TWRP will not flash roms. - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

I have been going crazy for about a month trying to flash cm 10.1.3 on my kindle fire 2. First i rooted the kindle then i followed the steps here to get twrp. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963 Since then i was not able to flash any roms or even go back to stock. I have tried KFfirstaid, http://n2aos.com/ recovery but I just get kindle error message. I reflash twrp and back to where i am now. I have twrp 2.6.3.1. If anyone could help that would be great.

That error basically means that rom is incompatible with your device. I recommend grabbing a copy of cm11 not cm 10.1 and flashing it, it has way more bug fixes and improvements than the old cm 10.1 builds.

I tried slim rom and cm11 same issue flashing both. I was able to get back to stock think im going to wait a bit before i root and flash again.

You sure you are on a kindle fire 2 then? You can always go into fastboot and query "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product" and it will tell you the model's codename. Or just look for it in the build.prop on the system partition.

kindle fire in boot loop. Howto for restoring with fastboot?

I wanted to get 4.2.2 on my fire2, so I went throught the tutorials to root and install twrp recovery which worked great. I downloaded the CM10.1 sgt7 and gapps for the fire 2 in the dev section and proceeded to reboot into recovery. I wiped the system and flashed the rom and gaps, wiped cache/dalvik and hit reboot.
dreaded kindle fire boot loop. The only thing I can think is that the rom DL was corrupted. It really didn't take long to complete the flash in twrp, probably less than 10 seconds. I really should have checked the md5.
OK, so I get a fastboot cable online and it shows up today. I can't seem to locate a tutorial of how to restore with fastboot though... can someone point me to a link?
Thanks,
-J

Can you get into recovery?
Always factory reset when flashing a ROM that is completely different from the one already installed, or you will run into a bootloop.
I was able to get it back. Been running 422 for a few months. I had a bad Roman do from what I can tell. I was not able to get to recovery without restoring with a fastboot cable.

[Q] Unable to install CM11 or latest TWRP

I have an Amazon Kindle Fire running FFF 1.4a, TWRP 2.6.0.0 and CM10.
Trying to install the latest CM11 ROM, but when I flash it, the Kindle goes into and endless reboot cycle (It says "Booting" at the bottom, then reboots, and repeats).
So then I tried installing the latest TWRP using the Kindle Fire Utility (also tried with adb) and it appears my Kindle cannot reboot into fastboot mode to allow the upgrade to take place. When the Kindle receives the "reboot into fastboot" command, it reboots, but I just get the TWRP menu with "Normal" and "Recovery" choices.
Luckily I can flash my old ROM and it works fine. ButI would love to upgrade to CM11 if possible.
Is the latest TWRP (2.6.3.1 at the time of this writing) required to install CM11? The post for CM11 states the "latest TWRP" is required.
Thanks!

Yes the latest TWRP is required
Is the latest TWRP requirement also necessary is you're trying to install either of the newer HellFire 4.4.xx roms? I'm on 2.2.2.1, (TWRP), and can't seem to get it to work, just pops up an error every time. I had thought about upgrading TWRP, but had read that there were a lot of problems with it. So if I upgrade to the latest TWRP, should this sole my HellFire problem?
So, for some reason, I cannot get TWRP to update. I tried both GooManager and ROM Installer apps. They both try to install TWRP but are unable to get the device to reboot into fast mode. In fact GooManager claims that TWRP was installed successfully, but then the reboot fails. When I go back into TWRP, it is still the old version.
Any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks!
You need to flash the version that hashcode updated specifically for the Fire. Link below, flash like any other zip.
TWRP 2.6.3.1 by Hashcode
It will still say 2.6.3.0 but it is updated and will work with cm11 ROMs

That did the trick. Thanks!

[Q] [HELP] Stock and TWRP Work, Flashing Rom Doesn't

I went to flash my father-in-law and mother-in-law's kindles to Cyanogenmod a couple days ago and have run into nothing but issues with the one. They both are identical Kindle Fire HD 8.9" tablets, bought around the same time. I downgraded both to a rootable version, then flashed 2nd Bootloader and TWRP. On the one it flashed fine, and I could flash a rom from TWRP and I'm a happy camper.
On the other, I've had issues. I can flash the 2nd Bootloader and TWRP but from TWRP I can't get any ROM to boot. I've tried flashing back to stock (which I can do successfully and stock runs fine). There's no errors occured when trying to flash the rom (tried a dozen or more versions of PacMan, Cyanogenmod, and the Amazon Stock one for TWRP). However, it never can make it past the Kindle Fire (in blue) screen. I've verified MD5 on every file flashed (both on device and on PC) and I've tried different cables and such.
Anyone have any ideas/tips?
Did you factory reset in twrp before flashing cm?

how to return back to stock rom and get rid of the 2nd bootloader

Hi I installed CM10 for my kindle fire HD 8.9 some time ago by using TWRP 2.6.0.0. Do not think I kept the stock recovery at that time.
A few days I decided to update CM10 and chose one update CM11 rom shown in the setting
It is at that time I got into trouble of bootloop. The tablet continue to boot into TWRP 2.6.0.0
Then I managed to download CM11 or CM12 onto my PC and adb push them to the tablet and tried to install them in TWRP 2.6.0.0, but both failed
then i downloaded an amazon stock rom version 8.4.6 and adb push it to the tablet and this time it installed.
But apparently the stock rom is installed on the 2nd bootloader --- i saw the orange "kindle fire" sign first, then the blue one, and then the orange one again before amazon stock rom come up.
Now my question is that is there any way for me to get back to the original stock rom and get rid of the 2nd bootloader totally?
Just want to have a total fresh start and install CM11 or CM12 on this tablet.
thanks a lot.
hi this issue has been resolved. the solution is to update twrp from 2.6.0.0 to 2.8.70 and then the CM11 or CM12 will be installed.
