thank you
Find a stock RUU for your device. There's a RUU thread in the Android Dev section.
Like the poster above me said, flash the appropriate RUU to go back to complete stock, however if you only want to change the appearance to stock sense then flash Viper ROM again and choose Sense theme while installing. That will give you a fully customizable ROM (with all the venom tweaks) that looks exactly like stock HTC ROM.
viper and ruu

BULID 2.17.401.2 CL89015 KEY
i try so many ruu but still saying rong version
BUT I DO NO MY I NEED VIRGIN-UK VIRGI001 BUT I CANT FIND IT
I have nearly tryed ever ruu keep saying it the rong version what do i do?
Also make sure you relock your bootloader too.
The ruu will be out there, unless you updated to jb and updated your hboot, without keeping a nandroid back up, if so...you're pretty fudged.
Edit just re read haha, from viper x, the best Rom ever, hmm...

Your on a branded device, did you not back up via CWM when you installed recovery? That's the first thing everyone should do! So you can restore back, if you had no backup your pretty fudged as you'll need your carrier specific RUU. Or find someone else with your CID and ask for a copy of their backup.

NO RUU only nandroid backup on your main version
And post in the Q&A. This is the general section !
I just don't understand why people don't make nandroid backups. I would never even think about flasing a custom rom unless I have way back.
please help
i ricked my htc m8, it has no SO no recovery, has nothing, only HBOOT and fast boot.
i want to flash or install STOCK rom.
i think i need RUU to run
please help
Install a stock rom or check my Sig for the backup collection and get it there if it's available. And read the thread carefully !!!
Hi
My situation is I have a shiny new HTC One m8 from EE and decided straight away to root the phone and flash a rom. Like an idiot I did this without doing any research or any sort of backup . I've always had iPhone and after jail breaking you could return the phone to stock very easily.
I now want to have the option to return the phone (M8) to stock in case I want to sell it in the future.
I have been going round in circles trying to sort this out and getting nowhere. I have managed to find reference to Nandroid Backup, RUU, Radio.
I am not sure if it is relevant but I have attached a picture showing a screen shot showing the CID and MID numbers. I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction with this.
CID ORANG001
MID 0P6B10000
Thanks
Restore the nandroid you found for orang001 1.54. Works fine
Am having trouble restoring stock recovery tho on orang001

COLLECTION of Stock backup's
There's an nandroid in OP that we can use to restore to stock via philz recovery. Also stock recoveries available

Hi and thanks again for your help.
It seems like I am getting closer to sorting this out. I have seen this page before but was not sure which I should use, Stock Nandroid Backup or Stock Recovery. Also which of the Stock Nandroid backups should I use:
CID ORANG001
1.54.61.5 - CWM Philz touch Thanks to Stuart0001
1.54.61.5 - CWM Philz touch Thanks to Brds7t7
1.54.61.5 - TWRP Thanks to Brds7t7
Does the 1.54.61.5 number correspond with the Stock recovery and does that mean I use both stock nandroid and stock recovery
Once I know that then all that remains is a tutorial to guide me through the process.
Thanks again.

You need both. There is not an actual stock recovery for your phone on that page but the 1.54.161.5 should work. Full tutorial on that page but quick rundown, get one of the twrp ones.
download nandroid, unzip nandroid into twrp/backups/serialnumber/ directory on your phone
load twrp and choose restore, choose that nandroid, let it finish, click reboot and make sure phone is working
load boot loader and put in fastboot mode
fastboot flash recovery 1.54recovery.img

Hi
Just to clarify a few points.
1. There is not an actual stock recovery for your phone on that page but the 1.54.161.5 should work.
When you say "Should Work" what exactly does that mean? What is the chance it won't work and mess my phone up?
2. fastboot flash recovery 1.54recovery.img
Where should I download the recovery.img to? Should I also put that on the phone prior to installing.
Finally should the phone be s-off or s-on
Thanks again
Restore HTC One (M8) to stock
Hi
I have to admit I am finding this all too much to take in and am feeling overwhelmed by it all.
I consider myself to be quite computer literate however I have never come across such a bewildering array of options as there is with rooting and unrooting an android phone.
I made the original mistake of rooting my phone and flashing a different rom without really knowing what I was doing. Consequently I have no means of returning my phone to stock other than trying to follow the the instructions posted by other members of this forum who I can see put a lot of time and effort into helping others.
So I guess what I am asking for is for an expert to help guide me through, step by step. in returning my phone to stock. I am not sure if offering payment is against the forum rules, if it is then I apologise otherwise I am willing to pay for any help that gets my phone back to stock.
Thank You

Hi
My good news is I found a tutorial that helped me to return my phone to stock. The site had a video tutorial and a step by step guide which I followed and now I have a stock htc m8.
I would like to say thanks to all who helped.
http://theunlockr.com/2014/06/08/how-to-unroot-the-htc-one-m8-video/
All I have to do now is to remove the tamper flag for which there are plenty of guides.
Thanks again.
Hello there, although Im not really a noob when it comes to flashing phones, I have rooted etc this phone but got a problem.....
If i flash a rom with 2.22.401.5 and similar 2.22 roms, they flash correctly, but on bootup, take about 5 minutes to boot into phone, so at the moment, im using 1.54.401.10 earlier version of insert coin rom, I got no idea how to flash the firmware to upgrade it, so need your help!!!!!
by the way, i am unable to s-off with firewater because my phone been patched, it says
thank you any help received
Two method as option :
1. Restore the stock backup and do OTA update to 4.4.3 then you can flash 4.4.3 sense based ROM.
2. When your target is to flash a custom ROM based on 4.4.3; you don't really need all those going back to stock and apply OTA stuff.
What you need is flash the untouched 4.4.3 firmware of your device version then install ROM
So ... what is your device current firmware (not software version) ?
To flash an untouched firmware, you don't need S-Off
im on 4.4.2 and my cid thing is ORANG001 , baseban 1.17.2133156 etc, build number 1.54.401 cl325784 release keys
Your build number is not 1.54.401 that's the custom rom talking. Your official build number is different. Check my thread and look for the cid and check the accompanied main number
its orang001 1.54.61.5
Yeah.....correct.
but dunno what to do next lol

ckpv5 already told you what to do next. Restore a backup for your device and do the OTA to 4.4.3
COLLECTION of Stock backup's
Head over to Mr Hofs thread linked above in the section for stock backups there is ORANG001 1.54.61.5 both TWRP and Philz version for whichever you prefer to use.
Download the backup and unpack the .zip file into the backup directory on your device, this information you can find in post 2 on the same thread(Collection of stock backups...) Restore your backup.
Flash the stock recovery, this too you can find in post 1 in the recovery section 1.54.61.5. Flash it with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img The command/info is also on post 1 in same thread.
Reboot the device once back to stock, OTA notification will appear, do the OTA and you're set :good:
Now that's what i call.......
