Xperia v vs ion
The new Bond Phone in Singapore is Xperia V. I went to Singtel yesterday and tested the Xperia V with my ion, results were disappointing.
1. The screen on the ion beats the Xperia V so much. Contrast so much better and deeper blacks on the Ion.
2. I have installed the Cybershot V4 and i compared the camera on both phones. Superior Auto on V and HDR auto on Ion, the xperia v's 13mp camera gave me a pic of 2.2mb photo size and the Ion 12Mp camera gave me a 2.95mb photo size . (Same Photo)
3. Yea, the ions lags slightly on CPU speed, but its very Minor.
3a. Yea, the onscreen buttons may seem not so responsive on the ion, but after all the firmware updates, all the touch screen Mods, its almost Perfect.
4. After looking at the outlook of the Xperia V, i found out that i prefer my Ion looks(Aluminium back) , although its slightly thicker. In fact i feel that Xperia Arc looks better then the V.
5. The screen is larger then the V.
6. Internal Storage is more then the V.

haha. So coincidence. I posted something similar days ago. choosing between Ion and V. From Singapore too.
In Singapore, V is the bond phone as T is not launched there.
The lag on the Ion is hardly a dealbreaker imo. I am actually pleasantly surprised because the s2 skyrocket lags a lot more. Sony's UI is closer to stock android so that helps keep the lag down. It doesn't really lag that much in the first place for me though. It's honestly the best UI I have ever used on an android phone. The bottom line is that the snapdragon s3 processor is more than capable of running ics and jb. If you're someone that needs the absolute fastest then you wouldn't be looking at dual core phones anyways, haha.
where can i find these on screen mods to make the buttons more sensitive? thanks
^ try searching. Or looking in the theme and app section.

Xperia v has s4 processor, much better than old s3. Also u get better ui and a better walkman. Also Xperia v is expected to get jelly bean before Xperia ion. U also get bravia engine 2.

Hi all there,
I'll upgrade my phone next january and I´m wishing to buy a better Sony phone (I have Sony Xperia U running a modded ROM from here, TheBrainsROM [thanks to thebrainkafka for his development], but when I did some use from my brother´s Xperia SL, I´ve got very disappointed with mine's performance).
So, I think I´m going for S, SL or Acro S, but these phones share some equal specifications and I was wondering what should be the very appeal to buy one or another (price, waterproof, frequency....).
I´m not letting the phone go on a stock ROM, I will upgrade it with some ROM from here at once. Would have any of them an advantage with this, since I can do a better performance with a modded ROM?
Or, should I go vor a Xperia V? Why? (too much for my budget now, but maybe I would wait some more...)
Thanks in advance for your time and for sharing your experience here,
Alexandre
Xperia V
I'd hold out for the Xperia V if you can. Why? Well it has a newer chip set (s4) so it's faster, more efficient and overall more future proof. It has a sexy design, same size as the S, SL and Acro S, it's waterproof I think? It has 4G LTE. Micro SD card expansion. Removable battery. The lost goes on really.
Just wait for Xperia V
V
Wait for V. Or acro S.
Depends on your taste though.
Overall, acro s is good enough to satisfy my needs. It has microSD card support, size that fit my hand, water/dust resist coz im an outdoor type, and design that suit me. I can ignore bulkiness that acro s have. Also, the performance is not so bad and battery life is kinda sucks.
The devs here are less than S/ion.
I dont care about removable battery, because i dont need that.
I prefer V than acro S, besides V got a nice chipset and new tech, V provides more chance of future updates than the previous gen.
So, take xperia V.
Why not go the Xperia ION ?
http://geekaphone.com/compare/Sony-Xperia-V-vs-Sony-Xperia-Ion
You can pick up Xperia S for cheap now, but if I was going to buy a phone now I would probably buy an Xperia V but it will be expensive.
Get the yuga or odin when they centre out. I prefer t over v. T had a better benchmark than v in a video. Also jb for t maybe is out.

Which phone should I buy : Xperia S or Xperia SL?
Obvious the Xperia SL is better with the faster CPU :silly::silly:
But I can see that there is not many ROMs for this phone
I'm wondering if I could install Xperia S ROMs and Xperia S kernels (custom) on Xperia SL :laugh:
No **** the SL.

Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Reading about them, you wont see a lot of diferences between them... Only you can see that SL have 0.2MHz of proccesor.. (it could mean that SL drains battery quickly, obviusly a bit quickly). All other things are similar, and you could lose buying the SL beacuse, like you said, SL lack the same comunity development.
If you find out, that you could install Xperia S roms in an SL phone... Go to SL jajaja
Actually thats 400mhz Difference, 200mhz per core right, and XSL have Bluetooth 3.0, and XS have 2.1
And I read that newer XS which does not have any Yellow Tint, Quick Charge has been removed?(hardware related?), atleast on my XSL i can confirm that it is working if you have EP850/850
And according to reviews, like GSMArena, Photo's and Video is slightly better on XSL(software related?)
Now I'm just wondering if I could install all the wonderful ROM in Xperia S Development box for my SL ??

Bluetooth 3.0?? I'll see again and in a few post says 2.1 :S where have you seen it? http://www.smart-gsm.com/moviles/sony-xperia-sl
400MHz with the same battery (1750mAh) is equal to say that drains quickly... i dont know it but i think it.
See this page http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4894&idPhone2=4369 and try to read or watch comparatives in web!

Well, I still say 'duck' those 200 MHz and bluetooth!
If you're asking for XDA purposes; get the S
If you're a douchebag that only gets a phone to brag in front of friends; get the SL (I'm not judging anyone, but the only people I know that have the SL are douchebags (no offence to the cool guys at XDA that have the SL)).
If I were you, I will go for S. I dont care about rom development but custom kernel are very important for me. If XS kernel can be use on XSL, then I will say XSL.
But I'm now stuck weather to pick between Xperia S and Xperia P.
Xperia S got HD screen, better battery capacity and processer. But the capacitive button really annoying me.
In other hand Xperia P surround by aluminium unibody, power by WhiteMagic and capacitive button are reside in transparent strip. But it have low battery capacity.
Guy please help me which one do you prefer.
Thanks.

You have to think also about applications and games you already have bought through playstore, i read that some who upgraded his 2011 xperia(qualcomm) to xperia p(st-ericsson) have a lot of incompatibilites, specially games. So for me i decided to buy XSL, hd screen, 12mp camera, bigger screen, bigger battery, and better cpu 1.7ghz, and of course most of my apps that i bought from google play are compatible.
About the capacitive buttons, they are not like XP, but i got used to it, maybe live with it.

And what's about the kernels.
Can I install Xperia S custom kernel for the Xperia SL
the cheapest
SL
Have an SL, and Im not a DB as some have indicated..Good phone and for some reason, seems to be cheaper than the S in some cases...Running Turbo Rom2 at the moment.
I have no problem running S roms with a unlocked boot loader...
Really though its essentially the same phone except the overclock, so if your going to root and rom, I really see no difference...
Hi, I have two options for a new phone
Used xperia S around 14000 INR
new Xperia L around 17000INR
I use Ray and I think low PPI screen of L wouldn't suit me (ray has 297ppi) but I also think L is a bit beer in performance.
Does HD games still work well on S? any lags on MIUI v5? (It's the most heavy ROM ATM, right?)
Which one should I get?
bump
If I were to choose between those two smartphones, I'd choose Xperia S because I have it and I really love it !

Xperia S is an old device, newest games are working on our device, but not on the highest framerate and every effects. Plus probably we won't see any more updates from sony.
Xperia L is not a good choice either, I suggest you start looking for other phones
I'd gather a little but more of money and get another better option instead of any of those two. Can be an Xperia, but a newer one.

It is indeed a very powerful phone.. 2 years back.. my s2 used to run like this.. s2 was bought for 28k and this one for 12.25k
Truly satisfied.. Do wateva u want on it.. ROOT it make it more faster and efficient.. My daily battery usage is just 30 to 40% with normal usage.. 3g.. games .. calling.. browsing.. music.. movies..etc etc etc
I recommend -- MX Player, Default Walkman for music and Stock Cam
maybe for some people, but not for me, xperia m is great
I think you're right about the camera, we should use other camera app for better quality, the stock camera is difficult to get the focus

Sony XPERIA M
The XPERIA M (C1905) is a brilliant little phone.
I bought one for my mother♥.
The main drivers were:
● Light (115g)
● Long battery life (1 week with her usage)
● Small(ish) form factor (124 x 62 x 9.3 mm)
● Good GPU (Adreno 305, which says more about me than my mother)
● Stylish design (Purple requested)
The Sony XPERIA M really is a joy to use. When all the above is combined into one package at an attractive price, it is a true winner for the average user.
And the real bonus is my mother likes her first Android phone.
She just uses, txt/mms, phone, calendar, email, WhatsApp, Sony Weather widget, camera a bit and the other basics.
I have root'd the phone and removed Twitter and Facebook and most of the other 'bloatware'.
Use SetCPU with screen off profiles and thus able to reduce battery consumption to the minimum. (Approx. 7% per day if not used)
I was pleasantly surprised I could get 109Mbits/sec real throughput on 5Ghz WiFi.
The downside of the XPERIA M is that it is unlikely to ever see Android 4.3 or above and any upgrades will be contained within the current Android versions.
The 2GB user data storage is an inconvenience for those on a rooted phone, but a considerable barrier for those with a stock XPERIA M.
The camera has a distinct blue tint on some phones, which is very noticeable.
The camera can still take well defined photos and we should see improvements in this area as upgrades are released in the future :fingers-crossed:.
There is no MHL support on the XPERIA M (C1904/C1905) at this time. This may change in the future either provided by Sony or via XDA Developers.
Accessories
SanDisk Extreme 64GB microSD card
MicroUSB 4-in-1 card reader.
Mugen 1900mAh battery for XPERIA L (which most likely will fit the XPERIA M)
Summary
If people bought an XPERIA M for the right reasons and NOT because they couldn't afford a Sony XPERIA Z1, the phone is very capable of providing the basic Android experience and in many cases way beyond Android phones with higher specs/prices.
Other phones in this range.
Nokia Lumia 520/525 - WP8, battery only 1430mAh, no NFC, Miracast or front facing camera. Same SoC as the XPERIA M.
If you can tear yourself away from Android, this phone is the big winner in smartphone steaks for the basic user, just on price alone.
Sony XPERIA L - Everything slightly bigger and heavier with prices still tracking the XPERIA M, but XPERIA M GPU performs better on smaller screen. Personal thing, but I like the looks of the XPERIA M better.
Samsung Galaxy Ace 3(LTE) - Ugly, A good phone in this range, but priced above the XPERIA M
Samsung Galaxy Core i8260 - Ugly, similar in specs to an XPERIA M, but with only an Adreno 203 GPU
Samsung Galaxy S4 mini - Ugly, betters the XPERIA M in almost all specs (both have Adreno 305), but more costly.
LG Optimums L5 and L9 - Mostly lower spec'd GPU.
HTC One mini - Over priced for what you get and no SDcard.
HTC Desire SV - Ugly, old GPU (Adreno 203) and quite heavy.

That may not be correct for a C1904/C1905 Android v4.1.2 device.
MHL is not listed as supported in any Sony documentation and that includes the White Paper.
Have a generic MHL adapter arriving in a few days, so I'll know one way or the other.

@ansebovi - That would be way cool if MHL works. As mentioned I have a MHL adapter on a slow boat from China, so I'm always up for a challenge. Does one know if the 'indo guys' where using stock ROM, or if they'd mod'd something to get it to work.
Either way if someone has done it and documented/observed it working, it's a good sign.
Thanks all for the heads up.
