K guys I have an S3 and its 4.3 stock rooted . For some reason my pc has stopped reading / recognizing it.
I remember it working fine at first being connected to my PC and the drivers installed on their own and it allowed me to transfer files between the two simply connected via USB. However one day this stopped happening and my computer does not recognise my S3 at all, i've uninstalled and installed USB drivers multiple times along with KIES with no luck at all.
My pc is also running windows 8 ver 8.1
Ive have tried searching this issue and all I keep getting is old reports from 2011! And nothing really solving the issue
Any advice / help / tips would be wonderful
Thanks

Have you tried to connect your S3 to another PC? With this test you can understand if the problem is with your PC or your phone.
Hmm... no I havent tried that
Unfortunately all my friends and family live so far from me I really dont have another one to use

I've had that issue with several PCs. Have you tried going into Developer Options and either enabling or disabling USB debugging? I've had some that like it enabled and some that don't. Actually my main PC goes back and forth on that one. Also, have you tried a different cable?

I'm having the same issue. USB debugging on or off, my S3 stopped being recognized by my PC. It used to be just fine. IIRC, when I installed the MK3 kernel from here was the last major change to my phone. I think it was sometime after that it stopped being recognized. Haven't found a solution.

Hello, I finally got drivers to work while my EVO was in Diag mode, but it will not show me a com port, here is a screenshot.
I have searched all other categories and can't find anything.
It only shows up as My HTC in device manager, no more HTC DIAG
Please assist in this matter as I would love to connect with CDMA Workshop.

I have looked under everything and under ports is only Com1 which isnt it and printer port.
huh? I literally just installed the htc diag drivers and put the phone it diag mode (##3424#) and everything went perfectly and showed right up in device manager under ports (com 3). Took 2 mins... Not trying to brag.
try unplugging phone>rebooting computer>put phone in diag mode and connect usb
I understand that, I did that too and it worked. Then I rebooted and now it shows up as My HTC.... and no com port to choose from ((((
huh.. try right clicking and uninstalling my htc then reconnecting your phone in diag mode and running the drivers that way.
I did uninstall it, also chose delete drivers. Then I can see it show up as HTC DIAG without a driver. I choose the Driver for installation... It installs and just shows up as My HTC.
I attached the htc diag drivers I just used a little while ago. When it prompts you for the driver direct it to the win x86 folder that you unzip.

ahh ok attached 64 bit then
This is the problem I was having before untill I searched and found someone that provided a VISTA 64bit version of the driver which is the only one that worked out of like 10.
The driver you provided will not install the HTC DIAG.
And if I use the Vista driver then it installs but automatically says My HTC.

Sorry man check THIS thread out & maybe THIS one too. Hope they can help you better than I was able to.

I am having issue connecting to PC (on XP here but also issues on Vista 64 at home). No matter what I try I can't access storage to copy to/from my PC to my phone. I understand that JB now uses MTP rather than USB Storage, but having spent about three hours now trying to find a solution I have to admit I am completely stumped
Having tried many options without success, and having installed and uninstalled HTC Sync at least six times I have started again from scratch reinstalling everything I could think of which might have a bearing. I have just reinstalled the full SDK, installed Windows Media Player 11 (for MTP), reinstalled .NET 4, installed latest version of HTC Sync, but still when I connect I get an error in device manager with Other Devices>Android Phone (also get the Hardware Wizard popup which always ends up saying not installed/could not locate software even if pointed directly at the Google USB driver folder in the SDK so it's obviously not this), and in HTC Sync it always shows no device connected. Fastboot and ADB both see it (devices). If I disable USB Debugging then it is recognised as an MTP device but then the Android Phone error kicks in and Sync doesn't see it.
This is my issue:

On the Android device in device manager right click then uninstall, tick delete drivers if the tick box is there (sometimes it isnt)
Keep doing that until it doesn't even say android device (it will keep reinstalling it) it should say unknown device or something similar. Then reinstall the htc driver software and try again
Windows buggers up like this sometimes, has several drivers for the same thing, AFAIK its a case of getting rid of all the "spares" and installing just the one driver
Hope this helps

Hi All,
(i hope this is the right forum)
I recently bought a Tmo Note 3 off Swappa, the phone has been (still is) working perfectly except i just realized it wont mount to my PC and Kies says unsupported device. the guy i bought it from said it was unlocked but didnt say anything about custom ROM's or anything.
i have installed Kies 3, updated it, installed the USB drivers from Kies, i downloaded and installed the 1.5.45.0 USB drivers, i have tried a couple different PC's and nothing seems to work. i also noticed if i try and and do software update from settings>about device it says "your device has been modified software updates are not available."
model number is SM-N900T, Android Version 4.4.2.
anyone have any ideas how i can get it to mount to my PC?
thanks in advance

Kies 3 is installed
I have never used Kies so I don't know what "mount" means to it, but if you mean mount your device's media so that you can directly read from and write to it through Windows Explorer - i.e. Universal Mass Storage (UMS) - then that ability has been removed beginning with Android 4.3.

Wha...? really? you cant just plug your note 3 into your PC through USB and move files around?
Kies is Samsungs utility for updating firmware and such

Not since 4.3. You still have MTP but that is about the same thing as FTP -- files are transferred when used. With UMS the media is mounted into the PC's file system. There are some custom kernels for the SM-N900T that have re-enabled UMS but I think they are all for Android 4.4.x and I am still using 4.3 so I haven't tried any of them.

I can plug my note 3 to my laptop and go through my files. It automatically pops up. Open/view files

If you cannot see them through Notepad's File|Open file locator then it is MTP.

You can try to reinstall the driver from the Samsung website. Similar situation happened to me a few days ago.
Don't use kies 3. Download and install Kies and that should fix your issue. http://www.samsung.com/in/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP

I would agree with you here, however, when I first got my Note 3 and connected to my MBP (same model as OP), it used to display the option, but ever since NB4 and beyond I haven't ever seen the option again.
The only thing I haven't tried, is launching Android File Transfer before plugging it in to see if that makes a difference, but I uninstalled that due to NE6 (and beyond)'s ability to show the internal and external sdcards as mount points.

Hi. I am Carlos from the philippines. I am a Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G user, and I have some issues with my unit regarding the usb debugging and my external USB suddenly it is not functioning on my phone anymore, and, even the tethering on my phone cannot also be selected for it to work. But, I can still charge my phone using my pc or charging brick, and even use the usb port for my headset. (with headset adaptor for usb type-c)
There is no problem with my pc or even my external usb, cause I have tried them on my wife's phone and the external usb and my pc can detect her phone. What could be the problem? Can anybody help me with this? Tia
I am also facing the same problem. Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro user here. OTG and USB options stopped working all of a sudden. I have created a thread here regarding the same. Some users in xiaomi europe forum have also reported the same issue. Looks like this is a hardware issue triggered by some specific setting. So far no solution.
Actually, I ordered a cheap priced charging port for Mi 10T from Shopee. It is not a original Xiaomi product but an OEM I suppose. It has not arrived yet, but, as soon as I receive it, I will go to a technician and have my stock charging port replaced. Maybe around less than month from now I will get back here and post the result. Cause, this is the last resort in finding solution to this issue...
4 days ago I had the same problem as you, I found a way to solve this error.
First you go to Settings, select All parameters, select Android version, if it is android 11, then you push the volume of android 11 up and down 3 times until it shows number 11, then plug the phone into the computer to see if it shows usb for file transfer.
