Found this earlier today and can confirm it works. If you have achieved s-off you can lock/unlock using this method.

Scotty already posted this in the international M8 forum here on xda for some time now. I suggest you look in there for all your modding and rom needs. Our device is 100% compatible with international ROMs and mods (firewater excluded of course).

@Behold_this are you going to make firmware packages like you did for the m7? Was a big help and would be great for the m8.

In General, yes. The steps to turn s off are a bit different though because verizon does not allow you to unlock the bootloader through htc Dev website. If you need help rooting/s off, google is your friend.

No problem! Most ROMs will say somewhere that it works with all carriers but it's smart to check just in case.
Have fun
What are the benefits/differences between Dev Ed Sense handset and "normal" Sense handset, apart from earlier OTA updates ?

Ok, thanks.
So, being as my m8 is s-off, unlocked and not carrier locked (HTC--001), there would be no real benefits it converting it to a de version ?
Thanks

I've been stuck on the verizon s3 for a couple of years and I finally bought a new phone. Naturally I had to get the developers edition of the HTC One m9. So I am wondering if their is a specific forum for our phones? Or do I just flash a rom according to whatever SIM card I'm using that day?
Also even though it was purchased as a developers edition, can flashing the wrong kernal get me stuck with a locked bootloader again?

Your in the right forums for your Developer Edition M9, Are you still with Verizon ?
I have a bit of a repository for the DE stuff here >> https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=28823
Any of the Roms in the Developer forums will work fine on your phone, I have tried Leedroid / ViperOneM9 / Stock with Goodies / and ARHD
with no problems.
I would be interested in knowing how you can get Verizon to work on a GSM phone if that is the case.

Awesome, thanks for the link!
I am still with verizon! tried the vzw sim to no avail and so far my m9 is just looking pretty. am still using my vzw s3 with no power button. I may go out today and get a t-mobile Sim card. I am definately dragging my feet because verizon does have the best coverage. But I will also find out if I SIM unlocked the s3. After the power button broke I went crazy with a few dialer code apps and I got to a point where I could manually input APN's. If that's the case I may invest a few bucks to have it fixed.
I was looking at you nicely organized repository and noticed you had a copy of the stock recovery. May I ask what you used to back it up?

LeeDroid is a nice Sense based Rom, lots of tweaks and very stable/bug free and includes his own custom kernel

Just curious, what rom are you currently using?

Anyone know if I already get them to the developer edition the update 1.40.401.8 ?????
Can you rephrase your question? I'm not sure what you're asking.
If you are asking about the 1.40.xx than as far as I know it is firmware for the international version. However you can flash it in Order to run some custom roms. I'm currently using it on my dev edition in order to run viper one.

Hi, Can anyone answer if international roms/custom roms will work with Hong Kong variant? I have recently bought it from a seller here, who told me that its an international variant, and that its not locked like Verizon M8, so, i decided to buy it and now, when i have researched about it, i have come to know that it has different processor altogether and that i may have to flash radio files in order to get it in working state after i am done installing roms/kernels.
Please help, as i really wanted a device with good dev support and i feel really bad as i think this device wont support all the goodies which are available in development section.
If it is a HKG variant with CID HTC__622, should not be a problem.
After you got it, make sure to do OTA up to 4.18.708.12 before you start modding it with custom ROM/kernel.
All the goodies which are available in development section should work fine on it as long as you updated it first.

Thank you, I have verified and it has same CID as you mentioned above.
Now, my question is: Can it be converted to GPE or flashed with kernels/roms found in development section? The processor is different as its AC variant of the MSM8974 Snapdragon 801 processor instead of AB variant of 801, will not that make it incompatible with those roms/kernels/etc? I suppose bootloader can be unlocked without any issues? Is there a guide or something which shows how to handle things differently on this version?

Everything will be possible and nothing needs to be handled differently. I have the 2.5Ghz Indian variant, same internals as you.

If you want to convert to GPE then you need S-OFF ! Otherwise you have to stick with custom GPE roms

i don't know, i do not have your phone ! Try it......it won't cost a thing if it does not work. The phone will be checked before proceding with the s-off process.
If it does not work i do not have any alternative ! So no s-off for you in that case........

so, after i s-off using sunshine, will it be back on by htc or it will stay that way unless i want s-on? What i have read about S-Off is that its only useful if i want to flash GPE roms or HK audio mod, which is pointless i think since m8 has good audio quality via headphones if you turn off boomsound, i mean, i am all for good quality audio playback but i am not sure if my FLAC collection will benefit from the audio mods since those work best on compressed audio files because of the restorative properties.

Once s-off it will indeed stay s-off until you give her commands to put it back s-on.
You didn't need s-off for GPE roms, only if you want to CONVERT to GPE with a RUU !
Audio mods i do not have experience with, mine is fine without it
