Flashed the Columbian 4.4.2 via Odin and went to root it with CF Auto root following all of the instructions, but when I open titanium backup and SUpersu I am told that I dont have the correct binaries installed. Warrantee bit is 1. So I screwed my warrantee and don't even have root to show for it. I have tried the procedure 3 times now with no results. Thanks for any help.
Flash TWRP, then flash the supersu.zip via the recovery.

Can someone please spell it out for me? I have always used ClockworkMOD.
I have installed the KK image, all is working well. I flashed ChainFire's autoroot via Odin and root is not showing. What am I missing? I can't install TWRP via PlayStore as I am not rooted and installing SuperSU gives me the same issue.

Download TWRP from their website. Use version 2.6.3.3 that's the stable one. When you download, download the IMG.Tar one. Don't unzip it.
Put tablet into download mode and connect to odin. In Odin untick auto reboot, press AP and click the twrp you downloaded and flash.
Then reboot into recovery and flash SU zip

Thanks for the help. Followed all of the steps, but can't boot into recovery. I used to have a custom boot menu that allowed me to do it, but it is gone. I am powering off the device, holding Vol UP and power. When I see the Galaxy Note splash screen, I am releasing power. I have tried a ton of times and it is not working.

So when I do that, it stays on the Galaxy Note splashscreen forever. I hold down power again and it reboots.
Maybe i have to order of operations wrong. I can start over.
I have the KK update installed, all is working fine.
I need to flash TWRP, ChainFire AutoRoot, and SuperSU.
If I were to start over, I should flash Autoroot with Odin, then TWRP with Odin? Then I should be able to boot into recovery with your instructions and flash the SuperSU zip file in recovery?
Sorry, normally this stuff is easy for me. Not sure why I am struggling so much here.

The first bit of you're post is correct. Autoroot, then Twrp then su zip
When flashing TWRP make sure to untick auto reboot in odin or it probably won't work

Note: There are two ways to apply this update. The method I recommend requires that you be rooted.
Method 1:
Download the update zip file from the link that is referenced in above post. Root your phone and use root explorer to copy to /cache. Once copied; do full unroot, reboot into recovery, flash from cache, then reboot and enjoy 4.1.2.
Another note: Just to clarify, this update file is for stock 4.1.2 that is sent via OTA. Also, I suggest to unroot before installing the update because it will break root. You can root again using the exynos exploit after applying the update. Also, this process does require stock recovery!
Method 2:
If you do not want to root your phone. You can save the update.zip on your external sdcard and apply from there but by doing so I believe it will wipe your device. By updating from cache, I was able to update my wife's phone without it being wiped clean.

That's because this has not been released to Kies. If you were on stock rom and recovery, your status should show normal and it should show as official when you boot into download mode.
Also, if this was not official, you wont be able to flash this using stock recovery since it checks the signature for the file and it would have failed signature verification.

It boot normally if I just press power button, and it goes into odin if I do VOL down +home+power. Any ideas why recovery is not working?

First of all you need to get into recovery mode, not download mode. To get into recovery you hold Volume up+Home button+Power button. You should only hold this three button combo until the screen flashes with the splash screen then immediately let go.

I was copying the file with root explorer.
I mentioned the "download mode " screen just to give a picture of the phone behavior(what is working vs what was not), did not meant to cause confusion there.
I have a new problem now as mentioned in my last post
I an attempt to get into recovery and clear the cache, I read in a forum that I could get into recovery via GOOMANAGER. I installed it and used "reboot to recovery " and now phone is stuck in ENLESS LOOP of the "samsung NOTE 2" screen.
I cannot make it boot normally now.I think the phone is stuck trynig to get into recovery similar to the manual way described before (when I press UP+HOME+POWER to get into recovery phone only looped samsung screen). HOw can I break the loop ?
The only screen working right now is ODIN (DOWN +HOME+POWER).
Go to sammobile and download the stock rom then flash via odin.

I'm not understanding how to do this. My device is a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Bell version 317 which I understand is the same as AT&T. I have unlocked and rooted my device on 4.1.1 and have Root explorer installed. Downloaded the update link and copied that file into the /cache folder....unrooted via superuser. When I try to get in2 recovery it is successful but I don't know what to do from there.....there's an option to format cache which I'm assuming will delete everything in that folder.
Also, I cannot install the zip via external sd card which the update is also on
Any help?

Another thing: I can't use odin because I don't have a computer. There's an app called flashify that installs recoveries but it still only works with 2.6.3.0. Even installing the latest version from goo manager doesn't work.

I think I will need to install TWRP with Odin -- goomanager isn't working for me. It SAYS that it has installed TWRP, but every time I try to get into recovery all I get is the standard Android recovery.
My question, please is this: where did you get the tar file for TWRP, and which slot did you use with Odin? Was it the PDA?
Thanks very much

I got mine by going to the twrp site, but I admit it wasn't exactly easy to find. You can know you're getting the right version of TWRP if you download CPU-Z from the play store and check the third page that says system; the model name gives you the store citric name you'll look for when you go to the TWRP site, but the link I gave you is for the lt03wifiue .
Have fun!

Goo manager doesn't work on our tablet for install of twrp.
Use the link four posts up for the twrp. Also, just check your SOC with CPUz, to make sure it's actually the right version of twrp for your tablet. But Odin is the way to go.

Power off your device, then press Volume up + power button. Release the power button when you see the "galaxy note 10.1 2014" screen

I'm hoping maybe someone could enlighten me how to get TWRP to boot into TWRP. I had CleanRom installed and everything was working with TWRP. Stupid me I thought I could help battery life by doing a Cache and Dalvik Cache wipe. Bonked my P600! I had to ODIN a new firmware, rooted and tried to get TWRP installed. I've tried the ODIN Tar method 2.6.3.1, Tried with a TWRP zip file and Goo Manager to install TWRP and none worked. When I go to recovery I keep getting the Android System Recovery. My head is banging on my desk at the moment. Would anyone have an idea how to get TWRP working on my rooted and now stock P600? I so want to get Clean 2.0 back. :crying::crying::crying::crying:
A big Thanks in advance for the help.
Solved: I'm not sure why but I tried ODIN again and TWRP install. WEIRD
I cant seem to find an updated guide with files to root and install a custome recovery on the sprint note 2 with 4.3 can someone help me find a link or get me the files etc?
Thanks
Recovery
I went to cyanogenmods website and ran the installer as directed. That installed cyanogenmod and rooted the device automatically, then you can download and flash any of the other custom ROMs on this site.
I rooted 4.3 with allinone toolkit clicking older variation and worked fine

My note 2 is blocking the cyanogenmod installer. It says unartherized access to a secured area on your phone without authorization has been blocked.
I'm stumped just got this phone and it is a pain to root

Do this
1. Boot into download/bootloader mode.
2. Connect to pc and use odin to flash twrp. Make sure you uncheck reboot and flash twrp in the pda slot.
3. Once flashed pull battery and disconnect from pc.
4. Press vol+ menu power buttons while inserting battery (yes it is difficult but can be done)
5. Now in recovery perform factory reset.
6. Flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36388145
7. Now reboot it will act/look weird but dont worry this is normal. It will reboot and take a long time to boot.
Now you are on stock mc2 (no knox anymore). Root using cf autoroot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=33278464
Now use odin once again and flash your recovery again. Now you are rooted and have a custom recovery. Oh and you have a working phone again.

Before I do all of that...I discovered I can boot into TWRP and updated it to the newest version. Then I installed the cyanogen nightly onto the phone. Everything seemed to be working ok except I couldn't get any phone signal but wifi worked. I tried loading the dirty unicornes rom and the same thing happened . I then flashed cm 10.1 and the phone worked for calls but the asop keyboard kept crashing and couldn't login to the wifi network. I tried several installs with factory resets with the same results. If I follow the directions you listed will I be able to install these roms and the phone work for calls or am I missing another piece of the puzzle?

Look for it in the development thread. The op will have a link. Use 6.07.9 version and make sure it has a zip extension not md5.

I have successfully rooted my new tablet, but I seem to be having a problem finding what I need for CWM recovery.
I found info on TWRP which I did try to use, but after it appeared to do a successful backup to the ext card, the backup could not be found. No idea where it went to, but I returned recovery back to stock & would like to go with CWM since I am familiar with it & should be able to locate where my backups are stored.
Is CWM even available for this tablet yet or am I just missing the post?
If someone could please help me out & point me what I need I would forever be in your debt, well maybe not forever.
Thank you
Mark
Download Flashify from the play store. Open the app, on the flash tab select recovery, Download CWM, and choose the version you want. Make sure to select the image and not the zip. Let it download and then let it install. No PC necessary and easy as pie. The app also allows you to back up your original recovery as well.

Oops, just realized they don't have any CWM recoveries in flashify. Sorry
Hey man they have cwm for our tablet. I have it on mine.

Yeah I noticed that. Wonder why it is not there if it is available.
Didn't mind TWRP so bad other than where the heck did my backup go

Is your tablet the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 SM-T230?
If so you wouldn't happen to have a link to where I can get cwm do you?
Thank you

Tried to flash it using Flashify & it came up with an error, maybe this is why there is no CWM available through the app.
Can I just flash this like I did to root it? Using Odin(sp) I assume.
Oh, are you running CM 11? If so how is it working for you?
Once again thank you for the file
Much appreciated,
Mark
I'm sorry I forgot to tell you to flash it through ODIN.

Flashing & Backup worked fine, but how the heck do I get back into recovery?
I held the power button/vol down & it took me to a screen warning me about flashing roms, Think it was an Odin screen.
Putting CWM on this Galaxy isn't as easy as it was putting it on my Nook HD it appears.
Is there possibly another button combo to get into recovery?
Sorry for all the questions
Turn it on and hold the volume up button for recovery; hold the volume down for odin mode.
Simple enough. Now all I have to do is remember what to do.
Thank you very much for your help.
