Greetings!
I just installed the PhilZ Touch Recovery in my Xperia ZL and rooted it. The issue is when I try to update to JB 4.3. Once I download the firmware by OTA I try to install it, the phone reboots and starts installing the new update the phone boots into recovery. Once I choose the option "Reboot Now" the phone starts again and the error message of "Installation Failed" is show.
Any ideas of what could be the problem? I kind of tired of the 4.2.2 update.
Thanks in advance!
OTA won't install on modded device
And dont try that
Just flash ftf

Hello, I found out that there is a new update for my phone. After I connected to Wi-Fi and downloaded it, starting the update made my phone restart and boot into Clockwork Recovery. This is the part where I'm stuck and I don't know what to do. I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing in Clockwork Recovery so I just exited and booted into Android where I got a message saying that the update was interrupted. If I try to update again it prompts me to connect to Wi-Fi and redownload it.
So my main question is, what am I supposed to do once I'm in Clockwork Recovery? Also, slightly related question, if I update will I lose root access?

1: How do I revert to stock recovery? If I do, will I lose anything?
2: Are there any alternatives to this?
Thanks for your help, by the way. I appreciate it.
either find the stock recovery and flash it thru odin
OR
wipe everything and flash stock rom thru odin.
I installed cwm using ROM manager. Right now, there is no problem with phone's working, and I was also able to backup my stock ROM. The problem is, when I flash a new ROM (using rom manager), it ends up in the same stock ROM with factory reset. I can't also boot into the clockworkmode recovery. What shall I do to replace the current cwm version with a working version?
Go into download mode and reflash ur stock rom with odin. You will also have stock recovery back.
Re-root and flash cwm with your stock recovery.
Thats it.
Youre a lucky guy if your phone still wants to boot after rommanager cwm...
Just to make sure, you can flash roms WITH rommanager, but not FROM rommanager.
The ones in their list arent compatible with our gio.

Thank you..
Since I am a beginner, can you please tell me about getting into download mode and reflash using odin.
I can still boot into my stock recovery. I have downloaded 'cwm 6 for gio' from xda. Can I install this using 'install from sdcard' option in stock recovery? Will it get updated properly or end up in bricking my phone?
(Sorry to ask very basic questions)

Flash another kernel and another ROM.
Make sure they are compatible.
Which kernel and ROM are you trying to use?
You must not use SEUS if your bootloader is unlocked. You might brick your device.
Try using flashtool. Get into fastboot mode and flash custom kernel like LuPuS which already has CWM recovery. And then you can fash custom rom you want using Install ZIP from sdcard option in CWM.

Same thing happened to me so I wrote a guide of howto fix
I fixed my problem with flashtool help, now I am with stock iCS rom.
And I have another problem... :
I rooted my phone and now I downloaded x-Parts from GooglePlay market. I installed cwm with it, but when I try option to boot to recovery, it just doesn't boot. It restarts my phone as normal.
Also, tryed with voice_down button but still - no luck.
Maybe anyone know how to fix cwm problem?
Thanks...

Try pressing back key instead of volume down. This will work.

since you unlocked your bootloader you can just flash a custom kernel which will have root/recovery
Hello guys! I wanted to ask a question about my ace ii. I installed rox's cm11(build with audio not fixed) and used it for a day or two. Then i go into cwm to install cm 10.2 and it says that it failed to install the zip and also a status 7 error.
Also my recovery is permanent cwm with me doing nothing. When i reboot to recovery it goes to cwm 6.0.4.5 automatically..official recovery has disappeared. I tried to delete "assert starting line" and then i get Status 6 error. Then i try to flash cm11 again which i did successfully last time and status 7 error pops up again. I can't flash anything .(can flash cwm 6.0.2.8 but still same error.)
What can i do here guys?

Alrighty will flash again russian mg2.
About the errors did i corrupt anything in some way?
Just did it and it works until i flash cm 10.2(26 nov version) which makes it go in a bootloop(?) (cyanogenmod icon flashes)
EDIT: Goes into cwm 6.0.4.5 again..stock recovery is gone and menu flashes. I think imma stay with stock 4.1.2 until i get to know what it is. Anyone got a clue?
After flashing back to stock did you root ,wipe data, cache and dalvik before install ? I'm thinking you didn't root it
