Mobile Hotspot - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is there a way to use the mobile hotspot on a gs4 with using the cellular data pool not the mobile hot spot pool? That way the hot spot is almost limitless. This may be in another thread but I am not really sure to search for, for this topic. Any help would be appreciated.

You don't search or read that's what!!
I'm talking about native wifi tether. I'll work on getting it unlocked if no one else ha done it so far. I'm not talking about using Foxfi or any other third party crap. I have not found a thread or room in the att section with native wifi tether unlocked.
Why don't you be useless and tell me to search again....

I thought foxfi don't work right now unless somebody modified from xda or they came up with ics fix ???
I want to root and enable native tether or not root and use foxfi
I don't want to use custom rom since I may break my device

He doesn't know that foxfi unlocks the native tethering but has its own GUI it uses for settings and sets its own name as the hotspot. Or for everybody's info that's how it works lol.

ROM's don't break devices...People break devices.
I've never had a rom ruin my device but I have seen where people have bricked their device because they didn't know what they were doing . I have even heard of people flashing roms for different phones on to their own... Ya, it does get comical around here. lol

correct rom don't break your device but people do. but changing rom makes you break device if something goes wrong. i had captivate and i used to load rom easily without issue using clockwordmod recovery. one day i loaded cyangenmod rom and try to load other rom after that and my device never boot up and keep rebooting . cyangenmod changed my boot logo from samsung to cyangenmod and i cant even goto change my device out under warranty.
Foxfi does work now with 1.95 version i guess fix is out and as long as it unlocks native tethering in background then i dont need anything now. i m happy.:laugh:
That sounds like a simple boot-loop, if the phone appears to be continually rebooting and not loading the OS. Maybe not bricked at all...
What happened when you restored your backup?

Mobile Odin

You should get mobile Odin Pro. If you haven't already. It's great if you use stock roms and want root. No more worrying about losing root during OTA upgrades. You also keep your apps and data if you wish. Or if you just wanted to do a quick reinstall and wipe if your phone. Also mobile odin doesn't trigger the yellow triangle at all.
During this last upgrade (4.1.2) I finally spent the 4.99 to get it and now wish I had gotten it earlier.
Anyone else using mobile odin?

How is this the wrong section? This is the general section. This is a topic about mobile odin on the note 2. It is not a Q&A thread cause I'm not seeking information nor asking about the device/software. Nor is it a Rom/Dev thread because it's not a rom, recovery, or other such low level software. Nor is it off topic. It is a piece of very relevant software for our phone that has to do with running new official roms or even reverting to previous roms if you wish.
So where does it belong? I wouldn't say it belongs in themes in apps cause it's not a game or theme.

Thread police have come to save the day!
While this is an app, it's on line with Toolkit so maybe it should be in the dev section.

[Q] How can I enable tethering on Stock ROM

I like the stock ROM, and I'm trying to figure out how to root it now (browsing threads looking for the easiest to follow method) but I'd like to know, once rooted, how can I enable tethering? I have unlimited data, and don't want to switch. I rarely use tethering, but I like the option. Thanks
Your signature suggests you are using a Verizon S3. Do you also have an at&t model? If not, check out the Verizon S3 boards for better support and the correct firmware and mods.
Ah derp. I have AT&T now using a plan that was grandfathered. I'll fix that

I know we have the stock T Mobile Tethering app on our phones, but I only have 500mb tether data.
Is there a way to get free tethering?

Google?
What is this Google you speak of?
It sounds so futuristic and full of millions of results not relevant to my question.
I figured I should ask the "pros" on XDA before I searched on a search engine and not find what I need, but you seemed to have debunked it Einstein.
So helpful, as much sarcasm that was in my previous statement.
I was hoping someone could link me to this, but I wasn't aware it was so horrible and gruesome to just help someone with their questions. In such a rude demeanor, might I add.
I just got this device and havent been around this forum as long as the S4 has been out.
I had the Note 2 before this and in that forum, they were kind enough to link me to TrevE's Wifi Mod".
Now that, was a helpful and courteous forum.
I've looked on countless pages of multiple threads and found nothing.
Thank you for your response, as un-useful as it is, I appreciate it.

Could someone that has successfully done the above methods please post instructions.
I've been trying at this for the past 3 hours and neither method works.
The first method simply doesn't work anymore, I get an error with view log report, but when clicking log report, there is none!
The second method is beyond my level of phone knowledge, I tried to overwrite the file provided, my phone rebooted and I don't see any change, and the instructions are very user-unfriendly
I'm pulling my hair out because for my previous phone it was so easy, I just had to use titanium backup and deleted a specific file. I don't understand why this is so difficult

Can T-Mobile detect when you are rooted and using the hotspot? Do they throttle?

I have the Galaxy Note 2 and its dopetastic. I have it rooted and it works great. No problems at all (Jedi ROM). My question is when you are rooted and are using the hotspot that comes on the custom ROM......do you get throttled? Like does T-Mobile know that you are using the hotspot when you are rooted?
Any answers would be great!! Thanks folks!!
Yes they tell when ur using hotspot (tethering) if you're rooted they have sniffer agents get wifi treve mod(search google) and hola(playstore) when you got them ill help you with the settings to get it working without t mobile knowing

First off, you don't need to be rooted to tether. The is a myth and all to often the reason to root when you don't need to root.
Second. They will not know if you are rooted or not through the network.
Yes, they will know if you are tethering. Now days all plans come with 500mb of data on tethering by default. I use Hola and seems to hide the tethering.
I just wanted to set straight on two myths. Need root to tether. Not true. And the cellular provider can tell that I am rooted through the network. Again, not true.
Yea I was gonna tell him to use foxfi and use usb mode but hes rooted so I was keafing him towards what I use hola and wifi treve mod you I dont got to worrie about my 500 mb running out and he didnt ask if they could tell if ur rooted just if they could tell ur using hotspot while ur rooted
