I was just going through the play store to find an app which will answer my calls automatically and play a recorded message and record their message after a beep. But to my surprise I couldn't find a single working app! Can someone just let me know if there is any such app? If no then can someone make it?

That wasn't the question what was asked. The OP is after an answerphone app, preferably not their network answerphone.
Anyway, OP. I don't think it is possible to create such an app, you would need to take over the phone state and then answer the call on incoming and then take and store a message. It may be possible however, I don't think it would be though.

This is an app which answers the call 'https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.elpis.answer_machine'
..is meant to answer with a recorded message and also record the callers voice message (but doesn't do any of those except the call auto answer).
So I believe there can be such an app if some better app developer goes for it.

I think that what you are looking for is a carrier's service and not an app one, but there may be apps for this work too....
Go to settings>Call settings>Voicemail, choose Service>My carrier and in the Setup>Voicemail number place the number of your voicemail(You can find this number from your carrier). Then you can call your carrier's voicemail setup for the rest...
I never needed/used something like this so I'm not 100% sure.

Anyone know of an application for android that will speak the number or contact, and the state they are calling from when receiving a call? Also is there an application that will say you have a text message and the name of the person texting you?

Yes sure.. ill find it for you. I used it. Says the name and the number when calling. Txt reads who tested and what the text said. Good for driving.. ill edit this post when I find it.
Edit: sms reader, in market. Try it out. Might be others not sure but I used that one.

I remember an app that a couple friends of mine had on their iPhone. 1 person could record a message and send it to the other. the second person would not hear the message until they went into the app. I cant remember what it was called so I was hoping someone here would know what I was talking about. I know there are a couple walkie talkie apps but I prefer to listen to the message when i want. anyone know what app that is and if there is anything similar for droid?
Um, call them and leave them a voice mail?

I believe in spring vvm u can start a new voice message and send it to a specific number.
When in apk hit menu then compose
Heytell is a walkie talkie app, but I believe that you can turn off auto play. You would get a notification that you have a new message, but would actually have to press a button to make it play.

Google Voice cant pull my att data and all that it just wont allow me to use voice as a voice mail option, so im reflashing, and stuck with my horrible issue of rooting :/ lol got it last time, just got to keep working at it this time
Ah, I never use it for voicemail anyway so I might not be much help.

Test the voicemail even if it says it failed. Mine never says it succeeds, but it works. I use Google Voice exclusively for calls.

:/ well i reflashed and got the teathering option now, but still no luck on the Google Voice :/
Call Settings Error
Could not retrieve and save current forwarding number settings. Switch to new provider anyway?
Yes-
Call Settings updating.
Call Settings Error
Forwarding number change unsuccessful. Please contact your carrier if this problem persists.
so should i go to ATT and see what they say or is there a fix i can do for this?
Try going into Google Voice on your computer and checking out the settings. There is a code you can use to deactivate and reactivate the voicemail feature.
When it fails to set forwarding number, is this in the automatic setup or were you manually forwarding in your settings?

I had same trouble with voicemail. I called to att to deactivate carrier voicemail. They sad it's already expired??? I know I have att voicemail and it's active. So no help from support. I changed manually forwarding numbers to gvoice number. And voicemail number to gvoice. And everything working for me now.

you may have to just set up manual call forwarding to set up google voicemail.
*004*your number#
example; *004*1 212 660 2245# (no spaces)

Looked in the play store but came up with apps that don't work well with our phone. Does anyone know of a working call recording app?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441643

K...I'll try it, thanks

That's cool. But I think it only works for inbound calls. If you place the call, I think that option gets disabled.
Hello, I am just wondering if there's a way to make free calls with your given number. I have looked in the app store but they all require another number or the other party having the same app.

I've heard the Vonage app allows you to use your own number to make calls for free, haven't tried it though.
