So loads of 8.4 users have been complaining of wifi issues - has anyone been experiencing wifi issues on the 10.1?
You would assume they use the same wifi antennas..
i havent put there is also a software update available right now that might fix some things.no info has been found yet on what exactly it does.
I'm on a 10.1 and haven't come across any issues yet
I've had the device since day one and haven't experienced any wifi issues, either at home or at work.

No wifi issues here. My tab 10.1 locks on and stays on.

What kind of issues are you talking about ? I'm having major wifi issues with my 10.1 NOT LTE. Wifi keeps disconnecting every 10 minutes. I tried:
In my router:
- Disabling MAC filtering;
- Tried using both DHCP or static IP;
- Using Wifi G only (instead of N);
- Disabling B/G protection;
On the tablet:
- Same issue with stock ROM and custom ROM;
- Same issue with stock kernel or custom kernel;
- "Wi-Fi Timer" option is OFF
- "Keep Wifi ON during sleep" is set to ALWAYS
- Turned off Avast! & Malwarebytes (just in case)
It's major pain because I can't play any games reliably. I can't send back the tablet to Samsung because the KNOX warranty is void.
Anyone has any idea or is having the same issue ?

Recently I've been having problems with Wi-Fi. My phone and nexus 7. They both stay on blue bars all the time claiming they're connected to Google servers. And it'll work good for about 20 seconds and then I'll have no connection for about a minute. Bars will stay blue like its connected and WiFi show that it's fill signal but pages won't load, apps will timeout and YouTube videos won't stream. Makes it impossible to download any Roms or apps at times. This just recently started happening. Videos will stream good for maybe 2 minutes tops. Then pause, after a minute Wi-Fi will stay streaming and going again by itself and stream. I haven't changed my router or is settings. I have static ip's assigned too. All other computers work just fine for internet. Never a problem.
I've tried changing kernels, Roms, complete wipes and reinstalls. Rebooted the router. Nothing fixes it. I'm getting really frustrated. I'm at the point where I'm going trio go buy a new router just cause I want to use 5ghz. Anyways, any suggestions to solve this?

Weird how it affects just my device in an entire thread with a ton of people using the rom and same kernel.
I went and picked up a new router. I'll see if that fixes it. Thanks for the input though. I appreciate it.
Didn't help with new router. My WiFi still cutting out like crazy on Franco kernel. Almost as soon as I turn off screen. But its not turning WiFi off. Just goes into some sort of state where nothing comes through. When screen on everything is fine though now.
In Wifi settings, you could try unchecking "Avoid Poor Connections" and see if that helps.
Also do you have any other devices at home on the same wifi network - do they experience the same issues, I know where I am if we get a lot of rain, it causes intermittent internet slowdowns, I had similar issues and after testing other devices found this to be my problem not my Wifi.
Also, have you got any cordless phones in the house that might run on the same frequency?
I still have an issue keeping wifi at 100% d/l when the phone is asleep, even though the setting is for always on. It must be a hardware thing for me because every rom I've tried from ICS to the latest JB exhibit the same issue. If I am in a desperate need to d/l a large file on my phone, I just temporarily change the screen display off timer to 10 minutes of so so the wifi will stay at max d/l speed.

Ya avoid poor connections is unchecked. And wifi optimization is unchecked. I've tried putting my router on full auto, tried setting static ip addresses for everything. Changing from wireless n to wireless g. Changing security to off as well. Using the 5ghz band instead of 2.4. The nexus 7 is working perfectly fine with the new router. But my galaxy nexus is totally unreliable. Weird is that it just started happening within past couple weeks. And actually, it was good for the first day or so after new router. I can confirm all other wifi devices jn the house work just fine without any hiccups. I've never had a problem with other devices. No dropouts or anything. It's really puzzling me!
One thing I found weird, if I disable wmm on my router, my nexus 7 and galaxy nexus will not connect. Anyone else get this?
I hope you also have your router firmware completely up to date.

Ya my router auto updates itself. Its a Cisco EA6500 in case your wondering and is helpful.
I use my wifi at work and it's very unreliable. At times going into an endless disconnect/reconnect loop. Sometimes restarting the wifi helps or putting it in and out of airplane mode. Other times nothing helps except a reboot of my phone. Some apps may make the issue worse. I don't think there is a fix and waiting for google to fix the flaw a user pointed out earlier.

Possibly a 4.2 issue. But its not affecting everyone it seems. But i see that there is a huge thread about this at the google site. Not an isolated case
When you say you set a static ip, you set one from the router, have you tried setting a static ip on the phones wifi advanced options as well?
Have you tried different radios?

Yup has happened to me mine connects to the net but has grey bars and doesn't open any websites and apps dont connect to the net a reboot solves the problem

I set static on both router and the phone. I've tried all the north american radios. None of the euro ones. no effect. Sticking to the latest North American radio for now. I've managed to make it work sorta with CM10.1 with stock kernel on completely fresh install. It works, but the down arrow on the Wi-Fi icon stays lit almost 100% of the time. no idea why, only other device that was on all yesterday was the nexus 7, and that was on the 2.4ghz and phone the 5ghz. Huge wlan_rx_wake!
It's likely this:

See if that sounds about right and if so, you'll just have to wait for a Google Patch.

Yeah. Just don't understand how so few here experience this. And only my phone, not my nexus 7 gets this.

When i first updated to 4.2, I was getting crazy dropouts. After unchecking the Wi-fi optimization, it was more consistent but still drops out frequently while at work. There is a known bug with the wifi driver that hasn't been addressed for years, but still trying to find the original articles describing the problems.
It seems you are having tons of issues, worse than most.
If you are having a problems suggested on this site, maybe this can help.

It affects me as well. Completely random. Everything appears fine except that instead of blue, the icons are grey. Turning off wifi and turning it back on fixes it.
In the link above, there is a comment where you can submit more info for Google to help solving the problem:

the weird thing is, it just started happening about 2 weeks ago. It was perfectly fine up until then. Never had an issue with Wi-Fi. If this don't work i might try doing an entire wipe right back to stock and locking bootloader.
Both my data and WiFi have been acting very strange the past week. Both services will show me as connected but I will only get the upload arrow showing on each indicator and then sometimes the icons just go gray. It has been happening very often and I have changed both my ROM and kernel on clean installs and I still have the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Bump. Still have the problem.
Flashing back to stock should work

I started a thread here on a topic where my wifi and signal bars turn gray and the phone doesn't have data connectivity any more. sometimes this happens a dozen or more times a day and sometimes once or twice.
one response in that thread indicated that 4.2.2 made a positive impact on the problem.
I've been searching for a definite fix for this data/WiFi issue to no avail. I'm not entirely sure of when this issue began to occur but my phone (Toroplus) constantly loses WiFi signal. By losing signal I mean WiFi will turn off and on all by itself. And yes, WiFi sleep policy is set to stay on always. This issue alone made me go back to stock only to find the WiFi issue is present there too. I've also ruled out my router as the culprit. Im suspecting this is a Google issue. By the way, I talked to a sprint store employee who owned a galaxy nexus and after a few minutes of playing with his phone, which was completely stock and never rooted, I noticed his WiFi connection would turn off and on all by itself too. Any insight from anyone with knowledge to this would be appreciated.
Wi-Fi optimization off. If that does not fix it, I dunno.

Thanks for the suggestion but that doesn't fix it. Are you not having this issue? What's your setup? What ROM do you use? I've basically used all of them and it never goes away. I'm thinking of going to the HTC One when it's released just in case it's a Samsung issue.
I have also experienced this problem, especially at work where the network uses some WPA Enterprise variant. I've digged through logcats and can't find the problem either. A few Google Code forum posts talk about a possible bug introduced by network adapter manufacturers, or wpa_supplicant configuration issues. Haven't found a workaround yet, so I had to go back to 4.1.2, which seems to be stable.

The more I read on this subject the more I come to realize this is not specific to a certain device. The only common denominator that jumps out at me is jellybean. Seems like the issue is with Google, not hardware. Sucks that such a basic feature is not reliable out of the box. At least now I can understand why my buddy calls Android "buggy". Hopefully this is fixed sometime in the near future.
I know this has probably been asked many times before but i can not find an acceptable answer. My WiFi will not automatically connect to known WiFi spots i know they are solutions to try like turning wifi optimisation on/off and you can always manually go into wifi and it will connect, but its not right it is not how it should work. I'm wondering if it is linked to hardware as in a certain batch of components not working properly with the software. Anyway is there a permanent proper fix other than flashing back to an early release. Also I have tried many 4.3 roms including stock and they are all the same

Had the same issue. Having success with a Tasker rule that turns off wifi for 1 minute when wifi connection is lost and then turns it back on. This seems to reset the wifi so when I return to a known wifi, there is a reconnect. At wost have to wake the device (hit the power button) and then wifi comes alive.

Thanks for help I've decided to go back to 4.2 for now. It really bugs me when something doesn't work as it should and refuse the 'workarounds' as a matter of principle. Does anyone know though if it is a hardware batch kind of problem as it just doesn't seem to make sense that some people have the problem where others do not. I hope 4.4 doesn't have the same issue.

Having the same issue here on my toroplus. I've noticed three different behaviors: automatically connects, connects right after screen turns on (before unlocking), and doesn't connect until I tell it to "Connect". I've read that some people have reported the issue on the Nexus 4, but I don't know if that means anyone is working on fixing it...but being on multiple devices, someone that can fix it ought to notice it, right? I hope so; it's definitely starting to annoy me too!
Its annoyed me to the point I think 4.3 is unusable. I have limited data usage and with my very useless memory I keep using it up as I've forgot to manually connect to WiFi. I've even tryed looking through all the system folders to see if I can edit some setting but I don't really know what I'm looking for.

Recently tried 4.3 again with the same problems as usual. Buuuut after a week of using it the WiFi issue seems to be fixing itself!?!?! More and more often its connecting by itself yet I have not changed a single thing. I am on stock unrooted 4.3. So maybe its just a case of a bit of patience.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
No, I can't confirm that. I've been using 4.3 for at least 2 months and the issue hasn't fixed itself the least.
From looking around the web, KitKat came with several bugs. WiFi is among them, where it either won't detect a signal, only detect it momentarily, or detect it and refuse to maintain a connection. For me, it works perfectly fine on my home router but not at relatives' houses, and especially at school. A couple more points:
1. My previous tablet was the iPad 3, which never had such issues. My classmates who currently have iPads and iPhones don't have issues at the moment as well, so to me its not the school's network, especially since the issue is with most wireless signals I encounter.
2. My Galaxy S5 has the same exact issue (and my main motivation for switching to the Tab S was the compatibility between the two devices).
I have rooted both devices. I have switched to ThunderRom on the Tab S while I haven't changed the OS on the S5. Has anybody else encountered the same issue and does anybody know of a fix? Thanks in advance.

Strange: no probs at all with WiFi (working perfect in the 5GHz-band)
The WiFi is a beast! The best of the best! Well, that I've ever owned lol.
I don't have issues to connect with my router, though nearly every day there is a moment where websites don't load at all. Then I need to turn wifi off and turn wifi on again and then it works. Very annoying.
Is my Nexus defective?
I have just noticed that I have posted in the wrong forum, sorry
I dont have any issues. Are you stock? Have you tried other kernels / roms ? Have you tried to isolate the problem to the 2.4 or 5 GHz band?
Stock Android 7.0, there is no option to choose the band in Android 7, but I have already had this issue with Android 6.
Mine also has wifi issues. Sporadically disconnects and takes ~30 seconds to reconnect. Makes webpages, snapchat, and other apps not load all the time. Like you said, turning off and on wifi seems to fix it for a few.
I've tried forgetting the network, reconfiguring my router (it does this on other networks too), reflashing stock. I had this problem before I sent my phone in for the bootloop issue, and they sent it back fixed and it still does this. Thought maybe it was adblocking having issues, so didn't install that this time. Still does this. It's not TERRIBLE since it's connected maybe 70% of the time but it still is inconvenient

To isolate the bands you would have to disable the bands on the router.
