I shut my KF2 down to do some work and then when I started it back up again, I was stuck in the dreaded orange Kindle Fire bootloop and I can't get into TWRP, ADB or anything else.
Any thoughts?

Yes. If you don't have a fastboot cable.. Get one. You'll need it to restore back to stock.

Its a fast boot cable? Dude- you need to read like EVERYTHING in the dev section here. There is a thread on recovery.

And PLEASE.. once you have recovered your device READ everything in the kf2 and kfhd forums. Use the xda app if that's easier, but read it all. I promise it'll help.

Before I do that, is there anything else that can be done without getting the cable? Believe me, I searched and read everything I could find on the problem, but since I can't get into ADB or TWRP due to the lovely bootloop (and no OS), my options look very limited.
The super sad part is my KF2 was working great for around 1/2 hour, but I got greedy and wanted JB.
BTW if it might be my only hope, is there an easy way to disable Android SDK as pointed out in the First Aide thread since uninstalling seems like a pain?

Your only choice left is to get the fastboot cable. No Adb, recovery OR ROM....
Not sure why you need to disable the SDK or what to do, since I've never used it on windows. I just use the files I need (adb and fastboot) and installed the drivers specific to this device. I've only used the SDK on Linux

I rooted my Kindle Fire 2 about a week ago and I was really enjoying it. Today I decided that I wanted to get cyanogen mod on my kindle. I went to a a forum page here on XDA which had a one click thing for TWRP. I downloaded it onto my kindle and started to install it. I allowed it with superuser, but then my screen went black and turned red. Now I'm kind of nervous because I've read that now I need to use a Factory/Fastboot cable to restore it. Is there any other way for me to restore my kindle? I can turn it off by holding the power button for 20 secs, but when I turn it back on the logo flashes for 2 secs and the red screen comes back.. Please help.. I'm kinda upset right now
No. You need a cable. Sorry you are upset but this is clearly stated in the CyanogenMod thread.

Ok, so if I purchase the cable, will that allow me to enter fastboot and fix the problem? Is fastboot somthing that is already on the device.. or is it something that I should of installed on it beforehand? Someone told me that all I need is the Factory Cable and I can work from there. Is that true?

I'm sorry, I know im asking dumb questions; honestly I'm new to this and I just need some help and I do appreciate the help you are providing. I have read the link you posted, but I have one more question. When I plug in the Factory Cable is fastboot something that is already on the device? I dont think I installed fastboot on my device (if it can even be installed) But I know for a fact that my KF2 is rooted. I know this is a dumb question, but the only way for me to find out is if I ask. Thanks.

i just fixed mine it had a red screen I tried everything....but what worked was the kindle fire first aide...YAY!!!!!
i flashed to 10.2.3 and and rooted it's all good....but you gotta use a fastboot cable...SWEET!!!!

Okay you need factory cable it's really the fastboot cable..got mine from ebay bout $5...download kindle fire first aide...
download and install sdk manager((google it).....plug your kindle to your computer....(with the fastboot cable your screen on the kindle should say fastboot)open the kindle fire first aide and run the RunMe.bat file...choose restore image and run the program....the program also lets you root your device again.....Hope I helped you

Do I have to have my own system image backup? I wasn't able to "adb pull" before all of this because it wouldn't give me r/w permissions due to something called a protective shell or something?

It helps but you can use Kindle Fire FirstAid and a factory fastboot cord and restore to factory. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888 You can make a fastboot cord or buy one for 10 bucks, up to you.
He did a good job describing everything.
If you want to try getting custom recovery again, root your Kindle Fire using Bin4ry's method. Use the new method (No Xperia stuff - You'll know when u use it). And use Kindle Fire First Aid and disable OTA updates. Download TweezerMod Installer (Google it) and follow instructions. You will be as amazed, excited, and happy as at first when you recovered your kindle.

cam you help me to unbrick my kindle fire in red screen with kindle fire first aid please
I have installed 22 different driver packages. None work. My PC connects to all my phones so I don't think the problem is there. USB port 2.0. Brand new factory cable (gets fast boot) canyon have the driver pack that works? I can believe how many bs file I have downloaded.
Also, yes, I uninstalled each one after failure an deleted all associated files. Please help before my wife shoots me!!

Turns out thing work better when you actually know what you are doing. But at leas I gained some knowledge. probably had the right drivers for a day and a half. Smh
