Tmobile S3 Wifi not turning on - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hey guys, my S3 this past Friday the Wifi stopped working and I mean it will not allow me to turn it on. When I press the button it starts but does not activate.
I have been looking for a solution for this since Friday and nothing.
I have tried the following:
Restart and nothing
Airplane mode on and off and nothing
Several factory resets and cache wipes and nothing
Reloaded 4.3 thru Kies and nothing
Tried to load 4.1.1 thru Odin 3.07 and it fails which I dont know why
Tried some Wifi fixers from the market and nothing
Im lost now and cant seem to find any other info.

Please Clarify. Do you have 4.3 at present on the Phone ? If so did you get it through Stock update when Samsung Rolled out Earlier this year or did you flash it recently ? Kindly provide as many specifics as possible. Also provide your current Baseband
Before the Wireless Failed to turn on friday, did you flash anything ?

Its the stock 4.3 that downloaded on its own. I have never flashed anything to this phone its stock.

Please Reboot to Recovery and Wipe Caches. If that does not help, do a factory Reset.
If you worry about Applications and Data, then use MyBackupPro

Perseus71, I have done this several times with no luck.

Factory Reset and then try the wireless before restore.

After the factory reset I tried the wifi as soon as the phone boots but wifi wont turn on. is this what you are talking about?

Yes that's what I meant.
Please Re-Flash the Current firmware uvuenc2 via Odin. If you get stuck at boot after the flash, boot to stock recovery then wipe Cache.

So I flashed uvuenc2 again and wiped the Cache again. No help, still no wifi.
This is really getting to be a pain in the ass as my 4g service sucks at the house and rely on wifi.
Also I read last night not to flash 4.1.1 if you already have 4.3 uvuenc2 as it will brick the phone. Is there a way around that?

I suspect hardware issues. Particularly when 4G does work.
There are ways to check for Hardware issues, but wouldn't want to recommend that if Warranty option is open.
Please raise a Warranty Request Or call T-Mo.

Have you tried doing Odin to 4.3 stock?

Try another factory reset since youve reflashed the firmware. Data is still left over from before.
You can also try to see if you see anything going on with logcat. Theres apps that can help with this. Lots of logcat info on xda and elsewhere if you need it.
You cannot flash older firmware, but you can flash older roms. Try flashing a 4.1.2 MD5 based rom. This will trip the warranty bit if that matters.

When that happens to me with stock rom I reinstall the firmware with odin and it always fix it.

I did that before. Press home + volume up + power that will put u in stock recovery, from there you should be able to factory reset wipe data. Before you downgraded from 4.1.2 to 4.1.1 you needed to full wipe because the factory image in Odin will just flash on top
scyr2355 got it...
your device is dirty...as you pushed images on top of each other. and this leaves old data behind.
the boot to stock recovery and a cache wipe with a factory reset should bring the phone back to life.....g
You could have just downgraded the radio and the secret menu is there again with the options to unlock... Hope this works out for you

Home+Vol Up+Power will put you into stock recovery as stated previously. You will need to use odin. Make sure drivers are installed on your computer and use a stock Image. Of course you must reset everything. I bricked my phone in similar fashion when I first started flashing. Now I flash all the time without issue. I recommend TWRP. A simple search will get you all the info you need.

Just spent five hours tonight trying to fix the same problem. I have a couple questions for you.
1. Which version of ODIN are you using. I recommend using the 3.07 version because it officially supports downloading the ATT I-317 firmware to your handset.
2. Are you using an official stock ROM? Or one that has been tampered with, De-OXED and/or injected with a root. If so, I would also recommend using a stock tar.md5 ROM from the Samsung-Updates or SamMobile websites.
On an unrelated note, I'm originally from Warwick
PLEASE HELP!!!
I did the same thing. I tried to downgrade to 4.1.1 to unlock a customers device and now im stuck on the Samsung logo.... Ive never had a problem like this before and like I said this is a customers Note 2 and I really dont have the $$ to replace his device.... I tried to get to stock recovery and It wont go.... it just keeps looping the Note 2 logo.... what can I do.... Im SUPER scared.... ive rooted many many devices but only 1 downgrade and this never happened.... everything passed on Odin?? PLEASE HELP ME??

LOL, I'm a dirty boy. I got caught flashing dirty. After all these (5) years of flashing I forgot to wipe / format.
Even some of the "seasoned," meddlers / flashers have one of those moments where they forget to wipe.

Cant install custom ROMs

I just got the GN3 and naturally, the first thing I did was root it. That took a bit of time because it didn't seem to want to stock. Supersu kept force closing and i would get a pop up saying its been prevented from opening. After a bit i got it though. and used titanium to freeze all the unwanted bloat. but EVERY time i try to install a ROM i get into a boot loop. Ive tried just about every rom that is so far available to us. ive tried removing the battery, wiping cache, and doing system restore. but i just constantly get boot loops. Any thoughts?

.... Odin has never wiped apps . I've been using Odin since the vibrant..
And as for the backup restore.. I wouldn't until its all sorted out. Considering I was the first one in a boot loop. It could just be me scared lol

[Q] Stuck at white AT&T load screen after trying to restore nandroid backup.

So I rooted my SG3, SGH-I747 last night. Took a bit of looking as I recently updated to 4.3 OTA which made the process more difficult than I remember in the past on this phone, but got it done. I then found a ROM to flash, but flash failed. Before flashing, I did take a nandroid backup using TWRP, but after attempting restore with it, on boot up it gets through the samsung logo and then just sits at the AT&T load screen. I have tried to go in and perform factory reset (wiping cache, dalvik and system), but nothing is working. I then downloaded 4.1.1 stock firmware for this device to flash via ODIN but I get a FAIL, and same result, stuck at AT&T screen. Did I brick my phone?????
Please Help!

Do not flash anything from sammobile because you're on AT&T and they don't have the 4.3 files there. You already updated to 4.3 if you do happen to successfully flash something older through Odin you will have a paperweight for a phone.
Try to do a factory reset. And 4.3 takes a really long time to boot after a factory reset or fresh flash. You will think it is stuck just plug it in to the charger and come back in 10 minutes so you can not be impatient. Let it do its thing. When I Say a long time the last time (yesterday) I flashed a Rom (stock by loserskater) it took 4 minutes and 22 seconds to boot(I timed it had nothing better to do after hard bricking the phone for the third time in a week)

Follow up on the issue.
Just so this thread didn't just stop, I wanted to give an update on my situation. Ended up hard tricking my phone and sent it off to get pba replaced. Should be getting it back soon, 70 dollars later.
Just happened
I tried to flash a new mod'd touchwiz launcher and tried to restore from a nandroid backup of dandroid.
After restoring stuck on boot logo.
Tried to wipe and restore again to no avail.
I put the rom back on the sd card and re-flashed and is up and working fine.
You might wanna try this (with your chosen rom).

Do you still have a custom recovery? Check to see if you can still get into it.
If so, clear out devlik cache, and format your partition.
If not, there was another thread about this in Q&A I think.

No need, as this is my condensed way that works every time.
Here is my steps...
Go into SuperSU and have it do a clean removal.
If triangle away is installed, go into triangle away and have it uninstall.
Go into settings and perform a factory reset.
Shut down.
If you have a custom recovery you can have it do a Format Partition, and Clear Devlik Cache to make sure things are wiped, and reboot into factory down loader.
If no custom recovery, start in factory down loader.
Use Odin 3.7 and the ROM posted in this thread.
You will then have a stock Note 8.0... once you boot and go through the settings, you will need to do a factory reset to make it clear everything for the new user to go through once they own it.

Can't Unbrick My T-Mobile Galaxy S4

Hello there, I'm stuck here with what seems to be an unbrickable TMO Galaxy S4. I've tried just aboout everything under the sun and it's still stuck in bootloop. Heres a list of things I've tried and hopefully someone and help me get this thiing up and running soon.
1. Factory Reset, then flash the MDL firmware thru odin. It passed, restarted then finishing installing in the stock recovery. Went to the Samsung Galaxy S4 screen, blacked out then rebooted = FAIL!
2. Install a custom recovery, wiped the entire phone(formatted data, wiped system, data, cache, internal, dalvik cache and did an factory reset. Then flashed Darth Stalker X1. It tried booting the first go then the screen went haywire and the phone got incredibly hot. pulled battery and it booted all the way up and a few hours later back to bootlooping but now that last fix doesn't work anymore. FAIL!
3.Updated to the MK2 firmware, wiped everything again, tried booting. Still bootloop. Installed Custom recovery Wiped everything and tried 2 different roms 1 including the X1 from before. Still Bootloop. FAIL!
4. Now I've updated to the lastest firmware, NB4. Downloaded and flashed NB4 roms like Insane Kit Kat V9 and more. Still the same results. Only time I even got a glimpse at a boot animation is when I flashed a CM based rom but its still bootlooping. FAIL!
I'm so lost on what to do next, I just need some guidance to get me on the right track to success. Please anyone who knows anything help me.

If you can't do it through kies just use Odin. The official nb4 firmware doesn't work but Fenny fixed it. Go to the link provided and download his fixed nb4 full firmware and flash it. Uncheck auto reboot, once done pull the battery and boot in recovery and do a factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik. Post your results. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52924856

Looks like you've done quite a bit to fix this problem, but I'll throw in a few suggestions. May not work, but it won't hurt. Some of this might seem redundant, but who knows; it might help.
First, because KNOX has already been tripped, I'd try to flash a non-TouchWiz ROM via recovery. Once you've flashed CM11 or whatever you choose, I'd grab the charging cable that came with the phone and flash the NB4 firmware via Odin. (The reason for flashing a non-TW ROM then restoring to the factory image is that I've always encountered problems when restoring the stock image from a TW ROM like still having user data intact and other odd stuff. Flashing non-TW guarantees everything is gone.)
If you can't boot from that I'd try to manually update your modem to NB4. I know it should have flashed via Odin you updated to NB4, but I've noticed that sometimes the modem doesn't update when flashing the factory firmware in Odin. I've never updated my bootloader past MDL; just custom recovery and updated modem/baseband) and when using Odin to restore back to MDL, my modem will still say NB4. It wouldn't really cause a problem with MDL bootloader and a newer modem, but I could see how there could be a conflict if you still have the MDL modem and newer bootloader.
Good luck.

Okay I've tried both suggestions and I'm still stuck. It has to be something wrong with my system status or something.. Even after erasing everything possible and flashing the fixed NB4 firmware thru odin it still says custom system status but the binaries says Samsung Official. Any suggestions for this??

Smh nothing is working but I'm starting to think the reason why is because it's not officially SGH-M919 since after flashing every official firmware I found from MDL to NB4 and system status still comes up as custom. I will try and flash the m919n in the morning. Good idea or no?

I didn't realize it wasn't the Sgh-m919! You are correct about flashing the wrong firmware. You first need to figure out which variant your phone is so we can find the correct firmware. My apologies I was under the impression that you had a m919 when you said it was a tmo s4.

Yea that's the thing, I was under the impression it was an m919 as well that's why I posted the pics. When I initially got the phone it had m919 when booting and in the download mode. But after all those testing I'm now assuming that the previous owner change it somehow to show m919 instead of what it really could be. So the question now is what variant this is or how to figure out what it is?

Take the battery cover off and you will see the groove where you are supposed to stick your finger to pry the battery. Look just below it and you will see some numbers. Mine say GM919. What does yours say?

Usually when you have a clone none Samsung phone all these things would be missing. I'm just going 1 by 1. I think you may have a different carrier phone. But which one!!?

This may be a little easier. I found a site with ask identifying marks for all S4 variants. Take a look and see which one you have. Then we can go from there.
