I have a rooted Galaxy nexus running xenonHD-10-13-12. I re-rooted it a couple weeks ago because the phone randomly started moving from whatever volume phone setting I set it to, to vibrate. It started doing this again, and I have no idea which app must be doing this. Any suggestions?
I am assuming it must be a "feature" of one of my apps. Any advise would be welcomed.
Thanks,
Randy
What audio/sound manager apps do you have installed? With Audio Manager Pro I hold down on a profile to select a schedule for it, did you by chance do something similar?

I love both Callend and lightflow. I did uninstalled avast, so we'll see. I though of lightflow, but can't find any setting that could be related.
I was thinking a look through the settings to see what you could find, opposed to just deleting the app. I know Avast is a popular app for phone security, I was trying to think of what apps on your list may have an option for scheduling sound profiles, that's why I mentioned it. You shouldn't have to delete it and go without.
OK I may be in left field with this one.....
but......some ROMs allow a user to create a "user profile" that allows you to customize your device. This feature is there to allow to to switch profiles if say.... you allow you friends or children to use your device. I can't remember which ROM I was on, but it would always vibe no matter what I set it too. I deleted the profile and poof....all was normal after that.
The setting was under menu options and labeled "profile".
Hope this helps...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
That's a good idea, I didn't even think about the "profiles" built into CM and other ROMs.

well I don't see any thing that says "profiles" or even remotely sounds like it would be related to that. Also, I had the same issue before I changed roms... which is what led me to change roms.

Its all a personal choice , here are mine :
1. Titanium Backup Pro - Backup app
2. Terminal Emulator - running your Linux command like EFS backup and more
3. Links2SD - Move apps from internal to External SD ( Note stores all app on internal storage)
4. ROM Manager - 1 stop rom control / flash
5. Triangle Away - reset your counter
6. BuildProp editor
7. Xposed Framework - Change your UI ( ex: transparent status , battery , lock screen and many many more customization)
8. ES-File explorer
9. AdAway - now not in playstore can download from XDA.
10. Tasker - Probably the best paid app out there
all the suggested apps are great
but it all comes down to what are u planning to do with ur device ......
Many were already mentioned, but to me:
Adaway (http://sufficientlysecure.org/index.php/adaway/)
Android Firewall (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jtschohl.androidfirewall)
Autorun Manager (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rs.autorun&hl=en)
Greenify (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=en)
Tasker + Secure Settings (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm&hl=en)
Titanium Backup (or similar app that allows freezes and app+data backups)
SD Maid (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm.unlocker&hl=en)
Lumberjack (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.solarnz.apps.lumberjack&hl=en)
GMD SPen (useful for gestures and for screen auto-off when inserting pen)
First thing I do to my phone:
-Freeze useless apps with Titanium
-Stop apps from auto-starting with Autorun Manager
-Add some apps to Greenify
(these steps save me lots of RAM and I guess, CPU cycles).
Then Tasker+Secure Settings for automation (in my phone it ends up replacing several apps as it can be tweaked to do lots of stuff)
Android Firewall is a must too. I have it Deny All by default and only allow apps that I know are needing Wifi or 3G access. The rest are not allowed to connect to the outside world.
Most likely you will also need something like
SuperSU https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu&hl=en
Busybox https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en
And just for fun, why not Live Dmesg ? (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.livedmesg.lite&hl=en)

Greenify definitely recommended ! Hibernates your App till you manually open it again. After using it , it again hibernates thereby cutting off synch and services associated to it - which means you can use that app when ever you want at the same time ensuring it doesn't keep lingering at the background when you are not using it :good: .. Till now saving me some good amount of RAM & Battery, the only drawback it cannot hibernate system apps - like Google Music , which keeps auto starting .

Chrome beta works great.
Sent from rooted carbon note 2, with the xda app.
not much root apps i use myself though,
- titanium backup
- mobile odin (trying it out at the moment)
- gmd spen (once i switch to 4.2.2/4.3 still need to get a new sd-card first )
- SG USB Mass Storage Enabler (added to my list after i read about it, awesome app to get back the normal mass storage instead of the MTP connection samsung comes bundled with)
- lucky patcher (don't know if i can name that one here if not please remove this line ^^)
- adaway
there's only 2 apps i really use though, thats TB for my backups and adaway to get rid of those pesky adds mobile odin is something i have just i case, not something i really use on a regular basis.
gmd spen might be scratched from the list, and usb mass storage enabler as well, still gotta try out if that one actually increases anything in the transfer speed, if not i'm just gonna stick with the MTP as i can use my device at the same time then .

Get the donation version of greenify from play store which allow you to greenify system apps too!
Ps how can you guys forget root explorer ?
Sent from my BE(a)ST.. Samsung Galaxy Note2
I have seen a couple root apps posted that are good to have, I have a few apps that I have installed on every phone that make life a whole lot easier for root functions. I have no ties to any of these developers, and I have not created any of these apps. I just want to share some apps that I find are useful.
SD Maid, by Darken: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm
This app is great, This is my favorite root app. The feature list is jam packed with things it can do to help you change your Rom to better suite what you want. It makes clearing out corpses of removed apps (system or not) clearing your cache, and it even allowes you to uninstall or freeze system apps, you can even delete an app but leave its data in case you want to reinstall it later without having to reset up everything. You can toggle auto starts, look for duplicate files, and check your system info. it is a free app, with a paid unlocker for the pro features, and it is totally worth it to unlock the pro features.
CSC Feature Expert for Samsung, by Wanam: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ma.wanam.cscexpert
This app is great for modifying hidden features that carries change within the stock Sammy rom such as removing that annoying wifi notification in the drop down menu (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/general/quick-guide-enabling-hidden-features-t3087506 for some great ideas)
SQLite Editor, by speed software: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
This app allows you to edit the SQL for some great mods and tweaks like removing the brightness slider bar in the drop down menu (http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-s6/general/tweak-remove-brightness-slider-t3088329)
GSam Battery Monitor, by Gsam Labs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm
This app has a companion app for root users that makes it a system app with all the permissions needed to keep a close eye on battery usage. Tells you how long your average usage is for each app and the longer you have it installed the better it gets at telling you what is going on.
ROM Toolbox, by JRummy:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.liberty.toolbox
This app is a combination of like 8 apps that JRummy has created rolled into one easy to use package, for about 80% less than buying them separately. Most of the features of this app are not very useful for our phones, I think it is more leaning towards CM based ROMS but it still has a few features that we can use like a great file explorer, a easy to use app manager, a build.prop editor, task manager, Terminal emulator, and a DNS shanger.
Thats my list of must have root apps, what are some root apps you guys are using? I am sure there is an app out there I have not seen that would end up on my list, so reply with your favorite apps for root! :highfive:

Great for shutting down apps that like to run in the background. Great thing for the S6 is you can set the home button to greenify and lock the screen by holding the home button for 2 seconds.
titanium backup, by Titanium Track:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
I personally dont like titanium back up. and SD Maid does everything Titanium back up does and more all in one app for less money.

This is a new app for me, I have started using it for flashing on my S6 Edge, but never used it before that. It is a great app, and a necessity for us s6 users with locked bootloaders.

No free or trial version so I have never tried the app. It looks like a useful app, but no better than the Gsam, and gsam is free.
adaway, by sufficientlysecure: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934553157
Adaway is a necessity for all root users! it does what it says and makes the ads go away. I didnt include it in my origional post because I was going to stick with Play store apps but it is more than worth of the list.
To add another useful app, is another app store, fdroid. https://f-droid.org/
Fdroid offers some apps that the play store wont allow such as adawy. I have never had or heard of any malware issues using Fdroid, but I dont see alot of people talking about it around here.

Hi guy ,is your GravityBox working fine? there're lots of apps crash after the second reboot on my phone.
I'm using xKindleMod. It's a must have if you use the Kindle app. Also using YouTube Ad Away.
And I only had a couple of status bar mods work for me with GravityBox. I didn't try too many, but even centering the clock made the battery % disappear. I ended up uninstalling it since it wasn't very compatible.

I've used to lists from those guides, but have found roughly only half of the suggested alarms and wakelocks in the HTC 10 specifically. I must tell that with Magisk and systemless xposed, I had all the modules I tried successfully working without any problems. But beware of enabling modules that are made for other phones (for example Sony Xperia modules...) Just do this: Before enabling module read the description for compatibility with different phones and systems... I have a lot of modules running not officially compatible but they work anyway - Example: GravityBox MM is working perfectly except for the above written issue. If some module cause bootloop or freezes, just go in the TWRP, decrypt data and then navigate to Advanced->File Explorer (or manager, I am not sure) When file manager in TWRP is opened, navigate to /data/app/[name of problematic module] and delete the whole folder... Then your phone will work again.
I have working those:
ActivityForceNewTask
Android N-ify
App Settings 1.13
ChromePie
Google Photos Bottom Bar Remover
GravityBox MM
Heads Off
Hide Mock Location
MinMinGuard
MoonPhase
NoShareServices
PoGoIV
Pokemon Go IV Checker
Pokemon Go Joystick
Prevent Running
Route selector
Snapprefs
Tumblr AdAway
Xposed Additions
Youtube AdAway
Youtube Background Playback
Also do not forget AdAway, but it is not module but a must have app

I've found a couple of guides online that suggest alarms and wakelocks to limit. I've used to lists from those guides, but have found roughly only half of the suggested alarms and wakelocks in the HTC 10 specifically. Are you aware of any HTC 10 specific wakelocks and alarms I should limit? How do you have yours set up?

Please people, before you are doing something and preventing things that you "think" are causing drain, just try to do what I will write now... I have done this same things since HTC Desire and its still the most efective thing that I could have done, I dont need to install any other app like Amplify or Greenify to disable things. Everytime, first setup your phone and install all apps you want. Yes, this includes Facebook app and other battery draining apps, just install everything you will use, even if it is just an app you will use once a month. It is important all apps are logged in and synced like you want them. If you use auto-sync, enable it for apps you want and everything... Then go into Settings->Apps and open every app and change permissions FOR EVERY APP you installed what to allow and what not. For example I only allow Storage and Contacts access permission for Whatsapp and Viber. If you also take a lot of pictures with camera when in Viber or Whatsapp, you should allow Camera permission too... Just know what you will use app for and then make permissions like that. I revoker all permissions for Facebook and Messenger, and I only enable Storage permission when I upload a photo and disable it after that. Okay, after you fixed all the permissions like you want you use phone until you go to sleep. Before you go to sleep FULLY CHARGE your phone to 100%. You have to leave Wi-Fi ON, auto-sync enabled and everything just like you want the settings to be when you use your phone through the day. After it is 100%, create an alarm clock to wake you up in the morning. Disconnect the charger after that. After you wake up in the morning, look at the battery percentage. I loose about 4-5% through the night, this is about 0,5% per hour. You have to remember that I loose ONLY 0,5% per hour AND I have WiFi PLUS auto-sync enabled I receive all email, viber, everything After you see the battery percentege go into Settings->Power->Battery Usage and take a look what is draining battery (If you have more than 1% per hour, here you should see what is the problem. Also take a look in Settings->Power->History, here you should see if you had any wakelocks.
Look at attached picture, first one is what is OK and second one is NOT OK.
If you have any wakelocks or if you want to manage running apps in background go into Xposed application and download and enable Prevent Running xposed module. Reboot the phone. After that, open Prevent Running and go into Advanced Settings. Enable options "Lock Sync", "Auto Prevent"(enable this only if you want every new installed app to be automatically prevented running in background), Allow Unknown Sender, Force stop important system apps.
Go out of the Prevent Running settings and and click and select "Auto Prevent" for every app you dont want to run in the background. I enabled Auto Prevent for all apps I dont use often and also for apps I use often but I dont want them running in background (Like Here WeGo navigation, Drippler, Google Goggles, Hostelworld, Pinterest, Pokemon GO, Root Explorer, Shazam, SoundHound, Translate, Tumblr, Twitter, Wake On Lan, Docs, Drive, Facebook, Photos, Youtube, Maps,...) BEWARE that all apps you Auto Prevent will not run in background if you exit from them with back button or if you remove them from recents. They can still run in background if you press home button, then they are running until you remove them from recents
This is how I achieved performance like it is on first screenshot attached here.
I hope this helps someone
Hello guys! This thread is for all the rooted people out here who have rooted their oneplus 9 Pro. What are the root apps you are using and what apps you think can be used later as they might cause any brick! Love to hear from you!
My go to APKs are Root Explorer and Titanium Backup. Have had them since the golden days and still use them to this day!
Root Call SMS Manager
Root Explorer, Swift Backup for backup/restore of apps (with data) updated regularly, rather than Titanium Backup which is basically been dumped, Root Essentials

SD Maid? This has been known for years to actually not do anything whatsoever for performance. In fact probably malware.
Yup, for me is Titanium Backup Pro, AdAway, Magisk, Root Explorer... bunch of other stuff, but those are the top ones for me.
Having root is just having the flexibility of being able to hack stuff and customize the phone to your own liking.
Access settings and config files usually you'd not be able to access without root.

I would love some sources on any of this. While SD Maid isnt as useful on A11 compared to 10 or 9 due to how A11 works, I have never seen nor heard anyone suggest anything of the sort (unless they are downloading a pirated pro variant)

swift looks great but wish it was on fdroid too. OAndBackupX has finally been updated to work on A11 and works perfectly. My only judgement of it is its dependency to use documents.ui to function, instead of allowing any competent file manager.

Thinking of completely de-googling my phone and using fdroid also. But the adjustment of non-google apps is where I get stuck. Might get me another phone for both worlds

de-googling, while always something i consider and work towards, is hard. in fact, id say its almost impossible with the OP9 on A11 at this time (unless you're a developer with great skills, ok with extremely minimal use and sub optimal security)
thankfully, i enjoy browsing fdroid repos and seeing what new offerings are out there. aurora droid has a fantastic list of pre installed repos available.its lack of anti-feature control in the options (like f-droid) made me just export its precompiled list into fdroid itself.
I have Magisk root for Titanium Backup, AdAway, Solid Explorer, Franco Manager, Nova, SD Maid, and customizing.
Button mapper... I forgot..

what tasked options do you utilize?
I always have a real lack of problem solving and originality when it comes to task scripting

Qs tiles for applications that don't have them. Display modes ex brightness and screen timeout. Schedules for when wifi and NFC turn on and off.

wtf are you writing? Why should it speed up your phone?
Its pretty much the best app for cleaning the storage on your phone.
Nobody ever said it should speed up the device...
