I received OTA update from HTC (1.54.708.5, ~170Mb) and of course it won't install by itself with TWRP installed.
I just wounder if it is possible to flash it manually from TWRP?
The update should have already downloaded somewhere in my phone, where can I find this 170mb update out and flash it manually from TWRP? Thank you very much.
I got tired of waiting for someone to release the update so I just reinstalled the stock recovery, received the OTA, the reinstalled TWRP. This update didn't kill root so that was all it took to get it.

Is it true you can't install OTA updates with a CWM recovery? I received an OTA update notification today about 14mb (no, it's not JB, it's a small update 2 weeks after JB OTA update) and my ONE X has the bootloader unlocked and CWM latest version. It didn't install, i received an error, something about "Status 7". I finally found a thread about this and it seemed i had to flash stock recovery back and what do you know, it worked.
Yes, you need the stock recovery for an OTA update to work.

No. OTA updates require stock recovery. However, you can revert to stock recovery and unroot as you please. Also, you can flash OTA updates through TWRP once a flashable zip is made, except you have to download it and flash it manually, just like installing a custom ROM. Cheers.

I received the last update through OTA on a rooted Stock ROM with TWRP installed.
After the install was finished TWRP asked if I wanted to restore the root. All went smoothly.
To clarify.. I did not flash the ROM. I used the normal OTA update.

I believe you can on small point updates. The full update from 4.3 to 4.4 most likely won't work with a custom recovery.

you must have stock /system folder + stock recovery
you can be rooted, by if you delete some files in /system - you break your ota
new ota will be with new radio too
after ota super-su apk will be removed by the ota
---------------
i restored /system apps from sdcard before 4.3 ota and migrate very well from 4.2.2
The ota 4.3 update removed my root and Twrp. Hope 4.4 doesn't do the same. It's always a pain for me to restore root with my Windows 7 laptop. It keeps installing the wrong usb drivers which get in the way of the wugfresh toolkit access to the nexus 7. So it's no easy task for me.
I've rooted, installed TWRP, installed custom kernel but otherwise on stock KitKat. I just received an OTA update notice. Tried updating it and got stuck at TWRP, installed the stuck fix and it boots back into the rom fine.
How can I install the OTA update? Or get the latest stock rom to be installable via recovery?
If we update to marshmallow will she loose root. It's an OTA update
As far as I know if you try to do OTA update with rooted phone it won't work. You may need to flash the update in TWRP and re-root

Your phone will stuck at boot screen. It is possible that recovery won't work and you will only have the choice to flash a kd or tot file to get phone working again.. So before getting update first do unroot....
Oops, I mean OTA.
Anyone have a zip file to use with FlashFire to get the latest firmware installed. Currently on the next to last update, but think that is causing me issues getting 7.1 roms installed successfully. Am on stock, of rooted of course, with S-Off, and TWRP. Trying to just update firmware without losing anything.
Trying doing 'check for updates' but it just hangs at 'checking'
