so i was kinda searching around and seeing if there is way to sim-unlock this device like super CID or something like that....but from what i've gathered there isn't any software unlock available to us....pretty much u have to ask t-mobile or do those sketchy websites that say they will....i bought this phone online and not directly from t-mobile so i'm thinking they won't give me the code......maybe i missed something? help would be appriciated.
I purchased mine on craigslist and tmobile gave me the unlock code. I went on there online chat and they emailed the code within 12 hours.

You can get the unlock code through online..........give your IMEI number and get the unlock code for ur mobile.... i will suggest the website which is doing good service .....you can approach this website. I never heard of a service provider charging for an unlock code.
BTW to OP
it does not matter where you got your phone, as long as you're in good standings with your service provider they will offer you the unlock code for free.
1 per number every 90 days.
Try this for non-carrier unlock its 25 bucks I think

If someone has a better answer for a technical question, there's NOTHING wrong with reviving a thread to provide that answer. I use Google all the time to find answers, and I don't care how old the thread is if the answer works. I want the best answer.
If your complaint is you think the guy is spamming in his answer, then that's a different matter.
This phone is still being sold and people are still looking for the best way to unlock it. The "T-Mobile" T989 SII variant is superior to the AT&T variant. It has a faster CPU (1.5GHz vs 1.2GHz), a bigger screen (4.5" vs 4.3"), and is QUAD band. Once unlocked it can run on both AT&T and T-Mobile HSPA+. Right now it's being sold at a big box store for $299, without contract.

T-Mobile reps are the worst. The service is great but the people aren't. Had to get a replacement phone for my hard-bricked T989 and the lady did not understand that my phone was broken and asked me multiple times if I was calling from the device in question (the one I've told her atleast 10 times is completely broken and wont turn on or do anything). It is much better to try to keep asking a different chat rep before going to another website because most of the time they are just in a hurry to get done talking with you. Try a different chat rep.

Holy, here in Canada they grab 50-75$ to unlock your phone...
Tmobile will not give it
I am not a T-Mobile customer and they refuse to give me the unlock code for the device. I have spoke with two different chat reps and one on the phone. I also have spoke to Samsung and they said they could help unlock but I would have to get the Network Lock Code from T-Mobile not sure what that is or if that is actually what I am trying to get rep could have been an idiot.
Edit: I purchased an unlock code from Cellunlocker.net for 24.99 for my SGH-T989 worked perfect and took only 3 hours to get my code
So to be clear, if I want to sellmy Telus phone to a Rogers user, we have to call rogers for an unlock code using the guy's Rogers sim card?
I tried that "Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock" app and it didn't work ... kept crashing aroung pass 4/5 ...
got online with T-mobile customer care chat, they wanted me to fax them a copy of my receipt showing I purchased the phone from a T-mobile store ... but I gave them the IMEI and they said this:
"!Ivy G: I have filed the request to unlock your phone. SIM subsidy unlock requests do not have a set time limit in which they are processed. However, in many cases they are processed within 24 hours. If we do not have the unlocking code, and we need to contact the manufacturer, that process may take up to 14 days to get a response. T-Mobile cannot guarantee a response time or an unlock code for all equipment, and not all equipment will be eligible to be unlocked.
!Ivy G: If the SIM Unlock Team and the manufacturer cannot provide an unlock code, you may need to exchange your device or purchase another device. We will send you an e-mail when the request is completed, delayed or denied. If completed, we provide you with the unlock code and instructions on how to enter it in the e-mail. Be aware that your e-mail service may block our message. To prevent the e-mail from being blocked, please allow e-mails from [email protected]. Your unlock request confirmation number is #xxxxxxx."

I need help please, I post adds on CL and buy/sell the items on fleabay. I usually don't check the EMEI or any other numbers and have been fine until now. I was under the impression that if the phone is black listed, unlocking it would fix the issue... Am I incorrect??? If not, what can (besides refunding the $$$), be done to the phone to make it work on the T-Mobile network? IF unlocking doesn't correct the issue?
Thank You, in advance for your help everyone...
My correct Email is [email protected]
The yahoo Email that is attached to this account is abandoned, and I can no longer access it.
The Control Panel will not allow me to update my email. It states that the email is already taken.
So I believe I have two accounts on this site. I've already messaged XDA about the issue
I don't think there's anything legal that can be done if T-Mobile has blacklisted that IMEI, besides it maybe working on another Carrier? i.e. ATT but I don't know about that.
I think your chances of getting it work on T-Mobile again are in the neighborhood of .01%
Yeah if it's a T-mobile phone and T-mobile blacklisted the phone, it will NEVER work on T-mobile. Sim unlock might or might not work on another network such as AT&T as I've heard they now share blacklisting. Might work overseas.
Refund the money, get it unlock to see if it work on AT&T, resell it on CL/Fleabay and make sure the listing shows that it's a BL T-mobile phone.
Was It pass due account?

no unlocking it wouldnt fix the issue, once the phone has its IMEI blacklisted, the only (legal) way to get it whitelisted again is for the prvious owner is pay off the phones balance, and thats only if the IMEI was blacklisted due to not paying the bill. If it was blacklisted because it was reported stolen, your SOL.
The only thing you can do, is unlock it and try to sell it as an unlocked device. But other then that, you will not get what you payed for it, due to it being blacklisted on a carrier.
Always gotta check those things on craigslist, people always think "it will never happen to me" untill it happens to them

this isnt a good idea, in your instance, it was their mistake in the first place. The op's situation, what more then likely happened is that the seller of the phone sold him the phone, then reported it stolen. If its reported stolen, they arent going to just "reinstate" it
I'm trying to unlock my HTC One M8 from AT&T. I've already unlocked my Amazon Fire Phone and my Nokia Lumia 1020 and I'd like to unlock the HTC One M8 as well.
When I went to the unlock form, I typed in my IMEI number and it said that AT&T doesn't have my IMEI number registered. I triple checked to make sure I typed it right ad it still said the same thing. Any ideas?

AT&T changed their unlocking policies to make it easier. All you have to do is fill out the form and they give you a code. I've done it three times over the last week. It's really easy. I don't know why you're plugging a site.
This was not intended to be a plug but after spending over a week getting my phone unlocked through AT&T including their website and not making any progress short of every rep telling me they won't do it any more I tried to find a cheap site on various threads on here. This was the only one I found to be reasonably priced. Just wanted to safe someone the time if they are in the same boat.
If the phone's IMEI associated with your account? If you bought it from another source, it wouldn't be and that is why the database won't locate the IMEI. Or even if you bought it from AT&T on your account, it just might not be provisioned properly on your account. I've seen lots of folks have luck with bringing the phone into an AT&T store and having the IMEI linked to your account, then the SIM unlock should work.

Sadly, I cannot. Several people contacted me after posting that and asked me to help them. I used three of the five that AT&T allows in a year. On the fourth they told me I surpassed my limit. I was more disappointed than anybody since they paid me $100 each!
If you know anybody who uses AT&T they can do it for you. It is very easy. Just find an AT&T user or even a former AT&T user and have them submit the form.
If you're s-off this worked for me. I have T-Mobile variant though, not sure if it matters. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708567
Hi.
Someone will know how to unlock Alcatel idol 4s Windows from T-mobile?
I not have T-Mobile Account. i do not live in US. I called T-Mobile but they ask for an account to be able to unlock this cellphone.
Can it be unlocked through a service or Software?
Thanks and Regards!
There are sim unlocking/network unlocking services. I am aware of a good one for Lumias, but have not had luck on the IDOL4s yet. Maybe someone can give a suggestion of a valid one they used more recently...

Yes, I have contacted several services but none to result, one that you recommend me?
I have only tried one that says they will do it, but it resulted in no service provided thus far. I have since put in a dispute/claim with paypal. The order still says in progress when I check the site. It has been that way since 5/28. So maybe their turnaround is much longer than what is advertised. No communication from them at all too. So at this point I have not one to recommend.

I do not use T-Mobile service, much like your self. I had a situation where Alcatel in an attempt to replace my last Idol 4s mailed me the T-Mobile locked model instead of what I sent in which was the unlocked model. The only site I found when looking for a whole day was simunlock.com, they say they support unlocking it and let you fill the form out on the site with the information required.

When I bought the phone I did not have the sticker. I found a page where you enter the imei and it shows the model, the brand and the provider id. I do not know exactly if the provider ID that shows is the correct one, in your case could you give me an example of the provider id of your alcatel? Since as I tell you, mine does not bring the sticker
@rjcs123
This was the provider ID on the sticker for the T-Mobile variant Alcatel mistakenly sent me. 6071w-2btbus7
@nate0 is the same provider id that throws me the page = 6071W-2BTBUS7-1, model = Alcatel 4S Pro TMO

Are you making progress?
Someone on Windows Central sent me a message on a work around way they used to unlock this model. Below I summarized it.
A workaround for the unlock code:
A for sure way is to have T-Mobile to unlock it. But you need service with them to get the unlock code while having nothing owed on the phone or account. Call them and ask for the cheapest prepaid plan for one month, so that you can get the unlock code? He ordered a $5.99 sim card with 30 minutes and 30 text messages he used that for a few days so the IMEI can show as active in their database. I will follow up with him to see if he did in fact unlock it already.
UPDATE: Turns out T-Mobile was not telling the truth and needed more from his account then they lead on. So he canceled that method. T-Mobile did however share a unlocking site for him to consider, which is strange. But I guess they were doing what they could to provide customer satisfaction.
I'm also interested in finding a way to unlock my Alcatel 4S Windows. I sent my unlocked phone in for earpiece repairs and they sent it back to me SIM locked with a new IMEI. I have no clue why such a repair requires a new IMEI and relocking back to TMO (the device is the same, perhaps system board change?). I even left a note that the phone is unlocked and I need it to remain unlocked after the repairs. Now I'm stuck. I'm not with TMO and have no way to unlock it.
My first Alcatel phone and I don't even get to use it.
Tried to get TMobile to provide the code for 2 months before I switched, they repeatedly said it was requested, never received it.
Could not find any vendors that could provide the code.
Contacted Alcatel and they said only Tmobile had the unlock codes.
Gave up and bought a 650, but will most likely switch to iOS when it breaks. Apps are disappearing daily and W10M is god awful slow. Sad really!!!!!

Alcatel has been a pain in the neack honestly...FFU is still broken for the open market model. Probably why they feel they have to send out T-Mobile units not realizing they are locked to the T-Mobile network...lol
UPDATE: after speaking to a few support reps, one finally figured out what happened, that some of us were screwed over getting a phone we can't use. Got a prepaid shipping label and returned it. Now I have a brand new in box open market version with VR headset and everything (I already have one but I'm not complaining). I'm satisfied for now. Just worried the next time the speaker blows and I have to send it in for service again...

Has there been any further progress? I would be interested to know which unlock site TMO recommended. I have tried 3 sites in total and received 2 refunds so far. I was able to get an unlock code using an Android app on another phone, but I just receive the message "incorrect code" when I input on the Idol 4s.
TLDR: I was able to get my unlock code from Codes2Unlock (even with my phone having an unpaid balance).
Go to Codes2Unlock website, choose any microsoft lumia device, put in the IMEI for the Duo, once you get a confirmation email, forward it to their support rep telling them that its a surface duo and that there was no option for a Surface Duo on their website, Play the waiting game, and Enjoy once they send it over.
I (probably like you) for the longest time wanted to get my surface unlocked but couldnt because at the time i was paying on my device AT&T gave me the run around with unlock codes, and so did microsoft. Because of the area i lived in the duo was basically useless on AT&T and i literally only switched from tmobile for that phone.
I checked website after website and nobody was able to do it. I happened to remember Codes2Unlock.com from years ago when I got an unlock code from them for my Galaxy S4. So i emailed them, asked if they supported unlocking the surface duo. they said yes-- strange thing was on their site theres no option for the surface duo even though if you google it, theres a link saying they do.
So the support rep (who replies fast af lol) messaged me back asking if my device asks for an unlock pin--i said yes-- the support person said it should be no problem.
I mentioned to them that theres no option for the surface Duo and that only Lumia devices show-- they said just select any Microsoft Lumia device, send the confirmation email with the IMEI and let them know its a surface duo and they'll update it on their end. they also mentioned (after asking) that an unpaid device doesnt matter and they can still get an unlock code.
I forwarded the same Rep the confirmation email and 5 days later (this morning) i woke up with my unlock code and now my Duo runs on T-Mobile.
If theres any doubts ill reply with screenshots but im at work rn so it was just easier to type all this out first. Hope this helps anyone stuck on AT&T
I have been told by both Microsoft and AT&T to pound sand. Open an account and use the phone on a paid plan. Just tried your method and I'm waiting a response with my code. They did reply to my updated device info within 5 minutes. Super fast. Thanks thanks for the suggestion, hope this works better than then dialing AT&T or Microsoft support. I will update to confirm this works. Sorry for posting in two threads.

Did you email them like I mentioned in the post?
Good morning all. I would like to report back that I Did get this thing unlocked. However, and that is a Big however, AT&T nor the mentioned supplier was able to confirm the existence of the imei Without the phone first being registered on the AT&T network. I had to buy a prepaid plan to get the phone to work. Then, magically, 18 hours later I got the confirmation from AT&T after emails saying "we are further investigating your request.". The mentioned supplier also said that it didn't exist till then. I canceled my request after AT&T finally came through. BE Warned! Even tried redpocket (AT&T mvno) and they couldn't even do the initial activation.

I had to buy a prepay plan for them to unlock it because without putting it on att first, it didn't exist to them. Yes, activated on att to get unlock code, got code, swapped Sim, entered code and unlocked. That was the final resolution to getting it unlocked.

Oof yeah that's because they don't register the IMEI in their system until the phone is activated. Which is likely why codes2unlock couldn't find it either

So, that being said.... To update everyone, IF YOU BUY A NEW SEALED IN THE BOX PHONE, it cannot be unlocked unless first actually being registered/activated on the network it is locked to. Silly me bought a new sealed device and tried to unlock it without paying the man first. Really wish there was some direction on this before I bought it. Oh well. I figured there would be a record somewhere since the DID assign it an IMEI.

If it is an att model, it has the att Sim in it. Not sure about activation overseas. I don't understand why nobody mentions this. I have never bought a sealed locked phone just to unlock it so I didn't know. To me, it sounds like there is no master list or database of what phones and imei's got made. It doesn't exist until it is activated. I hope you don't, but sounds like you do. I bought it originally to test to see if I wanted to trade it in with Ms for the duo 2, so it wasn't a deal breaker...but if I didn't like it, I would have been stuck with it.

As it it now, I have to get a prepaid AT&T when i get back in the country.... oh, well...
I just tried to go through codes2unlock and after more than double the 7 working days and two support request emails going unanswered I would strongly warn against using codes2unlock. Seems I've been scammed out of the 35usd fee, buyer beware.
Anyone tried this service recently?
