I'm using pattern lock screen and when I set the timeout value to 15 minutes, it works fine I.e. Within 15 minutes if I press the power button to turn the seven off and then back on - then it doesn't prompt me for my pattern.
However, when I set this value to never, it behaves like "immediately" - where I have to enter a pass each time.
PS: I know I can just use swipe or turn the security off but that's not my objective.
Anyone know of how to get this to work?

My screen atomatically times out and locks after 15 seconds. I have changed the settings in the Settings menu but it keeps defaulting back to 15 seconds. Is anyone else having this problem and know how to fix it?
You should be able to change timeout in settings. Go to found and display, then scroll down to display settings and set the time you want.

I'm trying to use the music controls on the lockscreen, and sometimes I want to hear more than 3-5 seconds of a song before skipping to the next one. Problem is, in those 3-5 seconds the screen turns off again.
Why not use volume buttons to change songs? But there is an option in cyanogen settings/ lock screen/ delay and timeout.

Because I'd like to change the volume with the volume keys.
Despite the name/descriptions of those settings that you are suggesting, neither of those two settings do what I'm asking.
Screen Timeout Delay - This only applies when the screen is both On AND already Unlocked.
Screen Turned Off Delay - This only applies after the screen has been turned off, whether manually or automatically. Then it starts to countdown, when the countdown reaches 0, the next time that you wake your phone, it will be locked.

You can still change the volume. To change the track you hold down. Its that simple

Thanks, did not know that. I guess I have no other choice than to go that route then.
You can use a custom timeout with "widget locker". Keep in mind, is a replacement for the lockscreen however.
I don't have music controls on mine, but it is handy to access emails or check sms with a single tap.
My lock screen resembles a home screen more than a lock screen. However, I find having quick access to the things i use most with the least amount of taps to be invaluable.

So I've flashed the leaked stock Gingerbread sense rom, and it ran awesome and smooth...but I noticed between HTC sense and CM7 the lock screen for Sense was better.
On sense I can set a time to enable password on lock screen after a certain time period (10mins for example). So if you lock the screen and 3 mins later turn the screen back on, you are welcomed with the slide to unlock screen. However, on CM7 it does not do this. You can tell it to require a password after 10mins, but when you lock the screen and come back in 3mins it goes right to the homescreen. Is there a way to change this so you are always greeted by the slide to unlock screen??? Kinda annoying in my opinion, as when it's sitting in my pocket I've "pocket dialed".
You can set the "screen turned off delay", it sounds like that's maybe what you're talking about?

I've tried that. If, lets say, you set that time to 5mins. when you turn off the display and in 2mins turn it back on to check something, no lockscreen. Goes right to the homescreen. But, if you sleep the phone and in 8mins turn it on to do something, bam, lockscreen

Right, that's how its supposed to work as far as I know. If you set it to 5 mins then it wont lock it until 5 mins after you turn off the screen. I guess I'm not exactly clear on what you're trying to do?

A code patch was required for this feature
I noticed the same thing and discovered that this is an HTC Sense feature and it is not part of AOSP. So, early this month, I submitted patchsets to provide this feature in CM7. They have been reviewed, approved and merged.
This feature is included in CM7 nightlies as of 27 July 2011.
Feature control is in CM Settings -> Lockscreen -> Delay and timeout (surprise!)
There is fine-grained control for all four relevant delays, but selecting "Immediately" for the Slide Lock delays will reproduce the behavior of Froyo Sense. My personal config is:
Screen turned off:
Slide lock delay: 1s
Security lock delay: 5m
Screen timeout:
Slide lock delay: 5m
Security lock delay: 10m
My phone typically only times out if it is sitting next to me on the desk; I always power off the screen if I am going to shove it in my pocket.
Are there any apps that turn the screen off without locking the phone? I was using following app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock) to turn off my screen (so I did not have to reach for the power button) and it was working great until I added a pin to my lock screen.
Once I added a pin to my lock screen the app turns the screen off but instantly locks the phone even though I have a 30 minute delay set under lock screen security. My work email requires a lock screen through device administrator, so there is no way to get around this requirement.
Are their any apps that turn off the screen that simply follow the lock commands under security?
Thanks for the help

Flash ElementalX Kernel or something similar with swipe to sleep or whatever it's called.
You can just swipe the bottom of your screen to turn it off.
Alternatively you could try Tasker app, and add a shortcut to the desktop or make a ask file.

Currently I use PIN+fingerprint setup. I wonder if there is a way I can do this:
I turn off the screen using the power button (or the phone turns off after inactivity).
If I turn on the device in x minutes (or hours) using the power button, then the device shows lock screen. Then I just swipe the screen without having to type PIN.
Unlocking lock screen with fingerprint works well, but sometimes it is not very convenient. I cannot use fingerprint when I wear gloves for example. Of course I do know that under Security, there is an option of "Automatic lock", but this is not what I want because it does not show lockscreen at all for entered duration.
Is there any app that allows me to do this?
You can delay the security lock for up to 30 minutes I think in the settings.

I already mentioned that. Under Security - Automatically lock, I can delay up to 50 minutes. But this disables lockscreen at all -- turning off then turning on using the power button yields NO LOCKSCREEN. It brings me back to the screen I was looking at. This is not I want, I want to delay password input but I want to have lockscreen, which I can swipe away.
No Idea?
Well there seems to be no solution I guess. Too bad.
